Headcanon: Celova relationship detail
Nova is hungarian in origin, though she speaks several languages and grew up bilingual ( hungarian and english) She still spoke a lot of hungarian very early on into her transition. Celeste would often ask her about certain phrases that she heard Nova speak frequently. (Celeste is almost fluent in Hungarian present day)
A lot of these little phrases became something special between them. One of the major one you'll often hear Celeste mention in passing has to do with mice.
Hungarians don't ask children why they are crying, they say:
"Miért itatod az egereket?" Which means "Why are you giving drinks to the mice?"
To this day it is one of Celeste's favourite sayings and she often references it, wiping Nova's cheeks with her thumb while saying "Come now, I believe the Mice have had their fill"
Nova still uses it to this day in regards to people she has a soft spot for. She always and still does found comfort in Celeste speaking gently to her as a child when she was scared and going through changes. It's a comfort she subconsciously extends to those in the same position, she speaks gently to them, sometimes using hungarian without thinking.

I want to show him that I'm not a monster, despite being a shifter.
Well did they ever wander into the right place for that. The Alpha can already hear Celeste rolling her eyes, thinking that Nova takes too many risks trying to save the broken and misunderstood. She didn't care. Celeste was the one who taught her that not everyone is as they appear.
"So you're looking for someone. Does that mean you think he's here, or that you're asking for my help? I'm not exactly a detective agency, you know."
Not that that had EVER stopped Nova from putting unnecessary time and effort into her special cases.
the shifter felt uneasy. feeling as if they set foot in the wrong place, but they couldn't just... back out now. nibbling on their lower lip, they ran their fingers through their curls. sucking in a breath, "i'm just... i'm just trying to find someone that tried to save me when i was a baby.. i want to show him that i'm not a monster.. despite.. despite being a shifter.."

The Alpha had only ever handled one shapeshifter in her time on the throne. It had been a much less civil interaction, one that resulted in the eradication of the threat. Still, even then she had given them a chance to live peacefully. This time would be no different. Nova has that habit of taking everything case by case despite the counseling of her.. well... counsel.
Nova eyed him for a while, then turned on her heel and crossed the room for a seat.
"Well come on. Tell me why you're here."
The vampire honestly assumed it was for asylum. Which she would be more than happy to grant given terms were agreed to.... it was more the scrutiny of the underworld community that she was worried the shifter would face.
the shifter had their hands up in defense. "i'm not here to hurt anyone, i promise."
