Post-Covid Kuala Lumpur Day 2
14.08.22
It was a long day for me.
Tumblr media
Not because it was packed to the brim, but because we spend more than 6 hours at Sunway Pyramid for the MapleStory Event - not something the usual me would have done.
Thankfully, the company made the experience a little more enjoyable than I gave it credit for hahaha.
We got to meet more friends, catch up over meals and play games together. Things which otherwise wouldn't have happened if not for this trip.
Tumblr media
We had some mediocre meals and some hiccups but it didn't stop us from enjoying the day!
I really liked the heartfelt conversations the group had at the end of the day at a quiet pancake shop.

Post-Covid Kuala Lumpur Day 1
13.08.22
Hello tumblr!
It has been so long since I last travelled and even longer since I last posted. I'm not even sure how I remembered this place all of a sudden.
But anyways, while I'm at in, let me do a quick update about my latest travel - Kuala Lumpur!
Tumblr media
I have not been on a plane for years now and my love for flying did not weather. It was still butterflies and rainbow as I started my journey to Kuala Lumpur.
Unfortunately, the lack of sleep caught up to me and I slept the entire drive from the airport to our airbnb. Upon reaching, we faced some difficulty checking in so we went to the nearby KLCC to kill time instead. Malaysia's weather was merciless. The walk wasn't even that long but we decided that taking a grab was a better option for future trips there.
Tumblr media
The mall was.. big.. and filled with branded goods. Besides that, I don't have much memory of it LOL.
Had a late "lunch" at genki sushi and my bf likes it, yay! Went back to our airbnb thereafter as we were rushing to meet a friend.
Friend drove us to Sunway Pyramid for a MapleStory event as we had to get some (online) stuff ._.
And after all the "errands" were out of the way, we headed to a KBBQ restaurant for dinner. The food was decent and really worth the money as it is way cheaper than any of the Korean restaurants back home.
Walked around the korean marts in area before we called it a day.
Pretty chill but fruitful day!

SeoulSearching Day 35
21.07.17
Living the life as a Korean.. In Busan!!
Took the 6.30am bus to Busan and I really recommend the bus because it is only 34,200 won (whereas the train is 59,800 won) and the difference in travelling time is only around an hour plus more. We reached busan by 10.40-ish and there would even be a pit stop in the middle.
The bus had comfortable reclining leather chairs, equipped with leg rest, a usb port and plenty of space in between seats. What’s more? The bus was barely half full and the would be a drama playing on the TV in front. Not that I watched it because I slept the entire journey but still... it was a very good journey here!
We eventually decided to stay at Seomyeon because it was the “town” of Busan at J Motel and it turned out to be a pretty good choice as well!
Seomyeon was quite bustling, even at 11pm and it was easy to get around from here. Plus, the motel we are staying in is only 5 minutes away from the station, and quite spacious and comfortable for the two of us.
Our first stop was as Dongnae because I wanted to get something from Labiotte but it was out of stock :( SO we had lunch at Dongnae instead. A “everything” soup with rice, everything meaning soondae, pork and pig’s intestine etc.. The soup was nice but sadly, I can’t appreciate everything else.
Next, the every-tourist’s-to-go-place... Haeundae Beach!
Stopped by for a cup of Starbucks because they are on half price from 20 to 23 July, 3pm to 5pm and we were in luck as we passed a branch at 4pm+
The beach was filled with umbrellas and mats... and people.
People watching and the scorching sun aside, the breeze was great and the water was reeeeally cold. It was nice just sitting at the beach, chilling.
After we decided to move on, we headed to the extreme end of the beach for a short trek up/along Dongbaek. Which had a good view of the beach, a lonely mermaid structure in the middle and a so-so lighthouse at the end.
Continued on our crazy waking journey and wanted to walk to Gwangwali beach but we ended up stopping near the bridge because it was really pretty too, especially when it is lit up against the night skies,
Had a bingsu by the sea before we decided to have our dinner and some drinks there too. The whole area was filled with Koreans just sitting there on their mats, eating, drinking and talking. It felt like we blended in completely.
10pm and we (and everyone else) were still there spending the night away...

SeoulSearching Day 34
20.07.17
Korean Vocal Test and my full marks flew away because I forgot the first character of “small notebook” :(
My friends napped and died so I cooked again and I was lazy today so it was just soba with tomatoes and cucumber hahahaha. Managed to drag my ass and their asses out so we got to meet in the end, at like 9pm hahahaha.
Went into a casino for the first time ever but I didn’t try to gamble because I was too poor to lose anymore money hahahaha.
But pretty cool cause I learnt how a few things worked and it was interesting to just people watch.
Also, Seoul transport system is really amazing. I could get a bus home at ~12AM and get out via public transport at ~4:30AM.. The no sleep life is real hahahaha.
Currently contemplating if I should update this space properly and not sleep or otherwise get that 1 hour of sleep before I have to get up to prepare to head to Busan.....

SeoulSearching Day 33
19.07.17
Met a friend I made from here because of jonghyun in the morning before her flight because she needed some things and I was free so well, why not.
I’m glad how kpop really helps me make friends, even if they’re still singaporean friends because it’s really funny how this one topic unites us and we won’t ever run out of things to talk about or feel awkward despite meeting for only the second time. And we will still meet back in Singapore, talk on twitter and also go for events together (if the chance comes) so at least I know we won’t be just strangers / acquaintances unlike (possibly) everyone else...
Went for a run on my own after school and it felt great ^_^
Cooked kimchi fried rice (again hehe) for dinner and I am happy.
This is probably the kind of life I would lead if I ever go for exchange / study abroad so I guess I got to experience the full package this summer and I am satisfied.

Dinner with my korean classmate in school and then we studied at a cafe thereafter.
Really cool because that cafe was MADE for studying.
They had lamps and plugs and discussion areas just for usage. Pretty creative but I guess that is why their drinks weren’t cheap at all..

SeoulSearching Day 28

Solo trippin’
Refused to wake up early and I ended up only leaving the house at 1.30pm.... What a waste of the morning hahaha. Thank God it didn’t rain today so I could have done whatever I wanted to.
My first destination of the day was at Bau House Dog Café in Hapjeong. It’s really close to exit 3 of the station (less than 5 minutes).
When I went in, I was greeted immediately by at least 5 dogs. They had a small area for smaller dogs and a big area for bigger dogs. I went straight to the big area because of the golden retrievers!!! Sat down, ordered a drink and realised that there were at least 20 dogs in that place omg *__*
Their policy is that you can stay for the first 30minutes free, and thereafter 1,500 won for subsequent 30 minutes. Otherwise, order any drink and you can stay for as long as you like. Their drinks ranged from 7,000 - 9,000 won. Got an iced Rosemary tea for 7,000 won, and it was a tea bag tea so.. lol. They also sell treats for the dogs, but I have no idea how much a packet costs. The treats are really useful because once you are holding a pack, 70% of the dogs will swarm to you.
A few of the dogs I really liked:
This Pomeranian who is really calm and will stay in your embrace until he/she sees a familiar staff or food...
This Terrier (?) who loves to stand on his/her two feet when someone is holding on to food. And he/she will keep doing so until fed. So adorable!!
This black poodle who was a little afraid of the bigger dogs and would tremble when they approach. He/she takes a while to warm up to you but once he/she does, he/she will stay by your side for a long time, and will even sit on your lap, letting you stroke him/her.
Most of the other dogs are really greedy for food and will run away more than stay.
But the good thing about them is that they will randomly hop onto your seat or the seat beside/opposite you, allowing you to be close to them or to pet them.
The bigger dogs sit/lie around a lot so they are easy to approach and touch. Meanwhile, the smaller ones love running around and playing so you’ll have to be quick to catch them for a photo.
Stayed there for HOURS before leaving for yeouido park.
Which was just a small park used by the locals for a stroll with their dogs or to just sit around.
I was there mainly to get to the Yeouido Hangang Park, that was right beside the Han River!
There were lots of things happening at the park.
A lot of picnics, camp sites, cyclists and even a Hangang Summer Festival (although I wasn’t sure what this festival consisted of as I don’t understand the sign).
I even spotted a few KBS vans! Sadly, no idols and I had no idea what they were for either..
Strolling along the river was quite therapeutic. Looking at the nature, that is the river, being surrounded by skyscrapers, at the Koreans, relaxing and enjoying their day, at the not so clear but slow flowing waters.
Crossed the river via the Seogang bridge, which cuts through Han Gang Bam Seom, one of the many small “lands” in the river.
Reached home with a ton of blisters from my new shoe but happy to be back after a day doing things I wanted to and having some me time.
Cooked some soba for dinner, packed and left for my friend’sapartment at myeongdong!
Everland tomorrow, can’t wait!!! but weather... Please be nice T_T

09.07.17
Eating and shopping and more eating
Started the day when it was already 4pm because of last night’s adventures.
Woke up and went back to sleep and ended up waking at 4pm hahaha. Missed gwangjang market because I was late so I met the rest at Gwanghwamun.
Walked around Bukchon Hanok just to see the famous street that everyone takes their ootd at and died because of the hills and the heat.
Stopped for bingsu
Ewha famous cheap comestics shop.
Banana milk for 900won.
Had a great Italian dinner, though it was on the expensive side but we could share 2 person’s serving so it was great.
We wrapped up our day thereafter because the rain didn’t stop.

SeoulSearching Day 22 Part 2
Here’s a separate post for the rest of the night so that this part doesn’t get mixed up with SMTOWN lol.
Went to a drinking place near Cindy’s place that she frequents called Dong Nae Oppa (Neighbourhood Brother) haha. A few of the staff actually recognises her so I’m not kidding when I said it was frequent.
