What is the current status of KOSA? As of last night, 2024-04-20, this is what congress.gov had to say about it:
Tumblr media
I'm seeing lots of posts fearmongering about how it's passed the Senate and is now in the House.
I've seen coordinated attacks against the democratic process over the past 8+ years. It would not surprise me in the least to learn that this might be part of a coordinated attack to get us to let up pressure on our Senators, letting them think that we're suddenly okay with it.
Please remember that Tumblr can just as easily be used to spread misinformation as Twitter or Facebook or Instagram or TikTok. Check authoritative sources.
What I would do? Call your senators, your representative, and the White House switchboard to leave comments on pending legislation.
The government website says it's still in the Senate. Call your senators to oppose it as a current issue.
Call your representative to oppose it as a heads-up to ensure they are aware of it and your opposition.
Call the White House to ensure that President Biden knows not to sign it if it crosses his desk.
Former President Trump already destroyed 50 years of women's rights, and presided over the initial hysteria of the anti-trans groups. He appointed enough justices to the Supreme Court that we're guaranteed social regression until at least two conservative justices retire and are replaced with new Ruth Bader Ginsbergs. He and the GOP (he is basically synonymous with the GOP, after Laura was elected as co-chair) have done a huge amount of damage to our ways of life and our ability to address climate change and global warming. We need to say that enough is enough, and that they won't deprive us of our abilities to discuss the topics they find uncomfortable and want to prevent any kids from hearing about in any online spaces their kids could possibly stumble into.
OUR LIVES AND EXISTENCE AND CULTURE ARE NOT POLITICAL PAWNS TO BE BARTERED AWAY IN BACKROOM DEALS.
We must stand united, or divided we shall surely perish.

Eh. Not specifically very proud of this but yk. Anthro Ghidorah uh
I thought it would’ve been really funny if Ichi suffered from “shorter older brother syndrome.”
In high school everyone thought Ni was the oldest and Ichi was the youngest and were shocked when they found it that wasn’t the case. Ni constantly called Ichi “Little brother” cuz it’s silly. Ichi can still beat Ni’s ass in combat, even though he doesn’t look like it.
The Ghidorah siblings live in Godzilla’s basement. Goji used to kick them out every other month and now they kinda just live there. Ichi works at a gas station, Ni (constantly tries to) robs that same gas station, San is jobless. They all steal Goji’s clothes constantly.

Small reminder to stay calm even if the bill does get approved tomorrow.
Remember, the bill still has a very long way to go before it becomes an official law all around the U.S., and even if it does get to the president, there will be a very long 18 month time-frame where we can fight as much as we possibly can in order for it to be revoked (remember all of the other laws and bills in the past that got revoked because of protests).
Listen, I get that you're scared. I get that you're scared of losing everything that you've worked for, and that's okay. But thinking that it's all over by tomorrow if it gets approved is not a very good mindset to have. Remember, the reason why it hasn't gotten approved yet is because we've all been speaking out against it and refusing to back down even when it seems hopeless. Be optimistic. Be confident in everyone around you working with you in order to succeed in not letting these terrible bills pass.
It's not just KOSA you should be fighting against either. There are many bills like the recent FISA ACT and the Earn It Act that are also threats to our rights. Please advocate against those just as much as you've done for KOSA. Let's fight for our futures together as one.
Thank you, and have a good day/afternoon/night. Don't lose hope now!

KOSA
Okay, KOSA. This bill will shut one of the most important tools and resources that the queer youth and all queer in general use to find people like them. Find comfort, advice, safety.
Not just that. It will silence all of us who are fighting the suffering and genocide around the world, from Palestine to Papua. And also cut off funding and awareness.
So please. Talk and post about it. To all you know, to every platform. Sign petitions, educate yourself about it, spread awareness, fax reps, email reps, mail reps, call reps. Fight tooth and nail to stop it. We did it before, we will do it again.
Fax for free here
And lastly, use this copypaste to easily put tags in your posts:
kosa, stop kosa, kosa bill, kids online safety act, fuck kosa, usa, us, censorship, us politics

So the anti KOSA discord I'm apart of is doing a large anti KOSA call in tomorrow. Where we call our Representatives and tell them to say no to KOSA. You can call through badinternetbills.com. This bill concerns everyone online and may lead to the dissolving of all of your favorite spaces online if you don't speak up and out against it
For more information on what KOSA is:

2010s Black Tumblr didn't die organically. It was killed. Not just by staff, not just by the porn ban, but by the white userbase as well. Black bloggers were (and still are) being mass-reported and harassed off the platform constantly. White Tumblr users would post gore in problack tags, racefake left and right in Black people's askbox, pick random AAVE to call racist/misogynistic/transphobic, etc then get the Black people who were nice enough to explain what it means to them mass reported for harassment, the list goes on.

I am uploading the first chunk of the graphics asking people to go contact their senators, in case I don't get the last 4 done in time to post all of them before Senate votes on KOSA, I will edit this post with the rest of the graphics later, for now, please feel free to share and repost these wherever you like, no credit needed, the goal is awareness of the bill first and foremost.

I don't think we will stop Kosa Bill. Everyone says we can stop it, but I don't think we can stop it..Senators and the government will still pass the bill.
Listen, we ourselves are afraid that they will pass the bill, but we still continue to fight against it.. We did not give up and did not panic, we still continue to fight. If we didn't do anything, they would have passed the bill a long time ago.
No matter how long they schedule a hearing, they never pass the bill, that's why we're still calling, emailing and faxing the senator, reps and committee.. We're saying we're against it. We're signing the petition.. We're doing everything we can to stop it.
What will happen before or after April 17? Will they pass the bill or set hearing dates again? Idk..I cannot say.
But I will only say one thing:
CALL/EMAIL/FAX THE COMMITTEE AND YOUR REPS AND SENATORS..Keep signing the petition.. Keep saying you are against the Kosa Bill..
Keep Fighting!!!

You're quite welcome.
If you gave each of your Hated Characters a "Reason You Suck" speech, how would you give that kind of speech to each of your most hated foes?
I can't, because it would take me days to type it
Why ? Because I have way too many hated characters, almost as many as favs. Don't believe me ?
Tumblr media
I added 4 more and it's NOT even half of it I think

Adding on from my last post about KOSA:
I know that many people think that if KOSA gets pushed through the Committee vote next Wednesday--April 17th, then the Internet will instantly disappear...It won't. People tend to forget that there are many hoops a bill has to jump through in order to become a law. First, it has to be voted through the Committee, next it goes to the House of Representatives, next the Senate, then it goes back to the House for review, then it goes to the President to sign and even then, it takes about *18 months for it go into effect. **If I recall correctly, it may differ for each state. My point is, It will be a while before we see any real changes...but that doesn't mean we give up!
Tumblr media
Here is the number for the Committee holding the hearing next Wednesday: (202) 225-3641; Call them. Urge the Committee to vote 'NO' to KOSA--as well as the Protecting Kids on Social Media Act (Leave your zip code so it'll count!) Remember: There is much less support for KOSA in the House of Representatives than the Senate. And, of course, Continue to call your Senators & your House Representative! Can't find your reps? This handy site lets you look them up via your address: https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member
Please spread this around as well. Don't panic. The only reason KOSA hasn't passed yet is because people have been vocal about it. Keep calling! Keep making noise!
Stay strong & keep fighting!
