Does anyone have tips for helping to stop drinking? I’ve been coming to terms with the fact that I self medicate with alcohol far too often and too much because of my anxiety, depression, and PTS. I’ve been noticing health problems as a result and I know I’ve probably done some real damage, which is super overwhelming to think about because I’m so young and I’m scared I’ve fucked up my body for good. So... any advice or hope to offer would be appreciated! The thought of AA is super intimidating to me (also the God stuff kinda freaks me out because #gay) but I definitely know I probably need to go sober soon or else I’m going to die very young which is like... one of those things that you know is a possibility but doesn’t feel real until you open your eyes to how far gone you are.

So yeah. I need help but the only person I told about my possible alcoholism was my rape crisis counselor and she was like “hazardous coping mechanisms are normal responses to trauma” so I was like cool cool this is normal (but also like...I’m killing myself, so maybe that should have been a bigger topic during therapy...?) anyway I’m in a bad way and I don’t have a counselor anymore because you’re only allowed two semesters of university-provided therapy so... yeah
