two of the people in my house are showing secondary covid symptoms so none of us who work outside the house can go to work. which means we’re down a paycheck for a bit on top of already being stretched pretty thin. so i’m opening up commissions to try to save up a bit for groceries and ppe and such. please, if you can’t commission me, boost this.

so! some stuff! talk about covid stuff under the cut

my roommate is showing secondary symptoms of covid which means neither of my two roommates who work not at home can.... go to work. which means we’re down a paycheck (one has paid sick time left, the other doesn’t bc they’ve already been through this song and dance once before and used it up). which means i’m super super stressed about money because we’re ALREADY hurting for grocery money.

plus, 3 of the 5 people who live here (myself included) are immunocompromised and are at high risk if we contract covid. so im freaking out a little. which might actually make me MORE active here, ironically. distractions.

tim’s  first  thought  is  ‘which  one’  but  he  manages  to  keep  that  one  to  himself.  he  knows  that  he’s  a  little  atypical,  that  most  people  don’t  find  just  about  everyone  attractive,  but  he  thinks  maybe  it’s  part  of  his  charm.  it  does  mean  he  has  a  bad  habit  of  getting  crushes  on  a  good  75%  of  the  people  in  his  life  and,  as  basira  puts  it,  being  ‘desperate  to  please’.  he  thinks,  maybe,  she’s  talking  about  charlie  from  research  who’d  swung  down  to  the  archives  to  ask  him  to  drinks  with  some  of  the  old  crew  on  friday.  

they  really  are  pretty,  with  hazel  eyes  that  sparkle  when  they  get  excited  about  their  research  and  brown  hair  that  curls  across  their  forehead  adorably.  tim  feels  heat  rise  in  his  cheeks  as  he  realizes  he’s  drifted,  thinking  about  his  ‘hot  friend’  again.  he  clears  his  throat.

     A  FROWN  CROSSES  HIS  face  as  he  looks  back  at  tim .    ❝  and  you  think  i  would  be  the  best  choice ?  ❞    he  quirks  an  eyebrow .  anakin  doubts  he  even  has  to  say  it ,  but  —    ❝  you  know  this  is  a  bad  idea ,  right ?  frankly ,  it's  almost  as  bad  as  some  of  your  other  ideas .  the  ones  that've  almost  gotten  us  killed .  ❞    he  doesn't  quite  understand  why  tim  couldn't  just  admit  that  he  wasn't  seeing  anyone  —  but  then ,  his  relationship  with  his  parents  seems  to  be  fraught  with  tension  in  ways  that  anakin  would  never  be  able  to  understand .  (  when  his  mother  was  alive ,  she  was  beyond  supportive  of  every  decision  he  made ,  excluding  staying  awake  far  past  his  bedtime  tinkering .  and  as  for  obi - wan  —  they're  more  brothers  than  father  and  son ,  closer  to  equals  due  to  the  circumstances  that  led  to  their  placement  after  shmi’s  death .  )  anakin  shakes  his  head ,  sighs .    ❝  look ,  obviously  you  need  help ,  and  i'm  nothing  if  not  helpful ,  so .  .  .  okay .  alright .  fine .  ❞

tim  crosses  his  arms  over  his  chest,  looking  distinctly  uncomfortable.  he’d  rather  ask  anyone  but  anakin.  jon  would  probably  be  a  better  choice  than  anakin.  but  unfortunately,  he’s  burned  most  of  those  bridges.  some  quite  literally.  so  he’s  left  begging  for  help  from  his  reluctant  partner  in  saving  the  world.  ❛  i  wouldn’t  ask  you  if  i  had  anyone  else,  ❜  he  mutters.  ❛  it  shouldn’t  be  too  hard.  it’s  just  dinner.  ❜  just  dinner.  with  his  parents.  bound  to  be  incredibly  awkward.  he  figures  it  will  go  one  of  two  ways:  incessant  questioning  about  his  life  and  relationship  or  awkward  silence.  he  doesn’t  know  which  one  he’s  hoping  for.  

shoulders  relax  when  anakin  agrees  and  tim  lets  out  a  breath  he  hadn’t  known  he  was  holding.  ❛  okay.  good.  thank  you.  c’mon,  we’re  going  to  a  park.  for  pictures.  gotta  make  this  look  as  real  as  possible.  ❜

“Lovely to see you again, Mister Stoker. How was your trip?” Elias had pushed for more relaxed gardening techniques on the tower grounds; the northwestern Temple of Beholding had such carefully-cultivated gardens, with geometric lawn designs and neat rows of bursting flowers, but Elias had argued that allowing things to grow more naturally instead of clipping away constantly at what plants they introduced would encourage diversity – and, therefore, there would be more to observe. He liked inviting guests into the garden to see what they gravitated towards. Would it be the foxglove? The oleander? Or perhaps the azalea? Perhaps he would press a few flowers to send with Jon on his journey. To remind him of home.

❛  as  well  as  can  be  expected.  ❜  tim  gives  elias  bouchard  a  pleasant  smile  before  letting  his  attention  drift  to  the  garden.  wild  growth  spills  over  the  paths,  native  flowers  mixed  in  with  the  ones  deliberately  planted  in  explosions  of  color.  his  eyes  skip  entirely  over  the  planted  flowers  and  instead  catch  on  a  patch  of  low  growing  blue  flowers.  germander  speedwells.  technically  a  weed  but  almost  impossible  to  get  rid  of  once  they  start  growing.  yellow  flowers  border  the  patch,  daffodils  that  clearly  spread  from  the  other  side  of  the  garden.  his  smile  goes  a  little  more  genuine.  tim  loves  the  gardens  here.  loves  the  way  they  grow  nearly  wild.  much  prettier  than  the  over-groomed  gardens  in  most  places  like  this.  

❛  it’s  good  to  see  you  again  as  well,  sir.  you  mentioned  work  ??  ❜  word  from  elias  always  means  work.  usually  well  paying  and  interesting  work,  too.  which  is  why  tim  drops  most  anything  to  travel  down  to  work  for  him.
