Well I finally decided to start a blog to document my writing. I've always been bad at sharing my achievements with people, so I'm hoping this will boost my confidence as an artist.

About me

You can call me Poppy (she/her), 20s

I write gothic fiction, historical fantasy, and horror

Themes I enjoy: nature, the occult, platonic love, madness

At the moment, I have 2 WIPs that I will be posting about, and many other plot-bunnies that may pop up from time to time

My favourite book is The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Project Title: A Pocket Of Moons

A Victorian Gothic fairytale following the friendship between a painter and her muse, a werewolf. Their bond is put into jeopardy, however, when our werewolf is indoctrinated into a cult of others like him, led by a mysterious human, and he begins to lose his sanity. Think Wolfwalkers meets Midsommar but with the atmosphere of Frankenstein.

As of writing, I have one or two editing rounds until this is up for beta

Project Title: The Evening Rain's Applause

1930s noir horror. We follow the ghost of a disgraced orchestra violinist as he tries to discover the identity of the stranger who turned up his funeral. He is lead into a huge web of occult mysteries as he digs into a harrowing personal history he never knew he had.

This is still in the early stages, but I'm already deeply obsessed with it

Thank you for the tag, @johnbly! And not to worry, I have a 10+ history of writing fanfic so this will be a good time!

1. how many total works do you have on ao3? 14 (+18 on FFN that I didn't crosspost)

2. what’s your total ao3 word count? 44,447

3. what fandoms do you write for? My current fics are for the HBO war fandom, POTC, but I've published a fair amount for Inuyasha and Wednesday as well (they're just not currently on my writing radar). To a lesser extent, LOTR/The Hobbit, Les Mis, and The Hunger Games.

4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?

5. do you respond to comments? Almost always

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? It's a toss up between The Rubicon and The Girl Before France

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably Such Great Heights...It's definitely the fluffiest so I think that counts.

8. do you get hate on fics? No, my readers have all been very nice.

9. do you write smut? No. I have some steamy scenes but I'd rate them M but not E, if that helps.

10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written? No. Maybe I will for the HBO war shows.

11. have you had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.

12. have you had a fic translated? No

13. have you ever co-written a fic? No

14. what's your all-time favorite ship? No how do I choose??? I'm split between Anakin x Padme or Sesshomaru x adult!Rin

15. what's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Between Heaven and Earth 😭

16. what are your writing strengths? Based on what my friend has indicated, imagery, fluffy/romantic scenes, and dialogue. I'd agree, I really like describing emotions, internally or externally, so I guess that lines up.

17. what are your writing weaknesses? Oof action scenes, big time. It's so hard for them not to sound clunky to me.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'm not fluent enough in any language to even try.

19. first fandom you wrote for? The Infernal Devices when I was in eighth grade, and I will not be linking that fic lol

20. favorite fic you've written? It's not complete, but I really do love Where Paradise Died and Lived so much. It's an entirely self-indulgent fix-it fic, but I'm also legitimately really proud of a lot of my writing in it. Edphie my loves!!
