I understood your frustration when people wouldn’t stop asking about when it was coming out, and I had thought one too many people had gotten on your nerves about it. It was sad but i understood. For the actors AU, how famous are the siblings? Is it like recognized whenever they go out or do the different siblings have different levels of public recognition?

This is a really good question !

In terms of "fame" they're all known in a way. They're nepo babies so that's pretty much a given. But since they all have different preferences in their careers, some are more famous than others.

Dream and Desire I would say are the most famous siblings. Dream more so than Desire (which irritates them to NO end).

Death and Delirium come close but they're more well known in the theater scene. Delirium is stuck in a lot of people's minds as that child from that one very popular sitcom back in the day that she tries desperately to erase from memory.

Destiny is the eldest and most WELL KNOWN but he's not as clamored over or bothered by fans as the others. He's built a solid career as a respected producer/director/writer.

Despair is a voice actor and quit acting in front of the camera in her early twenties. People recognize her voice more than her face.

Destruction is recognizable but people only end up putting two and two together when he says smth about his family. He's the least likely to be followed around by paparazzi and shit.

Hob can't help but think...

Does Dream love him for him or for the image of Hob he created?

For Hob is the picture perfect hero – handsome and chivalrous and completely enamored with the damsel in distress. The life they have is a fairytale that could put every Disney Princess to shame. In the Dreaming, they're a power couple. They're untouchable in every way.

They're perfect.

But when Hob opens his eyes and comes back to the Waking World, things are different.

Their life is far from perfect. Dream picks arguments that Hob feels so tempted to let slide. But he fights back. He pulls when Dream pushes. He's found himself resenting when it rains because that's when Dream leaves him in anger.

He was warned long ago. To love one of the Endless is a death wish. To love Dream of the Endless in itself was a one way ticket to a tragic ending.

But Hob Gadling is more stubborn than any universe-altering higher power there may be.

So he tries. And Dream, in time, tries harder to not let him go.

After one of their arguments, there would be periods of silence where Hob waits for Dream to come back. He would feel the couch cushions dip next to him and Dream would be there, remorseful and apologetic. He'll say that Hob doesn't deserve him. That Hob would do better to no longer love him even if it would hurt.

The only thing that matters to Hob is that Dream is trying to make things right. Trying to atone for everything he has done to hurt Hob. Because what is his life for if not to forgive and to grow into better people? What is his immortality for if not to reach out to the Dream King and remind him what exactly he should be living for?

They're not perfect. They're not a fairytale come true. They're messy and angry and filled with lifetimes' worth of fire. But a raging fire can be tamed too.

All it takes is the strength and the willingness to try again.

There's a part of Hob that thinks this place is vaguely familiar.

The details are a little too hazy, blurring at the edges of this reality he's found himself in. It's comforting, yes, but strange. He touches the grass and feels the morning dew. He sits on a small hill, beneath a tree so tall he can't even begin to see the top.

The wind greets him with a kiss. Its calming breeze brushes against his cheeks with the whisper of a giggle in the air. It blows through his hair, gentle as a mother's caress. He lays down, a picnic blanket materializing beneath him, and he turns his head to see starlit eyes staring back at him.

"You're early," He says, turning to face him properly. His stranger chuckles. The sound holds Hob hostage in his own heart.

"I no longer want to keep you waiting."

Hob smiles and scoots closer to bury his face into Dream's neck. Long arms wrap around him and keep him close.

Hob sighs, content to stay here forever.
