What can change us

If only he apologised. If only he didn’t open his mouth. If only he didn’t hurt her. If only he could stay alive to see her one last time. The blood pooled around him as the boys were crying their eyes out. He wanted to go back in time to fix everything. But where would he begin? Where to start? Her? Senjuro? His father? Darkness was threatening to overcome him. No, not yet. Not until his wish was fulfilled.

Prologue:

In her eyes

Ruka could only watch from the clouds as her sons succumbed to sadness. Her once-beloved husband had turned bitter and cruel towards their lovely children. Seeing her sons grow with little hope for their futures broke her heart. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and months to years. The seasons changed and so did her family. Her husband was utterly pathetic, and her youngest was diligent yet shy. And her oldest was broken. She watched as Kyojuro swung his sword, and trained till he couldn’t anymore. “Father, I will be on my way to take a break”. Shinjuro didn’t respond. The young Mizunoe waltzed off and out of the estate. He felt the glares of the other 16-year-olds trailing his body. He didn’t care anymore, he just couldn’t. He kept that signature golden smile as he followed into the valleys. The spring flowers looked gorgeous after the rain and his favourite cherry blossom tree was in full bloom. The branch where he sat and studied his family history was wide open, so why not take advantage of the quiet? He sat on the tough tree branch and put his feet up comfortably. This was his one get away from the life he lived.

But something wasn’t right. Something felt different here. Was Makoto here to poke at his hair or say something about his mother again? No. It wasn’t his aura, but someone was there. “Show yourself! Whoever you are, if you are here to fight you don’t know who you're messing with. He looked up at nothing but cherry blossoms. What if he turned aroun- “Hey there. Boy, that hair colour is interesting! Wait your a demon slayer too!”. Rengoku fell back and almost fell off. He reopened his eyes to see, an upside-down girl. She was hanging upside down from the top branches. “W-what is the meaning of this intrusion”. He questioned in frustration. He just came to read, and now a weirdo was hanging upside down. “Intrusion? Ohhhhh. You think you were here first. Honestly don’t blame ya, the cherry blossoms are good at hiding things! I’ve been here for the past half an hour”. Great someone came here before him. “Is something wrong, you seem angry. Did I take your space!? I’m sorry mister! I was just up to here-“. “Leave.”. The sudden stern voice caught the girl off guard. “Well someone woke up with an attitude! I was gonna say, what if I stay up there, out of sight? And you stay down here. That way we both get the tree, your highness.”.

Rengoku did not get this girl. This was his tree, he came here for peace and quiet. “You know what fine, but we under no circumstances talk.”. Okay. So he was a bit of a jerk when he had no patience. But. Y/n had the patience to go around. “Alrighty I stay up here then and you, do whatever you're doing. Cool?”. “Cool”. “Great”, “super”, “lovely”, “magical”, “exquisite”, “fantastical”, “SUPERCALIFAGILISTICEXPIALIDOIOUS”! Rengoku looked up at the girl who sounded like she spewed nonsense. “What?”. “Boy picks up a good book, the front title of yours literally says purgatory”. Rengoku was taken back for a second. “You understand?”. “煉獄, the kanji says, Rengoku. Meaning purgatory. Quite an interesting book title”. An idea sparked into Rengoku’s brain. “Hey, would you like to read it for a while? And could you tell me what it means?”. The girl turned to face the boy. “I certainly could, but under 2 conditions”. Oh great, an arrangement. “Alright let’s hear it”. Rengoku said reluctantly. “Number 1 you have to also read my book, and number 2 you have to be my friend from now on”. Rengoku was taken back again. This was an odd girl he was talking to. She wasn’t like Yuki or Tsutsuji. They were pretty porcelain dolls, and they looked down on him. But this girl was strange, but good things could come from this. “Alright, I accept. My name is Rengoku Kyojuro!”. He held out his hand to her gesturing for a handshake. “My name is Yua Hasegawa! Pleasure to meet you, your highness”. Oh great, a nickname, but Rengoku was actually happy about this arrangement. But Ruka could only watch from the clouds, and she had plans.

Was this parental accomplishment, because this felt good? Her son was finally able to make a friend, but he was still broken. Kyojuro entered the house and took his sandals off. Afterwards heading To his room as quietly as he could, past the alcoholic wall as he and his brother liked to call it. That one wall held so many bad memories, with their father throwing his sake at them, and them almost nearly missing them. Only a few times had Kyojuro been actually hit. Luckily not at his face, and he was always just fine afterwards, he kept his head held high even when his father acted out this way. His younger brother on the other hand was in constant fear of the alcoholic wall. he was the one who cooked and cleaned and brought food and drinks to his father, he was in constant danger of getting hit, or getting a bottle thrown at him. Thankfully he was small, so his father always missed him. But it was still scary for a ten-year-old. "Brother! Welcome home!". Senjuro ran to his elder brother, giving him the cutest bear hug imaginable. "How was your break? Were you able to decipher the texts?". "Not yet! But one day that will happen, and when that does happen I'll be able to master the 9th flame breathing form!". Kyojuro was always truly happy around his brother, seeing him gave him the means to keep going on. "Hey, Kyojuro. Do you mind taking this to father instead?". Kyojuro looked down at the delicious display of food. "I know I sound cowardly, but I j-just". it broke his heart to see Senjuro cry, and because of the fear, he had for his own father!? "Don't you worry, as usual, our father will enjoy his meal!".

With that Rengoku strutted to this father's secluded darkroom. After deep breaths and a prayer to his mother, he's ready to go inside. Ruka follows in, ready to protect him spiritually. "Father! I have bought your dinner please enjoy". Rengoku waited patiently for his father's response. Only to get a flying sake bottle that almost hit his head. "What are ya waitin for? A giss on your cheek". He slurred drunkenly. "get outta here before I puke". This was sadly the norm in the Rengoku household. Ruka could only watch from the clouds, but she had plans.

Ruka had sought counsel from Hotei 布袋, one of the 7 Gods of luck, and the God of happiness and abundance. He could grant anyone's wishes. But Ruka needed to give to God something in return. Daikoku was always surrounded by hundreds of thousands of offerings. The most noticeable thing about him was his laughs and the children he played with. Ruka had been preparing for this day for a while. Her offering was a single Momirobara 桃色バラ. A single pink rose. Now the pink rose wasn't rare, but the meaning behind it was something she wanted dearly for her children. The pink rose symbolizes happiness. She tried to bring happiness to her children and husband. It wasn't too late for them to find happiness. But they needed that extra push. She gracefully approached Hotei's pedestal and was ready to ask him a favour. "My humble God with this offering I ask of you a single wish". She rested the pink rose at God's feet. All of a sudden, wait, is that, laughter? A considerable laugh came from the Gods statue making Ruka bow as respectively as she could. He had awoken and skipped down to pick up the rose and kiss it. "My dear, this is the loveliest of roses, I have ever had the pleasure to hold. But hold on". Hontei kept holding the rose. "This is not everlasting. It will die, explain yourself, woman!".

Ruka took a deep breath and answered. "Do you know why people give each other flowers?". Hotei gasped as he realised what she trying to say. "Flowers the epitome of human life. They start as buds, growing into playful sprouts, blossoming into a beautiful flower that can spread its pollen just like people spread their influences, and finally just like me, they wither and die. But their spirits live on. My humblest apologies that this is not an everlasting rose. But the meaning behind it is so much more". God fully appreciated Ruka's wisdom, and she had passed his test. "My dear, I can hear your heart. And it's telling me that the wish isn't for you. But for someone else?". Ruka took another deep breath and began her favour. "My lord my children are suffering, they have no hopes for their futures. And my once-beloved husband has turned his back on our children. They have both grown so much, but I worry. I ask of you to please grant them both a wish and guide each". "A guide as well?". "I apologise for asking for this much. But my children don't have any role models to help them through life. Both need that extra help". The God brought up his sphere to look at the broken family and sighed. "It breaks my heart to see children sad. I will grant your wish, my dear! But the moment the wish come true their guide will disappear. Two of my own children will see your sons in their dreams, and grant your wishes.". Ruka was happy that her wish was granted, both her children were in for a surprise tonight.

Ruka could only watch from the clouds as her sons succumbed to sadness. Her once-beloved husband had turned bitter and cruel towards their lovely children. It broke her heart to see her sons grow with little hopes for their futures. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and months to years. The seasons changed and so did her family. Her husband was completely pathetic, her youngest was diligent yet shy. And her oldest was broken. She watched as Kyojuro swung his sword, and trained till he couldn’t anymore. “Father, I will be on my way to take a break”. Shinjuro didn’t respond. 🔥Okay so the first date Kyojurou he definitely wants to take you somewhere special.

🔥 “A festival?”. “Yea! What do you think?”. “I love it”. “Great I’ll pick you up 5”. Rengoku ran off blushing. “BUT WE LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE!”.

🔥Rengoku was very excited. This was your first date and everything needed to be perfect. Rengoku wore the nicest kimono he could find.

🔥Rengoku waited for you to get ready. And of course, he was excited to see your beauty. And when you gracefully walked out of your room wearing the kimono you chose, Rengoku thought he was going on a date with a Goddess.

🔥 “Wow you look amazing”. “And you look handsome, so where shall we?”. “Yes we should leave. SENJURO STAY INSIDE AND SAFE OKAY”. “YUP, HAVE FUN ON YOUR DATE!”. With that Rengoku took your hand as you both started walking towards the lights and the noises in the night.

🔥As you and Rengoku walked through the festivities you could feel a warm feeling in your chest. “I planned 3 surprises for us tonight”. “Ooooooooo, we’ll I’m happy with anything you give me”. “I’m that case let’s go to the first surprise”.

🔥Rengoku grabbed your hand and you both excitedly started to run through the crowd until you both reach a small restaurant. “AH RENGOKU GOOD TO SEE YOU!”. “GOOD TO SEE YOU TO MR. TACHIBANA”. “AND YOU BOUGHT A FRIEND, SIT DOWN AND I’LL GIVE’YA BOTH THE SPECIAL”.

🔥No doubt you were confused at first but the food smelt so good.

🔥 “RENGOKU HERE SAVED MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTERS LIFE, SO FOR HIS KIND DEED EVERY TIME HE COMES HERE HE AND HIS FRIENDS EATS FREE”. “That’s amazing! Then again what can I expect from the most amazing person alive!”. “It's really nothing, it's just my duty as a hashira!”.

🔥You and Rengoku enjoyed the food, laughed and had you both were able to talk to each other. The more you talked the more he fell in love with you.

🔥 “That was delicious, I am so glad you bought me here”. “Hey, the night is still young, and I have 2 more surprises in store. But first let’s go see the carnival events”. “RIGHT!”. “HAVE FUN LOVEBIRDS!”.

🔥You both ran through the carnival and looked through all the fascinating stands.

🔥 “Hi there, you guys seem like a lovely couple. I’ll you a deal, buy 2 products for the price of 1.”. “Perfect!”. Rengoku took a beautiful hair ornament. “You look absolutely stunning!”. “Thank you, Kyo. Hmmmmm, which one would be good for you?”. You noticed a gold pendant with the words “永遠にあなたの私の愛”. (You're my love forever). “This one is perfect!”. “Oooooooo yesssss, that will be 30 yen please". Rengoku got his wallet out of his pocket and gave the stand owner the money. “Enjoy the purchases and have a lovely night!”. “Thank you!”. Rengoku loved the pendant around his neck. He held your hand and the pendant in the other, he couldn’t stop loving the perfect details.

🔥 “Alright! Time for surprise number 2!”. Rengoku picked you up in bridal style and ran so fast you were almost hyperventilating so you closed your eyes and buried your head into Rengoku’s shoulder. When you open your eyes you see that he had taken you to a hill above the festivities so you could see the lights and sounds from below.

🔥 "How do you think?". You looked at the small mat in front of you. It was beautifully decorated, and the surroundings were lit with gorgeous lanterns to create a romantic atmosphere. "I love it. How long did it take to set this all up?". "Never mind that, let's sit down the show is about to start!". Kyoujurou gestured as he sat down. You did as he asked and sat down. Your confusion and curiosity were answered the moment you heard a loud bang followed by fireworks. You sat down and gently put your head against the flame hashira's shoulder. He went to hold your hand, and you both admired the different patterns and colours of fireworks in the sky. (not me listening to one direction while writing this).

🔥You couldn't help but love how much Rengoku was doing for you. You loved your new hair ornament, you loved the amount of effort he put into making this night perfect. And you couldn't help but love the way he held you during fireworks, you felt so lucky to be loved by such a wonderful man.

🔥The fireworks ended on a beautiful note with heart-shaped fireworks in different colours. "That was absolutely beautiful". "I agree, though not as beautiful as you, it defiantly was a sight to see". You placed your hand on Rengoku's head to ruffle his soft locks of hair. "Oh stop you!". You and Rengoku were laughing as he jumped on you to hug you only for it to turn into a tickle fight. "Alright! Alright! I yield, let me catch my breath". Rengoku look at your blushing face as you were trying to settle your nerves from the laughs. He admired your smiling face and happy tear spiling from yours. Rengoku went to wipe your eyes as you both stood up. "Come now Y/N, I have one more surprise in store for you". "The first two surprises made my day Kyoujurou, what you have next I'm sure will be the best surprise.

(Ya'll need to get ready for some cliché Disney scene)

🔥Rengoku again took you in his arms and ran to a new location. He covered your eyes right before you could see where you were. "Kyojurou where are we?". You giggled. "Just wait love, I want this last surprise to be special". You were confused, everything about this night was perfect. But you didn't judge his way of doing things. As Rengoku lifted his hands, you see a lake and a boat with a small lantern on it. "I hope you don't get seasick, this is the last surprise". "It's so cute". You admired the small features of the boat before climbing on.

🔥Rengoku rowed you both out to the middle of the lake where you could both see the fireflies swarming the water. Their lights were flickering and moving. When the boat had stopped moving Rengoku took your hands in his. "Y/N, these last few months with you have been a huge relief and joy. You've given me a space to get away from my father's manipulative words and taunts. And for that, I am grateful to be with you". "It is honestly a pleasure being able to help my teacher and friends". "Y/N on the train, you know we shared dreams, and I said I wanted to act on it, and I am a man of my word. Y/N, you have been the best support, and I want to use the rest of my life to repay your kindness. Y/N, will you give me the honour of being your life partner?". You were expecting this, but dang, every word was sweet and sincere. You couldn't help but wonder how such a man as wonderful as Kyoujurou could love you. That stupid E/N had taken him for granted for too long, no way you were going to do the same! "YES, I LOVE YOU KYOUJUROU, I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU KYOUJUROU". You couldn't help but shout to the heavens, you went in to hug Rengoku making the boat rock. Rengoku returned the hug with tears in his eyes. The hug lasted for 6 minutes. The hug broke and you went in to hold Rengoku's cheek, which he happily allowed. Rengoku's face started to get closer to yours, closer and closer until your lips were almost touching his. You both went in for a passionate kiss, it felt so warm as you felt his embrace.

🔥Once you both got to shore Rengoku took you in bridal style one last time and started to run at supersonic speed to your home.

🔥When you both got back home you decided to go check on Senjurou, to find he was sleeping comfortably. Rengoku held you while you both admired the sleeping child. This was your life now and this was his. And there is nothing you both would do to replace this life.

🔥Rengoku started dating E/N when he was about 14.

🔥She was verbally abusing Kyojurou telling him how useless he was and telling him no one else would be willing to be in a relationship with him.

🔥We all know how Shinjuro treated Kyojurou. If I’m being honest Shinjuro took a liking to E/N because she “kept Kyojurou in line”.

🔥Kyojurou would definitely need someone to talk to because he would constantly get belittled by his father. E/N just made it worse to the point where his self esteem went pummelling down.

🔥Shinjuro wants Kyojurou to propose to E/N when he and she are older because Shinjuro got along with E/N.

🔥Rengoku and E/N kept dating for 4 years (Kyojurou is 18 now while E/N is also 18)

🔥The breaking point is when Kyojurou caught E/N telling Senjuro that he was the reason Ruka (Rengoku’s mother) died

🔥 “Your father told me that your mother died due to a sickness she got after you were born. Maybe it would’ve been better if you died in the womb”. “Please. Hik. St-stop”. “It’s good you don’t remember her, she probably hated you for what you did to her”.

🔥 “HOW DARE YOU SAY SUCH A THING TO SENJURO!”. Saying that Kyojurou was mad would be an understatement. “WE ARE DONE AND YOU ARE TO NEVER COME BACK HERE DO UNDERSTAND!” “What did you say? We’re done? HA! DARLING WE’RE NOT OVER TILL I SAY WE’RE OVER! “I CALL THE SHOTS NOT YOU, DO YOU REALLY THINK YOUR FATHER WOULD LET GET RID OF ME?!”. “I DON’T CARE WHAT HE THINKS! NOT ONLY HAVE YOU TRAUMATISED SENJURO BUT YOU ALSO HAVE BOUGHT SHAME UPON MY MOTHERS NAME! GET OUT!

🔥Of course Shinjuro was not happy “You had someone willing to stay with you. You really can’t do anything right can you”.

🔥Even though Kyojurou tried to explain what E/N had said about Ruka, Shinjuro wouldn’t budge. “HOW DARE YOU TRY TO MAKE SUCH ACCUSATIONS! E/N IS BETTER THEN THAT AND SHE WOULDN’T SAY SUCH THINGS. YOU SHAME ME AND YOUR MOTHER!”

🔥Senjuro heard the whole thing and tried to comfort his brother but nothing worked. Kyojurou was now with a broken self-esteem and a broken heart. (He cried himself to sleep and there were noticeable marks under his eyes).

🔥2 Years later (Rengoku is now 20 and is a hashira) (This is before the Mugen Train event) E/N was still in Kyojurou’s life because of his father. (To her they’re still dating).

🔥This is when Y/N comes into the picture. Y/N is a scout for Lady Tamayo just like Tanjiro. Kyojurou and Y/N meet in mission to defeat a lower moon.

🔥Kyojurou offers to train Y/ N because of her skill. And of course Y/N says yes.

🔥8 months after training with Rengoku, Y/N is now a Kinoe (rank before becoming a Hashira).

🔥 “Remember relax your shoulders, don’t be so tense”. “YES SIR”.

🔥This is when Y/N meets E/N. “Well well well, what do we have here?” “O-oh hi I’m Y/N, Rengoku kuns Tsugoku. Who may you be?” “How dare you give me that attitude I am Kyojurou’s Fiancé!” “You mean Ex girlfriend”.

🔥Do we all know the beginning of the Mugen Train incident? I hope we do because I can not be bothered dot points the events before Y/N, Kyojurou and the Kamaboko squad got on the train so we’re starting from when the Kamaboko Squad gets on the train and hear Rengoku go “UMAI (or if ur a dub person) TASTY”. (Also why can’t dub and dub just- dub🤝sub)

🔥Anyways you thought it would be fun to say Umai as well so you started yelling UMAI with Rengoku.

🔥Rengoku asked tanjiro to sit in front of you and Rengoku

🔥”Have you both heard of the Hinokami Kagura?”. “Hinokami what now?”. “It’s a technique that I learnt from my father when child, and I was able to use it as a fighting technique with fire. So I was wondering if you both know anything about it, you could tell me?”. “I would, but I do not”. “Hah?”. “Sorry kid, it’s the same thing with me. I work with Ice and frost not fire. Though-“. “YOU SHOULD BECOME MY TSUGOKU!”

🔥Rengoku shouted at the top of his lungs. “Hah? What bout me😭?”. Rengoku nuzzled into your shoulder. “Dont worry Y/N you’re my number 1 Tsugoku”. 0//////0.

🔥All of a sudden you and Rengoku felt a strange sensation. You both got up as the conductor came into the room. “We apologise for the weapons, rest assure that they are necessary”. “You feel that?”, “Yes”.

🔥All of a sudden you, Rengoku and the boys heard screaming from the train carriage in front of you. Just then people came screaming through the doors. The boys were confused form the screaming until they saw what followed. A demon. This demon was big. It was ugly but it was also weak.

🔥Without a word you and Rengoku sprang into action. You sliced along the demons large legs and thighs while Rengoku aimed for the arms and head. He swiftly cut the head of in a simple slice. “FROST BREATHING 3RD FORM, WINTERS BITE”. “FLAME BREATHING 2ND FORM RISING SCORCHING SUN”.

🔥”There’s still one more”. “Right, boys stay close to us alright”. “YES MA’M”. “DONT LEAVE ME BEHIND”. “YES WE ACTUALLY GET TO KILL SOMETHING, HAHAHAHAHAHA”.

🔥As you, Rengoku and the boys move forward you hear the piercing scream of an injured boy. “WHAT IS THAT THING ITS ARMS ARE SO FRICKEN LONG”. “INOSUKE DONT MOVE THERES A BYSTANDER”. “LIKE I CARE, HE’LL THANK ME AFTER I SLICE THIS THING INTO OBLIVION”.

🔥Rengoku quickly jumped into take Inosuke out of the fight. While you quickly jumped in and out to save the bystander. “Sir how badly are you injured? Can you walk?”. “I can run”. “GET TO THE BACK OF THE TRAIN WHILE WE HANDLE THE BEAST”. “YES SIR”.

🔥With that Rengoku quickly sliced the demon legs, arms and head off.

🔥Everything seemed at its best. The boys were thrilled when Rengoku said that he was letting them be his Tsugokus. You slowly began to close your eyes to blink. Only to wake up next to Rengoku.

🔥”Good morning Y/N”. “Rengoku? What happened to the train?”. “You had a dream about a train as well?”. “Pretty weird coincidence don’t you think?”. You got up to stretch only to feel a sharp kicking feeling. “Um Y/N?!”. Rengoku looked at you shocked.

🔥You looked down only to see your swollen stomach. You look down blushing along with Rengoku. All of a sudden you hear the sound of kids fighting in the corridors. “MAMA PAPA TOUJUROU TOOK MY HAIR BRUSH AGAIN!”, “DID NOT”. “DID TO”. “JEEZ KEIJUROU ITS JUST A STUPID HAIR BRUSH”.

🔥The face you and Rengoku made was priceless. A mix of overwhelming joy and confusion. “Mama, papa are you awake?”. A small girl came through your doors. She had Rengoku hair and eyes, but she had the same face shape as you. The girl came to you and rested on your stomach, it was like your first instinct was to hold her while gently as she placed her ear against your tummy. “I hear our little sisters moving”. A boy came running into the room. He had Rengoku hair but he had your eyes. “Don’t you mean little brothers sis?”. “Who knows they could be twin brother and sister just like us!”. “Papa are you okay?”. The boys words got your attention to turn to Kyojurou’s face. You could see him smiling with tears down his face.

🔥You grabbed his face to wipe away the tears. “Kyojurou are you alright”. He was quick to hold your hand and kiss it. “I’m alright, love”. Love? ((Is that to cheesy for a pet name, please let me know in the comments)). Kyojurou helped you stand up with the small girl by your side.

🔥”Ah such a lovely dream, such a lovely family. These two lovebirds have a connected dream. To start a family together, I must make it my duty to rip them apart”. Enmu was delighted by the display of love. The thought of killing one of you and leaving the other to mourn in agony was just too exciting for him. But he couldn’t ruin his plans. Not when there was also three boys to kill. “So many hostages, I think these two are my favourite”.

🔥” Mama can I help you cook today?”. “Kei, sweetie you really don’t have to”. “Mama please your 8 months pregnant with twins, you to take better care of yourself. That means asking for help”. “Oh alright come up here, I’m making spicy sweet potato udon”. “Yesssssssss”. You looked down at the excited child. “Geez, your excited dear”. “I love spicy sweet potatoes!”.

🔥”Fall deeper, deeper still”

🔥Rengoku was out the back with his son collecting fire wood from the small shed like structure. “Hey Touji can you bring these to the boiler to help your mother with the cooking”. “YES SIR”. Toujurou saluted his father, took the wood and sped off. Rengoku couldn’t help but chuckle at the adorable display of the six-year-old boy running with wood in his hand. “I wish for this blessing to last forever”.

🔥”There he is, I’m guessing and I’m guessing the girls inside the house. I can’t let them see me. I have to find either one or both of their spiritual cores. Then I’ll be able to have a happy dream just like them”. The girl ran as fast as she could until she found a invisible wall. This was it. She used her sharp needle like tool to cut open the thin wall, only to find the intense heat and freezing cold just beyond the wall. She walked to the fire on to start coughing from the amount of smoke and sparks. She didn’t want to get frost bit by the cold on the other side so she kept running to find the spiritual cores. Only in t he distance, was that two globe like shapes, fusing!?. She ran closer to see the display in the middle. She could see the spiritual cores up ahead. In a field of beautiful Red Camellias. “These two are lovers aren’t they, no wonder, Red Camellias are the symbol of love”. She practically pranced through the field of flowers to reach the fusing cores. “Now all I have to is-“. She grabbed her sharp tool again. “DESTROY THESE”.

🔥Like a spark being ignited into a flame Rengoku rose to defend him and the woman he wanted as his love from death. His iron grip around the braided woman’s neck gripped her with very little mercy. In the dream world Rengoku felt a surge of duty flow through him. Y/N felt it too she stopped cooking for a sec. “Mama are you alright”. “Uh- Kei darling , can you get your father. The food is almost ready. “Ah okay”. “PAPA”. Y/N couldn’t help but smile weakly. She gripped the fabric of her beautiful purple kimono. She slowly started to rub her swollen stomach. Something was off.

🔥”Hey Papa can we visit uncle Senjuro soon?”. “Doesn’t he live with us”. “Papa don’t be silly, he’s in the city. Did you forget that he’s a doctor?”. The twins looked at their father with a cheeky face. Y/N and Kyojurou tried do their best to smile through it but they knew that something was wrong. “MAMA YOUR WRIST”. The girl screamed in shock. You were on fire. “Y/N”! “PAPA!?”. Rengoku was also on fire. You opened your eyes to find a small demon girl on you lap. You were on the train.

🔥”Y/N are you alright”. You looked down only to see that your stomach wasn’t swollen anymore and you could get up all by yourself. “We have a job to do”. Rengoku could see the sadness in your eyes and you could see the sadness in his. He gripped you hand firmly. “Your right. Excuse me small demon girl, can you tell us where the boys are?”. The small demon girl pointed towards the front of the train. “Thank you, please do everything in your power to keep everyone in this car safe alright”. “MMMHM”.

🔥You and Rengoku walked up to the next carriage to see the disgusting demon flesh surrounding the chairs and roof. “Is this what happened while we were asleep”. “How disgusting”. “Y/N I am ashamed that I had to let you see this. How I wish, THAT I COULD CRAWL UNDER ROCK”. That was the signal. You and Rengoku launched powerful but precise attacked. Bouncing against different walls and weak spots. Enmu let out a scream of pain. Tanjiro felt the rumbling floor turn somewhat calm.

🔥”MR RENGOKU, MISS Y/N TOO”. “Hey kid”. “Young Kamado, I need you to listen to me carefully. There are 8 carriages on this train. You need to locate the head of the demon on the train. While you do that Y/N and I will handle the 5 carriages at the back, while your sister and the boy in yellow will deal with the 3 carriages at the top. Understood?”. “Yeah but how do I find its head if it’s a trai-“. “It’s still a demon it has a head. So your best”. “I believe in you Kamado. If anyone can do this it’s you”. With that you and Rengoku disappeared to the last carriage of the train.

🔥It was a truly spectacular series of events. You gracefully used your frozen attacks to freeze the flesh like tentacles from attacking innocent passengers, while Rengoku used his powerful flame attacks the sever the tentacles from the train. After having froze most of the fleshy walls you heard a screech of pain coming from the train. You and Rengoku wasted no time to use your skills to steady the train as it fell to its side. As the train came off the tracks Rengoku hugged you tight hoping that you wouldn’t get hurt from the crash, you held him tightly back. After everything was quiet you opened your eyes to find yourself and n Rengoku’s muscular arms.

🔥”KYOJUROU ARE YOU ALRIGHT!?”. You started to cry as Rengoku got up. “THANK GOODNESS, PLEASE DONT DO THAT AGAIN. YOU COULD’VE BEEN KILLED OR-“. Rengoku grabbed you by the arms and passionately kissed your lips to stop your ramblings. “Are you sure I’m the one that talks to much Y/N?”. He chuckled at your blushing face. You nuzzled into his shoulder still crying.

🔥You heard a whistle of congratulations and teasing. You and and Rengoku turned towards where the sound originated from only to see the three boys there. You and Rengoku were now tomato red. Then you saw it” TANJIRO YOU STOMACH ARE YOU ALRIGHT”. “Gonpachiro will be alright, some doush decided to stab him.”. All of a sudden, another surge of terror ran through your veins. You and Rengoku turn your head to see a demon in dust. He had criminal tattoos all along his face and arms.

🔥When the demon was fully in sight. He quickly lunged for Tanjiro. Rengoku took off, skilfully slicing the demons arm in half. The demon flipped back only to heal his arm up quickly. “That’s a fine sword you got there”. “ Y/N take the boys to the other side, make sure all of the passengers are safe”. “But Kyoju-“. “That’s an order!?”. Rengoku stated as if it he was making a law. You quickly got up to give him an encouraging kiss on his cheek. “Stay safe please”. “Will do”.

🔥”Don’t focus on her. IM THE ONE YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON”! You took the injured Tanjiro in your arms. “ INOSUKE, ZENITSU FOLLOW ME”. “BUT WHAT ABOUT BUG EYES”. “KYOJUROU IS A HASHIRA, IF ANYONE CAN DEFEAT THAT THING ITS HIM”.

🔥Your first priority was to make sure Tanjiro was going to be alright. “Tanjiro, listen here. I know breathing technique that’ll help heal you up. I need you to search for the injured blood vessel”. “Alright”. “You see it. Stop the bleeding”. Tanjiro groaned and winced at the pain until the wound was sealed up. “Now this breathing technique won’t solve everything but it will sol-“.

🔥Y/N shuddered knowing something was off again. “Inosuke please keep Tanjiro safe, Zenitsu look for anyone injured”. With that you sped off to find your new lover.

🔥”KYOJUROU ARE YOU-“. You ran up to the battle ground only to see Rengokus ultimate move. “FLAME BREATHING NINTH FORM, PURGATORY!”. So much fire you could barely see. Through the flame, was the demon, aiming for his stomach!? OH HECK NO LIKE HELL YOU WERE GONNA LET THAT HAPPEN. You quickly moved without hesitation. And launched a powerful attack to rip his the demons arm off before it could go through Kyojurou.

🔥 “Y/N I TOLD YOU TO-“. “OH SHUT YER TRAP LIKE HELL IM LETTING YOU GO THROUGH THIS ALONE”. “My my look what the flames dragged in. Ice and fire, pure opposites”. “Just make your point demon!”. “Rude. Maybe I should turn you into a demon, I could teach you a few manners”. The demon moved faster than your eyes could travel. Only to see his cruel eyes bellow you. You were fast to avoid his devious attack. “Ah you can fight, how interesting. You know a pretty lady such as yourself shouldn’t be fighting, not with that face, all your doing is distracting me, I can’t take you seriously”.

🔥Rengoku could see your veins poping out. “You just made a big mistake”. Akaza looked up to see you face having anger completely control you. Akaza could only laugh at you. “ALRIGHT THEN, DONT WORRY SWEETHEART I’LL TAKE IT EASY ON YOU”. You both lunged at each other with skilful attacked. This time you were on offence while Akaza was defence. Akaza frustratingly avoided all of your heavy attacks making you madder than you already were.

🔥All of a sudden an idea popped into your head. “Hey Akaza, can I take you up on offer”. Rengoku was mortified by your advances towards Akaza. “Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?”. “This will only go on for ages, I’ll become a demon on the condition that you are never allowed to hurt anyone from the Rengoku family”. “Understood my lady”. Akaza walked up to you grabbing your waist. Rengoku was behind you watching everything. How could you betray him like this. Sure he had bad injuries, but he was still alive. Y/N put her hand behind her back giving a thumbs up to her lover. Rengoku looked trying not to make a shocked face.

🔥Akaza was still holding you by your waist. “To do this your going to have to kiss me”. “I understand”. “Even with him here?”. “It won’t matter soon”. “Fair enough”. Akaza leaned in the try to capture your lips. Only to feel you hand, but something smelt annoyingly sweet, it hurt him. Akaza stepped back from feeling his lips swelling. He opened his eyes only to see Y/N’s wisteria covered hand.

🔥”You, YOU TRICKED ME, YOU WITCH”. “Boy did really think I would become a demon, you really think I’m naïve don’t you.”. Akaza was weakened from the wisteria, you saw this as the perfect opportunity to pounce. You quickly lunged toward the now weaker demon only for him to fall down. “WHY THE HELL IS THERE A DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GROUND”. Akaza had retreated to the infinity palace. You turned back to see your injured lover.

🔥”You did your best”. “So did you”. “I’m sorry, I should’ve defeated him faster”. “He’s an upper moon, give yourself some credit”. Rengoku laid in your lap while you continued to put bandages on his injured areas. CAW CAW.

🔥Was that a kasugai crow? Followed by, Shinobu!? “Kocho how did you-?”. “Zenitsu sent his crow telling me that there are several injured people, I came here with Kakushi. “Y/N you did a wonderful job, but now you should let me care for Rengoku”. Rengoku gave you a reassuring kiss on your hand. “Don’t fret my love, Shinobu will care for me”. You let the Kakushi take Rengoku on a stretcher while one Kakushi handled your injuries. Suddenly you felt light headed. “Y/N sama, I suggest you let yourself relax”. Shinobu said softly “Right”. With that you let yourself fall into slumber.

🔥You woke up on your bed to see Rengoku on the bed next to yours. He was reading a book. “Ah, Y/N, My love. Good to see you awake”. You couldn’t help but some at your lover. “Yes kyo. I’m awake”. You both stared into each others eyes longingly. You could stare into those vermillion eyes for days. Your gazing was interrupted by a loud yell. “KYOJUROU YOU LITTLE S**T!”. You and Kyojurou recognised the gruff man’s voice as one Shinjuro Rengoku.

🔥”HOW DARE YOU TAKE OFF FROM THE PREMISS LIKE THAT!”. You could see the pure fear in his eyes. You were angry that someone could do something as cruel as this to their own son. “Ooooooh Kyooojuroooo. Did you miss meeeeee?”. Oh no. You recognised the flirty girls voice as well. E/N strutted through the door with Senjuro who looked like he had been crying for a long time.

🔥”Senjuro dear come here quickly”. You whispered. Senjuro tried to move only for E/N to grab senjuro by his collar. “Oh no, my son has done terrible things under your influence”. “My influence? And “my” son? Quit acting like you’ve been a parent to Kyo. “Kyo!?”. E/N looked at you, her jealousy taking over the room. You were quick to move to Rengoku’s bed to hold his hand. “Yeah, Kyo”. You said with such confidence. It enraged the older man and flirty woman to see Rengoku taking your advances. Senjuro took the drama as an advantage to make his escape to find Shinobu.

🔥”You had E/N as the number one option, and you choose a nobody over her”. “No i chose the person who was actually willing to love me”. “How dare you, you ungrateful idiot”. Kyojurou held closer and took your hand. Shinjuro was outraged. He walked in to try to take you away from his son. “Ara Ara what a predicament”.

🔥Shinobu came in the room, waiting outside was Aoi holding a crying senjuro. “This is a family matter woman. You have no business here”. “I am the one taking care of your son, and currently you and that girl are making him feel uncomfortable”. “Uncomfortable!? I’ll have you know that I am-“. “An annoyance “. You spat your venom at her.

🔥Seeing the rage on her face was enough to make you giggle. Kyojurou smirked. “Well either way your disturbing my patient. Either leave or I’ll have to force you out”. Shinjuro and E/N saw the anger on Shinobu’s face despite having smile.

🔥”Once your healed your coming straight home or you and Senjuro are being kicked out”. “Don’t worry, that’s not a problem”. Shinjuro shot him a threatening look before angrily walking out the door.

🔥2 months in rehabilitation later

🔥”Hey Y/N”. “Yes Kyojurou”. “In the dream I had on train, you were in it. And I don’t mean just in it, we were sharing dreams”. Rengoku took Y/Ns hand. “I think we should act on this”. “What do you mean?”. By now your blushing a lot. “Y/N will you give me the honour of letting take you on a date?”. Rengoku’s face slightly pink. “I’d love that Kyojurou”.
