the problem isn't just that media literacy is slowly becoming a dying art. it's that people straight up do not pay attention when they watch tv/film anymore.

So I want to talk about Loki’s shapeshifting for a minute.
When Odin first comes across Loki on Jotunheim, he has zero reason to cast a glamour on him. Adopting Laufey’s son wasn’t ever part of his plan. But then an infant Loki instinctively shifts his form to mirror Odin’s, to appear less alien to this potential caregiver. Because if Loki is anything, he is a survivor, and this is the only survival skill he has at such a young age. And Odin can’t help but to be intrigued.
So this becomes Loki’s real form. He was so young when he assumed it that he doesn’t remember being anything else. And I do mean real as in tangible flesh and blood – not a fancy light show set over blue skin. If Loki’s Aesir form was merely an illusion, much less one outside his own control, there would be no reason for the touch of a frost giant to break it. At worst, he would appear the same as always, but have this nagging worry about why he didn’t get frostbite like Volstagg. That’s not what happens.
Loki reverts back to his Jotun form. Like when he first took Aesir form, it is an instinctive survival technique. If he had stayed Aesir, he would have suffered frostbite. So he takes the form of a race who can withstand extreme cold. Problem being he didn’t realize he had this ability or that he had used it before.

Writing is not about 'telling an epic story' or 'making something that will outlive you'. Writing is about going "You know what would be fucking awesome?" and then committing word crimes

As someone who grew up with "I'm not going to praise you for doing what's expected of you; that's not being good, that's doing the bare minimum" I want to encourage you to celebrate every little thing you can. Everything that takes energy and effort should be appreciated and you're allowed to be happy about trying.
