Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work at a museum? Every year in April there is an international museum dance off. That’s right, it’s international, and museums big and small participate by “shaking what their mamas gave them.” When You Work at A Museum holds an annual museum dance off; a fantastic competition, a show of true dance prowess and, of course, a look behind the scenes at some of your favorite museums.
The way it works: Museum staff, volunteers, and interns pick a song, do a little dance, and upload something amazing for the world to see. Then, in an epic showdown, we all vote online for our favorites, in a round by round elimination tournament, until we have a winner….and the Annapolis Maritime Museum is counting on you to help us climb our way to the top.
VOTE
Vote for us. Yes, we hope that you watch our video and that you find it entertaining, but honestly even if you hate it you should still vote for us. Why? Because we work hard for a good cause AND we can dance.
So vote, between 8am April 22nd and 8am April 23rd (only a 24 hour window for voting) for the Annapolis Maritime Museum! To vote visit: http://www.whenyouworkatamuseum.com/
P.S. You can vote as many times as you want so keep that trigger finger ready.

Fun Fact: Taking cargo from a beached shipwreck has a long, continuing history. Stories tell of wreckers using 'false lights' at night to lure sailors onto the rocks.

Fun Fact: Port is the left side of a boat. Early ships were steered from the right side while the left side was used to move cargo, or larder. The left side became known as "larboard", which was easily confused with starboard, or the right side of the ship. So "port" was selected as cargo was often passed through openings called "ports" on the left side. Picture: http://bit.ly/1ndXog8

At nearly 14 inches long, a mammoth mollusk is still alive and growing, says the biologist who found it in Denmark. The oyster is roughly comparable to a size 11 shoe.
