It's been fascinating seeing the reaction to the poll. The Destiel fans seem to think their ship deserves to stay popular and relevant just because... it used to be popular and relevant, I guess? Reading these tags has such a flavor of entitlement, it's really something.
It's like they're not realizing that the standards for what qualifies as good representation, or even a good show, have shifted in the last 10 or so years. Not realizing that a lot of people who were here back then, like me, never cared for Supernatural, and don't agree it was important at all, and would not be interested in celebrating it. Not realizing that other fandoms have been happening around them, and that some, like in the case of Mobile Suit Gundam, have legacies that reach back to decades before Supernatural was even on the air.
Destiel is such a product of its time. It's a fanon ship that, as I recall, was strongly disliked by its show's staff, acknowledged only because the fans demanded it so much. The ending of Supernatural was widely mocked, and the show is now mostly remembered as that meme people learn the news through.
Sulemio meanwhile had the full, joyous support of its staff, and was canon since the first episode of Gundam Witch. The whole show's plot revolved around this pairing. The Gundam franchise hit record sales numbers during and after the show. Sulemio brought hundreds if not thousands of new people into the mecha audience, and got many of them interested in the hobby of building Gunpla. Suletta and Miorine being canonically married even stood out politically, because gay marriage is not legal in Japan.
Is this not progress? Is this not worth celebrating? Why cling to the old and busted when the new hotness is doing such great things?
"Be serious", they say. But I am serious. I've been serious the whole time.
Maybe it's not for me to understand.

Mercurial Knight
Tumblr media
The heavily equipped knights serving the Grale King, Dr. Anfortas. They swiftly execute the will of the doctor, whose body has putrified beyond recognition.
These knights are fast despite their size and bear decorative wings throughout their bodies. Optimized for pursuit, they act more as interceptors of enemies of the Templars, and special operations needed to progress in Grale Stone research.

Isalid, Blade of Justice
Tumblr media
Old concept for Isalid, the faery that was miraculously incorporated into a cyborg homunculus.
Inspired by his childhood friend's heroic nature, and set in finding that friend again, Isalid travels in search of him, doing good along the way.
However, he shares the body with the consciousness of the woman who trapped him in there.
The frontier of science is not without its complications...

I'm Oshii pilled, and that means a Kawai supplement. Oshii's work is probably a good benchmark for the atmosphere I'm chasing here.

Chiaro the Monk
Chiaro was raised on an unsettled island by the animals and fae that inhabited it. He did not meet another human until he was 16, and by then had focused his being on the pursuit of spiritual development over all else.
Chiaro had no wish to integrate back into society.

Old Concept for Avro and the eccentric spiritualist, Chiaro. Though their goals align, their approaches to life are divergent. They respect each other, but think nothing alike, and they've been known to scrap.
Avro is grounded, always living for the next day and keeping his eyes and heart focused on the people and things around him. His concerns are with the material world.
Chiaro shuns the physical as transient, and people as pieces in a larger cosmic configuration. Though not nihilistic, Chiaro can often be callous, and is generally more concerned with spiritual practice than human interaction.

Armor in modern (circa 225CC) combat is entirely distinct in nature from traditional hard armor.
Whereas traditional armor is meant to deflect, diffuse, or otherwise protect the wearer via material shielding, modern armor relies on a technology known as AK (Akinetic) shielding.
Made of softer, more lightweight materials, AK armor compensates by generating an AK field around the wearer to protect from all manner of incoming physical assault.

A rough sketch and coloring of an "Armatura Gravis", a heavy powered armor used in cavalry charges and front line combat.
The Aether Drives on the back spin a spiral rod made of a special alloy that, when charged, is able to tunnel through the Nousphere and propel the armor forward.
Known colloquially as an "AG" and often misidentified as an "AutoGear".
