I don't necessarily disagree with the thesis of this. I do think that creator intent sadly gets shafted a lot in favour of what fandom prefers to embrace. There's nothing to be done about it, other than accept it and move on, I guess.

In this specific instance, though, I can't say there's much of an issue. Stanley was still laid to rest in the final episode, and nothing can change that except a third season, which is unlikely at this time. I trust that what people choose to do with the character now is with the knowledge that it can't impede on what I originally laid out.

That in and of itself is a fairly arbitrary setback since Classified wasn't planned out for the most part. A lot of the "canon" was thought up on the spot, simply based on what I found to be most compelling/intriguing at any given moment. This resulted in the numerous plot holes and unresolved plot threads the series has now, which in all fairness, contributed to its malleability. Stanley's plight can be interpreted any one way you like, and I think that's good. I have my own interpretation, which I swear by and can be considered "canon" within the vacuum of the series, but that's just me. I don't wanna force that on a fandom. If they wanna reshape Stanley into a big bad evil man, then that's on them. You don't have to care for it.

ive just been thinking about stanley a bit recently idk. especially because ive been thinking a lot about mmv2, and im very dissatisfied at their inclusion in it. i think stanley brings out a lot of the worst of the "horrorbrew" sect where they want to claw whatever idea of a Scary [X] it is they have in their head out of other people's stories and by god they will butcher whatever they need to to get it to Work. i think this happens so harshly because classified probably didnt go the direction that many people wanted it to.

but yes, stanley is a malignant psuedo-gore-filled body horror nightmare man, that's surely what classified was about. their misery in the face of their own purpose is not to be respected, their tragedy is to be boiled down into a fandom digestible form or picked apart by "explained" videos by people who are not content with any Feelings a story may place within them. all of these meta multimedia aspects are so confusing, why is all of this so vague? stanley should just be property of the Consumer instead, where they will be forced to dance forever yet unable to beg for finality without it simply being an eye-catching, surface-deep reference to their concept.

I also think it was funny that they made the Wario Apparition.
