Same old discourse. But once again ao3 is an archive site aka public library for fanfics. Ao3 at this point is one of few sites that allows nsfw content and zero ads to appease corporate overlords. And keeps everyone not getting sued by creators of IPs aka your fav ships or characters
Folks can do whatever with their money. They can donate 2k for archive site and other places as they see fit. In fact it’s not your business to know how or what people put their money towards.
You mad someone donated money to ao3 over [ current event topic that needs aid ] you might as well get made at people commission 1k for fursuit or other any goods/services
It’s so tiresome. These folks piss and complain about ao3 hosting stuff they dislike and STILL post and consume content on their own.

THE HURRICANE WARS took the world by storm, and now NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Thea Guanzon returns with this steamy and action-packed sequel, following reluctant newlyweds Alaric and Talasyn as they navigate their burgeoning feelings among political schemes and magical threats.
After a lifetime of war, Alaric and Talasyn were thrust into an alliance between their homelands that was supposed to bring peace; however, being married to their sworn foe feels far from peaceful. Now Talasyn must play the part of Alaric’s willing empress while her allies secretly plot to overthrow his reign. But the longer the couple are forced together, the harder it becomes for her to deny—he isn’t the monster she thought he was. When the time comes to act, can she trust him, or must she ignore her feelings for the sake of so many others?
As the master of the Shadowforged Legion, Alaric has trained for battle all his life, but marrying a Lightweaver might be his most dangerous challenge yet. With tensions between nations churning, he needs to focus on the greater threat—the Moonless Dark, a cataclysmic magical event that could devour everything. Only he and Talasyn can stop it, with a powerful merging of light and shadow that they alone can create together. But saving their world from this disaster is a mere preface to his father’s more sinister schemes, and his wife is a burning flame in the darkness, tempting both his loyalties and his desires.
The Hurricane Wars aren’t over. It’s time to choose what—and who—to fight for. The world holds its breath amidst a whirlwind of new magic and old secrets, and two hearts circle each other like predators in the eye of the storm.

Reads with Rachel talks about the non-apology article. It is fair and Rachel tries to empathize, but even she believes that the article was written more for damage control (albeit a very poorly done and tasteless kind of damage control) and to try to humanize Cait. Because apparently, Cait is more concerned that everyone and their mother thinks that she's racist (she is) rather than genuinely and sincerely apologize to each individual author she had harmed.
And as someone mentioned on Twitter: Rachel shouldn't have made a Part 2.
Interestingly, there seems to be a new reviewbomber account created on Goodreads, and Rachel pointed out that 24 hours after the account reviewbombed a seemingly random number of books (ranging from the TORAH to The Babysitters Club series), Cait or her reps reached out to The Daily Beast.

If she goes out and try to pin this on her alter ego Lilly or some other character or attempt to prove that one of her medications made her do it, I will eat a hat.
this week, cait corrain, whose book was dropped by the publisher and who was dropped by their agent after she review-bombed books by BIPOC authors (mainly other 2024 debut authors), put out an “apology” article in the daily beast. the article was very sympathetic to cait, but ultimately this apology failed to take actual responsibility for her actions, and has been roundly criticised for this
and now i’m hearing on twitter that it’s fucking happening again. these authors are getting review bombed AGAIN, including authors critical of the apology. absolutely fuck off. if/when i get more details (i don’t have a xitter account and my backend, nitter, is gone) i will share because i firmly want to rally support around the authors being review bombed

Here’s the song. Terrible lyrics, amazing beat. (nsfw!) Many thanks to @and-then-bam-cassiopeia who introduced me to this song.
