Im so happy that our homestead has grown so much in the last year! We started with a small budget and dream; now we are building the ladder for success one sturdy board at a time!!

Something big has been happening on our homestead! We have been incubating our own eggs for baby chick's this year! After 21 long days of waiting we are starting to see these babies make their way into the world! We are excited to expand our flock since we are now having more people purchase eggs locally from us! We will see what happens over the next few days to get an exact head count of little ones!

Made some homemade gummies for my toddler! Super simple recipe with only three ingredients: fruit juice, honey, and unflavored gelatin. Its that simple to switch from artificial coloring and flavors. We have been working on cutting out red dye 40 from her diet along with processed sugars. After a week of not having them in her system we noticed a heavy change in the way she listens and follows directions.

With the rise of food prices that are not going down any time soon. I have taken the liberty to start to learn new things to stock my pantry. Today I made some bagels completely from scratch! Well worth the time to make them and now I do ever want to buy store bagels again!

So I had a wonderful surprise checking on my chickens last night! We noticed over the last week our daily egg count was down from 7 to 2. Well I found the thief. Thankfully my husband was able to handle the problem and the chicken got a nice snack out of the deal! This snake was 6 feet long😬 hopefully this is the only one!

You win some and you loose some. This is what the homestead brought in today. 2 eggs 3 small potatoes and a tomato! Still awesome to be able to use my property as my own store but today's yield was little compared to the work it takes to get these items. I know as my plants mature ill have greater yields. I can see why people get so heart broken when they do not produce what they thought they were going to! Tomorrow's a new day an I am hoping for a better yield.

Today has been eventful! I've made my first two trades today. I traded 2 cartons of eggs for a bottle of lavender perfume and a quart of strawberries!

My lovely husband has surprised me with this cute little Venus fly trap! I've always wanted to dive into the carnivorous plants but never bought one for myself. I've ordered a new container and peat moss just waiting for them to arrive!
