Well, this was supposed to be King Sombra (the new MLP villain, for those wondering) but it turned into a…thing…that happened. Took a lot of liberties with this. I like it. I think.

KING SOMBRA, THOUGH. I have to say, the season premiere was supremely lackluster in terms of villainy. I won’t blame Sombra—it wasn’t HIS fault, because the big bad had, what, three lines total? He can’t have gotten more than a cumulative minute of screen time, either, and most of that was spent as an amorphous cloud. We got to see the dude properly for two seconds right before he was vaporized by the power of love. And there were so many opportunities that they coulda used him in I mean oh my god there is nothing worse than and underutilized bad guy. It sucks.

Only good news: he only uses the shitty red-on-green-on-purple colors scheme when he’s a shadow thing (which is probably to give us something to focus on). When he goes full pony his colors shift to a much more palatable red and grey.
