I'm on the road and didn't bring my chalkboard. But I do that some links that might be useful!

When I started learning Korean, I was originally just going to try and memorize words then grammar. Mostly because I was really intimidated by learning a new writing system. Enter GO! Billy Korean.

I found his channel while trying to figure out how to pronounce ㄹ. He's got a lot of really great information about the culture, history, and grammar. But my favorite playlist is probably his learning hangul series (linked above).

If his style of videos aren't your jam, don't worry. The important part of learning is finding methods and resources that work best for you.

If you have learning a new language on your resolution list, maybe check this out. Journaling may not be your thing, but you probably will need some kind of notebook. Grammar, vocabulary, linguistic history. You can find a use for it!

In honor of the new year, here is my simple tutorial for setting up and maintaining a language journal. I’ve made 3 so far using this method for spanish, french, and italian because it’s so simple. Disfruta y espero que logres sus metas de lengua este año! <3

Keep counting on! Again, second row is Native-Korean and the third is Sino-Korean.

Once upon a time, I had a friend who was determined I was going to learn how to count to 10 in Mandarin Chinese. It was a lightbulb moment and suddenly it made sense why I could remember one set of numbers but not the other. The sounds aren't exactly the same but you can hear the relation.

Work has been crazy but you dont come here to hear me complain. Since you can't count on me, let's do some numbers!

Fun fact: there are two different sets of counting systems/numbers in Korean. Native -Korean (second row) and Sino-Korean (third row). They have different origins and uses but that's for later.

Who else spends most of their life behind a screen? 😅 But honestly, I'm always messing with keyboards and computers. I figure that won't (or at least shouldn't) really change with whatever language I'm using.

This is what I have been using to practice typing/spelling in Korean but it offers a lot of other languages. The words are random so it's also a simple way to get introduced to new vocabulary. Easy interaction, simple interface but you do need an internet connection.
