We’re told to and sold to that we’re not enough, that there’s more to be uncovered, that there’re more problems that we need to solve. But what if as we are is enough? For us, for humanity. What if we could trust our nature?
Sometimes when I’m feeling anxious or insecure around my decisions, I take a breath and say, “I trust myself.” After we all have lived through so much pain and have made so much growth within ourselves, why couldn’t we pause and recognize that it’s in our nature to know better now. I have over 70 plants scattered around my apartment/office/studio. You read that right.
Every time I get blue about the state of the world and our society, I look at them and remember that all I can control is my little corner of it all. Caring for plants is one of the ways I remind myself to take care of my little world by connecting myself with nature itself. I see each of them as extensions of my inner experiences, clients, family, and friends. I keep them alive to act as symbolism for the life I hope to breathe through all of my relationships with others and myself.
I value my relationships and I value our planet. I haven’t mastered all the ways I can give back but I’ve always believed that the intention behind what we do and why we do it is what’s important. Putting the self first in a conscious way that considers the others and the planet at large is how I actively choose to live my life. The excitement to begin at college again is building! I can’t wait to finally go after the degree I always wanted but never thought I’d “use” or be “smart enough” to capture.
Philosophy has been a long-time interest and passion of mine which is why I’ve reenrolled at ASU online to complete my second bachelor’s degree. It’s a personal mission and a single step in a grander scheme of aspirations. I’ve got this!!!

Meet LaCie, my coworker-kitty extraordinaire!! She’s named after a company that produces external hard drives
I’m a nerd. It’s whatever.
LaCie mainly ensures that my day is effectively organized by bugging me when it’s time to eat. She also manages communication and response by walking over my keyboard and sitting on my mousepad (that’s actually this exact photo). She’s exceptionally well at reminding me of important meetings by jumping on my chair and licking my head. Don’t get any ideas of poaching my assistent though, she’s got a non-compete contract at Manic Theory, signed with a paw print and all. We don’t do catnip drug tests here so I can’t see her leaving anytime soon

All of my clients are my favorite, but Myles Optimystic (@mylesoptimystic ) is– by far– the most unique. As a non-binary conscious rap artist and performer, they’re lyrics boast of peace and love in the most thought-provoking way. One of my favorite lyrics in this single album that I designed is, “turn off your tel-eye-vision.”
It’s important to me that I can match my clients visions both in business and in ethics. Myles certainly checks all those boxes! I’ve done everything from their website design, social launch strategy, analytic consulting, video editing, photography, and soon, an ad campaign. I’m so excited about that one by the way! We’ll be poking fun at gender constructs through presentation to their song “LoverBi” which is a true bisexual anthem.

Creative direction is one of my favorite skills. But I wasn’t taught this in school. I picked up this talent in 2016 when I directed a short documentary as an attempt to raise funds to save my favorite creative space in downtown Lakeland, Florida: Krap Art. The project failed to raise the tens of thousands needed to sustain the space but the people I met and experience I gained taught me so many valuable lessons!
Since then, I’ve directed countless shoots, shows, and even events. This one is from 2019 with @lesvixensburlesque at @artifact_studios
I look forward to building an updated portfolio of my work on my new website that showcases my mind’s-eye prowess. For now, enjoy the bts because there’s not a lot of it when you’re the one directing the whole shabang!

I’ve been through hell and back. The hell itself was only in my head, but the mind is a powerful place. I’ve found, that if you believe in something enough, it can be true. Valid. Righteous. You can experience anything you can dream of, if you’re brave enough (or crazy enough) to feel it. Now I sound a little like Walt Disney but I hope you know I mean what I say in the most morbid way…
I’m diagnosed with Schizoaffective Bipolar Disorder. What this means is I can find myself in a psychotic state when not properly treated with traditional and alternative medicines (ie. Mediation, breath work, journaling). But every time I’ve fallen in the depths that lay between my ears, I’ve gotten back up. Because calamity is the test of integrity. And if there’s anything I choose to believe, it’s that I can hold my own.
Transparency is a sign of integrity, to me, which is why I share this deeply personal information with you. I may be a designer by trade but I’m rooted in ethical practices and lifestyle choices. This account isn’t just about my work, it’s about technology and how we can use it for social good. How can you be more honest with your audience about your experiences?
We often see mental health being talked about as if that alone can destigmatize it. But it’s also about showing–through action– how you’re overcoming it. I encourage myself to move forward, to keep dreaming, and set personal goals out that can be achieved in years to come. I plan for stability because everyday I practice it. Destruction doesn’t have to lead to more, it can lead to a kind of rebirth. *Choose your rock bottom and work up from there.* It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s, it just has to be enough to drive you towards becoming the self you know you are
