What would you do, if you knew how it would all end?

Your story begins where you die, and your fate is far more grim than the pretty fables recounted in books of fantasy and enchantment. With your untimely demise comes the world’s end, all whilst you lock gazes with the person who caused it. 

But before you can proceed, you are thrown back to the beginning— back to day zero, in a tranquil village on the outskirts of a kingdom where magic vibrates in the very air and power is worn as a royal mantle.

When you find out that you possess magic wielding abilities, so do they. A knight arrives to your village, bearing the emblem of the Crown. Flocked like cattle into an oversized crate drawn by horses, you and your neighbor are taken from your homes to be trained within the imperial stronghold. 

Despite your predicament, there’s something itching the back of your mind… Your neighbor’s eyes oddly remind you of something.

Julian: the mysterious captain of the Scarlet Eagle, a fearless man who hides one too many secrets behind a charming smile. Is that easygoing attitude of his all there is? He has black hair which graze his shoulders, tanned skin and a lone golden eye. The left one is always covered up by an eye-patch.

Anastasia: the charming princess and heir to the throne of Urwos, a dedicated woman with a heart of gold. Praised from kingdom to kingdom for her gentle nature, longs for... what exactly? She has long wavy black hair up to her waist, dark skin and golden eyes.

Nyx: leader of the Order of Wolves, the fearsome woman tasked with the protection of Sorathia. Neighbouring kingdoms most of all know the extent of her strength. Sharp as a thorn, haunted by ghosts of the past. She has long wavy white hair, pale skin and violet eyes.

Ronan: king of Agartha, an evasive man which keeps to his kingdom. Known for his terrifying strength, he reigns over Agartha from the solitude of his palace. The only man who's kept the Emperor at bay so far. He has long white hair just short of his waist, pale skin and golden eyes. Oh and did I mention pointy ears?

I'm alive... Though dead tired... I was clearly underestimating how hard a 8am to 5pm internship is going to be... (￣ヘ￣;)

I've been squeezing in time to work on the story and finally wrote the synopsis! *Cries tears of joy* ಥ‿ಥ

I've been working on making the world map for the story, since politics and geography will really come into play a lot and it'd help you guys understand it better!

I won't be posting it yet however. Need to work on some stuff over the weekend. And possibly give myself a break and maybe play the great ace attorney game that recently got localized

On another note my journey to familiarize myself with twine continues. 〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜

And that's all there is to say about it for now, to be honest.

I don't think I have the energy to type anymore. I am, quite frankly, on the verge of passing out from sleepiness hence the mini-update. ಥ_ಥ night fellas!

Weekly Progress Update (7/4/2021)

Sigh...

Okay, so first order of business... The synopsis! I have scrapped it more than 5 times and rewritten because it just didn’t have that spark that gives it an ‘oomph’, you know? If that even makes sense :’)  

What am I even doing?

But yeah, I’ll post that by tomorrow after I have a couple of my friends go over it and tell me I’m just overthinking it. I can be a perfectionist sometimes so :’)

Besides this I did make major headway on the lore and establishing the characters backgrounds and personalities! I ended up writing short stories about the RO’s too. Mainly what they would be doing during the prologue of the game. Super proud of myself for that! I don’t really have plans to make these stories public since they’re more for my sake so that I could establish the characters personality and perspective in my head. But I might share titbits here and there!

I do have the whole prologue planned out in detail and it is a bit long (I did mention before that the story is divided in arc or segments so the prologue is a segment in its own means). I’m thinking of publishing the first demo as half the prologue and the second will be the full prologue of course! 

I have been studying coding on twine. Just the basic stuff for now. I might use a temporary template for the prologue since I want to make one myself but i want to focus on writing at the moment so I’ll make that whenever i feel like taking a break from writing.

P.s I’ve been hooked on Ace Attorney nowadays and my goodness is it good! The mental exercise and deduction in the game is phenomenal! I’m specifically referring to the trilogy.

UPDATE 6/30/2021

Hello! My exams ended and I gave myself sufficient time to rest and now I’m ready to get down to business!... is what I want to say but I’m very quickly realising how difficult organising world lore is. 

First order of business is to write the plot details on what the book is about and post it on tumblr! Can’t leave you guys hanging for too long! After that, I’m hoping to work on making the world map and finalising it after which I’ll work on the side characters. I’ve already got a good grasp on where and how I want the story to end. There will be a few hidden endings that can only achieved when specific conditions are met. 

Apart from this a heads up! I’ve decided to use Twine for my game because of the variety of options it offers. I’m still learning it though. I’m hoping I can familiarise myself with twine more with time, mainly when I’m writing and coding the demo. I’m not really sure where I want the demo to end yet though and how many chapters the book is going to have. Because I’ve mainly segmented the story in arcs or phases. 

*stares intensely*... I just realised this is more of a what I want to do soon post rather than an actual update. Which reminds me, I’ll probably work on an update schedule. There might be spontaneous daily Update posts though. I think a weekly progress report should be good enough! On Sundays.

Update 6/22/2021

I decided on 3 official RO’s for now with quite a unique variety. I’m exploring how I can add one or two more RO’s. There were only going to be 2 main romance options initially (one male and one female) but I saw a possibility to add more without over complicating the story line. The story itself is going to have a lot of variables and alternative scenes so adding more RO options would have just hindered the plot rather than improving on it. But I’ve decided to spread the whole story over the course of three books. Depending upon your choices the story CAN end in the first or the second book and would, hence, not be carried forward to the next books. These would essentially be called ‘incomplete endings’ because the whole plot would not have been explored, not to mention the lore and secrets. I’m thinking of adding the in-game MC’s death as a variable itself which would make the game end early and you can read the epilogue from the other characters perspective. Though this idea isn’t set in stone yet. Its just something I’ve been playing around with in my head. 

I’ve also worked on a lot of the world building aspects including lore, geography, different species and their habitats, Global political situation, legends, myths, religions etc. Still have to work on the fauna aspect, tradition, culture etc and pen them down. I’ve made a rough outline of Book 1 and Book 2 and a detailed outline of the prologue. I still need to work more on character descriptions and the backstory of side-characters that are not RO’s or MC.

The infographic above (courtesy of Yalla! Let's Talk) was posted only six days ago and now Palestine is trending once again following Israel's new airstrike against the people of Gaza in the middle of the night.

Besides being a violation of the "ceasefire", which Palestinians themselves said would not resolve the core issue, this new wave of bombings is once again a reminder that a free Palestinian state cannot be achieved through lukewarm, inconsistent coverage and activism.

What is Zineteractive?

Zineteractive is a collaboration between artists, writers and game devs to celebrate the creativity of the Interactive Fiction Community whilst also supporting charities. All combined to create a FanZine.

What games will be featured?

For this project, Choice of Games, Hosted Games and Twine Games will be the main focus. In terms of what games specifically are featured, that will be up to you!

I've been thinking about a cool interactive book idea for a couple months. In the beginning it was just something I dreamed one night. Kind of like a movie but my subconsciousness had made up such intricate world lore and my dream was so detailed and heavy that I couldn't stop thinking about it. I finally had the courage to write down the plot and a little bit of the lore I saw in my dream. I might play around the idea more and it's the perfect time too since summer vacation is a couple weeks away. I'm planning in doing internship this summer but having this as a hobby to occupy my break times would be really great. It's been awhile since I wrote anything.

Glory of the Damned is a high-fantasy/romance interactive fiction made with Twine. In this game, you play as a magic user with a troubled past who joins the Selection; the capital kingdom’s competition to search for the strongest magic users in all the lands. Learn more about the illness that’s been torturing the mages and find out its cure also while planning your revenge on the man who destroyed your life.

It’s been 100 years since the Corruption, an illness that affected magic users exclusively, started claiming the lives of many people though out Dirinha. No one knew where it came from and no cure could be found; this caused many people to give up on learning magic in fear of losing their life.

Despite this, magic was still an important element and while there are those who have given up on it, there are a few who continue to practice it. Whether it was for a noble cause, to be rewarded generously with fame and fortune or mere curiosity, magic persisted. Those brave— some would say, foolish— individuals were invited to the capital. The Kingdom of Liestrum holds a competition every 15 years to find the strongest magic users and offer them the position of Royal Mage and serve the kingdom.

Many mages join due to the fortune the kingdom offers. You, on the other hand, will be using the Selection as a way to get back to the man who destroyed your life. You’ll take everything from him, just like he did to you.

Finished The Golden Rose

It is done. The whole game is written, edited, and coded. It took me four more months than I expected - I wanted to have reached this stage before the turn of the year - but then again, I never did anticipate reaching the million-word count.

When I started writing the Rose, the one thing I wanted was to make a game that I would like to have played. And I can say, proudly, that it is. I hope you’ll all like it, of course, but at least I managed to meet my very first and most important goal.

Next, it follows the Beta testing. I think I will run it for about two weeks. I am… very nervous about it. The thought of people actually playing the whole game is both terrifying and exhilarating. I’ll probably shake when those first reactions arrive 😩.

This is not a call for beta testers! I need to organize myself first. So please, don’t send me applications yet!

The ship is not yet quite docked, but firm land is on sight. And what a journey it has been, uh? I hope the week goes amazing to you all! 🌹
