Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!

I have published few things during the past weeks but I never had the chance to introduce myself, so as today I am sharing a board about my favourite activities, I thought I might take this opportunity to tell you something about me. My name is Mizar and I will turn 23 on May 7th, I live in Vesuvia and I am currently working as an apprentice at Asra’s shop with Aleph (@shauniart), who by the way is also my closest friend. So, as I’ve already said this board is about my pastimes and passions:

• Baking - One day I was in Nadia’s library looking for some book about plants and I ran into this old weird looking one, I grabbed it and it had a sweet smell to it. I later found out that even if it didn’t really have written recepies, it was indeed a book about baking: to bake something you had to literally smell the instructions, step by step. It was hard at first, but I think I’m getting better with time and practice! And I really love the fact that to get a good cake you have to use both practical and mental skills, who doesn’t love a good challenge?

• Birdwatching - I spend a lot of time outside, wandering through fields and woods on my own, I like sitting somewhere quiet and observe the world. I especially enjoy watching birds, I think their behavior is really fascinating and I love the sound of their chirping, the shape and colours of their feathers that I also like to collect. I usually hunt those that fell on the ground while they were flying from a tree to another. It was during one of this occasions that I found my familiar, or I should say his egg.

• Astronomy - Nighttime is probably my favourite time of the day, the city is empty and everyone is asleep and I am left with myself and my thoughts. I like to spend my time on the balcony on top of Asra’s shop and study the stars and their movements. Sometimes I like to think they speak to me and only I can understand them.

• Taking notes - I love writing everything down at the end of the day. I’ve got tons of pages, Asra usually brings me some new type of paper each time he comes back from one of his travels. My favourite probably is a thin light blue kind made out of something very similar to silk, he said that it was made out of the cocoon of some butterfly that only eats nectar from blue flowers and only lives for one night. When I run out of pages I start writing on any kind of surface similar to it I can find. In our house there are literally hundreds of flying pages filled up with thoughts, drawings and annotations of any kind, from recepies to detailed descriptions of leaves and plants and their properties.

• Playing the Flute - In my mind there is no memory of a time where I wasn’t able to play the flute. It has always been part of my life and I feel it’s the instrument that best reflects my inner self.

• Painting - Aleph was the one to introduce me to the art of painting. It was her turn to clean the common room and she accidentally knocked down a stack of paper I had left piled up on a table - I confess I can be really messy sometimes. While she was trying to put everything back together she found some notes on birds, I remember she showed me the page I had written about this blue feathered one and it had this really bad sketch on one side. She laughed and said that if I wanted to draw birds and actually remember which one they were she was more than willing to give me some (”they’re free for you cause we’re friends and I really can’t stand the idea of having ugly drawings under my roof”) drawing and painting classes - she really is the only true artist among the two of us LOL. So we’ve been painting together ever since. I am proud to say I really got better with time and now I have tons of anatomically correct drawings of all kinds of birds.
