as funny as the hc is that he sleeps in those ridiculous old timey night gowns, I wanted an excuse to draw his physique to conceptualize some ideas better without all those clothes over it lol

And bc I also have mad brainrot still here's some headcanons I have abt Alastor's sleeping habits:

he hates sleep as a concept and puts it off for as long as he can - the defenselessness of being unconscious bothers him, he doesn't lucid dream so he's at his own mind's mercy and he also thinks it's a glorious waste of time - then crashes for several days straight.

The hotel residents as a result both think that he's a morning person bc he's always up before they are and randomly disappears for a few days, presumably to do his shady overlord shit elsewhere in town - but he's really just recuperating; not that he'd tell them.

he goes to sleep like a vampire: stiff as a plank, on his back, hands folded over the blanket. He is also very meticulous about blanket and pillow placement.

Because he doesn't have a regular sleep cycle and as a result little to no actual bed-time routine, he only brushes his teeth sporadically, resulting in less than ideal dental hygiene. Conversely, he is otherwise very meticulous about his appearance.

Despite this he moves a lot in his sleep, so despite the last point he still ends up half rotated and tangled in his bed sheets or falls off the bed entirely at some point.
