BOOK I, CHAPTER II ✦ September 17th, 1945
The year has truly begun-- classes are in full swing and the buzz regarding Grindlewald’s defeat and Professor Achebe’s death has only finally begun to slow as a new wave of excitement has taken over as the students wait with bated breath to see who will being playing in the first Quidditch game of the year.
The students crowd outside Professor Brown’s classroom each morning crossing their fingers that they’ll be the first to catch a lucky glimpse of the first matchup.
“I heard it’s going to be Gryfffindor vs. Slytherin,” a third year Ravenclaw announces rather confidently, "I’ve gone through the schedules of the past fifteen years and my calculations indicate it’s the most likely first match-up.”
“Bollocks-- I heard that Professor Brown told his 7th years it’s going to be Hufflepuff vs. Ravenclaw,” another responds with equal vigor.
It’s only a matter of time before the remaining alternates are thrown out and the students are no further than they were when they began.
Finally, there’s a squeal from a group of 6th year girls as Professor Brown exits his classroom a neatly rolled banner tucked under each arm. To the right of his classroom door he unveils the first banner-- a pattern of yellow and black tacked against the ancient stone wall.
“Hufflepuff! It’s Hufflepuff!” a young girl calls out, alerting the group of the first team as they eagerly await to see who the badgers will be facing.
Professor Brown takes his sweet time, savoring the excitement in the air as he slowly unrolls the second banner, only for it to appear blank as he returns to back to his classroom without a word, to the dismay (and anger) of the students. A blank banner? What was that to mean?
They wait a few minutes in mass confusion, but eventually begin to disperse, until only one student is left. Donned in deep green robes, hair slicked back Head Boy badge pinned to his chest, he is unmistakably Tom Riddle...the Tom Riddle. Gingerly removing his wand from his pocket, he steps toward the banner, examining it with a quiet smirk.
“Revelio.”
And there it is-- the banner begins to change color, revealing House Slytherin in all it’s silver and green glory as Tom Riddle walks quietly away.
It’s bound to be a good game.
It’s house pride time! This week’s points will effect the outcome of the first game (Gryffindors and Ravenclaws posts will be counted to the team of the mun’s choice!) You’re welcome to complete as many or as few of these as you’d like!

Write a self para about your character’s reaction to the first Quidditch game. Feel free to include:
Who they are supporting and why?
Are they are player, a spectator, or entirely uninterested?
Who do they think will win?
Challenge #002 (+10 points)
Make an edit (moodboard, playlist, aesthetic, ect.) that highlights your character’s pride for their own house!
Challenge #003 (+10 points)
Write a self para about how your character has exemplifies their house traits during their time at Hogwarts
Challenge #004 (+10 points for each reply)

Great question nonny-- I would say the dash is actually quite active, especially for a literate rp. I’m genuinely floored by how incredible all the members are and how much love and dedications they have for their characters!

Ahhh! Yes! As the plot progresses there are a couple characters that will be unlocked, however, I’m hesitant to allow Tom to be a playable character in this rp, for a number of reasons, but there are still plenty of open characters so it’ll be a little while before any new faces show up!

HOGWARTS CLUBS | a breakdown
Below is a breakdown of the clubs Hogwarts has to offer. For additional info about any of the clubs, feel free to send an ask to the main or take a look at the EXTRACURRICULARS page
ASTRONOMY CLUB
Head Professor: Leonora Edgecomb (assistant professor: Irina Rakepick)
Location: Astronomy Tower
Meets: Thursday at midnight; occasionally meets at additional times to view special events like eclipses
Sample Activities: stargazing/tracking, study of the lunar phases, development of celestial spells
Additional Info:
Potluck-style, in that everyone is encouraged to bring food
Full moon nights tend to attract more students
Not a candle in sight, students have rely on the moonlight for vision (Professor Edgecomb banned the use of vision-enhancing spells during club hours
CHARMS CLUB
Head Professor: Isadora Bones
Location: East Towers, Charms Classroom
A large classroom arranged in the shape of a small colosseum (high-rise seating in semi-circle that gives way to a demonstration space in the center
Club meetings usually take place in the demonstration space/the first row of benches
Meets: Tuesday early afternoon
Sample Activities: spell design/experimentation, exam revisions, individual help
Additional Info:
Club functions as both leisure and academic club. On busier days (around exam season) the club functions as a sort of “office hours” for Professor Bones
During less busy times of the year Professor Bones aids in spell design and helps students with analyzing of existing spells
Professor Bones will curse students out if something goes awry during class
DIVINATION CLUB
Head Professor: Astrid Estelle (assistant professor: Horace Slughorn)
Location: North Tower; Professor Estelle’s office
Professor Estelle’s office is probably the most lavishly decorated of all the professor’s offices (Headmaster Dippet’s office, though fairly larger in size, pales in comparison)
Includes a balcony the overlooks the Great Lake
Meets: Wednesday late afternoon
Sample Activities: astrology & zodiac readings, crystal ball gazing, palmistry
Additional Info:
Hogwarts gossip plus french roast masala chai are a hallmark of club meetings (aka more akin to social hour than an academic club)
Is only second to the Slug Club in terms of networking opportunities-- if you’re hoping to get a job or internship at the especially elusive Department of Mysteries, Divination club is the place to be
Club members can receive personal readings at meetings
DUELING CLUB:
Head Professor: Irina Rakepick (assistant professors: Horace Slughorn, Astrid Estelle, & Anita Fairbanks)
Professor Dumbledore has also been known to drop by
Location: Dungeons (Dueling Room)
Meets: Tuesday evenings
Sample Activities: dueling practice, nonverbal spell practice, professor demonstrations
Additional Info:
The Dueling Room has a number of protective spells that work to prevent students from maintaining any true injuries (or at least dampen the effects of a spell)
Numerous professors stop by as guests to demonstrate their specific skillset through dueling
HERBOLOGY/CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES CLUB
Head Professors: Anita Fairbanks & Sylvia Plank
Location: Greenhouse #1, Forbidden Forest, Creature Reserve
Rotates to a different location every week
Meets: Monday late afternoon
Sample Activities: feeding creatures, harvesting plants, experimental magic (i.e. cross-breeding plants)
Additional Info:
Nicknamed “BioMagic Club”
Originally were separate clubs, but after realizing that most student who joined one, were in the other, Professor Fairbanks and Professor Plank decided to pool resources and unite the club as one
N.E.W.T-level BioMagic club members are occasionally allowed to miss class to attend field trips, especially if they are related to their future careers
HISTORY OF MAGIC
Head Professor: Cutberth Binns
Professor Binns tends to fall asleep during meetings, so the club is primarily student-led
Location: Lower Floor East, History of Magic Classroom
A dusty room that tends to be far too large a space considering the number of students that show up
Contains a number of bookshelves with books even older that the library has
Meets: Wednesday Evenings
Sample Activities: library archival visits, discussions/discourse or magical issues, restoration of magical artifacts
Additional Info:
Some of Hogwarts’s other ghosts are known to make appearances at meetings are often willing to comment on certain topics of discussion
Wands are put aside in a special box at the beginnings of meetings should discussions veer for the more heated side
The only extracirricular Professor Ogden has shown some interest in, as he had participated in a few meetings as a silent observer
POTIONS CLUB
Head Professor: Horace Slughorn
Location: Dungeons, Potions Classroom
Meets: Monday Evenings
Sample Activities: experimental brewing, ingredient collection, cauldron cleaning
Additional info:
Essentially a version the Slug Club without any of the perks or glamour, with a slightly more academic focus
Meetings sway in between being exciting learning opportunities and being a hour of listening to Slughorn talk while doing his dirty work
