Heyo MXP Crew!
I’ve just been getting into your pod (I’m listening to Eden’s Grove right now) and I just wanted to shoot a couple questions about game systems; I think I read Eden was played on Monster of the Week? As someone that’s a relative novice to ttrpgs (only have experience with dnd 5e), would y’all say it’s a pretty approachable system to dive into? I’ve really enjoyed the show so far and the system seems to work really well in it, so I’ve been tossing around the idea of running a few one shots with my group!
I’ve also been dabbling in Nostalgia Town a bit and saw the game system is created entirely by Rowan (which is honestly super impressive) - is there somewhere I can find more info on Spirit Week?
Powered by the Apocalypse is a great rpg system for beginners! It is super simple, only ever using 2d6, and focuses on role play over statistics. Because it is a simple system, you can find thousands of alternative games that have been rewritten into a multitude of genres. Eden’s Grove, Patrons, Bypass System, ToysRyou, Honey Song, and Spirit Week are all Powered by the Apocalypse games!
I might suggest Dungeon World if you are unsure of what to try first and have only played D&D. It is a rework of PbtA to include other dice for attacks and damage rolls, but still has the rp and class/playbook system of PbtA.
As for Spirit Week, it is unfortunately still in the revising stages. We intend to inform everyone on social media when it’s ready to be played and where to find it. Rowan really appreciates your interest!
Thank you for listening to our podcast!
We hope you’re enjoying it!

I mean we were instructed to boost turnout so I think we’re in the clear. Anyone know an embroiderer skilled in capes and pew runners?

We heard the campaign didn’t have enough fire. So we gave the PCs a free cast of fireball at 9th level once per short rest. You spoke, we listened. Sorry it took us so long to correct this!

I love the reveal in Over the Garden Wall that the story isn't actually set in the past but that Wirt has been going through this whole adventure in a shitty last minute Halloween costume he threw together and only half intended for other people to see him wearing. Imagine travelling through a creepy magical forest that seems to be stuck in the 1800s for several days while being hunted by an evil shadowy tree man who wants your soul but you're wearing an old power ranger mask from 2008 and a cape that's just a beach towel. That's pretty much what Wirt's outfit is equivalent to and that's such a big mood
