I am a huge fan of the Tomb Raider franchise yet I have only ever finished the original Tomb Raider on the Sega Saturn and the first one in the most recent trilogy. Looks like I will have another "first" game to play.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to all the friends of the Mind of Smoothie!
For the past couple of years I released an episode of the Mind of Smoothie podcast on New Year's day. Unfortunately there is no episode today. But that doesn't mean that an episode isn't on it's way.
Coming this Thursday a new episode will be released. On the next episode of the podcast we will be looking at the 1981 film Ghostkeeper!
I initially considered this film for last year's "New Year" selection but went with Bloody New Year instead. I will say that after re-watching this film again and watching a few other reviews about the film, I think I gained a deeper appreciation for it. I will say that it might not be for everyone, but I definitely think it is worth checking out at least one time.
I hope this little preview whet your appetite for the upcoming podcast. That's all your getting for now. I'll link the trailer below.

It's been quite a few years since I gave the 1996 Christmas On Death Row album a listen. I figured there was no better way to kick of the holiday season of 2023.
This album released less than three months after 2Pac was shot and killed in Las Vegas. It was definitely a time of change at Death Row. Dr. Dre had departed the label earlier that year and just one glance at the track list shows that this album was a showcase of the new and upcoming talent on the Row.
For starters can we all agree that the album cover is dope?
Album art aside, this album was certainly an unexpected surprise coming from the top "gangsta rap" labels of the time. The album is packed with holiday classics like "O Holy Night," "Silver Bells," and "Frosty the Snowman." There are also some originals like Nate Dogg's "Be Thankful," "Party 4 Da Homies," and "Santa Claus Goes Straight To The Ghetto" by Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound.
As I was listening to this album, I was surprised with just how well it put me into the holiday spirit. It provided a great background ambience while I was working and will definitely be an album that I will revisit again this season and for many more holiday seasons to come.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised with just how good this album is. If you have never listened to this album before or you are looking for some new takes on your holiday favorites, then do yourself a favor and give Christmas On Death Row a listen this holiday season.
