I think people also tend to ignore that Russia was doing the exact same things that the British and French were doing when they were exploiting China in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Russia conquered land, settled ethnic Russians (e.g. Harbin Russians), forced incredibly unfair and exploitative treaties, and violently quelled any resistance (e.g. the Amur anti-Chinese Pogroms). Russia is also clearly a face in this famous political cartoon that you will always find when learning about Western imperialism in China. People who decry Western colonialism but ignore Russian colonialism are sorely mistaken that Russia was doing anything different than the Western powers did.

Do you people actually believe that white Russians are native to Sakhalin, Kamchatka, Yakutia etc.? Why are you people so hellbent on proving that Russia somehow magically became the biggest country on earth without conquest, assimilation and genocide of natives?
