Pixel scene-complex animation. Commission This commission was made for the user “Verruckt”. He asked me to make his character walk on a battlefield (not the game), while shooting his weapon. This order took me about a week to complete I think that this was the one with which I investigated the most. I had to look for a good reference for the outfit, his weapon and the tank of the first world war. Thanks to my brother. I don´t know if anyone is interested, but ... The character wears the armor of a German soldier.  An MG08 model for the weapon. and a Mark I Tank appears in front. https://paumolillustrations.weebly.com/pixel.html

This shot was far and away the most technically demanding shot in Hellbent
So here’s how we managed it.
Tumblr media
Even from the animatic it was pretty obvious it was going to be hard. The camera was moving dynamically past an animating background with a SFX element in focus.
It was pretty clear to me this shot was going to need to be partly or fully 3d.
We’ve used 3d reference in the videos before. But this was the first time it would be IN the actual video, so I needed to convince Ben it could be done and blended in a way that wouldn’t stand out awfully against Kressent’s beautiful backgrounds.
Tumblr media
I was able to get started on this shot pretty early but that turned out to be a double sided sword. I had time to try things but I didn’t have character animation or even final background reference until much later.
Tumblr media
So I started blocking it out in 3d.
(old bg colors from the con preview)
Tumblr media
Matching the 2d truck and van in 3d would have been near impossible, so I opted to use the 2d flash asset we already had.
Tumblr media
Then the flash asset match moved manually to the 3d reference.
The shot was slightly re-timed from this version
(rendering the background  to a video format flash can play turned out to be a real pain) Next up was set dressing
Tumblr media
Heilos got me a ton of nice little assets to throw around the scene
Tumblr media
and starrrrsssss
I used blender and cycles for rendering. Lots of janky tricks. but here’s the main one for getting alpha textures to work nicely on the 2d billboards.
Tumblr media
For weirdos who are into that kind of thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then it was just a matter of animating the Fire moving through a windscreen and a complex 3D camera move.
Tumblr media
Easy!
Tumblr media
At this point I had the 3d render of the background
And a folder of swf files for each element in the shot. (using PBnDumbexport)
Tumblr media
And it was up to AE to glue all this stuff together
Tumblr media
Over all I’m pretty happy with how this shot turned out, few problems, some I didn’t even notice until doing this write up.
Kressent was literally killing herself with backgrounds so there was actually another shot that used this 3D background
software used flash cs6, after effects cc, blender 2.7
Here’s a discord I’m on a lot if you have any questions:

Pixel scene duo- Complex animation Second order for the user “Songbird” on furry Amino. He asked me to make his chara carrying his little friend on his shoulders. First time I try to do something with isometric perspective, almost... the idea was to move the stage little by little ... but then I realized that I had problems with the trees ... so I made a whole static scenario. https://paumolillustrations.weebly.com/pixel.html

Pixel scene -complex animation Commission for the user “ Terafuji ” on furaffinity. The idea was to make her character using her powers. We didn´t know very well where it could be, but when I saw a design of it with the coat, I gave the idea of a forest. And this was the result. The fire and the tail, were what took me longer, I made like 3 versions of each. Especially of the fluffy tail, at first it moved in the opposite direction and bothered its cap. Pixel price

EDIT: This post is inclusive to ALL art forms.
Likes can only go so far for artists. Artists may exclusively upload their artwork to tumblr, or don’t have the time to use other sites and prefer tumblr over deviantART due to its simplicity, but the tagging system can make it harder to navigate. Many artists on tumblr tag with high-traffic tags or use their own tags to prevent tag clogging which eventually become lost. That’s why it’s very important to reblog an artist’s work.
I’m not trying to push you to ruin your blog’s aesthetic or something, nor am I saying that “you must absolutely reblog your favourite artist’s work or you’re trash”, all I’m saying is if you truly want to support your favourite artist, instead of just liking their posts, try to reblog them once in a while. The more reblogs they receive, the more exposure/notes/followers they may receive, and it’s just one of the easiest ways to show you care about them.
*This does not mean to reblog unsourced artwork or works reuploaded to another person’s blog without permission (re:stolen). Nor does this mean to reblog artworks without the artist’s consent, even if this case is slim.

(Icon 100x100px 1-20 frames) Icon commission for the user Yakiq on Furry amino She wanted to do the same move of the  gif “ nico nico nii” Personally I don´t like to work based on gif or animations already created ... but for this case I had to do something from scratch, like the legs and the tails.

Pixel scene limit animation for the user “Devilish Demons” I was asked to make his character in a dark and terrifying forest, under the incessant rain and with a flashlight in his hand. I tried to make faces to the trees so they look more spooky.  Pixel art price: https://paumolillustrations.weebly.com/pixel.html
