So much agree, both in terms of the quality of the abilities, and the implementation

The Champion's abilities were seamlessly integrated into Link's existing moveset: charge a spin attack for Urbosa's Fury, charge a jump for Revali's Gale, z-target for Daruk's protection, and Mipha's Grace automatically activated upon death. The Sage abilities? Sure, let's run around like headless chickens on the battlefield, more often than not away from Link, so the player can chase us while trying to avoid enemies, in order to deliver an underwhelming attack. Having a separate menu where you can select their abilities (by replacing the horse whistle button for example) would have done wonders in streamlining their use.

I'm mixed on their quality: idc about Sidon's ability (idc about how it overpowers Zora weapons, I don't play Zelda thinking about min/max strategies) and Riju's implementation is obnoxious, but I like Yunobo and Tulin. Yunobo is really useful to smash ores, create an instant updraft when rolling over grass, and to hunt + insta-cook meat. And Tulin's ability is well-suited to paraglide over large distances, whereas we have many options for upwards movement.

That said, I do like how the Sages run around with you in the overworld, you never feel alone, and that's a big difference compared to botw, where you're always alone, and Hyrule (by design) feels a lot bigger and lonely. Since totk is about community, this change fits the themes

Yknow what, I'm just gonna say it. I prefer the champions abilities in botw than in totk. They all felt like they had purpose, and did their job well.

Daruk had an amazing shield that could block from any angle; Yunobo can yeet himself. Urbosa's lightning could shock multiple enemies at once; Riju needs me to shoot an arrow to aim her. Mipha's grace came in clutch constantly with her heals; Sidon... what do you do again? Sorry mate but like I don't even remember because it was so useless. And finally, in a world of cliffs and mountains, Revali's gale lifting us up was great; Tulin, while I'd prefer your gale to go up instead of sideways, you're too precious for me to judge you.

Also, Prowl did kill Mallowstar by snapping his neck, but I understand it may not be obvious in the art because I didn't want to look at pictures of broken necks for reference. Regardless he died near instantly.
