happysad - Zanim pójdę

It’s my first post in this series, I'm still deliberating which parts to include so it can be informative and not messy at the same time. I divided the vocabulary into two parts and the second one is supposed to contain the easier, more basic words - let’s see if you can manage without checking them? Almost all verbs, adjectives, nouns, pronouns were linked to websites with their respective charts of conjugation, declension or whatever other sorcery works for them. If there’a a word without a link and you think it should have one, it’s highly possible I omitted it on purpose because the word has its specific meaning (the one used in the song) only in the shown form and I didn’t want to confuse anyone.

*As you can see this speech part, “swój”, can be a little tricky. “Swój” - along with mój/my,mine; twój/your; jego/his,its; jej/hers; nasz/our; wasz/your; ich/theirs - is a part of speech called a possessive pronoun. And while mój, twój, jego, jej, nasz, wasz, ich are all assigned to a specific pronoun (so to the first, second or third person in singular or plural form), "swój" is like a free spirit and can almost always replace any of them. That's why it's called impersonal possessive pronoun. We can use it when the owner is also the subject of the sentence, no matter what person are we using [x]. 

Examples, based on [x]: 

To jest mój pies. - That is my dog. "To" is a subject in this sentence, that's why the pronoun "mój" was used.

(Ja) karmię swojego psa. - (I) feed my dog. "Ja" is a subject here, the dog belongs to the subject, so we can either use the pronoun "mojego" or "swojego" (basic forms: "mój" and "swój").

(Ja) nie karmię mojego psa, a twojego. - (I) am not feeding my dog but your dog. Here the speaker wants to emphasise who the dogs belong to, so the pronouns "mojego" and "twojego" are used (basic forms: "mój" and "twój") but it would be completely understandable if we said "(Ja) nie karmię swojego psa, a twojego."

**In this song "to" (which usually means "this") plays the role of a hidden "to be". Kind of. The sentence where it first appears, "Miłość to nie pluszowy miś ani kwiaty", has the same meaning as "Miłość to nie jest pluszowy miś ani kwiaty" and we can translate it as "Love(, it) is not a teddy bear nor flowers". However, a change between sentences with and without "to be" is not always so smooth. We usually drop the "to" part if we use to be/być and that requires a change of cases. 

Example: Kasia to kłamczucha. = Kasia jest kłamczuchą. - Kasia is a liar. In the first sentence we used a nominative (so the basic form of a noun) in feminine form. In the second sentence the verb forces us to answer a question "with whom?", "with what?", that's why we use the ablative case for the noun.
