thinking about the dynamic between wei wuxian and wen ning where they are neither platonic nor romantic but a secret third thing. as close as only someone who died and someone who summoned them back could be. familiar like a body part is familiar. physically intimate, but in a "held him while his stomach was cut open to carve the golden core out" or "put his ribs back into his broken chest and gave his body permission to take revenge" way. sharing a bond so deep it becomes unsettling. wielding someone like a weapon/allowing yourself to be wielded. saving each other over and over again to the point where you can't keep track of all the sacrifices and the debts don't matter anymore. suffering from wounds no one else can understand, missing people no one else remembers. neither of them chose this, yet both are still there for each other no matter what. i am so normal about them

I don't think any protagonist can ever top Wei 'Yiling Laozu' Wuxian. No one is doing it like him. He is an icon. He can shoot arrows blindfolded. He is a prankster. He falls for a boy and decides immediately that he must have said boy's attention on him at all time. He is necromancer exacting his vengeance. He is just three years old. He is a flirt. He has his first kiss in his twenties. He does not remember your name. He does remember that one song his crush sang to him in a cave when he was injured and feverish. He is a sunshine boy. He survived the hell of hells. He died and was unhappily brought back to life. He's the bizarre genius, the miraculous hero, the force of the rebellion, the flower that blooms alone. He walks the single plank bridge alone. He is the awesome gay uncle who knows everything. He is a pretty boy. He is the most moral, steadfast person you know. He is just a man throwing flowers to his love. He rips his hard won talent out to repay a debt that never was. He is a sister's boy. He is an abuse survivor. He is an urban legend. He is one of the most handsome men of his time. He has so much trauma. He plants children like radishes. He threw the arrow he was shot with from a rooftop and killed someone. He is a talented musician. He is a scheming fox. He can drink you under the table. He is so fucking tired of this bullshit. He has probably long since burned his tastebuds with the spice he puts in his food. He is broke. He kisses skeletons on their hands in gratitude. He confesses his deep, abiding love in the middle of being held hostage. He attempts the impossible and succeeds. He is an untamed hero, standing against a world condemning the innocent. He is everything.

The cultivation world: Wei Wuxian is better than us cause we’d never have saved anyone from an unjust death, especially not someone who killed us before.
Jin Guangyao: If people were as good as Wei Wuxian, my clan would never have had the chance to kill him.
Jiang Cheng: Wow, Wei Wuxian really is better than me because he gave me his golden core with no thoughts of repayment or retribution for me leading an army to murder him. I am a clown.
The damn author herself: Wei Wuxian is better than everyone except for his husband, who matches his morality and righteousness.
This fandom for some fucking reason: Actually, not only does Wei Wuxian suck, but he’s just as bad as all the other characters, because why else would they hate him? You can’t hate good people, that’s illegal. Critical analysis is my specialty!

the absolute *favourite* part abt ladynoir for me is always the delicious-discoveries-period where they are Pikachu Facing after every little thing the other does that goes completely in the opposite direction of what they think their partner would do in their minds. so, naturally, i had to write a fic about it. it’s completely about chat noir surprising ladybug time and time again and giving her some small glimpses as to who he is beneath the mask.
summary:
Marinette was well accustomed with the conundrums of daily living but it still stumped her beyond belief when she concluded this simple but wholly true fact:
That while Ladybug knew Chat Noir like no other, she wasn’t even close to understanding him.
________
In which, Marinette discovers all the little ways in which Chat Noir unknowingly takes a hammer to her preconceived notions about him and smashes them to bits.

a post-identity reveal au where parisians are having an ABSOLUTE field day over ladynoir and adrinette dating openly, pitting both pairs against each other to win the title of the ultimate it-couple. like there are serious SERIOUS shipwars reaching stan twt, people fighting over which one’s superior: the hot superhero couple laydnoir or the wholesome talentfest couple adrinette. on the one hand, people have been hardcore shipping ladybug/chatnoir since their debut days, vying for the smallest morsels of pda thru the course of their akuma fighting ventures, click baiting news titles incessantly, manifesting this relationship into reality while on the other hand, every teen girl is shooketh to the core that the smokeshow model adrien agreste is dating this hella cute up-and-coming fashion designer out of NOWHERE one day, like after years of being somewhat restrained and uber careful about contact with girls on camera, adrien is fucking DRAPED over marinette in front of any and all paparazzi coverage, both of them seeming utterly and hopelessly in love. there are instagram & tiktok edits, there are twitter thread analyses, there is a whole halloween costuming couple trend – everyone and their mother is chiming into the debate and adrien & marinette are just having the time of their lives, laughing their asses off as paris and the world descends into chaos over their very much singular relationship.

genuinely did not think i would fall headfirst into the miraculous fandom once again but here we are. anyway, i’m writing a longfic about hawkmoth finding out ladybug’s identity and then, as all nefarious supervillians must do, blackmailing her about it. there’s some serious shit going on with adrien, too, because ofcourse it is and idk how this fic will eventually turn out but expect some decent amount of angst and chaos and badass chat noir moments coz i’m always starving for those.
here’s the link for the fic which is titled with enough angsty vagueness as “don’t save me”

the reverse-nurturing urge to put angst ridden, narratively downtrodden characters through even more angst and even more emotionally challenging scenarios so they could hit absolute rock bottom and climb their way uphill without fear of failure and understand just how awesome they are and show everyone else the very same like no babe, i do NOT wanna give them cookies and blankets; how about a walk through metaphorical lava instead????

not trying to be a contrarian or anything (ok, maybe a little) but it’s just so funny to me how little of a fuck i give about nico. like don’t get me wrong, i like his character well enough but he’s not really memorable for me?? the trio is where my enjoyment of the books is at but ik for alot of people nico’s THE adored character & i always feel so weird for not having even 15% of that love for him. like i couldn’t care less about the lotus casino easter egg & i just cannot relate with most of the fandom when it comes to him which is whack because usually the fandom’s faves are always my faves too. that said, don’t come at me, i’ve nothing against the little guy, just an observation about myself okay. 😭😭

percy’s sheer ability to trust in people is so beautiful yet so heartwrenching. like grover betrays him in the start?? percy takes him on the quest because he still believes the best of his friend. annabeth uses him and is cryptic with him?? he gives up his life for her TWICE because he believes she’s the better one to get the quest complete. luke backstabs him and fights him?? percy still wants his friend back, still hesitates, still tries to have a dialogue with him, believing that luke is still worth saving, still worth the hurt it will inevitably cause him. and it’s just so baffling how this sassy little kid has so much heart to give that it always, always seems like he is overextending himself for the people he cares about.

love love LOVE how cozy and warm that last scene with percy and sally is. their home feels truly lived-in and they both revolve around each other with such ease and comfort. it’s not just that sally is percy’s safe space, it’s also that percy is sally’s safe space. their relationship is so tight, so tested and yet their love for each other trumps everything else in their lives. yes, that includes poseidon and annabeth but those connections are inherently a different kind. this mother-son duo is unbreakable and i adore how the show has enforced that so plainly.

it’s the way percy said “but where’s the glory in that?” in that sardonic, resigned way of his, having undertook an already failed quest to curb a war vs luke’s speech about glory in the beginning, knowing that luke himself failed on his own quest and how glory is really that one true currency demigods can deal the gods’ affections in. it’s percy saying he is doing it for the glory, when that is farthest thing from his motivations vs luke trying and failing to gain the glory that would make the snubs from the gods chafe lighter.

when i first read the books as a kid, i interpreted “fails to save what matters most in the end” as a reference to percy’s failure at saving sally the first time around but with the changed betrayal scene in the show and percy mentioning this line along with his appeal to luke (“this is not you, this is kronos”), it makes me think that maybe that line refers to luke. maybe luke is the one percy fails to save in the end and obv, that responsibility doesn’t lie with percy but this prophecy is tailor-made for his perspective and i don’t doubt that the percy we see having that conversation with luke wouldn’t have felt regret over failing to persuade luke to not turn his back on them. which is just...so painful to think about.

no but the fact that one day we might get to SEE the character development and evolution of percy going from a reluctant heroic figure to completely embodying what it means to be THE leader of camp halfblood is something i await dearly because percy is soooo important amongst his fellow peers. the way he boosted their morale and never ever stopped thinking of them and their well-being is very personal to me. we often forget that annabeth wasn’t the only one percy left godhood for–it was also to bargain for a better life for the other demigods. percy really is their true leader.

just cannot get over the fact that percy, while burning food for sally, told her fondly about his new friend luke while expressing anger and doubt about his father poseidon and by the end of the season, his dynamic with these two has totally reversed–now an enemy of luke, betrayed by him while poseidon, someone percy had no expectations from, has proved that he cares, that he wants to do better and establish a more present relationship with percy.

something about percy winning against ares by drawing first blood, not giving a fuck that it’s the god of war he is making an enemy out of vs him being caught totally unaware by luke and luke drawing first blood because percy hesitated, because this is his friend, because making an enemy out of a god is way more preferable over making an enemy out of a friend. percy winning against insurmountable odds vs him losing because his loyalty is truly and undoubtedly fatal.
