Aparecium (21+) - HP Universe - Brand New & Recruiting!

The wizarding war nearly destroyed Hogwarts at its very foundation. The Ministry, finally given just enough to justify its permanent closing. Before the doors were locked indefinitely, Newt Scamander stepped away from retirement to give the school its final chance. A chance it truly needs.

Hogwarts begins its rebirth under a new concept, a new head. Hogwarts University for Universal Magics. A magical university to reignite magic conversation between those of all walks of life. Magia est, in omnibus nobis. The first step in rebranding and rebuilding. A new motto and new hope.

The ministry hopes that with this rebuild and rebranding, as well as through the reassurances of Newt Scamander himself, that the dark times have passed. Peace is the tone that will set the pace for the next century. However, there lies an evil within Hogwart’s own walls that threatens to destroy everything that they’d fought to preserve.

There are talks of a resurgence of Death Eaters. Rumors of a forgotten descendant of Salazar Slytherin and rumors that the Dark Mark has been seen yet again in the skies. Whisperings of muggle crimes that weren’t actually performed by muggles. It’s all slow to make its way to the Ministry’s ears and even slower to be believed.

A new rumor has sprouted in the halls of Hogwarts. The Chamber of Secrets that was emptied all those years ago at the hands of the Boy Who Lived, is said now to be full again. Another creature was deposited in the chamber to protect the secrets and treasures that the headmaster himself has been sworn to protect.

There’s a new evil within Hogwarts that threatens the very students within the school. A student/professor themselves, they are hellbent in releasing the monster contained within the chamber to complete what Lord Voldemort himself couldn’t.

To top it all off, The other magical schools are invited for an exchange program of sorts. To celebrate the rebranding of Hogwarts and the revitalization of the remaining schools. Beauxbaton, Castelobruxo, Durmstrang, Ilvermorny, Mahoutokoro, and Uagadou all sent professors and current students to live and learn for the school year at Hogwarts University for Universal Magics.

The time of Ancient Greece is best known for its advances in art, poetry and technology. The Greeks excel in philosophy, mathematics, literature, astronomy and medicine, all at the behest and guidance of the Gods and Goddesses they worship.

The people of Greece have much to thank their deities for and pay tribute to them through prayers, sacrifices and festivals. In recent times, however, the Gods and Goddesses have noticed their offerings dwindling in numbers and frequency. The people of Greece are turning their backs on them in favour of a new, allegedly, monotheistic and omnipotent God.

This is the work of twelve Evangelists, all of whom having travelled to Greece from opposing regions of the world and all with the same message and mission: to convert the Greeks to the ways of their God, after having a dream compelling them to do so.

The Greek Gods and Goddesses are, understandably, vexed and very much so divided. Half are enraged, believing that they should punish the mortals for daring to defy them and rule through fear, whilst the other half are compassionate and believe that they should become more positively present in mortal lives, in order to influence genuine loyalty.

This divide is causing serious tension on Mount Olympus. The deities are on the brink of a civil war, being unable to agree with one another and constantly clashing with each other’s approaches. This, in turn, is causing serious instability within the natural balance of Ancient Greece. Whether it is freakish weather disasters or famine, Greece is suffering.

With more people praying to and honouring this new religion, power is being sapped from the pantheon to this unknown entity. The Greek Gods fear being forgotten in place of this New God, for their existence depends on the beliefs of mortalkind. If they are forgotten about, they will simply cease to exist.

It’s up to these farmers as well as the continued efforts of the town to either save their community, or fall victim to the lobbying and misfortune that Pufferfish Drilling Corp has brought with them…

The concept is as follows

15 men + 15 women spending 10 days in the pods, where they can talk to each other one on one through a speaker but not see each other. It's more like speed dating at first, but as the days go on, the singles can choose to have longer dates with their specified single(s)

Couples only meet face to face after a marriage proposal is accepted (which happens towards the end of that ten days)

After that, all the engaged couples go to a couples retreat for a week

Then after the retreat they are thrust into the real world to see if they truly work together and are capable of living together, while working on planning their wedding which will occur at the end of the four weeks of living together.

With that being said there ARE a few things to keep in mind...

Characters are going to be between the ages of 25 and 36

Faceclaims are meant to be real people, HOWEVER, they are to be kept secret by the writers until the "engagement" stage of the Love is Blind process.

4 characters max per writer (but please only take what you can truly handle)

For the romance aspect, consent is key and characters ending up engaged is not actually required. If you want to have your character be a shit starter, leave the pods and then come back during some of the "getting to know each other irl by living together stage" then so be it. We want this to be fun and dramatic, just like the show!~

Writing expectation is lazy lit. We're expecting a chunky paragraph or so when characters are getting to know each other in the pods, and then post pod life, 250+ words per post.

Roleplay Is Not Dead Nor Doth It Sleep

There's a post going around about how text-based, freeform roleplay is dead, and I was typing up a huge response to this, with an accompanying guide on how to find roleplayer in 2024, when I realized it might have a bigger reach if I made it its own post. So here's that guide.

I hesitate to say that there isn't a problem with the new format of social media making roleplay more difficult to find, but in the desire to make that point, the OP of the original post has left people with the idea that there's no way for them to get into freeform text roleplay in 2024. Which just isn't true! Here, look at all the ways.

Forums

The link to RPG-Directory to find roleplaying forums is a good start. Once you've found a forum RPG, even if you don't join, there's usually an 'advertising' section on that forum where other forum RPGs post their ads - this may help you to find forums that don't advertise on RPG-D.

Another really good forum to find roleplay on is Barbermonger. Barbermonger is focused on connecting people for one-on-one roleplays.

This last one's going to be weird, but it turns out that there are still people seeking roleplay on the Gaia Online forums after all these years. I think this is delightfully retro and then crowd there seems a little older than average. No pre-existing knowledge of Gaia required.

Tumblr

You can also find forum roleplay groups (as well as tumblr and Discord groups) right here on Tumblr. Usually, the thing to do is to use the search function - search for "[genre] rp" or "[fandom] rp" and sort by "latest." (If you sort by Top, you are likely to find dead RPs.) For example, here's fantasy rp, historical rp, and marvel rp. You can also try jcink rp, as most roleplay forums are hosted on Jcink these days, or discord rp, depending on your favored platform.

There are also tumblr blogs specifically dedicated to advertising roleplays. I'm not super familiar with these nowadays, but just in the process of searching those tags above, I found these:

Reddit is a good place to find Discord roleplays. It's a little heavier on smut-only roleplays than other platforms mentioned here, but it's not impossible to find sexless, plot-based roleplay here either. The original post specifically mentions that 'all the old "omegle but for role play" type websites died out ages ago'. This is mostly true, but not quite! There's still Rolechat. It's a little janky, but what it needs more than anything is a bigger user base. Their Discord server is also a good place to find one on one discord roleplay. It is, of course, free, but if you want to support its development, they have a patreon.

Hey I was hoping you could help. I'm in a group server and they use thr CONFESSION bot and someone is saying some scary things. I've reported them to discord but confessions has a report system too- as they log the users who use it-- does anyone here use that bot and if so is the /REPORT command private/anonymous? I dont want to get flack for reporting the person. they're pretty...scary..

Unfortunately I do not personally have any experience with a confession bot.

Anyone who DOES have experience is heavily encouraged to reply and give their input though!
