I had no stakes in the female custodes, now Im all in this is what 40k is about
I must say the author of the codex fluff story has managed the impossible: they managed not only the first canon appearance of a female custodes, but she also is a fan-favourite now.
Productivity is the name of the game this week, I've busted out 4 models!! I don't understand how I did it or why all I know is that I did 😌
First up is a terminator Librarian , fun sculpt with a dynamic pose really impressed with how many runes they managed to squeeze onto this large man, I also tried my hand at trying a skin colour that I've not done before, turned out pretty well I think 🤔
Next up is the terminator captain, I spent longer on the cloak that the entirety of the model like, why I thought putting flames inside the cloak where you won't see them I'll never know
With them 2 done I thought I'd finally finished the space marine half of the leviathan box, then I found the terminator teleport beacon, I decided to make it feel more salamander and places it in a lava pool 🤘
I also had an excursion to my local GW and found they're having a small Painting comp, so with a few pokes and strokes I knocked out this guy in record time, can't remember the model name but I know it's a free guild mini 😅
There's been a bit of improvement in my speed painting skill, but this is mainly down to practicing and not comparing my final product
Remember y'all, paint the grey, practice a bit a day if you can and don't compare, as comparison is the thief of joy.
I wish I had anything interesting to talk about, for this guy all I can say is this was illegally fast
So I saw I cool mock up of this conversion floating around shortly after leviathan dropped and thought yes gotta make it let's go, then I spent way too long sourcing a hammer and hand flamer ... someone explain why they're always out of stock on bit sites please, then and here's the amazing part of the story I spent roughly 6 hours in him..... Like this quality can't be legal in that time right,
Are there things to improve? probably, will I? No because perfection sucks and being happy with your work doesn't
Fuck perfection, work for yourself, high end artists don't define your work we all grow at our own pace,
Notice the subtle lines, the delicate detailing, the exquisite aerodynamic design
Now here it is currently
Yeah so for some reason I'm finding it difficult to complete projects again maybe I should stop buying and start doing stuff again, just get shit done as I used to say
Head and tail end are stuffed w ultra plush fiber fill and the bulk of the body is packed full of weighted pellets that have a nice crunchy sound when you squeeze it. Not weighed yet, but it feels between 1.5 - 2lbs?
I started this new project a couple days back and it's finally in a position where I am happy to show it off,
also I don't know why I am pushing myself further than I need to with this, last time I pushed this far and hard I hit a terrible bad burnout that lasted a few months..... pray for me y'all
I've always loved the model designs for the gloomspite Gitz, they all just have that unhinged gobbo energy, when the opportunity to paint a loon boss came my way I couldn't say no, this fellow took just a little under 12hrs most of it spent on the mushrooms 😅
Whilst I encourage just getting stuff done and painted, I have to from time to time flex my painting skill and push a little so I don't end up burning out from mediocrity
Speaking of the US public domain, January 1st, 2024 is a big day for another reason.
To provide some brief historical context, for most of its history the US had no federal copyright regime for standalone audio recordings (i.e., as opposed to the audio component of movies and other multimedia productions), instead allowing the individual states to set their own standards. Many states elected to grant perpetual copyright on audio recordings, a state of affairs which was exploited by record companies to ensure that there was functionally no public domain for audio recordings in the US.
This changed in 1972, with the passage of laws that brought audio recordings in line with federal copyright standards. The changes did not apply retroactively, leaving audio recordings created prior to 1972 under the old state-level perpetual copyrights – and since the federal copyright duration in the US is so long, no post-1972 audio recording has been around long enough for its term to expire.
However, further changes to federal copyright law in 2018 allowed very old audio recordings to be placed in the public domain regardless of where they were produced. Initially, this applied only to audio recordings created in 1922 and earlier, which is why we've suddenly seen a bunch of indie productions making use of old dance-hall recordings in the past couple of years. Further provisions to gradually phase out the copyright terms of recordings produced between 1922 and 1972 were also included – and those start kicking in next year, beginning with audio recordings created in 1923.
TL;DR: January 1st, 2024 will be the first time in history that any standalone audio recording has ever entered the US public domain through expiration of the term of its copyright.
If you live in the US and you're a fan of old music, it might be worth looking up what exactly came out in 1923!
It's been a hot minute, I finished the big guy up about a month ago, free time to stop and actually post of catch up on stuff has been at a premium as of late
But any how the gothizzar harvester is finished I'm happy with how it turned out, there are things I could have done better but to be honest it's all future tweaks
