Encouraging signs
POOF! And just like that- we are back at the helm with the job market coming back to life! We have some new, retained SCP unique searches to fill, and we are psyched to get our recently unemployed and employed (but bursting-at-the-seams) candidates back to work and back on track!  With that said, here is one of the heartfelt (Covid- inspired) epiphanies we wish to share with you, our core and most respected candidate class whom we have selected as a member of our most accomplished, skillful and best-in-class candidate pool. The obvious question is then; What does that entail exactly? What makes someone an ideal SCP candidate?
Your experience can range from three years to 30+ years. Here is the deal; we gravitate towards the rarer candidates who are genuinely passionate about being the best EA/PA/COS (or career trajectory support) in supporting the Global leaders and Executive level ninjas at the highest echelons. We always curate to identify the candidate who TRULY enjoys being the person behind the person, who enjoys being the leverage to their boss; the person who doesn’t succumb to becoming a diva even while supporting a CEO/MP/President/Entrepreneur/Rockstar/Diplomat/Celebrity etc. We seek the detail person; the caring and thoughtful person; the person who works well with others; the gatekeeper who is assertive without being aggressive. That said, here is an off-piste but worthwhile thought for you. Ready?
Many, many people have lost their jobs or had hours scaled back these last few months. Today, still living in a pandemic simultaneously laden with financial anxiety and job/career planning needs, we find that the majority of people are scared. Most don't have a clear idea of what the future brings as far as personal safety, physical ability to return to work, kids who may or may not attend school this fall, etc. Perhaps a silver lining of this absolute chaos is an opportunity to re-style your life and design your future. Take the time to examine what you liked and didn’t like about your pre-Covid life and career.
You don’t have to simply follow the path you were on. You certainly can, but perhaps there is a way to improve on a few elements that could provide more of what you now know is essential to your overall well-being. You now may *possibly* have a choice to reroute/recalibrate — and this is a unique time to explore!
Let’s connect!
With love and silver shamrocks, the SilverChair Partners family

Taking Care of Yourself, Your Friends and Your Family During a Stressful Time
The outbreak of COVID-19 has been stressful, overwhelming, and anxiety provoking for many. Knowing how to cope with the stress and how to take a care of yourself and your loved ones can strengthen the community around you. Here are some things you can do:
1. The constant barrage of information can be upsetting, so take breaks from the news, including social media.
2. Take care of your body! Eat well-balanced meals, stretch, meditate, take a bath, get plenty of sleep, do a fun face mask, and, most importantly, take deep breaths. 3. Make time to unwind. Find some activities you enjoy and use them as a way to decompress. 4. Connect. Talk to people you trust about your feelings and concerns to help manage stress and anxiety. If you are discussing COVID-19 with a child: 1. Before sharing any information about the virus, find out first what they already know. Take their lead--some children may want to spend a lot of time talking about it. But if they don't seem interested, that's ok too. 2. Be honest with them. Telling them the truth will help them feel safe. If you don't know the answer to something, it is ok to say so. 3. Help them feel in control. Show them that social distancing, eating well, getting good rest, and thoroughly washing your hands can help them stay strong and healthy. As we navigate through this difficult situation, make sure to share facts and not fear. And remember--you are not alone!

10 Interview Points That Leave Them Wanting More
You want to leave a lasting impression at your next interview? Here are ten helpful  tips to impress the interviewees and land that great job:
1. Be yourself! People hire individuals they like. You might be the most qualified, but if you’re not likable that job is going to go to someone else.
2. Don’t try so hard. Similar to #1, don’t try to be what you think they want—just be yourself.
3. Make sure the job is a good fit for YOU. A good match comes from finding a good fit on both ends. Don’t change yourself to make the fit happen—that will only hurt you in the long run.
4. Understand company challenges and offer solutions.  Do research before going into your interview and offer some ideas of how you could help with key problems the company is facing. This shows the interviewees directly the value of hiring you.
5. Show that you can apply your research! Many will have done research on the company, but what will set you apart is how you apply that research. Show how you can make a difference in their world.
6. Talk about what’s in your CV and cover letter. Let’s face it—you’re not the only one interviewing for this role. Remind them about the most important points in your CV and cover letter to make you more memorable.
7. Specificity is key! Be detailed about how you have handled challenges and achieved success. This direct story lends itself to you specific talent and expertise.
8. Stay positive. Whatever you do, don’t get negative. Don’t trash talk your current role. Focus on why this new role would be a good fit for you, why you’re the right hire for the job.
9. Say thank you...more than once. Of course you should thank your interviewees at the end of your in-person interview. But don’t forget a follow-up thank you (some suggest snail mail, some suggest email) to reiterate your interest in the role.
10. Give yourself plenty of time. Give yourself time on the front and back end of your interview. This gives you an opportunity to clear your head, not having to stress about rushing to and fro. You never know how long an interview will last, but you want to set yourself up for success as best you can.
The moral of the story? Do that research, be yourself, and show them why you are the best choice for the role. Happy hunting!

5 THINGS YOU CAN DO DURING AN EMPLOYMENT GAP
An employment gap comes with a huge wave of emotions and differs for every person. But one of the most common things people experience during an employment gap: free time. Whether free time is something you are used to or something brand new, here are some tips to help you during your transition.
1. Update your resume. While this might be the last thing you want to do, it is definitely the most important. Already have a new job lined up? Add that new role to your resume. Searching for a new job? Make sure your resume is clean, error-free, and focused.
2. Learn something new/learn about something more. Having relevant certification and specialized training can make a difference when applying for jobs. And internal training is equally as important to note. Look for opportunities that could further expand your skillset and benefit your career. These details can make all the difference.
3. Reach out to your contacts. If you want to get your resume into the right hands, using those industry connections is key. Let them know you’re transitioning and looking for new opportunities—you can’t get help if they don’t know you’re interested and open.
4. Focus on quality, not quantity. Instead of applying to as many roles as possible, focus on submitting really strong applications. The last thing you want to do is use the “spray and pray” tactic—applying to tons of positions, hoping that someone will bite. Your focus must be on quality, because your resume has to be outstanding to stand out from the bunch.
5. Remember that it takes time! At the end of the day, finding a good fit takes time. There are many factors that are part of finding a new role, and it’s hard for everyone! While having extra free time can be anxiety provoking, remember to use that time wisely. As long as you’re doing everything you can to find the right job, there isn’t much more you can do. Enjoy the free time you have while you have it—it will be gone before you know it!
