are you supposed to tone before or after using Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum? I'm not sure if its an actual serum (tone before using it) or a chemical exfoliator (tone after using it)... plzzz help!!!! :)
It’s a serum, so I would tone first then apply the DE. :^)

Hey guys! 👋
This is everything I’ve bought over the past few days from the Sephora VIB sale for Rouges. Let me put in the sale details here:
For Rouges: APRIL 26TH - MAY 6TH 20% OFF For VIBs: MAY 2ND - MAY 6TH 15% OFF  For Beauty Insiders: MAY 2ND - MAY 6TH 10% OFF
The sale does have some limitations. In regards to skin care, The Ordinary doesn’t qualify for the sale (or else you would see some of their products in my orders!). Also, you can purchase up to 3 Drunk Elephant & 3 Tatcha products. What’s not limited is the number of times you can use the code. I’ve made multiple purchases with the HEYROUGE code and got the discount on all of them.
So far, as not everything has arrived yet, the first impressions I can give are the following:
Commodity Mimosa Travel Spray- I grabbed up something by Commodity as soon as I could when I noticed their entire line was in the sale section; never a good sign! 😰I think I was too frantic and got Mimosa instead of Nectar, which I think I would have liked more. I don’t love it and I think I will be returning it.
Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream- The hype is real. It’s an excellently formulated cream on its own, but THE SMELL. It’s just so delicious; tropical with rich caramel. Well worth it.
Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Sol Oil SPF 30- I tried this out in store and instantly fell in love. It has the same mouthwatering scent of the Bum Bum cream, but add SPF! The texture is a medium-weight oil which sinks into the skin pretty quickly. Perfect for the upcoming warm weather.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb- My sister already loves Fenty Glow, so I wanted to pick up the newest shade Fu$$y for her and the OG Fenty Glow for myself. I love it! I already have full lips, but it does give a fuller appearance along with a MLBB color.
Supergoop! Shimmershade Illuminating Cream Eyeshadow SPF 30 in Golden Hour- There was huge hype surrounding the release of this product, but I’m not overly impressed. The concept of an SPF eyeshadow is great and the color is pretty, and I will continue to use it simply for sun protection, but the execution is a bit off. It’s mildly chalky, doesn’t blend the best, and I noticed some pilling. I think you would need an eyeshadow primer to see this product at its best, but aint nobody got time for dat. 🤷
Verb Hydrating Mask- An old favorite in my family; just a restock. Works well to hydrate any hair type.
Happy shopping! 💖

What website is it that you use to check ingredients in products to see if they’re good or not
Both cosdna and skincarisma are good, but you need to take into account that they use EWG standards to rate ingredients. The EWG often labels harmless ingredients as harmful, so you need to have some skepticism when using those sites. I think skincarisma is much easier for your typical person to understand.

Skin Care:
Sioris Time Is Running Out Mist
Doesn’t the name of this face mist just stress you out a bit? It’s so ominous. However, rest assured, the mist itself is amazing. Definitely a #gothamistamademedoit, but I have no regrets. The mister deposits a fine spray, so no large water droplets smacking your face. The mist has a generous oil content, which leaves your skin moisturized. It also smells wonderful- like fresh sweet citrus. Perfect for maintaining hydration between skin care steps, setting makeup, or refreshing during the day.
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner
This time of year is all about the hydration and you know I love a good hydrating toner. This one by Isntree is just what I look for in a toner, too. Fragrance-free, soothing ingredients list, and adds serious water to the skin. Inexpensive, good for all skin types.
Body:
Glossier Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream
Why has it taken me so long to try this?! 😩Body Hero lives up to every expectation that I had for it. It’s moisturizing (though could be more in my dry-skinned opinion), delicious neroli scent, and gives the skin a subtle glow. Makes me want to try the Oil Wash!

Etude House Melting Chocolat Lip Sleeping Mask
A lip mask is always in my beauty rotation. I have lips prone to dryness and my work place is very dry too. It’s necessary for me to nourish my lips overnight and to have long lasting moisture that doesn’t require touch ups while working. This Etude House product fits the bill perfectly. Moisturizing with cocoa & shea butters and smells like chocolate. On the thinner side for a lip mask, so if you dislike the thickness of similar products, this would be a good choice for you.
Hair:
Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo & Briogeo Stimulating Therapy Massager
I’ve struggled with a dry, flaky scalp my whole life. These Briogeo products have helped me to finally deal with this! It’s one of those situations where you’re like, “Wait, I was so bothered by this thing and it was this easy to fix it all along? lol” The shampoo is subtly exfoliating and leaves a refreshing tingle on the scalp. The Massager is a revelation for me. My hair is so thick when wet that it’s difficult to get down to my scalp in the shower. The Massager lets me work the shampoo more effectively onto my scalp. The result is a dramatic reduction in flaking! Love this hair combo.
Slip Silk Scrunchies
Hair elastics made from silk; one of my more bougie purchases. 😂They’re amazing though! They look beautiful and hold your hair without causing damage or any creasing. Not for those who lose their hair elastics easily! 😆

What self tanner do you use for your face? I’ve looking at one from Clinique (self sun face tinted lotion). But I would love to hear what you recommend first! Ty xx
Tan Luxe THE FACE Illuminating Self-Tan Drops are what I personally use and I love them! For a sunscreen that provides color, I love the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte. I’ve also heard great things about Isle of Paradise.

what are your thoughts on the banila co clean it zero cleansing balm? Ussually my skin is uncontrollably oily but I starting double cleansing in the spring and it made my summer skin perfect! but now that it's winter the air is super dry and my skin is getting really flakey and actually peeling on my forehead and cheeks. I thought of maybe switching to a cleansing balm or something with similar moisture in the wash phase would help. Thoughts?
Yeah, I think oil cleansing is great for all skin types. However, you may also want to look into a hydrating serum & a more nourishing moisturizer given the fact that your skin is flaking. I would need to know your whole routine to give you a more informed answer.

Hi queen! What do you think about the new lush naked skincare? They don’t look great to me but I wanted your thoughts!
Meh 🤷If you’re into the packaging-free thing and are not acne-prone, I think the line is decent. It doesn’t strike me as the most hygienic. The oil cleansing balms don’t contain emulsifiers either, which I don’t recommend for oil cleansing (can be ok for those that are not acne-prone). The only thing I would personally consider using are the facial oils, but again, not hygienic enough for me.

Hi! How long would you say is enough to start seeing improvement in PIE if I'm using vitamin C? Ive been using TO's MAP for a little 2 weeks now, and I haven't seen a difference yet. Should i try a stronger one?
It can take months to years to clear up PIE. Be patient!

Skin Care:
Physicians Formula Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir
If you’re looking for a gorgeous, budget-friendly oil blend, then this is it. It’s primarily camellia seed oil (an antioxidant-rich, non-comedogenic oil), but also includes goodies like argan oil and rhodiola extract. This does contain essential oils, but I’ve experienced no irritation. This is really a steal at the size and quality of product you get for $15. This was gifted to me by @a-floral-ghost and I’m grateful- I’m really enjoying it!
Shara Shara Berry Bomb All in One Ampoule
This is a great hydrating product for the winter. This ampoule is packed with skin nourishing ingredients like niacinamide, cholesterol, and ceramides, so it’s more heavy-duty than your typical hyaluronic acid serum. It’s on the thicker side, but I think it would be well suited to all skin types. This has been my one step for hydration between cleanser and moisturizer, and my skin’s been loving it!
A’Pieu Nonco Mastic Calming Cream
The texture of this cream is just 😍 It’s like whipped cream! It doesn’t feel too heavy, but you can feel it on your skin when you wash your face in the morning, which is a thing I love to see in a moisturizer. I don’t necessarily think this cream is suited to the most sensitive of skins (it contains a number of essential oils), but it’s non-irritating for me and the scent is inoffensive. Great for winter.
Makeup:
Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows
If you know me at this point, you know that makeup has to be stupid easy for me to use it. These Stila liquid eye shadows fit the bill perfectly! Takes 2 seconds to put on, but looks like you put in so much more effort. I love the glitter! Cloud is probably my favorite shade; an icy purple. Also layers well over a powder eyeshadow if you want a more complex look.
Glossier Lash Slick Mascara
This is a mascara I think everyone can love. It gives serious leeeength & separation. With enough layers you can get volume, but this is not the mascara for you if you like THICC lashes. Stays well and washes off easy. If you’re a fan of the Glossier aesthetic, you can’t go wrong with this mascara.

Hair:
Ouai Hair Oil
2019 is the year of hair care for me. If I’m so discerning about what I put on my skin, then I can stand to put some thought into my hair and scalp. This Ouai Hair Oil meets that level of luxury I was looking for. The scent is gorgeous (violets and gardenias)! It’s lightweight, so I don’t worry about using too much in my hair. This is great for smoothing out the hair, which I need on my crown and ends. If anything, I would like to try their Rose Hair Oil next, because that’s targeted towards thicker hair like mine.

I need a sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 70 for the face that doesn’t feel completely terrible (I have systematic lupus that causes me to basically be allergic to the sun. If I’m exposed for too long I break into hives) I see a dermatologist but their not exactly up to date on my cosmetic side of skincare.
My question to you would be “Why SPF 70?”. The protection you get above SPF 50 is so minimal that there’s really no difference in protection. And then you would be able to have a more comfortable sunscreen.

hey!! i was put on accutane and i was wondering what products i should use? i use first aid beauty’s ultra repair cream but it stings at first when i apply it. thank you!!
That initial sting means that your skin is damaged. You routine should be nourishing and non-irritating. Try brands like CeraVe, Cosrx, Pyunkang Yul, and La Roche-Posay for fragrance-free, gentle products. Cut out any exfoliants you may be using. Wear sunscreen.

Thoughts on the new pixi vitamin c stuff?
Ehhhh, not the best. The products appear to contain some irritating ingredients (citrus essential oils & peppermint, for example). It’s like... just because it’s a vitamin C product doesn’t mean it needs every citrus peel oil under the sun lol. The Vitamin C Serum is water based, so I have concerns about the stability of the product. Also, the lotion and caviar balm don’t even include a vitamin C derivative, so I wouldn’t expect much brightening from them.

when u tan easily and DONT want to lighten ur face compared to your body, tans are cool but healthy skin is cooler. any body products to recommend to keep skin healthy and prevent anti-aging there? im kind of LOST there asajsdbw
Ah yes, the age old struggle of the skin care obsessed. You know, I’ve personally stopped trying to lighten my body and instead just bought fake tan for my face LOL. I’ve been religious with sunscreen use on my body in the past, and I’ve never been able to reach a similar tone to my face. I figure it has more to do with the amount of cleansing, exfoliating, and brightening products I use on my face vs. my body. I’m guilty of not showing my body enough love, but I’m never gonna start bathing 2x a day and using vitamin C serums all over my body. 🤷
If you want to try lightening your body, there’s plenty of good body sunscreens out there. You can’t go wrong with a drugstore product like Banana Boat Dry Balance, Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch, or Sun Bum Moisturizing Sunscreen. You can also go more high end with choices like Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 or EltaMD UV Lotion Broad-Spectrum SPF 30 Plus, which are going to feel nicer on the skin and not have such a strong scent. Then you have Asian Beauty sunscreens, which combine the best of price and quality (ex. Nivea Sun Protect Super Water Gel & Missha All Around Safe Block Total Moisture Sun Gel SPF 50). My point is you have a lot of sunscreens to choose from!
Also, if you aren’t lazy with your body care like I am, there are exfoliating and brightening products you can use. An in-shower body scrub and/or exfoliating body lotion (ex. Amlactin Lotion, Paula’s Choice RESIST Retinol Skin-Smoothing Body Treatment, Ren AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum) can help. Just think about what you would do for your face and do it on your body too.
Good luck!
