I was doing a group fight picture with Sakura, Naruto and Sasuke and got bored half-way through, so y'all only get a half finished Sakura. Again. I googled a lot of MMA fighting poses for this.
But hey seriously, looking up the official Boruto designs made me think Kishimoto might have gotten bored of his new work way earlier than half-way through.

Kakashi : Maa~ (⌒_⌒ ; ) Sakura : Come on~ I wanna know, tell us everything ! Now ! ʘ‿ʘ Iruka : Yeah~ Kakashi, give us some flavour, tell us ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° ) Naruto : Hell yeah, I knew was right, pay up ! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Sasuke : You're gonna fall of the tree, idiot (〃ー〃)
So fanart is the way to get out of an art block, but then again, there's the high risk of getting stuck in the fast lane for me, so more Naruto fanart it is till I manage to swerve out of the line (and get stuck in the Zelda or Lord of the Rings lane I guess).
To be honest, I haven't read Boruto, mainly because I hated the designs I'd seen for the adult Naruto characters, which I still find so damn boring. Anyway, have some intermediary aged Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi and Iruka; I'm guessing the first three are in their thirties or something.
I actually started this picture because I wanted to rework my Sakura design, and in the end she's the one you can see the least of, lol.
Who has an idea what they're talking about?
Thank the heavens for leaf brushes.
Poses are a mix of two pictures (groupe casual and casual friends ) by @adorkastock again, because her gallery is a gold mine.

The idea of english as a mother tongue is so strange to me, in my head english is how ppl communicate when there’s no way in common to communicate, so english as a mother tongue sounds a bit like idk email as a mother tongue ykwim? Like english to me feels like the stuff that’s used to fill the empty spaces between languages

On instinct, he put his head on Gimli’s shoulder, and felt him drop off almost immediately. (...) Before he did fall into Elvish sleep, he heard Gandalf say, very quietly (but not quietly enough for his sharp ears to miss it), to Aragorn: “How long?” “Since Lothlórien,” Aragorn said, equally quiet. “Not long, then,” said Gandalf. “Long enough,” said Aragorn. He sounded weary; this made sense, as nothing else in their conversation did. He had been riding long and was tired.
So last year I binge-read @windandwater Lord of the Rings fanfiction “Where you go, I will go” several times and reaaaaally enjoyed it! I got trapped by the great storytelling, Gimli/Legolas, and the found family trope (my biggest weakness!), and if that’s your jam I recommend you go have a look at it, it’s awesome.
I was very much influenced by a picture called “Couch cuddle” from @adorkastock ( Adorkastock ) I stumbled over once and haven't been able to get out of my head since.
I'd been thinking of doing an entirely separate post for the colored version of the lineart for a while, and seeing a bunch of people in my notes recently remotivated me, so here it is (but still with the lineart, because I like it). Cheers everyone, may spring be gentle.

“[… M]any of us have never had a good role model on how to have civil and productive disagreements. I took a great class that helped me a lot when it comes to having difficult conversations. 1. focus on the behavior, not the person, not their motives. 2. don’t assume you know why somebody is doing something. (I.e they are coming in late because they are lazy). Because then you get stuck in a moral judgment scenario, not a problem solving scenario. Ask questions and remain curious before you decide you “know” something. 3. You don’t have to get to mutual agreement that behavior X is a problem/wrong/shouldn’t happen, etc . Then you are stuck in the problem. What you have to get to is an agreement about a mutual solution. 4. It is possible to have a solution to a problem without either party having to admit they are wrong. They just have to agree that they will do X instead of Y. 5. It is even possible to resolve an issue and still think the other person was being ridiculous/overreacting, whatever. As long as you have a solution that both parties agree to, you can feel however you want to about it, as long as you honor the agreement. 6. And remember that somewhere there is somebody who is having a problem with you. Yes, you. How do you want them to approach you about it? Try that.”

So @justsomeoneunordinary , what happens when you leave me with this kind of tags is that (first I twirl imaginary hair around my fingers for a minute and then) I go back into my file, realize I apparently flattened all my layers, and finally decide to try and roughly sketch out what the general idea was from memory. With colours so you can differentiate the elements better. You can see that I mostly focused on the top part (since I knew the rest would be mostly hidden), and I wanted to keep it in a loose "black ink brush painting" style, the idea being that things would blend together here and there (petals turning to flamme, etc). I'll probably rework it and have this tattoo come back on future pictures, I really want Sakura's elements to better blend with Naruto and Sasuke's, and I've been trying to add Kakashi in there too somehow.

"Aren't you glad there's a frontline medic around ?
I spent the last five hours on colouring this lineart I did yesterday, and it was fun! I had forgotten how much fun I got out of drawing before... Fanart ireally is the best way to get out of art blocks.
Becoming an adult is when you stop hating Sakura, realize she's been done dirty by canon all along, and just decide to stick to whatever you think the best fanon adaptation is. Mine is slightly unhinged and uses senbon. I feel like I used to be more original in the clothing departement, but I guess for now I'll have to go with a slightly modified version of a mixture of her uniforms. Don't think too hard on how the fabric of her dress works, I have no idea myself. I spent way to much time on her tattoo, haha.
Pose was very very much inspired by an Adorkastock low angle pose which I felt really strongly about.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

ok so i've been following your art for a bit now (which, by the way, it is amazing, i especially love your pen/pencil and ink) and i've noticed you always post who/what you used for a drawing reference with it and i'm wondering . . . do you have/could you post a list of places to go for good art references? maybe i'm looking in the wrong places but they are hard to find.
heyo!! sorry for taking so long to get to this ask, it's midterm season </3 here's a list (in no particular order) of my favorite drawing reference creators:
live people models:
@adorkastock
@jookpubstock
@null-entity
@nyxnaiastock
@blumineck (I Eagerly Await the drop of his archery reference packs)
drawn or 3D models:
@kingcholerarefs
@grey-fuckers-unlimited
@posemuse
all these creators are present on tumblr (duh lmao bc I linked to their blogs), but they also have links to their own deviantart accs / patreon pages / ko-fi pages / indie sites / etc. on their accs, and I would definitely recommend checking those out as well!!

Gimli Son of Gloin, if every character in Lord of the Rings was a person of color instead of the Peter Jackson version. Don't get me wrong, I love those movies, but some of the design choices stump me. A few years back I used to fall asleep to the DVD bonus commented extended cuts & at one point I could probably have recited the different versions in their entirety. My favorite was the one commented by the ETA Workshop team, the miniature people and costume department were amazing.
Anyway. Not really sure what I'm going with with that expression here. I think it was supposed to be a bit more fierce in the beginning? The original idea was to place the scene somewhere along the time they meet the Rohirim for the first time, but he got a bit softer since then.
Okay, I'm letting this sketch go now, I was clearly getting fed up and lazy with the beard, my hand was starting to cramp and I don't think I knew where I was going, haha. This Gimli has so much hair! There's no way any of those braids could be so thick while being so close together, but I'm going to say it's a classic dwarven constitution thing ; they're short, thick and have a truly massive amount of hair/beard.
Still getting the hang of Clip Studio Paint, but it's getting easier.

At this point I'm hunting down every single drop of motivation like a blood hound and trying to pick back up the many unfinished sketches I have lying around in my folders. That one is from my last Lord of the Rings period, and very much in the "what if every single character in LotR was a person of color" area of it. I have entire folders of hair style references on that file, so at least even if my style has changed since then, I can pick it up again.
Here's the finished lineart (?)
