Thoughts on RvB Restoration Finale

not really that long just my 2 cents

I wanna say I liked the movie because I did enjoy myself watching it, but honestly I'm very much gonna stick to the RvB17 open ended finale

Overall the movie was... ok? It wasn't unwatchably bad the way RvB Zero was but it also just made a lot of choices that I disagree with fundamentally both with the writing and the core themes of the series as a whole. I've had this take ever since RvB14 on the fanbase and the writers but this movie flat out says it:

The writers are fucking unable to let go of PFL and Chorus in a meaningful way.

For a series thats core message is about saying goodbye, they literally dont let that part of the show die. They are functionally unable to let go of the past peaks of the franchise and write something new. And I get it: RvB fundamentally cycles with its storytelling, but what was so refreshing to me about RvB14-17 was that it actually progressed itself Past those peaks of RvB10 and 11-13 (and honestly people REALLY dont appreciate the good in those later seasons). It felt like a natural (if wacky) progression, and it definitely wasnt perfect but it gave the extended cast more opportunities to shine in ways we didnt appreciate before

This movie just doesnt do that? Honestly the fact that they KILLED Sarge and Doc was so... disrespectful to me? Like not in the sense that it was as bad as how RvB Zero (fake) killed Tucker, but more like it felt like the writers killed them off because they were following a book titled "How To Write Story" and saw 'killing off characters is good writing'. Sarge got a dramatic send off that also didnt feel that impactful? And I did see it coming from the start but having Doc be Washs' guilt haunting him just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Its a really self contained story, a whole bunch of characters outside the main 3 reds and Caboose felt ooc, a good chunk of characters dont even show up (dude where was DONUT??? youre telling me he only has 5 seconds in Simmons' mind in a cheerleading costume?), it was composed of like 3-4 sets total, Carolina, Tex and 479er all just kind of Show Up to be badasses in the way The New Person would show up in an MCU movie...

Honestly watching this movie I kind of felt like it would have a twist ending. Like the credits would play and then itd zoom out to show the Reds and Blues post S17 in a movie theater watching this dramatic finale, because thats honestly what it felt like: The whole movie was a cheap facsimile of RvB as a whole. The fact that Trocadero wasn't allowed/signed on to make the music for this finale really does influence this movie, since they used a whole bunch of songs and osts that felt out of place (though I will admit Vale Deah softly playing as Grimmons said goodbye to each other did make me choke up a little)

Despite my negative review, I do still recommend watching it, since there was stuff I did like: Simmons in a leader role, Tex and the fun reveal during her fight with Tucker-Meta, Grif FINALLY getting to retire, Caboose as a whole was really well written, there IS good in this movie! And again it's not unwatchable bad, it just... kind of leaves a somber, sour taste in my mouth. This movie threw a whole bunch of stuff to the wall not to see what would stick but to break it all and leave for the insurance money. Just a "hey since we're sinking might as well make all these callbacks and break a bunch of stuff along the way."

Welp. Goodbye, RvB. At least this way I know that RT dies without riding your coattails any longer. And hey given that RvB technically has 3 endings (RvB17, Zero and RvB19) you can just take your pick on what you like best anyways. Quick edit no jutsu I forgor to mention there is the sequence at the beginning of the movie where it is implied RvB19 COULD also be one of the simulations in and of itself so. yeah you can in fact just take it as you will

it's a beautiful easter bank holiday in afon vale and whether you celebrate the season or not, most shops and businesses are closed to enjoy the occasion. in recognition of the good weather and festivities, the folks at bunker yard have swapped out the big screen for a dj booth and are throwing one hell of a party. everyone in afon vale is invited and admission is free, so why not head down to the old factory and enjoy yourself ??

bunker yard bank holiday bonanza

bunker yard - which is ordinarily a street food and drive thru cinema spot - has been temporarily converted into a food and music festival.

while the regular food trucks are there ( burger boys, slice of life, burreato, hot diggity dog, dirty bird fried chicken & naan of your business ) there will also be a stall selling hot cross buns and lamb cawl.

loco bar will be serving up drinks at a discount with frozen cocktails on 241 offer

for the kids ( and young at heart ) an easter egg hunt will run throughout the factory so get hunting for that chocolate !!

and once the day turns into night ( 10pm ), bunker yard turns adults only with a local dj taking over the decks to take the place into full party mode.

how does it work ??

the event will run in game from the 7th-10th of April ( the easter bank holiday weekend in the uk ). ooc, the event will run from monday 10th april at 10pm bst / 5pm est / 2pm pst to monday 17th april at 10pm bst / 5pm est / 2pm pst.

all event interactions will happen on the dash.

this event is not mandatory - your character may not be the type of person that would attend the bank holiday event so you are more than welcome to write threads outside of the event.

you are welcome to set your threads at any point in the event. they may be: attending during the day and taking part in the easter egg hunt if they have kids, joining the party in the evening, chowing down on some delicious street food, working the event if they work at bunker yard or they may be somewhere else entirely just talking about going !! it is totally up to you how you think your characters might, or might not, take part.

Dragonflight plans?

Oddly enough I was thinking about this last night as I was trying to fall asleep. Basically my main characters are going to follow the tragic-tory they started on years ago. Anyways here’s my scribbled notes for 5 years later.

Kirollis: He’s finally going to therapy. Holy shit it’s actually working. Why did he avoid this for so long? Was this the unhealthy coping they all meant? My boy finally getting the help he needs from someone other then a relative? Who knew all the healthy decisions played out off screen.

Now reinstated into the military he’s enjoying a pseudo retirement. He continues to train spies for the Thalassian government and still retains his active duty rank. Basically he’s in the mentor stage of his journey, he’s content to stop playing the hero and let the younger folks do it, his role is now just to crack jokes and give unsolicited advice. He may have also taken a shine to a protege that is surprisingly not his daughter.

The Alfred to Soriyas Batman, see more on that below.

Korrinth: She’s chilled out a ton, which was sort of happening already. I guess not having a purpose for like 7 years with no real direction just wallowing in self pity. Don’t get it twisted; the self pity is certainly still there, she’s just less vocal and less prickly about it. Also, don’t get that twisted, she will still bitch out people who get on her nerves. But all and all? Generally more stable and ready to find where she fits into a world with debatably less demonic activity.

Not to say she isn’t still slaying spoopy stuff, just you know, maybe doesn’t turn her nose up to jobs outside of that. Ready to embrace all the facets that make her wonderful self, not just the ones tied to tragedy.

To be fair to her she had been making plenty of progress on this front organically. 5 years is just going to speed things up.

Soriya: Maybe a vigilante I don’t know. Nobody knows.

Nah, but she’s more prepared to put herself in harms way for the good of… well you know greater good. She had a lot of time to reflect on what happened in the Vale a few years back and that’s only strengthened her resolve to follow her fathers footsteps a little more closely. Still the goofy surfer chick, but maybe there’s a bit of a budding hero in her.

After all she finally convinced Kirollis to give her some of that good ol’ Duskhaven training. It took a lot of convincing; to expand on the family dynamic Kirollis was content to let their line die out. Soriya pitched that now he’s the head of house, and she’s technically his successor, they could use that for something better then what it was intended for. He reluctantly agreed and here we are 5 years into that. Kunai anyone? (I really like the idea that they spent 5 years training and she just learned how to throw knives. That seems on brand).

Hello and welcome to Luke’s blog! This is an IC blog style RP blog.

Luke is a former World of Darkness: Werewolf the Apocalypse OC, then Welcome to Night Vale, now he’s in my own homebrew world as my own homebrew species, noknete. These are all part of his backstory and growth.

If you recognize him from a few years ago do know that he has been rebooted! Previous relationships and interactions have now never happened; he is no longer married with kids to Ben. Feel free to have a fresh start with him!

His world is still a wip tbh, but it’s a modern fantasy setting though with more focus on folklore and mythology rather than high fantasy. The supernatural and the gods are all real, but their presence on humankind is mixed in different regions. Luke is new to the world and has little exposure outside of his village and the nearby town or general knowledge about the greater world he now inhabits.

Call me Moss, I’m in my 30s. I am a queer trans man, he/his/him or they/them pronouns only.

I live in the US Central Standard Time, GMT -6. My current work schedule is 3-11:30pm and I can’t have my phone except for breaks at work.

For Willhelm, life always centered around his mother. To be fair, so did the lives of most of the Darien Vale, but Willhelm always held a special connection with her. She was his only family and one of his few companions outside the castle’s skeletons and crotchety butler. Neither were the best to have around as a child.

Willhelm’s origins are all smoke and mirrors. It is often brought up that he doesn’t look much like his mother (which he resents and disagrees with vehemently). However, people in the Darien Vale learned to keep their mouths shut in hopes of no one’s heads rolling.

It was during one of these particular incidents that Willhelm learned who it really was that had animated the skeletons in the castle. Like everyone else he had assumed it was some long passed necromancer. However, that wasn’t case. The powerful being that had reanimated so many skeletons was a baby Willhelm. Bored and lonely as a child, he had made companions for himself. Since then, he has let the rumors continue, instead focusing on using his shadow magic in public. After all, why give the enemy the upper hand?

do you still think there is any chance that the rest of season 6 could still be another au/ part of a spell cheryl cast and is out of character on purpose? I still cannot understand why everyone was acting ooc in the end of season 5 and the only explanation I think there could be is if it still wasn’t all as normal as it seems. I mean we are even getting Hal back so I guess it’s a possibility?

not sure if you mean in general or if you think i thought that specifically. i always thought the event was going to be an AU of some kind (if anyone watched the trailer for the event and saw narrator jughead and thought, "sounds legit, totally normal riverdale" they were being stubborn about having already decided what the event was about if you ask me) but the rest of s6? i'm open to suggestions.

it would make sense in a way to do it, they already wrote themselves in a corner with a few things ('vale related things being said to come into play in the 'dale), and it would be a good way to give themselves an out with the supernatural thing.

that didn't include any of the ships but as @thatiranianphantom said to me, it's a good way to have their cake and eat it too. knowing that hal is going to be back in some capacity and knowing there's a curse, the 'vale is coming through, and the "epic" battle is going to happen at some point, all signs point to something hinky going on past riverdale's usual hijinks. (eta: which is why i do think something else outside of the supernatural could be going on at this point with the info we have but who knows?)

i guess we'll see what happens by the end of the season. i don't expect a ton of stuff to happen upfront in these earlier episodes outside of exposition and maybe setting up some red herrings.

TASK 004: SECRET SANTA

Ho ho hooo! It’s that time of the year again, the holidays are fast approaching, homes in Port Vale have started to light up, the decorations are being undusted, and the locals start buzzing about a Port Vale tradition that’s been coming back year after year.

Victoria Wolfgang has posted the sign up sheet for the annual Secret Santa event outside of the town centre, and people line up for a chance to participate. It is always a fun, exciting event as the town gets embroiled in festive cheer. Some people keep it a secret, some reveal and ask for help to get the best gift they can think of for their assigned giftee, but no matter what approach they choose, it’s about giving some love and joy to the other person. This year, with so many merfolk in town, the Christmas haul is sure to be interesting.

This task will be a bit different than the previous ones. We are holding a Port Vale Secret Santa event through the holidays. You have two options:

The IC Secret Santa gift exchange (for the characters)

The OOC Secret Santa gift exchange (for the writers)

Choose to sign up for IC or OOC, or both! If you have multiple characters you choose who participates.

Sign ups: until December 6th Gift-delivery: until December 23rd

Please send an ask or submit to the Main on tumblr (do not use Discord or the IMs feature) with your sign-up in the following format. You can list OOC, IC, or both:

Vamos falar da saudade da SEU. O desenvolvimento e a imersão eram ótimos lá dentro, e quem fez parte da cmm sabe que isso é mérito dos players e de seus personagens, que postavam seus POVs sem ficar esperando ideias da moderação. Tudo ia bem, até que o comportamento da própria moderação começou a afetar vários desenvolvimentos e o clima dentro da cmm.

Pra quem não sabe, dentro da instituição haviam duas sociedades/gangues: a Ukio e a Gokudo. A Ukio era composta quase totalmente por players que não tinham contato com mod. Já a Gokudo era quase que totalmente (senão totalmente) composta por membros da moderação. E o que isso tem de ruim? O problema é que nas descrições dos plots de cada sociedade, nunca houve menção sobre a superioridade de uma ou de outra. Só o que era dito era que as brigas eram pesadas, que havia muita rivalidade etc. Contudo, a Ukio nunca tinha seu momento de vantagem nos plots de conflito, ao contrário da Gokudo. A própria moderação os comparou com a Yakuza e disse ser IMPOSSÍVEL que a Ukio ficasse em vantagem, já que eles eram praticamente invencíveis. Os plots envolvendo apenas a Gokudo nunca eram previamente mencionados pros membros da Ukio, nem mesmo ooc... Mas os plots da Ukio TINHAM que terminar com alguém da Gokudo pegando um deles ou resolvendo tudo. Oi? Sério? Também tem o famoso caso de uma player pediu plot com a Gokudo, onde a personagem seria pega por eles e eles dariam um susto na garota, mas os membros decidiram sozinhos que o plot seria de tortura física e psicológica, e a ooc da garota em questão só soube quando os selfparas foram postados na tl.

Os xingamentos para com a moderação não foram inteiramente gratuitos, tinha muita gente cansada do metagaming e godmodding e usou aquele momento pra botar isso pra fora. Sempre vejo gente defendendo esse pessoal, sem saber que eles falavam mal de players, manipulavam o plot pro próprio benefício e ainda eram grossos com gente da própria cmm. Teve gente que pesou a mão na discussão lá no encerramento? Óbvio que teve, não vou fingir que não. Mas, pelo amor de deus, parem de passar pano pra moderação como se eles fossem deuses injustiçados (rs), porque não são. Não acho que mereçam receber ataques até hoje por algo relacionado a rp, mas é bom pontuar todos os isss aqui, como uma pessoa que esteve na cmm, teve contato com membros da Ukio e soube de tudo em primeira mão. A cmm foi boa, mas teria sido melhor se o "poder" de moderar não tivesse subido a cabeça. :)

Oh... Well? Já fazia algum tempinho que não ouvia falar nessa comunidade. Pelo menos, um tempinho antes de chegarem a mandar ask dizendo que sentiam falta e tudo mais. Mas... Vamos lá, eu tenho minhas opiniões a respeito disso, coisas que posso ressaltar aqui porque fui jogadora da SEU.

A respeito das sociedades... Bem, não é mentira que de fato chegou a ocorrer desavenças OOC entre os grupos. Actually, vou ser sincera... Eu não costumo ficar o tempo inteiro em alerta com o que está acontecendo dentro de comunidades. Eu sou bastante avoada, pra dizer o mínimo. Eu cheguei a testemunhar uns confrontos aqui e ali, uma vez inclusive num plotdrop que envolvia uma feira de ciências (? nem lembro). Essa situação que chegou a citar a respeito do plot que não foi combinado... Olha, eu não cheguei a participar de quaisquer reuniões sobre isso, não posso confirmar muita coisa. Mas minha personagem era da Gokudo, e eu lembro que teve uma época em que eu não estava conseguindo participar do rp e nem marcar presença da minha personagem no grupo (tanto o grupo do chat quanto a própria sociedade dentro do rp mesmo, inclusive, eu apareci pouco por ali, eu tenho certo problema com grupos de chat, sendo IC ou OOC, eu me sinto sobrecarregada pela quantidade de gente que tem), e acabou que combinaram que era justo que ela fosse punida por não estar adicionando nada ali.

Sinceramente? Eu entendi que tava tudo bem e que era justo, ainda mais dando em conta o próprio plot do negócio. Inclusive, ninguém fez NADA com a minha personagem sem me consultar primeiro, inclusive pediram para que eu mesma decidisse o que poderia acontecer com ela. Acho que seria injusto da minha parte querer minha personagem intocável, já que eu não tinha sequer avisado o motivo do por que eu não estava participando dos plots em questão (no caso, estou dizendo isso por mim, não estou dizendo que todo mundo tem que pensar da mesma forma ou que esse é o definitivo e o certo). Eu pretendia sair do grupo e seguir com a minha personagem sem associações, justamente porque eu não tinha mais o que adicionar ali, e eu ia usar daquela situação para desenvolver a minha personagem.

O que eu tenho a impressão sobre a situação que citou foi que se tratou de um problema mal resolvido. Provavelmente falta de comunicação entre ambos os lados? Provavelmente isso, não tenho como saber, já que como eu disse, eu não verificava o grupo com frequência, e geralmente não entrava em grupos de combinação de plot com o outro lado porque eu não tinha ideia do que exatamente incluir ali, não sabia como inserir a minha char ali. Por isso eu realmente não posso dizer muito ou mesmo confirmar coisas que foram ditas ou desditas, até porque eu assisti a partir do ponto de vista de alguém que só viu o unfollow da pessoa em questão e uma fofoca aqui ou ali com as poucas pessoas com quem eu conversava em OOC ali dentro.

Quanto ao metagaming, bem, eu lembro de ter chegado a ver a central respondendo muitas asks que reclamavam a respeito disso, mas não sei detalhes. E o restante das coisas, não tenho como saber e nem como confirmar, porque não me envolvi com ninguém da moderação e nem com ninguém que tinha contato com esse lado, minha presença não era tão firme ali dentro. A SEU teve sim os seus problemas, isso é inquestionável... Agora... O que você disse sobre as pessoas terem pesado a mão, é verdade. E sobre não precisarem fazer isso por causa de um rp? Sim, é verdade. Eu vi gente pedindo pra pessoas da moderação morrerem por causa do encerramento da porra de um rpg. E sinceramente isso já diz muito sobre o caráter de uma pessoa.

Ao mesmo tempo, eu reconheço um detalhe que eu acho que outras pessoas também deveriam reconhecer: toda história tem mais de um lado. E provavelmente com a SEU não é diferente. A gente relata as coisas por experiência... Algo ruim obviamente vai ter um relato negativo a respeito. E ao mesmo tempo, também vão existir pessoas que tiveram experiências boas ali naquele mesmo espaço. Assim como existem pessoas que tem contato com um lado, outras que tem com o outro, e esses dois lados vão dizer coisas completamente diversas umas das outras. Eu sei que tem muita coisa distorcida no meio disso, mas como eu não posso comprovar nada e não posso bater o martelo, eu procuro não dizer nada que possa inclusive ferir alguém ou desconsiderar esse alguém. É isso, sabe.

Hades adiciona: Assim como a Artemis, eu também fiz parte da Gokudo mas, diferente dela, eu participei do tal evento de “tortura física e psicológica”. Nada foi feito sem consulta do outro jogador, bem como nenhum plot era executado sem ser devidamente combinado com o outro lado, fosse Ukio, fosse um char sem ligações com as sociedades. Me recordo bem de que a OOC da garota até comentou que podia dar um tapa ou dois, mas nada além disso, e assim foi feito.

Até onde eu sei, havia moderação também na Ukio, se não era metade/metade, a maior parte estava na Ukio.

Quanto ao resto, só posso concordar com a Artemis e reforçar sobre a reação totalmente desproporcional que os jogadores tiveram em relação ao fechamento. Era só um RPG, coisa na internet, e estavam desejando e ameaçando pessoas de morte. Tem noção? Isso é extremamente fodido e falo isso como alguém que sabe o quão fisicamente perigoso é um incentivo desses quando se está psicologicamente num lugar horrível.

Se tu acha que os jogadores de lá estavam certos em deixar tudo tomar a proporção que tomou, então pau no seu cu.

Zeus: Sendo um intruso e outsider nesse post, gostaria de adicionar algo. Summary: Beware, the town's mascot appears to have found a new peculiar feline! Does it come for war or peace? Does it come aware of its conditions? Does it come? Does it at all? How many cats is Night Vale going to be filled with? Follow the subsequently solved mysteries with our two favourite beings.

A/N: Did someone order Deceit being excited about cats? The Night Vale aura might be a bit more off than the last fic but e h I'm trying my best. As well as Deceit might seem a bit ooc too as apparently I thought all of his dialogues in Cecil's voice (did I almost write Cecil and Carlos instead of Deceit and Logan? yes). I swear I will actually bring you Logan too, just you wait for me to write the 100th episode. That being said hope you enjoy! (Not all the events are actually taken from wtnv)

« It was admirable how suddenly our favourite, and of course only, station cat was able to move from his spot. It did already happen once, back then when that ... devilish company unleashed an unharmful-looking beast that attacked him. » Deceit's voice lowered in a mix of repressed rage and regret.

Despite being in the past, memories would always come back to haunt you; sometimes they found you in a dark alleyway, sometimes they hovered over you when you pretended to sleep.

The black of the night seemed to be the most efficient medium to reminisce.

But other times all you needed was a detail, it would grasp your mind and never let go until you experienced second hand feelings from your past self. Everything at once in a matter of milliseconds.

When Deceit had seen Khoshekh's, or, rather, Virgil's cat body half bitten away by that horridly misleading creature, oh how deeply he had wished for his hands to be able to crush the toughest material.

The anger had soon left his skin and made way to concern and worry and that sense of impending doom impossible to ignore which set on the pit of his stomach.

It was one of the scariest days of his life, scarier than that one time he had almost died.

« And then he just … jumped out! I wasn't going to stop him, everybody knows cats can survive jumps from great heights. Like that one time Jasper, Derek's cat, had jumped from the tallest building of Night Vale and landed on his paws without a single scratch. That, of course, was thanks to the enormous wings attached to his body, which we learn that cats tend to grow around the age of five months old. Adorable! »

The fondness of Deceit towards said animals could be touched between the radio waves. He straightened his posture in his seat and leaned over his microphone.

« I simply looked out of the window, bending slightly towards the outside to witness what Khoshekh had in mind. And, listeners, you will never believe this. » Deceit smiled through the anticipation. « There was another cat right next to him! His fur was of a soft orange alternated with whiter stripes, but, sadly, I wasn't able to catch the eye colour. I couldn't believe myself when I saw them interact; Khoshekh made his first friend and we will celebrate this and welcome this new friend in our community with the warmest greetings we've gathered in our hearts. »

A shuffling of papers was heard while his tone shifted again. « More on the possible blossoming of a beautiful friendship as soon as we get more news on the matter. Let me take you to the weather. »

And the blasting of guitars started.

Deceit wasn't sure how long that weather was going to be: lately they had carried on for hours, almost forgetting about the passage of time which stretched and renewed with every instant, giving it no purposeful meaning.

This could only hold one significance: he was safe to visit Virgil once again, to check on him and see whether there were updates on the stranger cat or not.

It had been a long day.

Their search for a new intern hadn't yet been resolved; it's not like none desired to undertake the task, but they were literally still looking for their newest intern who had just applied.

It was a pretty young boy who had just moved to Night Vale for the sole purpose of working in the radio's internship so he could be more comfortable in the upcoming play he was going to star in. But, ever since he had applied, he had never been seen, nor he had ever shown up.

Deceit had been moving as if on autopilot, his body did the exact same trajectory for as long as he had wanted to check on Virgil.

He would make his way to the bathroom, wait for his friend to feel comfortable enough to appear in anthropomorphic form, talk to Virgil and then go back to make his last recording before finally going back home, unless the weather lasted for more than four minutes.

But this time he found himself out in the pavement next to the station's building, observing Virgil's moves.

The younger boy was in his cat form, staring directly at the corner of the station, as though he had been expecting something to happen for hours and hadn't yet gotten any sign.

« Waiting for someone? »

Virgil turned, his black fur like a speck of void sitting in the air. In a moment, a pale face was glancing back at Deceit, dark circles linked the white skin to the colourful tones of his left eye.

« There's something odd. » he mused with his arms crossed over his chest, the same spot he had gotten stitches on some weeks earlier. Deceit shook off the memory for the second time that day.

It was okay, nothing had happened.

« Isn't there always? What is odd, anyway? »

« I know, but- this is another kind of odd. »

Deceit let out an amused huff and walked closer. « You're starting to sound like Logan. »

Ever since the bio-machine attacked Virgil, he had stayed at Deceit and Logan's place to recover his broken bones and … trying to readjust to his previous life while dealing with all the injuries, the missing right eye he was now covering with his bangs …

And that was where he had started to pick up their habits, on a brighter note. They both found it delightfully precious.

« It feels different when he's around. »

« He? »

« The other cat. The orange one. » Virgil gestured to a spot, but Deceit saw nothing else other than a bench. « It's like he holds my own aura, he's more like me than he is like other cats. Not like Jasper, or Copernicus. »

« You think he can shape-shift like you? » Deceit tried to follow his connections.

« I'm not a shape-shifter. » Virgil had repeated for the millionth time, followed by a quick “Of course you aren't.” of his interlocutor. « I simply appear. » he added, scrunching his lips to the side afterwards, eyes narrow as he stared ahead of himself again.

He couldn't quite put his finger on that newcomer yet.

Now the newcomer was standing right in front of them, a few meters away, looking at- well, actually …

« Oh, those are some pretty red eyes! » Deceit approached, careful not to upset the feline, which at first backed away, but was far more comfortable when he sensed the soft and measured movements of the man.

He crouched down to him and looked at two little pinkish eye sockets. Deceit turned to Virgil.

« This poor creature doesn't have eyes? » he gazed back at the cat's face, which seemed to be able to capture where the man exactly was even with the lack of sight.

« Yeah, but that's not what's off about him. » the other clarified, while Deceit had already befriended the cat and had started petting its head, cooing at how cute he was.

The cat seemed to soften under his gloves' touch. « Oh, I think nothing is off about this gorgeous little buddy. » a wide ridiculous smile spread on his lips when he turned to Virgil. « Come here, he's very nice. »

Virgil rolled his eyes and complied, kneeling down next to them. He tentatively raised a hand and slowly caressed the back of the cat's body.

« We should name him. »

« Oh, please, you would end up with absurdities- What even is Khoshekh? »

« Excuse you? First of all, it's wonderful and second, you definitely love it- »

« I do not. »

« -You do. Now, who shall this new pal be? »

Virgil promptly picked the cat up without any other warning, surprisingly getting no other response from him other than a mute “Oh, alright, I'm being lifted off the ground I suppose. Neat.”

« I'm not going to stand here and watch you ruin his reputation for the rest of his days. » he started to back away, subtly amused.

« You're so dramatic. » Deceit snickered as Virgil clutched the animal to his chest.

« Thank you, I took that after you. »

« Come on, he can't just be “that orange cat”. »

« Why not? »

« He deserves a proper name. »

« You don't give proper names, Dec. »

« Then what would you think a proper name would be? »

The cat in Virgil's arms abruptly disappeared.

Instead, in them there was now a boy around his age, just a little taller than him, and just a little too close for Virgil's personal space.

« Uh … » he didn't move, not free from the other's arms yet. « How about “Roman”? »

Virgil blinked once, then twice and three times, disbelief still washed over him as he let go instantly after regaining his composure.

« You're … » just like him! « … the new intern? » Deceit questioned, remembering how familiar that name sounded. Pieces were all coming together: of course people couldn't find him, they hadn't been looking for the right creature.

« Oh! Yeah, that. I apologize, I might have missed the first few days but- » Roman cut off, looking down at his own body as if that would have explained his absence. « I got stuck. I had no idea I could do that. » despite his composed tone, confusion and mild agitation were still accompanying his face's features. A face with eyes, differently from his cat form.

« Oh well, there's always a first time as they say. Maybe Virgil could help you control that so you can still work for us? » Deceit regretted his own words the second he captured Virgil's death stare at the new citizen.

Trustworthiness of rare beings of your own kind coincidentally moving to your town wasn't going to be an easy effort. Especially when it came to him.

« Mh? » the new intern looked at the boy in question and put on the friendliest face he could muster. « Charmed to meet you, I'm Roman. » as he was extending his hand for Virgil to shake, the other began to walk back to the radio station's bathroom without a single word.

Words, in fact, were more Deceit's thing than his own.

« Aw, don't mind that. » he chirped, clasping his hands together. « Walking away from conversations is an open invitation to seek your interlocutor's company once again. I learnt that at the social interactions course in the community college. »

All he gained was a perplexed glance from Roman. « That's rather odd. »

Deceit tilted his head to the side, eyeing him cautiously. « Where … did you go to school again? »

« Uhm, New York City? »

New York City? he thought, that's not a real place.

Deceit brushed it off as Roman simply wanting to impress him. « Well then, new yorker, I guess, you might as well follow me inside; I'll show you around the place so we can get started. »

They stopped right before the entrance. « Ah, do not be bothered by station management, they will stare at you until their necks aren't able to turn anymore, which is normally around 437,27 degrees. » Deceit showed Roman one of his most encouraging smiles. « It's their way of greeting you, you'll get used to it. »

Roman blinked multiple times before he was able to process the information and follow Deceit inside.

« Listeners, I have such exciting news I can't wait to share! » the pitch of Deceit's voice increased slightly. « So, in the past few hours where the weather took place, I had the pleasure to meet our newest intern, who's taking the place of our latest, as the passage of roles requires. » he waved at his current colleague. « His name is Roman and he's from … a place. A place on the earth, smiling at the sky with the same intensity as our desert town is yelling at the moon. Sorry about that, moon. We're trying to be better. »

Deceit shifted in his seat. « As well as we're trying to look out for any comforting sign the stars, any soothing sound in the wind or any pacifying rumble in the ground. But the important thing is: you're here and you're trying. Whichever option flows your way, bound yourself to it and let it hypnotize you into the eternal slumber of vigorous impetuosity. »

He let his temple rest on his hand. « Stay tuned next for quiet yelling and boisterous nothingness. » a smile crept on his lips when he realized he was very close to returning home to his boyfriend. « And as always, goodnight, Night Vale. » the smile grew wider.

« Goodnight. »

ooc;; so I was watching a YouTube vid LINK n it was very similar to Night Vale’s stuff and it got me thinking of a weirdly cool idea of what if the only thing they had to listen to was the radio station Night Vale ( idk wht it’s actually called lol ) bc they don’t have a tv or anything besides a beat up radio tht seems to only get on channel. All the other stuff is simply static. And this would be little Debs only kinda link to the outside world which would high key effect her when she finally moves in w/ her grandparents ( and during her time in foster care. ) Plus, it would make since bc the show is already kinda supernatural / has magic, it’s not a far stretch. N since, at this moment, the only Night Vale rper I know of / follow is @pcrticlvcid I’d love to talk / maybe plot stuff bc it sounds hella fun n I don’t think we’ve actually rped before, which is super sad.

PLOT: ALL OOC

At 2 am alarms and sirens start going off all over camp. Red lights flash in the cabins but all other power seems to have been cut. I repeat, no power! As the students sleepily try to get out of their bedrooms they will discover that they cannot. The doors to the bedrooms are all locked. A riddle has been written in blood(?) on the door.

Each bedroom has a different riddle. Once the riddle has been solved the students will be able to find a key/code and open their bedroom door. -To solve the riddle, submit the answer to Mack of J ON DISCORD and we will tell you if you are correct or not-. Once a student is out of their bedroom, they can help other students in their cabin still stuck in their bedrooms by assisting with their riddles.

However, they will find that the front door to the cabin itself is also locked and another riddle is written there for the whole cabin to solve.

If they get too near a window they will see that in the center of camp a huge bond fire is blazing and cloaked figures are standing around it. Or they will be scared half to death by any kind of jump scare you’d like to imagine outside the window ie Hockey mask guy, creepy little girl, ghost etc. (Needless today, they cannot leave via the windows)\

If you’ve heard the riddles before, try to play along and don’t ruin the game. Please don’t share riddle answers with other writers, in discord, or character to character as it really just ruins the fun. If you’re stuck, try asking the other characters in your cabin via yelling out through the door to them. Please don’t just google answers. Again, to exit their bedroom, you must submit a correct answer to Mack or J via DISCORD. And to exit the cabin, you must do the same.

Some riddles may have you finding a key in a specific location in the room, others might have you key in a code on a keypad to unlock the door.

Remember, creepy ass shit is happening all around them. Lights are flashing, creepy stuff at the windows, weird noises, people yelling and banging on the walls etc.
