YOSUKE. YOU WERE THE ONE THAT CHANGED HIS MIND AND HELPED HIM AND MADE HIM BETTER AND I#YU DIDN'T KNOW WHAT LOYALTY AND DEEP MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS LOOKED LIKE EITHER UNTIL YOU AAAA WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THAT#srry idk why that was in all caps i got very passionate for a moment#anyway. them.#he's good with his queue

(GOD DAMN IT I WISH THERE WAS MORE YU X KANJI GIFS ON TUMBLR *CRIES*)
reader type: gender-neutral
reader specification(s): none
genre(s): lime, romance
trigger warning(s): slightly suggestive content
summary: on a hot summer day, while cleaning your living room, you decided to dance to one of your favorite songs-- and having sinful images of yu and kanji in your mind.
song(s) featured: “omg” by itano tomomi
audio link
lyrics (romaji & english translation)
lyrics (kanji & kana)
word count: 1.6k words
♡ ♡ ♡ (ꈍᴗꈍ)ε`*) ♡ ♡ ♡
key:
(e/c) = eye color (n/n) = nickname (y/n) = your name
♡ ♡ ♡ (ꈍᴗꈍ)ε`*) ♡ ♡ ♡
君もカレも魅力的、OMG!    誰か一人なんて 選べない    試してみる? tasty    急に奪って今すぐに kiss me
The song hadn’t gone into a minute, yet you could already feel your hips swaying to the beat. You weren’t even sure if you were cleaning your living room right now. It was more of you being distracted by the catchiness of the song and just wanting to dance. Every once in a while, you would lip-sync to the lyrics. Pretending you were performing it on stage.
But this was the type of song you would only perform for your boyfriends, Yu and Kanji. A private show, if you could put it that way.
ふと目が行く    その手つきにもう夢中    肩のラインも SO GOOD    頭の中は君と make love make love
Due to the summer heat coming from outside, you turned on a fan to cool down. You could feel the air flowing your body and brushing up against your clothes (you were wearing a light, oversized shirt and one of Yu’s boxers. What? They were comfy!). But despite that, you could still feel some sweat rolling down.
You weren’t so sure if you were hallucinating, but you swore you saw Yu and Kanji in the same room as you. Shirtless. It was almost as if they were there (or it might be just the heat).
With their backs towards you, you watched as they were also cleaning the living room and getting more work done than you were. They were also affected by the heat, as there was sweat dripping off of them. At one point, Yu sighed and ran one of his hands through his gray hair as if he was getting tired already. You couldn’t blame him.
You also couldn’t blame yourself for subconsciously licking your lips. You really couldn’t get enough of your boyfriends. But the fact you got two of them instead of just one? You almost wanted to consider yourself lucky to be with such amazing men.
   止まらない 想像が 伝わったら いいのに
Oh, yes. Your imagination has gone crazy over Yu and Kanji at random points.
This song spoke to you a lot!
こっちもそっちも捨てがたいの OMG!    早く早く私捕まえて    胸の内は nasty    シャイだから言えないの feel me
You didn’t find any point in continuing to clean the living room. There would always be another time for you to finish up. So instead, you let your body move to the beat of the song. You had memorized the choreography of the song out of pure boredom, and needless to say, it was your go-to dance. Especially when you couldn’t get Yu and Kanji out of your mind.
You almost didn’t want anyone to know about how nasty your mind was when it came to your boyfriends. Your imaginations belonged to them.
uh yea yea    ah uh yea yea    ah uh yea yea    ah... oh, OMG! ×2
You waited for the perfect moment for the beat drop.
   And then...
   OMG! ×2
   It came.
You loved this part of the song. You felt a sense of boldness flow through your body as you dropped to the floor and continued the dance. Your imagination must’ve gotten to you, but you were seeing steam emitting from the room.
And it just so happened that Yu and Kanji were sitting on the couch, watching you (They must’ve decided that cleaning would save for another day, as well). From a glance, you saw Yu smirking at you. Meanwhile, Kanji’s face was turning a light pink while he bit his bottom lip.
Feeling their eyes on you sent a tingling sensation in you. And it flew throughout your body when you laid on your back and lifted your legs in the air as you continued the dance (**).
At this moment, you felt free. So free. It almost felt like you were wearing nothing but your undergarments. The air conditioner was able to hit all the spots on your body, cooling you down. But still, it wasn’t enough to stop the heat that you were feeling. And it wasn’t because of the summer weather.
顔がタイプ uh uh    なんだか気も合う uh uh    知性的なのも    他の誰よりも like that, like that
Eventually, you got back up on your feet, but your body was still moving. All you could think about was how badly you wanted Yu and Kanji. Nothing else was your concern at this moment. You had no idea how long you could handle the wait for them, considering how they were still hanging out with Yosuke and Teddie.
   2人きりだと 時が速いの    秘密のお泊まりあるかも
And considering how it was still afternoon, you could have your boyfriends all to yourself for the next few hours. The excitement was getting to you--
“Well, well. What a nice surprise we came home to see. Right, Kanji?”
   ‘OH SHIT.’
You swore your head could’ve been snapped off your neck by how fast you whipped it. Turning your head around, you saw your boyfriends standing in front of you. Yu had an amused look on his face, and Kanji was flustered. Almost similar to how they looked when you imagined them watching you dance.
“U-Uh, yeah. I guess,” Kanji mumbled as he swallowed a lump in his throat. He was already feeling something in the down area of his body, and there was no way he could ever try to hide it. At least only you would be able to see it. And Yu, too. Thank the heavens that Yosuke and Teddie (or God forbid, the girls!) weren’t there to see it, though!
Meanwhile, you stood there in your spot, not moving a single inch of your body. You certainly weren’t expecting your boyfriends to be home that quick. Let alone catching you dancing to quite a spicy song. Were you embarrassed about it, though? No, it was mostly you being in shock.
And it wasn’t as if you wanted them to catch you.
Yu chuckled. “Those were some interesting moves you got there, (Y/N),” he said. You felt like your eyes were about to widen from how his voice sounded (there was some lust behind it). “Never knew you were quite a good dancer until just now. Another nice surprise to discover, too.”
“It’s nothing, really,” you smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of your neck. “I just got obsessed with this song and wanted to learn the dance.”
“We’re still not gonna deny that you’re good at it, though,” Kanji pointed out. At this point, he was surprised he didn’t get a nosebleed after watching all of that. His eyes were practically glued onto you as he watched your body move to every beat of the song.
How you didn’t notice him and Yu walking into the house in the middle of your dancing session, Kanji didn’t know. Either way, he couldn’t let out the noise when he watched you get on the floor.
Unbeknownst to you, Kanji’s imagination also went crazy.
“Aww, thanks!” you smiled, then bit the inside of your cheek. A habit you did whenever you felt flustered.
“But don’t you think you’d be good at dancing upstairs in our bed?” Yu’s voice suddenly deepened. It almost sounded like he growled.
   ‘Wait, what--’
   “E-Eh?” you tilted your head.
“Because I certainly think so,” the gray-haired male said before he slowly walked up to you and grabbed you by the waist, pulling you close. When you looked at him, he had a sensual look on his face. A look that always sends butterflies in your stomach.
You almost didn’t have the time to make a noise of surprise when Yu suddenly locked his lips onto yours. Your (E/C) eyes widened. But it wasn’t long before you gave back into the kiss. No matter how many times you’ve done this, you could never get enough of how Yu was a great kisser. It always had you melting.
In just a matter of seconds, Kanji walked up behind you and began to place kisses on the back of your neck. At the sudden touch, you let out another small gasp. Yu found the opportunity to slip his tongue in your mouth. He also slipped one of his hands under your shirt and caressed it using his thumb. You let out a small moan at his touch, and Yu smirked into the kiss.
But it certainly didn’t help (or you know what? Maybe it did!) when Kanji subtly sneaked his hand under your boxers and began to play with the hem of your underwear.
Oh God, you felt like the steam was starting to come back inside the room. For all you knew, you were probably in heaven. But this was sinful.
Yu eventually pulled away, and a string of saliva followed. With the smirk still plastered on his lips, he whispered, “I think it’s time we take (Y/N) upstairs to our bedroom and have them perform just for us. Isn’t that right, Kanji?”
Said boy looked at Yu and had the same smirk. “Hell yeah.”
And before you could say anything, Kanji lifted you into his arms and carried you bridal-style. It prompted you to let out a squeal.
Yu chuckled. “That’s a cute noise you made there, (N/N). Although, you’re cute all the time. And don’t go denying it.”
   ‘Oh, God damn it!’
“Damn right, they’re always cute!” Kanji agreed.
Yu nodded. “But enough talk about that. How about we head up to our room now? And don’t worry, (Y/N). We’ll take real good care of you, we promise.”
A clenching feeling was building up in your stomach, but there was also some excitement. So with a nod and a flustered face, you allowed Kanji to carry you upstairs with Yu following behind the both of you. You had the feeling you were going to be sweating a lot in the next few hours. Again, not just because of the hot temperature.
   Not that you minded.

Adachi for the character ask game! Lol
give me a character and I’ll say some stuff about them
ANON WHY djshflkjshdf I started laughing so hard when I saw this notification, followed immediately by a whine of despair bc OH GOD THE 5 GOOD QUALITIES
answers under read more
do I like them:
I did at first, and then I figured out he was the killer, and I got really sad, and now I’m just angry and want Yu to punch him <3
HOWEVER, I really love him as a villain. I think he’s incredibly realistic
5 good qualities:
he’s willing to help out the IT after he goes to jail. he gives them the hint about Izanami, comes back for p4au... thanks, Adachi, you didn’t have to do all that
walks around with that haircut and does not give a shit
doesn’t shoot Yu when they’re in the TV together (he gives me the impression that he wouldn’t be able to kill someone in person. I want to be clear, though, that that’s not a compliment)
i don’t know??????????
man loves his cabbages
3 bad qualities:
“you’re a girl who rejected me, so you deserve to die.” does this twice. and saki was a HIGH SCHOOLER. he’s 27.
allows Namatame to do his dirty work for him. he claims he’s BORED, but can’t bother to kill his victims himself?? he doesn’t even have to do it in person, he just has to push them into the TV!! instead, he manipulates Namatame into believing he’s helping these poor people when he’s actually putting them in danger
convinces the Dojimas that he’s trustworthy and then is the reason why Nanako almost dies. and Yu still wants to see the best in him, tries to reason with him before they go into his dungeon. god. fuck you, Adachi
favourite episode/etc: social link rank:
I LOVE when the Jester arcana shatters and changes to Hunger, I lost my MIND when I first saw it. started screaming at my tv and everything, it’s such a cool effect. also, the entire scene with Yu and Adachi talking in the TV one on one is PHENOMENAL. the dialogue options Yu gets as he tries to see if he ever knew Adachi at all are heartbreaking… the CAMERA ANGLES add so much tension and do a fantastic job of making everything feel surreal and off-putting…. and the narrative surrounding the scene, too, with Yu sneaking out to get there and Yosuke catching him and asking if he could trust the team more…. bro, I have emotions
otp:
none! I can’t even jokingly say I pair him with rotting in prison, or dying, bc he doesn’t care!!! he just doesn’t care!!!!!
brotp:
there’s a lot to be said about Dojima consistently visiting Adachi. Dojima has a hard time letting people go. Adachi was his partner, Dojima trusted him, and even though Adachi betrayed that trust (almost getting Nanako killed in the process), Dojima still feels a connection with him. which isn’t healthy, since Adachi isn’t apologetic. he may be living by “the rules,” now, and he may have helped out a few times, but. he’s not apologetic about the murders
ot3:
none
notp:
there are so many gross ships that are popular with Adachi and I hate all of them
best quote:
OKAY, it’s when he’s bringing Dojima home drunk, and Dojima trips coming into the house and is like “who put a step there!?!” and Adachi responds, “that’d be the carpenters, sir!” with his dumb smiling portrait. that makes me laugh EVERY TIME, the delivery is so good
head canon:
I can’t think of one, so I’m going to use this space to say that Chie should get to galaxy punt him out of existence. thank you and good day

Guns N’ Roses - Taki Kozaki (BirTAKIDAY Countdown: Day 5)
Early update today! Truth be told, I have no idea how this turned out, so I’m publishing it now instead of keeping it in drafts any longer bc then i’d shoot myself over the self scrutiny. So, if I pray to the gods that its good, and I hope you like it.
What if instead of the MC, Taki was the one who got shot?
Minor spoilers for Taki’s Season 4 Part 2. Like very minor lol. The creator chose not to give any warnings. Have fun. ;)
Tumblr media
A gunshot. That’s all I heard.
That’s the only sound that flowed into my ears while my arms mustered all their strength to push (Y/N) away from me, and into Yosuke’s safe embrace.
I think she screamed my name, but my mind probably didn’t register it as everything lulled around me. It was as if the world came to a slow stop when I felt the bullet rip through me. That was possibly the first time in a long time when I crumbled. Not emotionally, but physically. Right onto the ground in a heap of powerless limbs. What a bloodied sight to behold.
‘When was the last time I felt so lifeless?’ I thought, gasping for air. ‘Was it when my dad left me? Or was it when I got beaten up for not paying the debt on time?’ A lazy smile made its way to my face as broken flashbacks presented themselves to me. It had been a similar situation then, with me being a mass of broken bones, pulsating bruises and blood trickling out of me, just like my life.
How had I even survived?
I didn’t know. And maybe my mind didn’t want to think any further on those lines either, for the next thing I knew, I felt myself giving in to the vortex of black calling out to me, almost sensually. I sensed its fingers reach out to me, caressing me with a certain ease before it opened its arms to welcome me in its soothing, lifeless embrace.
Just as I felt myself extend an arm towards it, I heard someone calling me. No, I heard her calling me.
I tried to ignore it, I tried to ignore her, but the voice just kept getting louder and louder. It was as if it was trying to tell me that I couldn’t leave... not like this. I couldn’t leave it all without ending things the right way. The moment that epiphany came to me, my chest heaved as a burst of life was pumped back into me.
I somehow opened my eyes, clenching my wrists against the immediate pain, and blinked the haze out of them. I looked up, on the verge of losing consciousness again, only to see (Y/N) in front of me, clutching my hands tight in hers.
‘You’re too good for me,’ I thought, and I chuckled, ignoring the stabs of discomfort shoot through me. I gazed into her eyes, wet with desperation, begging me to fight, pleading me to do everything in my power to just, somehow, anyhow, just... stay.
“Ta...Taki, no, don’t- don’t do this, please,” she whispered, trembling. (Y/N) intertwined our fingers and bit her lip, staring back at me with a longing like no other. “Please, don’t close your eyes, okay? We can make it through this, I know we can, okay? We will make it through this,” she breathed, looking away, “Just... please, please don’t close your eyes...”
“(Y/N),” I finally uttered, pushing against the dryness coating the insides of my mouth. "(Y/N), look at me, love,” I whispered again, somehow lifting my fingers to her face, tilting it so that our eyes would meet once again.
“T-Taki- no, no no, please, no,” she murmured in one quick breath, as if sensing what was about to happen.
“I love you,” I breathed, smiling as I finally felt my life slip away from my loose fingers.
And with that, I slipped into a senseless, timeless dark world, feeling it consume me from the inside out.
Things escalated quickly after that. It was like the time that had slowed down to a stop finally sped up into a run, sprinting through my fading consciousness.
Yosuke called an ambulance, even though he knew it was too late, and I was rushed to the hospital where Shun and Kiyohito sat, awaiting any update Yosuke had for them. It didn’t take long for the doctor to leave my side and walk out of the room to let them know that there was no use praying, or hoping, or... wanting.
What was done, was done.
I was with them no more.
Kiyohito, for the first time in ages, looked downright terrified as he curled into Shun’s side, whose tense shoulders did nothing to hide the anxiety he felt either, but he tried to distract himself by rubbing comforting circles on Kiyo’s shoulder as the latter’s eyes welled up with tears, refusing to believe the news.
I feel a crack echoing in my already shattered heart when I recall how pale (Y/N) looked when she crumbled to the ground, silent as a graveyard.  Yosuke stood right beside her, clenching his fists to numb the pain even as a silent tear dripped down his cheek.
It happened only a week ago, but I remember everything so vividly that I still have a hard time believing if it’s really just memories or an actual movie playing at the front of my mind, every single day.
Sometimes, I still wonder if pushing her away was the right thing to do.
At the time, it seemed like it was. Pushing (Y/N) away meant saving her life, and that was all that mattered.
But now, as I watch her bite her trembling lip, quivering in her black dress while looking at the photo of me in a navy blue frame, I feel a twinge of regret. I look down at Sydney sitting beside her leg, curled up at her side, staring into my soul through the picture, and I feel a pinch of guilt for leaving this life and the two most important woman in them behind.
If anyone asked me why I’m here, I wouldn’t know how to answer them.
After all, what does one do at their own funeral?
‘I want to spend more time with you,’ I think, scoffing at myself for only realising that now, of all times. If only I looked her in the eye and not Ashiba when I felt the bullet pierce me, maybe I would have done things differently. Maybe I would have fought harder, longer. Maybe... maybe I would have saved us both.
But there never is any use crying over spilled milk, now is there?
I sigh, taking in another deep breath as I watch Yosuke walk over to the low podium, a wet handkerchief held tight between his fingers. He steps in front of the mic, and that’s when I catch a sight of his red eyes. This fool, still trying so hard to cover up how he’s feeling.
“Taki was...” he begins, before his trembling lips stop and he looks up, sniffing. “No, Taki is a...” a quiet sob pauses him, “... great friend. He has been, for the last ten years I’ve known him. Always so straightforward, always so blunt. He was so stuck up, I sometimes thought he had a stick shoved up his ass, you know?”
He laughs, but he fools nobody. His attempt at humor only backfires as his shoulders shake, and he finally lets his tears fall down. He sniffles again, trying to gather himself up, but a part of him gives up, and he just allows the world to see his cheeks, wet with tears, too tired to bother wiping them.
“But, I think that’s what I loved the most about him. His honesty. His strength. In all the years I had the honour to call myself his friend, he never once faltered. He was always so... driven. We didn’t meet under the best of circumstances, but I think life, for me at least, became a much better journey with him in it. I felt like I finally made a friend. We never explicitly stated it, but we both knew we had each other to fall back on, should we ever needed. That is... until that day one week ago. I-I’m sorry Taki, I-” he trembles,”I’m sorry I wasn’t there in time. I’m sorry I didn’t have your back when you needed it the most.”
He takes a moment to dab at his eyes with his kerchief before clearing his throat.
“I never admitted to it, but I loved the man despite all our arguments, our disagreements, our fights, our everything. I know, he loved me too. And I know, he is no longer around for me to pull his leg, or tease him,” Yosuke takes a quick breath, and when he starts speaking again, his voice is nothing above a whisper, “but I know he’ll be right here,” he touches his heart, “no matter what. I couldn’t be more grateful to have made a friend like you, Taki. God knows I’ll miss you and our banter, but... I hope you’re in a better place now. You lived a very, very good life. But I wish you’d stuck around longer, mate.”
Yosuke looks back at my picture near the coffin, and I feel my heart clench at the forlorn look he gives me.
“I’ll miss you, Tacks,” he whispers again, and I know he means it with everything he’s got. “Love you.”
I feel something wet splash against the back of my hand, and it’s then that I realise that Yosuke isn’t the only one tearing up.
This asshole. Who asked this brat to get all emotional? It wasn’t like him at all. And look what he did to me with his mindless mumbo-jumbo.
‘I’ll miss you too, Yosuke.’
One by one, each of the guys and (Y/N) say their pieces, and to my surprise, they all tear up once they look at the blue coffin inside which I lay. Heh, who knew I’d be so loved, after all?
Forget people crying for me, if ten years ago someone told me I’d even have the fortune of having someone attend my funeral, I’d laugh in their face. It’s funny how things change with time.
Before long, the proceedings are done, and it’s finally time to lay my lifeless body to rest. But just as my coffin is rested on the cool, welcoming earth, I catch (Y/N) leading a depressed Sydney to the pit. She takes the bouquet out of her mouth and places it over the wooden lid of the casket.
I gasp and feel a fresh wave of moisture greet the back of my eyes when I see what they are.
Roses. Nine of them.
‘Eternal love.’ I recall the meaning of this particular set of roses, and once again, I can’t help but be grateful to have such a friend like her. ‘Thank you.’
It’s when my wooden little residence is covered with soil and my tombstone is placed over it that I read the words chosen for me by them. Yosuke. Kiyohito, Shun, (Y/N) and Sydney. My family. A family that I’m leaving behind.
‘His true wealth was in his generous heart. And what an enormous wealth he had.’
And it’s with those lines, I finally feel myself vanish into thin air with a smile on my face. For ever.

Lightning Strikes
They knew it had been a bad idea to go into the TV that day. But Kanji needed training, and it was the only time everyone was free. When the team had first arrived, Teddie said he had sensed something in the Bathhouse. Souji had originally planned on going back to the Castle, but decided just to go there instead. That was the first mistake.
The second was leaving Yukiko at the entrance with Teddie. Forgetting he had fused away his persona with healing skills on the last trip, Souji thought they wouldn’t need her. He was supposed to restock their health items before coming. The only one with a healing spell was Yosuke, and his energy was quickly being depleted. They should've gone back the second he ran out.
The final mistake was not running at the first sound of chains. They had just finished fighting a hard battle, when Kanji spotted a chest. Souji knew he heard the rattles, the fog had thickened around them, but went to get the chest anyway. By the time they had finished grabbing it, they were cornered.
So that’s how they got here. Igor had warned him never to spend too long on a floor, lest he meet death himself.
Everyone was exhausted, and low on health. Chie and Kanji were desperately trying to fend the Reaper off, while Yosuke used what little magic he had left to replenish their life. Souji was digging through his bag, trying to find something, anything, that would help them. Minutes passed, and they were all growing more tired by the second. They weren’t going to be able to last much longer, and Souji knew that. He just needed to find something.
“Sensei! Be careful, you’re low on health!”
Teddie’s voice echoed through their heads.
Suddenly, Yosuke was hit with a massive bolt of lightning. He crumpled into a heap on the floor. Still breathing, he wasn't quite dead yet. But he was on the brink of death. Frantically, Souji reached in his bag one more time, and finally, finally, found what he was looking for. The last vanish ball. Running to Yosuke, Souji threw it on the ground, yelling for everyone to head to the stairs. Hoisting his boyfriend on to his shoulders, he made a mad dash for the stairway.  Somehow they all managed to get back to the entrance in one piece.
Yosuke’s heart rate had been quickly decreasing, inching closer and closer to death. Yukiko rushed to him first, casting healing spell after healing spell. The whole time, Souji never left his side.
It felt like forever, waiting for Yosuke to open his eyes again. For Souji, his whole world had stopped when he saw him lying on the ground, unmoving. If he hadn’t found that vanish ball, Yosuke would be-
No, he shouldn’t think about that. Yosuke wasn’t dead, and Souji would never let him die. Not on his watch.
Yosuke coughed. Snapping back to reality, Souji saw Yosuke coughing into his arm, attempting to open his eyes.
 “Oh thank god! You’re okay!”
Souji cradled him in his arms, tears dripping down his cheeks.
“Don’t ever scare me like that again!”
Yosuke chuckled shakily, smiling up at him.
“I was so scared! When you fell down that- that was horrible! Don't ever do that again! You dumbass idiot!"
He began sobbing into Yosuke's shoulder. Souji could feel the gentle thumps of Yosuke’s heart in his chest, and his warmth, giving him the proof he needed to confirm he really was alive.
“S-sorry partner. Guess I r-really am just a dumbass. Heh.”
Wrapping his arms around Souji, he slowly sat up.
“We should get out of here though, partner. It’s not safe.”
Souji just burrowed himself deeper into Yosuke’s hold.
Patting him gently on the back, Yosuke began, “Seriously. It’s not sa-”
 “I love you.”
Pressing his lips gently to Yosuke’s, Souji pushed his hands into his hair. The kiss was salty and warm, but oddly perfect. When they broke apart, Souji had finally stopped crying.
“I love you too Souji, but we really need to get out of here.”
Wordlessly, Yosuke was lifted off the ground, straight into Souji’s arms.
“W-woah there partner! I can walk just fine!”
Souji only gripped him tighter. Understanding he’d be fighting a losing battle if he tried to fight him on this, Yosuke leaned into his body.
The walk back to the portal was awful. Everyone was exhausted, and in pain. Yukiko had done her best to heal them all, but even she could only do so much. They said goodbye to Teddie before heading through, but even that took tremendous effort. Souji had set him back down when they arrived in the electronics department.
After the group had split up outside of Junes, it was only Yosuke and Souji left. Yosuke could still sense the distress radiating from Souji, even if he was trying his best to hide it. A frown had been etched on to his face, discomfort showing in his eyes.
Slipping his hand into the palm of Souji’s, he tugged him in the direction of the Dojima household.
Walking slowly, they made their way to the house. Yosuke kept a tight hold on Souji’s hand the whole time. He could tell Souji didn’t want to be left alone after today’s trip. The home was empty when they got there, but they ignored it in favor of going up to Souji’s room.
Souji was still slightly panicked, and Yosuke could tell.
 “Partner? Are you alright?”
Staring into the distance, tears began flowing down Souji’s cheeks once again.
“W-why didn’t you heal yourself? Yosuke, you could’ve died!”
Yosuke moved towards him, looping his arms around Souji’s back, and resting his head on his shoulder. He lifted one of Souji’s arms up to his neck, pressing his fingers to the side of it.
“But I didn’t, see? You made sure of that.”
Souji just squeezed himself around Yosuke, moving his hands on to his back. But when he touched it, Souji could feel raised lines underneath his shirt.
“Yosuke. Could you take off your shirt?”
“Hm? That’s a little forward there partner, isn’t it?”
That comment earned him a smack on the head.
“Not like that you idiot! I just felt something weird!”
“Uh huh. Whatever you say, partner.”
Nevertheless, Yosuke turned around to take off his shirt anyway. That’s when Souji saw it. All across his back was a large lightning shaped scar. Souji gasped. It was simultaneously the most beautiful, and most horrific sight he’d ever seen.
“What is it? See something you like?”
“Yes! I MEAN uh… just, go look in a mirror!”
Yosuke walked downstairs to the bathroom, stopping in front of the mirror, flipping around so he could see his back.
 “Holy shit!”
 “Now you see.”
They walked back up to Souji’s room together, discussing what to do if Yosuke’s parents ever saw the scar.
“I can’t just tell them I got struck by lightning! They would never believe me!”
Souji put his face in his hands.
“Just… cross that bridge when you get there? Try not to let them see you shirtless for a while, I guess.”
“God, I’m too tired for this.”
That piqued Souji’s interest. He looked up a Yosuke, who was putting his shirt back on.
 “Nap?”
Walking over to Souji’s couch and lying down, Yosuke motioned for Souji to join him.
Souji flopped gracefully on top of Yosuke, resting his head on Yosuke's chest, and intertwining their legs.
The last thing he felt before falling asleep, was Yosuke mumbling something, and the feeling of lips pressed against his forehead.

Unorganised thoughts on Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter:
Unorganised thoughts on the first game are here
No longer spoiler-free, sorry
So tl;dr I loved this game and I love these characters and this world and I’m so excited to play through the whole rest of the series. What an underrated gem
I liked that everyone’s status portraits were updated, FC’s were a little rough. Except Olivier’s - his original art is miles better, good lord. The updated one is so generic :(
Speaking of updates, here’s some on how I feel about the major characters:
Estelle: Estelle deserves the world. I love her and her development, she’s just so great. What I especially love is that I cannot think of any other JRPG hero I’ve seen who reacts to the villain’s grand monologue like she does. Most of the time it’s like, huge declarations of justice, and how evil will never win, but Estelle’s reaction to Weissmann ranting about the inherent evil of man was just, like, ‘nah, actually that’s stupid, I love my friends and we’re all nice people. You just suck dude’. And that works so well, and it was really refreshing, honestly. I just...  love her. I really love her.
Joshua: This poor traumatised boy who also deserves the world, my god. His backstory was so much darker than I was expecting (if I understood right, there were some implications that sexual assaults occurred in the Hamel massacre!? And that it nearly happened to his sister!? Which made me have to sit back for a moment because I did not think this game was gonna go there and it threw me for a loop). I like how his whole arc is about learning to not define himself by his trauma, I haven’t really seen that in a game before. I also love him.
I think Estelle and Joshua cute together and I support their romance, but if the game could stop reminding me post-get together that they used to be pseudo-siblings that would be great thank you
Agate: I did the Agate route mostly because I prefer using him in combat, and goddamn if I thought I liked him before. I think his arc is one of the best in the game, and I love him, and are you seeing a pattern? His friendship with Tita is also so sweet. I want to be friends with Agate
Schera: Might have had more to say if I’d done her route. I appreciated getting her backstory, and I thought her relationship with Luciola was well done, if not incredibly fascinating. As it stands, I like her just fine, even if I’m not as passionate about her as I am some of the others
Olivier: I still love this guy. I had his twist spoiled, but let’s face, it wasn’t the hardest to guess anyway. His rivalry with Bleublanc was funny, as are most of his interactions with other characters. He’s good comic relief in general, and I love using him in combat - on that note, though, I’m very angry with him for leaving in chapter 8, because he was the character I had invested the most into arts-wise, so I had to go fix up Schera just for that chapter (and then swapped to Zin as we lost ZFGs, for obvious reasons). I will say that he seems to have become a little more... creepy feels like a strong word, but I don’t think he was so forwardly suggestive in FC. It felt to me like he sort of went from Yusuke Kitagawa to Yosuke Hanamura, in a sense. But all the same, I still like him
He should have stayed in his prince look at the end though, it suits him better
Side note, I really love Mueller, and I love his and Olivier’s interactions, and I want more Mueller, why does he have to be a minor character :(
Kloe: So I wasn’t super into Kloe in FC, but I actually really loved her this time around - I thought her arc about deciding whether or not to accept the crown was well done, and the little conversation she and Estelle can have on the stage at the academy is one of my favourite scenes in both games. Also GOOD LORD do I love her outfit change at the end, she’s so pretty I want to cry
Tita: Most of what I like about Tita is her friendship with Agate, and also how smart she is. I’d probably have more to say about her if I ever used her beyond when the plot forces me to (I don’t like using glass cannon characters in games), as the unfortunate nature of SC is that you don’t get much dialogue if you’re benched. But yeah, I still like her as a character
Zin: I don’t dislike Zin, but I still find him kind of dull compared to the others. He’s fine, he’s there, he’s got a backstory with Walter and Kilika and that’s neat. Honestly the main thing I remember about all that is Zin revealing that their master had terminal cancer because I kind of just... didn’t think cancer existed in this universe, I guess. It threw me
Kevin: Firstly, I find it really, really funny that such an important and mysterious character who looks the way he does is named ‘Kevin’. But yeah, I like Kevin, I’m excited to learn more about him in 3rd. I liked his relationship with Estelle (It’s nice to see a guy who’s capable of backing off without being an ass about it. Shame there’s such a low bar). I am, though, honestly very creeped out by the mere concept of the Gralsritters, ngl
Bleublanc and Campanella were easily my favourite Enforcers. Bleublanc especially gets points for keeping himself relevant for the entire game
Renne is a character who I think I’m probably meant to feel more  sympathy for than I actually do, to be honest. You can’t make me like someone just by making them a cute little girl, Falcom, I’m sorry. Maybe I’ll feel differently after playing 3rd, I know she’s in it
I thought Loewe was well handled and I love that scene where he and Joshua hug at the end
I love the Ravens. I love that they got actual art. They’re amazing. I would play an entire spin-off game about the Ravens
And the Capuas! Can they all team up? Please?
Especially Josette, I came to really like her
A thing I’ve kind of realised about this game and its characters is that it’s a really good example of how tropes and cliches are not inherently bad - everyone in this game is based on some kind of mostly-unsubverted cliche, but they are incredibly well-executed cliches. You can have the most original characters in the world, but if they’re not written well, then what’s the point? I think a lot of writers conflate ‘unique’ and ‘surprising’ and (ugh) ‘subverting expectations’ with ‘good’. This game doesn’t make that mistake, and I appreciate that
Don’t get me wrong, unique and surprising and expectation subverting is also not inherently bad - just that it’s all in the execution
I like that Richard came back! And reformed! To be honest, though, (maybe this is controversial? idk), I thought he was a better antagonist than anyone in Ouroboros. His motivations made a lot more sense than those of most of the Enforcers
Honestly (excluding Renne and Campanella because those haven’t been fully revealed to me yet) Bleublanc was really the only one with a motivation I liked - I can respect a villain who does crimes just for the sake of being an asshole
Oh yeah, there’s also Anelace and her team - they’re all great. I would like to know more about Grant, he doesn’t get to do much
The side quest in chapter 8 at the academy where we get Kurt and Anelace is one of the best quests in the game
Oh, and that reminds me, Gilbert! I love Gilbert, he’s so lame. Fighting him is hilarious
I was very happy to see minor NPC Clive on the Arseille at the end. It’s what he deserves
I love that this game got me invested in the lives of the random NPCs
Screw that Abyss Worm bounty hunt, and also that fight with Renne on Ambryl Tower
I don’t know whose idea it was to fill this game, in this setting, with GIANT ROBOTS but it grew on me and I kind of love it now
I’ve decided Ruan is my favourite region, but Rolent is my favourite city
The Liber Ark is such a cool setting, I’m sad we only saw a tiny part of it for one chapter
I knew they weren’t going to kill off Joshua and Estelle, but I still cannot describe the rush of relief I felt when the dragon saved them at the end. I care about these kids, damnit!
There’s that one section in Grancel where everyone’s talking about Crossbell and then it never comes up again - set up the next arc of games a little less subtly, why don’t you?
(And then Cassius being like ‘the adventures will continue! But with other people!”)
I read all of The Doll Knight and I genuinely enjoyed it
This game has maybe the best end credits I’ve ever seen
...think that’s all my thoughts expunged! Now to play 3rd :D

Kidnapped by the Kings (Request)
The Epilogue to the Epilogue? *I apologize if I misunderstood, but I interpreted this request to write about what happened to the MC and Taki after they returned home after their wedding and the kidnapping situation was finally put behind him. This is a continuation from the series Kidnapped by the Kings, and you can find the previous epilogue HERE.
*Also, the ending is not smutty, but suggestive.
 One month after the wedding:
“Yosuke, I can’t find her anywhere,” Taki barked into the phone, “And don’t tell me to calm down! In case you didn’t quite understand me the first time, my pregnant wife is MISSING just shortly after being kidnapped not too long ago!”
Taki had left work and returned home to their new house a few hours earlier than normal, only to find MC wasn’t there. He tried calling her phone several times, but kept repeatedly getting sent to voicemail. Flashbacks of that awful period of her being taken crept into his mind, which led him to frantically call Yosuke for assistance in finding MC.
“For once can you not be an idiot and listen to me?” Taki rebuked to Yosuke’s urges to remain calm.
He was about to take his frustrations and let loose on the carefree investor, when the sound of the front door caused him to toss his phone out of his hand, and race over in a hopeful anticipation that his wife was the one returning.
“Taki? Are you already home?” MC’s sweet voice called out, as she stood in the doorway removing her jacket and shoes.
Taki let out a huge sigh of relief, when he saw that MC indeed was safely standing in front of him, appearing to be calm and unharmed.
“Oh, thank god!” Taki muttered, while running over to wrap her into a tight hug.
“Oof! Taki, stop squishing me!” MC grumbled, as she gently pushed him away. “I ran out of the prescription the doctor had prescribed to me, so I had to make an emergency trip to the pharmacy.”
Now that Taki was assured that MC was free from harm, anger began to boil within him. How dare she act that irresponsibility given what had previously happened to her?! He should have walked away to give himself sometime to cool off, but MC’s lackadaisical attitude about the well being of herself and their child proved to be too much for Taki to ignore.
“And given everything that has happened, it’s astonishing to me that you would think going out in public by yourself was an intelligent idea,” Taki scolded, and pointed to her swollen stomach. “Especially considering how vulnerable you are in your current condition.”
Taken aback by the atypical harshness that Taki was spouting, MC tried to blink back the tears that were now forming but was unsuccessful. A whimper escaped her lips, and MC loudly sniffled as she scurried into their bedroom.
“Sorry for that fact that picking up my medication classifies me as a total idiot in your eyes,” she snapped.
Taki attempted to chase after MC, but she slammed the door before he could make it over, clicking the lock shut behind her. The sounds of her sobs caused Taki to frantically try and shake the knob loose, yet despite his efforts the door refused to budge open.
“MC, if you don’t let me in, I’m going to be forced to take extreme measures to get this door open,” Taki called out.
MC still didn’t bother to respond back. Fortunately, Taki suddenly remembered the lock opener Yosuke gifted him that he stowed away in one of the kitchen cabinets. Taki never actually thought there would come a time he would grateful for one of Yosuke’s gifts. Today he was so overjoyed, he would have gone as far as hugging Yosuke if he was standing in front of him.
After a few moments of fiddling around with the lock, Taki successfully opened the door and immediately raced over to MC who was lying on the bed, tightly clutching a pillow to her chest.
“Hey, are you alright?” Taki whispered, while he climbed into the bed to lie next to her. “I’m sorry. I’m so, so, so sorry. I’m the only one that’s an idiot here.”
Remaining silent, MC snuggled up closer to Taki, who graciously accepted this as a sign to softly stroke her head, and massage small circles on her back.
“I overreacted and I took it out on you,” Taki confessed, “When you were taken from me, my whole word stopped dead. My life was meaningless without you in it, and when I thought you and our baby were gone today, my heart shattered into millions of pieces. This still doesn’t justify the manner I spoke to you in, and I deeply regret my poor actions. I’m begging you, MC…..please forgive me? I’ll do anything to make things right with you.”
MC could hear the true sincerity in his pleading voice and flipped over to smile at him. She giggled when she saw the hopeful look in his eyes and offered her assurance by planting a kiss on his lips.
“I forgive you. I hated being kept away from you for so long, so I understand the feelings behind your freak you. Don’t let it happen again though,” MC honestly responded.
MC climbed on top of Taki to straddle him, and was now looking down at her husband.
“Will you really do anything to make it up to me?” MC purred, grinding her hips down into him.
Taki exhaled sharply and held back a groan. Since the progression of her pregnancy, MC normally felt self-conscious about taking the lead on top, so this was a glorious surprise for the now turned on man.
“Hmm, anything for you,” Taki moaned, “Please keep doing that.”
“Only if you make sweet love to me then.”
Taki desperately nodded and MC leaned down to kiss him. The passionate tension between them had begun to intensify, until MC pulled away.
“Oh, and I want ice cream afterwards. Lots of it, so you better not hold out on me!”
Taki burst into laughter, admiring MC’s ability to be able to think of food at a time like this.
“You drive a hard bargain, but you got yourself a deal!”
They gazed at each other with adoration and thanked the lucky stars for their reconciliation. Taki didn’t quite understand what he did in life to deserve this type of happiness, but he couldn’t wait to see what was in store for them, and the newest addition of their family.
“No matter what happens, I’ll never allow anything to ever come between us again.” Taki solemnly vowed.
Wanting to catch MC off guard, he tickled her thighs and pulled her into an embrace, ready to fulfill the first part of his promise for the evening.

Mako-fam (a pq2 fanfic)
{Made another commitment to @thieves-in-the-palace so let’s go! (It’ll be a short fic I said, I’ll only hint at my ships I said. I might actually write a sequel to this focused on 20XX) Rated T, for strong language, “slight” (Ha, this thing is flooded with ship content) Okijuma, Yukichie, Souyo, Pegoryu, Annshiho, Yukamitsu, Junpei x Chidori and Akimina[just gonna shove a bunch of ships in here. I actually hit the tag limit.] and spoilers for Ticket 32}
Makoto Niijima, a girl with three families. One, the Phantom Thieves. Two, the Investigation Team. Three, SEES. Though she didn’t exactly know about the persona part. Until now.
They’ve just rescued the IT from Junessic land. Except for Yosuke. But they’ll have to find him later.
“Goro, can I speak to you for a second?” Makoto asks the brown-haired boy next to her.
“Yeah sure, in the theater?”
“Of course”
They walk over to the Kamoshidaman theater and plop down into the seats.
“FUCK, GORO! AUNT CHIE AND AUNT NAO HAVE PERSONAS?!”
“I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!”
They screamed for about another five minutes before they calmed down.
“Okay so, we just have to act normal. We can deal with this. It’s just Aunt Chie and Aunt Nao.”
“Yeah, I mean what are the odds that Uncle Aki has one too?”
*A.I.G.I.S*
“Goro, can I talk to you? Please?!” Makoto almost yells out, letting the slightest amount of panic into her voice.
“Yeah... sure...”
As they walk back into the Kamoshidaman theater, Goro‘s eyes start to widen. He’s finally comprehending.
“UNCLE AKI HAS A PERSONA?!”
“FUCK, MAKOTO I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!”
“YOU THINK I CAN?!”
Another five (20) minutes of screaming later...
“Okay, so our entire family has personas. We can deal with this.”
“Makoto. Uncle Aki just used an honorific on you. He never does that. It’s always either Mako-chan or Makoto. Same thing with Aunt Nao and Aunt Chie. And the rest of the family.”
“...I still remember how proud Aunt Nao was when they started calling you “the second coming of the detective prince”. She literally screamed out “THAT’S OUR BOY” when you were on tv. She was so happy.”
“Ha, remember when on your 15th birthday Uncle Aki and Aunt Chie gave you brass knuckles? Sae was so pissed”
“And then they got me Steel-toed boots and taught me how to do a roundhouse kick!”
“Do you still have those?”
“I never go anywhere without them.” And she pulls the brass knuckles from her bag.
“We’ve just got to bite back a few nicknames, and we’ll be fine.” Makoto whispers.
“Yeah.” Goro says back to her, with a small smile.
*ticket 32*
Makoto’s talking to Haru.
“Mako-chan, you’ve got to be a little less reckless! I don’t have my grenade launcher here to protect you!”
“I know, Haru. It’s just that I can’t help it when I see someone hurt my family.”
“Hmm...” Haru says, with a contemplative look on her face. Makoto wonders how she got this lucky to have this beautiful and sweet of a girlfriend.
“I guess I have Ren to thank for that” she thinks
And then Elizabeth talks about a new special screening.
“Maybe this is our chance?” Akihiko says to Chie.
Oh god oh no oh fuck- Makoto thinks
“Huh?” Chie replies to him
“Remember what Makoto said?”
And suddenly, Makoto’s having a flashback.
“Makoto, learning close-combat battle’s all well and good, but you need to learn a proper diet. Don’t eat meat 24/7 like they do” Naoto says to a younger Makoto.
“Aw, come on Naoto! Steak’s delicious!” Chie fires back.
Makoto smiled, a rare occurrence since the death of her father.
“Hey, look! She’s smiling!” Akihiko said to the other two.
“Aww, you’re so adorable, Makoto!” Chie said to her.
“I’m 13! Not three!”
Akihiko laughed, and said “I think she’s been hanging out with Ken too much.”
“Now come on! Show me a kick that could punt someone into the stratosphere!”
“Chie-!”
“Watch me go, Coach!” Chie says, and Makoto’s violently thrown back into the present.
“Heh! My fists have been aching for some action. Time for a one-two punch into the finishing blow!”
“*sigh* Whatever you say. Let’s just get going for now.”
As they’re walking, Yukiko walks up to Chie.
“Chie, you’re starting to scare her. Calm down a bit. I mean, you barely know her and you’re calling her Coach!”
“I’m sure she’s fine!”
“...I still can’t believe you’re my Prince Charming.”
“Ha! No take-backs, Yukiko! You’re my princess and I’m your Prince!”
And then Yukiko falls into a laughing fit.
And right behind them, Goro and Makoto are having a panic attack conversation
“I can’t believe they’re asking you to train them. They taught you everything you know!” Goro says, shocked.
“I know!”
“...Don’t you already know their weaknesses?”
“Yeah, Aunt Chie moves just slow enough to sweep her stable leg out and if Uncle Aki gets riled up enough he exposes his stomach.”
“Then fight them!”
“That’s not actually a bad idea...”
“There it is! Let’s get in there and land the first strike!” Akihiko yells.
Goro rolls his eyes and says “There he is. I was wondering when he was gonna go battle crazy.”
“Roger that, I’m ready to learn from the best!”
“And there she goes...” Makoto whispers
“...Wait, there’s no road!?” Chie screamed
“Whoa!”
Goro was barely able to restrain his laughter
“Calm down, you two. First, we need to assess the situation. See the enemy’s orientation. Gauge it’s speed, movements, and position. Observe, then predict its actions.”
This time it was Goro’s flashback.
“Come on, Goro. You need to observe. Predict their actions.” Naoto whispered.
“She’s right. Now, come at me!” Akihiko told him.
“Wait!” Minato walked in. “Use this!” And he handed him a wooden rapier.
Goro’s eyes glittered. “It’s just like the ones heroes from those movies use!”
“Très Magnefique!” Mitsuru exclamimed. “A one-handed sword!”
“Babe, Mitzi, come on. You know that the best weapon is a pair of fists.”
“You’ve got Makoto, let us have him!” Minato said to him.
“Come on, Lances are the best weapon to use!” Minako said, as she walked in.
Everyone in the room shot her down.
“You have Ken!” Chie said.
“What about me?” Ken said as he walked in.
“Nothing, we’re just arguing about weapons again.” Minato said to him, with a small smirk on his face.
“Nothing beats a Katana!” Yu said as he walked in.
Yukiko said, “You’re all wrong! Fans are easy to hide, and they can pack a punch!”
“Yukiko. My princess. I love you, but you’re wrong.”
The squabbles between them brought a sweet smile to Goro’s face. He had a family.
“Okay, come on! This is how you use a sword!” Minato said, and Minato and Mitsuru did a demonstration on sabers and swords.
“Let’s go, Chie! I’ll race you!” Akihiko said to the brown-haired girl, just as Goro’s flashback ended.
Makoto backed up to join Goro.
“Think we should join them?” She asked
“Of course we should, Queen.”
And they both bolted off to join them.
*after the ticket*
“So, a special diet, huh? You know they’re gonna cave. Aunt Nao’s been trying and failing for years.” Goro whispered to her.
“I know, but I might as well give it a shot, huh?”
Meanwhile, in the background, Minato and Yukiko are chatting.
“God, why is she so similar to both of them? They never told us what year they were from... Do you think that maybe they left us for each other or something and had her?” Yukiko said to him.
“No... that’s crazy. At least I hope not.” Minato replied to her.
“I mean, if they’d be happier with each other, then I’d accept it. Because I love her too much to not see her happy.”
“Yeah, same.”
“Ugh, I’m weirdly jealous. I mean, it might not even be true.”
“Yeah...”
And a few more battles in ??? later...
“Ugh!” Yosuke said, as he collapsed in a heap.
“Partner!” Yu said, as he took out the shadow and bolted to Yosuke’s side. “Yosuke, are you alright?!” His voice going a few octaves higher than it normally would.
Makoto gets another flashback.
“Partner?” Yu asks a half-asleep Yosuke, as they watch a movie. “Come on, we’re with Makoto and Goro. Weren’t you the one who wanted to watch this movie?”
Yosuke plants a sloppy kiss on Yu’s cheek
“Yeah, but I’m tired. I mostly wanted an excuse to spend time with you.”
Yu had the tiniest hint of a blush on his face.
Makoto and Goro stopped watching the movie in favor of watching the romcom taking place right next to them on the couch.
“P-partner please there are children watching”
“Aw, getting flustered already?”
“Mako-chan! Behind you!” Haru screeched out
Makoto dodged it and kicked it in the face to kill it.
“Thanks, babe!” She yelled to her as she got back onto her feet.
Akihiko walked up to her, and asked “Are you alright?”
“Yeah thanks u- Akihiko-san”
Phew, that was close she thought to herself.
Meanwhile, back to the salty s/os...
“She cut herself off. She was going to call him something different. It seems more and more likely that Akihiko’s her dad.” Yukiko muttered.
“Earlier, I think she did the same thing to Chie.” Minato whispered back.
“I’m so fucking jealous”
“God, same”
“Ooh, my brother’s jealous, huh?” Minako said, as she popped in.
“Minako-!” He said back to her.
*back in the theater*
Hikari clapped her hands as she welcomed them back.
“Yeah! No sweat! Eff those shadows!” Ryuji said as he threw his fist into the air.
“I still don’t understand why you can’t just say fuck, like the rest of us.” Chie said to him.
“Well, you see...” Ren started. “My boyfriend here is a total momma’s boy. We love him for it. His mom told him to never say fuck, so he doesn’t. He loves his mom. And so do we. She’s basically all our mom now.”
“Yeah, I still remember the look of horror on her face when I said it around her!” Ann said to everyone else.
Ren planted a soft kiss on Ryuji’s cheek.
“Ugh, why is everyone so affectionate here?! I miss my sweet Chidorita...” Junpei exclaimed.
“Oh yeah, same. I miss Shiho so much. I should take her out for crepes when we get home.” Ann said.
And then
“Whoa, the room just got a bit colder...”
“I can feel it. Someone’s salty.”
“It’s coming from... over there!” And Junpei points to an obviously pissed off Yukiko and a Wildcard Mode Minato.
“Okay, what are you two so salty about?” Ann asks them.
And then Minato does his catchphrase. “I don’t care”
“Aw, are your s/os not paying enough attention to you two?” Ren teases.
Minato’s hand slightly curled and the other three protags show their shock.
“Guys! What has you all going insane?!” Ann screams out.
“That thing Minato did with his hand? That’s the wildcard equivalent of ‘I’m gonna cut a bitch’” Ren explains.
“...That little hand thing?”
“Yeah!!”
“Okay, but that still leaves the question, why?”
“That, I don’t know.”
“I’m just going to say it!” Yukiko says, with barely restrained anger
“Makoto, what were your parents names?” She asks.
“Wait! Hold the fuck up! If you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking, you’re wrong! I’m Ken’s age! I’m not the child of anyone here!” Makoto screams out in a single breath.
“Oh. Well now I just feel like an idiot.” Yukiko says.
Minato rubs the back of his neck with his hand and blushes just the tiniest bit.
And Makoto gets another flashback.
“Hey! Uncle Mina! Didn’t you say that Aunt Mitzi and Uncle Aki were teaching you french? Could you help me with my homework?” Makoto asks.
“I’m... not very good, but alright.”
“It’s just a reading assignment. We’ll be fine.”
Goro gives a small smirk from where he’s sitting on the dorm couch.
“What is it supposed to be?” Minato asks the girl.
“I don’t know, just read it!” She yells out.
“Okay, okay!” He chuckles as he starts translating it
“My love, your hair is as soft as a flower’s petals, yet your heart is thorned. Never to let anyone too close. I’m glad that you let me and everyone else into your heart. I never thought I had an eye for beauty, until I saw your face. I’ve traveled the world, and yet I’ve always wanted to come home to you. You’re a warrior. And I’d like to fight by your side until the end. So, will you be by my side forever? Love-” Minato choked on the last word. He dropped the letter and slammed his hands over his mouth. He turned around, not quite trusting his voice. There, Akihiko Sanada sat, blushing so hard that it seemed he might pass out. Minato thought a nod yes would suffice. It did. The entire dorm went up in cheers and everyone was excited for the newly engaged couple.
Makoto loved that memory. She always thought it was romantic, the way he proposed.
So when she saw them on the couch, Minato asleep on his boyfriend’s shoulder, she was happy knowing that a couple who fights together, stays together.
But there’s something more important to do, soon. After Minato wakes up.
After he does wake up, Makoto finally challenges Akihiko and Chie to a fight.
“A fight?” Chie asks her
“Well, a training bout.” Makoto says. “Both of you, against me.”
“If you insist.” Akihiko says, and he throws a punch that Makoto dodges easily.
“Too easy! Give me a challenge at least!”
Chie throws out a kick. Another dodge. And Makoto takes out her leg from under her.
“Huh!” Chie screams, as she collapses into a heap.
“Chie!” Yukiko screams from the back.
“That’s one down!” Ren screams from the back.
Another punch. Makoto pirouettes out of the way.
“That all you can do?!” She taunts him
Akihiko’s temper gets the better of him. Makoto smirks. He leaves his stomach exposed for a split second. Makoto throws as much force as she can behind a punch directly to his gut
Makoto shakes out her hand, as Akihiko goes crumbling to the floor.
“Damn. I’m impressed.” Mitsuru says from the back. “Are the two of you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine” Chie tells the redhead.
“Same here.” Akihiko says as he brings himself to his feet.
And then their eyes start sparkling. Makoto’s bombarded with questions.
Makoto and Goro have the same flashback at the same time.
“Alright, is everyone ready?” Minako asks the kids, who are holding wooden weapons. She kicks off a training match between Goro, Makoto, and Ken.
(Everyone knows Ken’s going to win, but it’s good experience for the others.)
Unfortunately, Ken forgets that this is a training match. He puts too much force behind his hits and accidentally knocks Makoto’s arm so hard that he dislocates her shoulder.
“Ow, damn!” She mutters out, not wanting to seem weak.
“Sorry, sorry!” Ken yells as he throws the wooden lance to the side and runs over to her.
Yukari runs over to her side and starts to examine it. She sighs in relief. “It’s okay, we just need to pop it back in.”
The entire dorm sighs in relief.
Yukiko plops down on Makoto’s other side, and grabs her hand.
“Look at me, alright?” She tells the girl.
Yukari pops here shoulder back in, which gives her pain for a split-second, until a cool, soothing sensation permeates her body
Looking back on it now, Yukari had probably used diarahan on her.
“-oach? Coach? Coach!” Chie’s voice snapped her back to the present.
“I’m sorry, I got distracted. What were you saying?” She asked the brown-haired girl.
“Makoto, are you feeling alright? You seem a bit out of it.” Akihiko asked her.
“I’m fine” she says. She’s a liar.
*another run in ??? later*
“Makoto-san, I’ve been wondering. How did you learn to be so good at riding a motorcycle?” Mitsuru asks her.
You taught me! She thinks
“Johanna taught me. She is a part of me after all!” Makoto quickly says, trying to act casual.
It seems to satisfy the red-headed executioner, as she walks away.
Flashback time~
“Mitsuru, I swear to god if you take her out on your motorcycle-” Akihiko starts
“She’ll be fine! We’ll be with her!” Yukari replies
“That’s what I’m worried about! Mitsuru, you once used a pileup as a ramp, and Yukari, you once took a sharp turn on an icy road so fast that we almost skid into another car!”
“Just because you can’t handle the way I drive-” Mitsuru starts
“You once told me ‘I paid for the whole speedometer, I’m using the whole speedometer!’”
“Exactly!” Yukari replied to him.
“...I’m not going to talk you out of this, now am I?”
“Not even close!” They both replied, in unison.
“You two are perfect for each other... just don’t get yourselves killed.”
And that was the day that Makoto learned how to ride a motorcycle like a maniac, with a crash course from Mitsuru and Yukari.
Makoto literally drives herself off a tree.
“Mafreidyne!” She screams, and takes out the shadows.
She returns her mask and walks with the rest of the group.
Surrounded by all three of her families, she thought that this alternate dimension thing might not be so bad after all.

NOTE: Happy birthday to me! Though this might be posted right AT midnight my time, so technically after my birthday. Also, there won't really be much smut this chapter; just coupley fluff and a hint of steaminess.
                                                        CHAPTER SIX
"Well, you two sure are snug as bugs in a rug."
Chie scowled over at Yosuke as they sat around on the school roof, ploughing their way through plastic bowls of instant miso ramen. "I don't have any idea what you're talking about."
"I'm talking about this." He leaned way forward, headphones slipping around on his neck as he poked his chopsticks between her and Yukiko's arms. And touched both of them. "You've been glued at the hip all day!"
"We have not." Cheeks having taken on the vaguest of rosy tints, Yukiko pretended to find her ramen much more interesting as she daintily drew the noodles into her mouth. She did slurp, but it was somehow a polite slurp; Chie never knew how she did it, while she was over there making enough noise to tell the whole school what she was eating for lunch.
"I mean, do you think I'm dumb? Let me rephrase," he cut Chie off when she held up a finger to respond, taking a deep breath as well. "I'm not dumb. I can see that something's different. Like, all day has been a chick clique, with me and Narukami all benched over here."
"I haven't felt 'benched'," Yu put in very mildly, though he had also been glancing at the two girls just as curiously.
Finally, Yukiko broke her silence, though she was still staring down into her lunch. "I think you're making a lot out of nothing, Hanamura-san. There's nothing wrong with two friends spending time together, especially after going through something so harrowing."
"'Hanamura-san'? Geez, it's like that, huh?" Yosuke sighed, scratching the back of his neck.
"Listen to Yuki-chan," Chie snapped. "Like, it's none of your business, anyway. But yeah, we're just hanging out! You think it's weird? For two girls to be friends?"
"No! But I don't think that's the only thing going on here." Squinting slightly, he pointed at Chie with his chopsticks again. "I think there's a lot more than just 'gals being pals', y'know? Like, Class S-"
"God, here we go," she groaned with a huge roll of her eyes as she set her bowl aside. "You and your 'everything is dirty' brain, you pervert." She stood up and cracked her neck, then started rolling her arm around to loosen her shoulder. Immediately, he was throwing up both hands to ward her off.
"Wait, wait! Hey, I don't think there's any call for violence, exactly! C'mon, what's the big deal in me pointing out what it looks like?!"
"The 'big deal' is that you're trying to make something normal into some gross fantasy in your brain!"
"Hey, can you blame me? After what we saw in the TV… I mean, your shadows were really into it…"
Instantly, he was being kicked down to sprawl out on his back by a very irate Chie. Limbs flailing everywhere, he tried to fend off the brown loafer that continued to descend upon his face and chest repeatedly for the next few seconds. "AH! CHIE! FOR CHRISSAKE, CUT IT OUT WILLYA?!"
"MAYBE QUIT BEING A GROSS PIG AND I WILL!"
While he was still trying to protect his face, Yu commented calmly, "The gross pig has a point. If shadows are part of who you are, it's not such a strange question to ask."
"Et tu, Yu?" Yukiko sighed, frowning down at her bowl. "Isn't it bad enough we had to be there while you two saw the other us… doing such things?"
"You say that like it wasn't the best show of my life!" Yosuke chuckled — earning him a fresh strike to the mouth with a rubber sole. "RGH! Okay, get off, I'm kinda done!"
Finally reclaiming her spot next to Yukiko, Chie grumbled, "Me too. Like, stop being so disgusting."
"Oh yeah?" He sighed and shook his head. "What a waste lesbians are."
While Yukiko's head began to sink lower, Chie's face burst a few capillaries as she snapped, "WHAT?! Okay — listen, you jackass! Y-you don't even know what you're- and what do you mean, a 'waste'?!"
"Like, that's two less girls for the rest of us," he continued to protest as he stirred his noodles. "Hard enough for some guys to get dates without some chicks pairing off with each other."
Chie took a deep breath to reply… but to her surprise, it was Yu who said, "I think that's ignorant. They should be able to date whoever they want."
"What?" Eyebrows sky high, he snapped, "Yu, bro… how can you stab me in the back like this?"
"Stop being dramatic. And I'm sure there will still be plenty of girls to ask out. Don't you have someone you're interested in? Anyone at all?"
"Risette," he sighed wistfully. When the other three were blinking at him in surprise for a few seconds, he cleared his throat. "I-I mean, that Ebihara is hot. But I dunno, I don't have any game."
"You really don't," Chie confirmed.
"Whoa, shots fired…"
"What do you expect, man? You treat girls like Pocky flavours, just trying to pick which one suits your mood today. Seriously, do you even care about how they feel? Whether or not their personalities match yours? You just seem to care if they have big boobs and nice hair."
Taken aback, he finally set his ramen aside. "What the hell, Satonaka? I thought we were friends, and you're like, totally ripping me a new one here! What did I ever do to you?"
"For starters, you told me and Yukiko that we're 'too close' and a 'waste of space'."
"Hey, I never said 'waste of space'. Just like, a waste of two really gorgeous, available women."
"Lies! You have never thought I was gorgeous."
"Oh. Good point." This time, she actually took her loafer off and threw it at his head. "WHOA! Hey, hey — I wanna live, I WANNA LIVE!"
                                                        ~ o ~
Despite trying her best to focus on positive thoughts, Chie's blood was still boiling well after school let out for the day. She kicked a can down the quaint, lazy street toward the rest of Inaba, still grumbling about how chauvinistic he was and that they were better off not dealing with someone who didn't even see them as fellow humans.
"He isn't that bad," Yukiko snickered. "He could use some work, but… you know he doesn't really believe those things."
"Yeah? Well I think he's worse than we think!"
"How can he be worse than you think if you already think he's worse?"
"That's… well…" Pouting, she watched her footsteps for a while as they paced through the homey little downtown district. "Y-you know what I meant. Like, I know he's a boy, but so is Yu and at least he's halfway decent. There's no excuse!"
"Maybe not." They were quiet for a moment. "Um, do you want to stop by Souzai Daigaku? Grab a couple of croquettes?"
Chie knew what she was doing. Obviously this was a ploy to distract her from her ranting about their friend's misogynistic tendencies. And… it worked, but only because she knew Yukiko didn't like gossiping all that much and wanted to spare her. "For sure. I crave meat — oh, and a lemon soda."
"Okay," Yukiko chuckled as she slid her arm through Chie's. The action seemed to bring both of them to a sudden halt, and she blinked. "Oh. That's strange, I… I didn't mean to do that. But it felt very…"
"Natural," Chie supplied. After only a tiny hesitation, she raised a hand to rest on Yukiko's wrist, keeping her there. "It's cool. I don't think anybody's gonna pay attention… we probably won't, uh… be noticed…"
Nodding her agreement, they continued to walk arm in arm. Despite her confident words, Chie's heart was racing. Somebody was going to call them yuri — make some kind of gay joke, or even just a simple catcall would be a fate worse than death. But maybe they wouldn't be seen at all.
They were.
"Ohhh, so pretty!"
The two looked around for a moment, trying to find the source of the compliment and figure out why it was even made. But nobody was closeby. Had they imagined it?
"Oh!" Yukiko breathed when she finally looked down.
A small elementary school girl was standing in front of them, wide smile and brown pigtails radiating pure innocence. Her little pink dress was on over a white turtleneck. Chie found herself wanting to pick her up and put her on a shelf, she was so adorable.
"Awww, hello there!" she gushed with an equal grin.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" The girl gave a little bow. "Are you two on a date? I didn't mean to stop you!"
"Wh-WHAT?!"
But Yukiko led with, "N-no, it's okay. But what did you think was pretty?"
"You! I mean, I've never seen a girl as pretty as you, ever — 'cept maybe Risette! But she's a star. Nobody as pretty as Risette would be in Inaba."
While she was still trying to recover her voice, Chie squatted down to ask, "Hey, what's your name?"
"Huh? Oh, I'm Nanako." Then she seemed to remember her manners and bowed. "N-nice to meet you."
"Likewise," she chuckled. "And you're right, this is the most beautiful woman in the whole world."
"Really?" she breathed in wonder — while Yukiko made flustered noises beside her.
"Yep! And we're really lucky to see her! They say she only appears to little girls who have been really good this year."
While Nanako was looking completely enthralled, Yukiko tutted, "Don't fill that poor girl's head with nonsense!" But she was blushing a bright red to match her sweater.
"Sorry," Chie laughed, though she didn't sound especially sincere about her apology, before she turned to pet the little girl on the head. "It was nice meeting you, but we have a date with meat."
"Okay!" she breathed, still obviously very taken with the idea of a magically appearing prettiest girl in the universe. She waved distractedly as the two moved off toward the restaurant.
"Well she didn't seem to mind that we were arm-in-arm."
Yukiko smiled through her rosy, embarrassed expression. "You're terrible. But… I suppose I appreciate the compliment. Thank you."
Now they were both flustered. Luckily, their trip to Souzai Daigaku in silence could help them temporarily forget they were in the middle of such a touchy, anxiety-inducing conversation.
Which only lasted until Chie was halfway through her order of way too many croquettes. Yukiko had mostly just been watching her devour them with wide eyes, both disgusted and impressed as she nibbled at her own single croquette.
"WHOO!" she burst out. "This is great! Time for dinner now."
"Time for- you really are a bottomless pit." When Chie only saluted like an American soldier, she giggled. "Wow. Do you want to head into Aiya for a beef bowl? I'm not hungry, but… I don't mind spending more time with you."
Obviously that got her best friend grinning like a loon. "R-really? I mean, you know I'm going to be taking the portal to the meat dimension."
"Oh? I thought they only served that on rainy days."
"Well… they'll make it for me, since I'm one of their best customers. But I have to pay more if it's not raining. Seems like a fair trade-off." She finished off her croquette and stood. "Ready?"
Still caught off guard, she blinked and stood beside Chie. "Lead the way."
The Chinese diner happened to be right next door to the croquette stand, so it wasn't as if they had a long walk ahead of them. Chie pulled her to the door by the hand, and Yukiko stumbled briefly before adapting to the quickened pace, sliding her arms around her prince's to steady herself. All smiles. They were so giddily in love, even though they hadn't been at all aware of said love a couple of days ago. Life could change so fast…
"Welcome!" said a girl in a red apron with short blue hair and a white scarf covering most of it — which was most of what one could see, given that she was already bowed low in greeting. "How may we serve you?"
"Hey, Nakamura!" Chie said casually enough. "Not out on deliveries today?"
The server straightened and shrugged with a smile. "Nope, Satonaka-san." Clearly she was being formal because they were customers, but her tone and expression was full of familiarity. "Booth in the back?"
"Sure! And you already know what I want. Yukiko?"
"Oh, just a small order of zhēngjiǎo," she told her with a wave of her hand. "And green tea. Thank you, Aika-chan."
"With chicken?" Yukiko nodded, and Aika beamed. "I'll have those out for you right away. Please have a seat."
They made small talk until their food arrived a few minutes later. Chie plunged into the mega beef bowl with gusto while her new girlfriend daintily nibbled at her plate of steamed dumplings. Halfway through, she began to pet up and down Chie's back with her free hand.
"Hmhg?" Chie asked around a mouthful of beef, eyes wide when she turned them on her. Yukiko giggled, which only made her grin — while morsels of food dropped from her lips.
"YUCK!" she cackled, while Chie blotted at her mouth with a napkin. "I'm actually dating a pig!"
After having swallowed down the rest of her mouthful, she laughed and nudged Yukiko with her shoulder as she started to dig into the fried egg on top of the bowl at last. "Sorry, sorry. But like, it was hilarious watching you get grossed out." Which only earned her the daintiest tongue sticking out at her.
They lapsed back into a comfortable silence for a few more minutes. This time, when Yukiko pet her back, Chie didn't overreact; just hummed and relaxed into the gentle touch. It really was a night and day difference. Instead of making them feel awkward and weird, now it was warm, and safe… it felt like a little piece of home could be created wherever and whenever they chose.
"I really… can't believe how easy this is."
"Mm," Chie hummed around her mouthful before reaching over to lay a hand on her bestie's forearm under the table. Once she managed to chew and swallow it down, she whispered, "It's pretty crazy, I can't believe I'm starting to get used to this. Keep thinking you're going to snap out of it and like, tell me to get away from you. Because I'm… whatever it is I am."
Yukiko tutted at her as she wrapped both arms around Chie's, laying her head on her shoulder. "You say that like it's just you. Not both of us. Maybe you had those thoughts about me first but clearly I'm not running away. So…"
When she didn't finish right away, she prompted, "What?"
"So, um… don't be so…" She swallowed. "Don't be mean to yourself. Don't put it all on you, especially when I'm happy. This is a good thing, not a death sentence."
"O-oh, I never- I didn't mean it was bad! Just like, weird, and it's gonna get people saying weird stuff about us. Like Yu and Yosuke already keep doing."
"They should be ashamed of themselves," she sighed as she dipped another jiaozi into the tiny pool of sauce. "Well… Yosuke should especially, but Yu was also too persistent."
Shaking her head, Chie stirred the contents of her bowl angrily. "Oughtta stomp all over those two. Like, it's none of their business! I don't care what they saw in the TV!"
"Shhhh, I'm sorry." Yukiko pet her thigh now, kissing the side of her neck. "I didn't mean to get you upset. Even though I do agree with you. So… relax, alright? Enjoy the meal."
But that presented a brand new development for Chie. Her stomach fluttered as she realised they weren't just cuddling, or being good friends. Food was now completely gone from the forefront of her mind. They were together, in public, and Yukiko was touching her leg. That thin uniform skirt was the only protection from getting to fully enjoy the warm smoothness of her dainty hand.
"Y-Yuki-chan…"
"What? Is something wrong?"
The hand came to a stop, yet Chie was still breathing shallow and rapid when she said, "O-oh, nothing, I just… I'm having a good time. With you! Yeah, with you, um… h-honey."
Both Yukiko's flawlessly-shaped eyebrows shot up. "Honey?!"
"SHHHH!" she hissed at her desperately. "I don't know, I've never had a girlfriend before! Or boyfriend! An ANY-gender-friend!"
"Oh, my honey!" Yukiko snickered in English, entire face lighting up. Lapsing back into her native tongue, she purred, "I think it's really sweet. Funny, but sweet."
"Oh, shut up, Honey!"
"Wow, that isn't very nice. And here I'm being so affectionate toward you."
Though Chie's mouth opened to protest, no sound came out when she felt impossibly soft lips barely pressing into the corner. This was insane! Anybody could see them — anyone from school, from in and around their neighbourhoods. The proprietors of Aiya. All of Inaba. Not only was the hand still teasing her leg, but it seemed to be heading down toward her knee. The hem of her skirt.
"Yukiko… this is so bad, what happens if they catch us?! We're gonna be out to the whole freaking town!"
Snickering a little, the innkeeper whispered into her ear conspiratorially, "Nobody's watching us, I promise. Look around." Her other hand casually gestured to the inside of the restaurant, where couples, men dining alone, groups of students eating while they studied, filled its interior. None of them were looking in their direction.
"A-ah. But…" Chie licked her lips as she felt her skirt being hiked up by the playful fingertips. "They could still… turn around and see you doing this… isn't that illegal, anyway?"
A little at a time, Yukiko's playful smirk faded and she dipped her head as her hand came to a stop. "Sorry, my Prince. I guess I just really want to make you feel good, and it seems exciting to do it right here, but... you're right, it's too risky. I don't know what got into me!"
"Oh, hey…" She put an arm around Yukiko's shoulders, pulling her in close against her body. "I'm not mad or anything. Just like, freaked out at the idea. Do you still wanna try it?"
"No," Yukiko told her with a small smile. "Well… yes, but it isn't that urgent. We should finish our food."
"You sure?"
"Yes. I don't want to make you choke on your beef bowl, anyway."
A little snort fell from her girlfriend's lips. "C'mon, I could handle both at the same time. Probably. I'm only iffy about it because I don't wanna get caught and thrown out of my favourite restaurant."
"Really? Because I don't think I could!" They both laughed a little, and Yukiko leaned up to kiss her cheek again. "But if you're sure you don't mind experimenting… we could see what happens."
"Yeah." She nodded to further drive home how serious she was. "Hit me. If I can't handle it, I'll tap out."
"Tap out?"
"Yep! You know, in American wrestling when they're… done with… yeah, no reason you would know that. They tap the mat in a super obvious way to show they give up. So like… I'll do this."
When Chie tapped the edge of her bowl twice with her chopsticks, Yukiko's eyes hyperfocused on the action and she nodded. "Ah, I see! Yes, I will definitely understand that action's meaning now."
"It's not that serious," she muttered. But then Yukiko was petting the inside of her thigh again, and all she could do was grunt to keep from moaning. "O-ohhhh… oh, we're… starting again."
Not just starting. Yukiko's nimble digits were making their way straight to her panties, no waiting. Chie felt her stomach disappear as she anticipated the touch hitting home at last. Any second now…
"YOU."
They both nearly fell off their chairs at the sudden sharp word issued from so close by. Trying not to appear as flustered as they were, the two girls looked up to see a near-flawless face gazing down at them marred by a haughty, annoyed expression. Her blonde-highlighted hair hung around her face in elaborate curls that had obviously taken a long time to fashion, just brushing the lacey pink choker wrapped around her throat — like Chie already wished her hands were, and they had barely begun a conversation.
"Ebihara," Chie breathed as her blood ran cold.
"What?" Ai Ebihara snapped, resting a hand on one hip as she cocked it out to the side. "Can I help you with something?"
"Uhhhhh, you came up to me, dude. What do you want?"
That response made her scoff loudly. "Nothing from some bowl-cut reject. I was talking to the priss."
While Chie was trying to ignore the vein throbbing in her forehead, Yukiko sat up a little straighter and pointed at her own chest. "Me?!"
"God, you're both idiots. There are only two people at this table, so if it's not the bowl cut, guess who it has to be?"
"Hey, watch it," Chie warned her as she leaned an elbow on the table. "Tell us what the hell you want or get out of here."
Scowling at her, Ebihara flipped her hair over her shoulder gracefully before edging into a chair across from them. Which was exactly the opposite of what they wanted; they were kind of in the middle of something! Couldn't she go away and come back another day, much like other black clouds?
"You have something I'm after. Give me that and I'll leave you to your pedestrian food."
Yukiko must have been sensing that her friend was going to stand up and shout at the interrupting annoyance, because she started petting up and down her thigh again. Soothing this time rather than teasing. "And what might I have that you want? I'm sorry, but I truly don't know."
"Narukami," she said without preamble.
"What about Narukami?" Chie asked suspiciously.
"I want him."
The other two girls exchanged a look. Where the hell was this coming from?! "U-uhhh…"
"Don't act so surprised. He's such a tall, mysterious stranger from so far away… practically the only boy at Yasogami who's remotely interesting. And you have been hogging him to yourself long enough. Fork him over."
"Wait, wait," Yukiko giggled nervously, hand flexing on Chie's thigh. She had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from letting out a yelp of surprise. "You don't think… I'm actually dating Yu, do you?"
"I didn't say anything as heavy as 'dating'," she shot back with a roll of her honey-hued eyes. "But I've seen you two together a few times. How you smile at him. It's loathsome, but I can't deny you have an in with him that I do not… yet."
"We're friends, Ai-san. That's all, I promise!"
Her eyes narrowed as Yukiko pet higher. Chie had to fight to stay focused on the conversation. "Hmm. I could almost believe you…"
"Please do. I have no reason to lie to you."
"Very well. Let's say you are being straight with me. How can I turn his little grey-haired head — what's the story with that grey hair, too? Dye job, genetic thing?"
Before this point, Chie had been mostly nodding along, waiting for the tortuous exchange to come to an end. But something going on beneath the table now had her undivided attention. Yukiko had not stopped in her advance. Her fingers were now teasing the insides of her thighs dangerously close to her center as she kept her eyes pointed squarely at Ebihara.
"U-um…" But when their guest turned a glare on her, she shut up.
"Yu seems to really enjoy a lot of things," Yukiko quickly said to draw her attention back.
"A lot of… things." Ai raised an eyebrow at her. "Is that seriously as specific as you can get?"
"N-no, not at all. Maybe… if you could be more specific yourself, I can be more helpful. I don't mind, I'm just not sure exactly what your goal is."
As Ebihara contemplated, Chie found herself wondering the same question about Yukiko. What was her goal?! There was no way they were actually going to test out their friendship's newfound sexual component while sitting across a restaurant table from the prima donna of Yasogami High. Was there?!
"Well, I guess I'm curious why he hasn't asked me out yet," Ebihara said as Aika returned to their table. "Ever since I was made manager of the… I'm sorry, may we help you?"
Blinking at the cold tone, the waitress said, "U-um, I was going to ask the same thing. What can I get you, miss?"
"Nothing from this craphole." But when nobody followed up that statement, and Aika just scowled, she sighed. "Green tea. Unless you do boba here." The wince was enough to communicate they did not, so she sighed and waved her away, "Just regular old tea then, and take your time. I don't eat at places like this."
As poor Aika stomped away, Chie grunted, "You could h-haaaave been nicer to her."
Unfortunately, that near-moan didn't escape Ai's notice. "Your time of the month or something? You look like you're having some wicked cramps."
"Y-yeah," she said, figuring it was the easiest explanation. The girl made a disgusted face but didn't further pursue that line of questioning; all girls understood that one, right? Plus it took the heat off her from Yukiko's fingers gliding slowly up and down along her slit through the all-too-thin fabric of her undergarment.
"Anyway, I think he's really cute, and he irritates me a lot less than the other boys on the team. Plus when he works up a sweat during practice…" For a brief moment, while she was biting her lip and trying not to smile, she almost looked like a normal girl.
"So you have a crush on him," Yukiko said as casually as she could… while still driving her best friend crazy.
"Uh, yes? Hello? What other conclusion could you reach from what I just said?!"
"Of course, of course. Well, why don't you just ask him out instead?"
Ai scoffed and pressed a hand to her chest as if scandalised by the very notion. "ME?! Look at me. I'm stunning, and I work hard to be this stunning. What's the point in doing so if not so that the boys are the ones to fall at my dainty feet?"
Chie had to chance it, even though she was very nearly panting like a dog in heat. The comment was begging for a rebuttal. "I've… never h-heard someone describe their own feet as dainty before."
"Yeah? Well, stay tuned for more originality, courtesy of moi." Even though she was so elegant-looking, it was such a jarring, brutish move when she suddenly slapped her calf on top of the table, making the dinnerware clatter. "LOOK. Look at them."
Yukiko and Chie both blinked down at her now-shoeless foot. It was covered by her white stockings, of course, but it seemed dainty enough in size. So Chie said, "Yep, that's a foot."
"It, um, seems lovely?" Yukiko attempted. As the leg mercifully withdrew before the proprietor of Aiya saw it and was offended at such a rude display, she continued, "I also envy how trim you are, Ai-san. How do you stay in shape? Chie does a lot of sports training and martial arts."
"Mostly diet," she told them smugly as she pulled out a compact and preened slightly. Chie wondered idly how anyone could be so self-absorbed. "And a little time on my elliptical at home every evening. Gotta burn those calories. What about you?"
Caught off guard by the question being turned around on her, Yukiko smiled demurely as she went back to teasing Chie harder. Her throat constricted to cut off a very genuine moan. "Oh, nothing in particular. Portion control. Though my duties at Amagi Inn do tend to keep me very active."
"Really? I can't believe that — you're way too perfect for that to be the whole story. What is it, kale? Juice cleanses? Do you…"
For a little while, Chie lost track of the conversation. Her entire focus was on those fingers playing over her growing wetness. Luckily the diner was full of pungent, savoury aromas or she would really have been in trouble — no way she wasn't stinking up the place with the scent of her arousal by now. All she wanted was to drag Yukiko off to the bathroom for a glorious finish, but she wasn't sure she would be able to stand just now. Besides, it would be the only move even more conspicuous than what they were already doing.
"...definitely working," Ebihara was finally relenting when she refocused, trying to block out the urges to moan and roll her hips by distracting herself. "But yeah, loan me that when you get the chance."
"Of course." Yukiko only occasionally glanced at Chie, to make sure she wasn't distressed or angry. And since Chie was trying to look politely interested in the conversation, it never showed how intolerable this whole situation was for her, so she went right back to petting and chatting. "And as I said, I don't know what sort of perfume he prefers, but anything should be fine. But knowing Yu, I don't think he would care about the brand if you name-dropped."
Ai's brow furrowed slightly as she tapped the surface of the table. Meanwhile, Chie was doing the same with one of her legs, jiggling it up and down in an attempt to abate the feelings assaulting her. In fact, it made them worse… but even after realising that, she couldn't seem to stop. She needed to get off now.
"Well, he certainly does look at me like he likes what he sees. What the hell's his problem? What more do I have to do?"
"It's probably a courage problem," Yukiko told her — while pressing two fingertips harder against Chie's clit. Which was throbbing so hard it didn't even present a challenge for her to find through the panties. "He hasn't worked up enough to ask someone as pretty as you out yet. Give him time, or make your own interest more obvious, since you said you didn't want to ask him yourself."
Ebihara tapped her chin. "You know, even though you're just a townie, I think you have a point. I won't outright ask him, but I could flirt a little. I'm just used to the boys making all the moves on me."
"A-ah…"
"Hm? Something wrong, Satonaka?"
"N-nah," Chie tried to cover. In reality, she had been unable to suppress that moan when Yukiko's fingers inadvertently tensed upon being called 'just a townie'. Despite the reason, it had felt too good against her greedy flesh. "Still my… red tide. Mm, what would you do? To flirt."
Looking at her a little funny, Ebihara shrugged. "I don't know. That's not really my thing; I prefer to have them chasing me. But I guess I've thought about it before, just in theory."
"So, u-um, try out some lines. Maybe we can tell you if they're- nhh… if they're too cheesy."
"Fine. Guess there's no reason not to." While Chie's hips began to squirm back and forth, the orgasm so close now, Ai preened at her hair a little more before leaning her elbows on the table and resting her chin on her folded hands. "Hey there. What's a nice guy like you doing on a crummy team like this?"
"I don't think that's very kind," Yukiko put in — while circling her best friend's clit harder than ever. "Try not to put down the team, he might take offense."
"But they really are a crummy team. Well, except for Kou-chan…" Her expression flickered, and it almost looked a bit wounded for a moment — before she recomposed herself into the usual arrogance. "Okay, you're probably right. Let me try something else."
"Please," Chie begged. Though it was actually for release and not another flirtation demonstration.
"Wow. You just made yourself my guinea pig, Bowl Cut." Chie wanted to be mad…
But an instant later, Ai's hands were delicately taking up the one of hers that was resting on top of the table. Her eyes softened as she looked up into Chie's, slightly wetted lips parting as her throat worked to swallow, as if nervous.
"I know… I haven't been the manager for very long, but… I really like seeing you every day. And you're so strong, and athletic… not to mention easy on the eyes. I wouldn't mind spending a little more time with you, okay? One on one."
"Really?" Chie half-panted, just barely able to keep from making it completely obvious what was happening under the table. "One on one, h-huh? What for?"
Anyone would have been able to tell Ebihara was fighting down some variety of "Are you stupid?" response. But after the brief flicker of ire, she leaned further forward, showing a slight glimpse of her collarbone beneath her school uniform, the very top of her cleavage. Her eyes were sparkling, lips parted even more as she began to heave for breath. Chie responded in kind… because she couldn't stop herself from letting the desire show through anymore. Even if it wasn't actually desire for the person in front of her, at least it came across like she was playacting for the sake of aiding their classmate.
"To make all your wildest dreams come true. Listen…" One hand still holding Chie's, she let the other one raise up to graze well-manicured fingernails up and down along the inside of her forearm. Goosebumps raced over her skin. "I've been thinking about this for a long time, and…" She feigned being shy, biting her lip and looking away.
"And?" Chie prompted hastily, riding the edge as Yukiko sped up her efforts. A quick glance over showed she was curious to see what might happen next.
Looking back up, the normally snooty girl leaned so close their noses were almost touching, voice dipping down into a husky whisper. "And I want… you to be my first. Will you claim my body?"
Well damn.
This orgasm was the hardest yet, and it bowled over Chie with such a force she had no way to prepare. A moan started to burble up past her lips, and had just barely begun when she belatedly realised that even though her entire mind was consumed with the taboo of this activity, with the sheer potency of the climax itself, she still had to keep the whole diner from figuring out what they were doing. What a nightmare, what an impossible situation!
Which she made worse, because in her Cro-magnon brain's efforts to stop the noise, it sought the easiest avenue possible when there was a set of pouty lips a mere inch away from her own.
"MM!" Ai grunted when she felt the kiss begin, the hand holding Chie's clamping down hard so that her nails bit into the skin of her palm. But when Chie grasped it back just as hard, she sort of… melted. Just for a few seconds, they were really kissing each other while Chie's climax made her hips roll against the punishing fingers, milking that moment for all it was worth.
Then Ai drew back and smacked her across the face.
"OW!" she yelped, completely shocked. "Wh-what-"
"EXCUSE YOU!" she gasped out, cheeks flaming red now despite her furious expression. "This was supposed to be acting, not with… with actual… th-that was too far!"
Though Yukiko looked quite thoughtful, she still put in, "Actors kiss all the time. Even in school plays. I think she was just really into the scene."
"Y-yeah," said a dazed Chie, brain too foggy from orgasm afterglow and the stunning blow to her face to say much more.
"W-well, I… I didn't say we could do that, so it was very rude to do it without asking!" The prissy girl pushed her hand into her mouth. "GOD, I kissed a girl and I didn't even hate it — I'm a yuri. At least she didn't steal my first kiss! Then I would be really mad, you don't even know!"
"She didn't?" Yukiko asked curiously, even while smirking playfully at the flustered Chie. Apparently, they would be talking about this at great length later. "Who was your first kiss?"
"Some boy I- oh, nevermind! Screw you two perverts, you're crazy!" She hastily got up from the table, then stumbled a little before sitting back down. "UGH! And if I didn't take off my shoe earlier, I could have stormed out of here and looked much cooler! DAMN it, I'm having the worst day!"

11. Waiting P.1
“Philemon seems to enjoy seeing his Wild Cards live on with their lives…”
insp.
Persona 4 Golden X FeMC!Reader
4/25/MON-Evening | Dojima Residence
"Do you even know what you're doing?"
You pay no heed to the incorporeal being as you scored the meat with the knife. The residence doesn't have a lot of cook books, probably because of Dojima's absence and Nanako's proficiency based on eggs, so you decided to wing this recipe and hope for the best.
It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't for the being criticizing the ingredients and your methods.
"This meat isn't full. I've seen pork plumper than this."
"What is this sauce? Why does it taste so sweet?"
"What is this metal contraption that produces fire?"
The grip on your knife only worsened and you were thankful that your hands were free of marinade. The sounds of the TV droned on, reminding you that Nanako is there, sitting attentively and listening to her surroundings.
With a sigh through your nose, you placed the lunch inside the box in an ordered fashion. The ginger pork on the steamed rice was placed in a way the sauce wouldn't be marred as diced spring onions were sprinkled nicely on the pork. In two cup dividers were cherry tomatoes and leftover potato salad. It wasn't like the tonkatsu that you made before but you feel like you've perfected this recipe.
"Success...!" You congratulated yourself. The dish turned out perfectly!
Izanami hummed beside you, looking over at the lunch. "It looks... Adequate."
You let out a tired groan, something that was noticed by Nanako as she began to question what was wrong.
4/26/TUE-Lunchtime | Classroom
Once the teacher dismissed the class for lunch, you sighed as you patted yourself on the back once more for answering for your friends. It was definitely more painful to have Jiraiya and Tomoe argue over the class's heads as Izanami tried to diffuse the situation. It would've been comical if it wasn't for the fact that you had to focus on the lesson and maintain your grades.
You took out your lunch from your bag and looked around. Yosuke was chatting with one of his friends, Chie was busy trying to discreetly teach Tomoe the basic ethics of today. Maybe you should invite one of them for lunch.
A small shriek broke your trail of thought. You turned your head to see Chie cupping her face in her hands as Tomoe tilted her head to the side. From behind you, Jiraiya laughed at the girl's embarrassment as Yosuke groaned at all three of them.
You remember Kou and Akane from music club and you wondered if they were available.
4/28/THU-After School | Chinese Diner Aiya
You remember going to this restaurant with Daisuke yesterday to talk about Kou and ever since, you’ve wanted to try the Rainy Day Mega Beef Bowl Challenge.
The diner was bustling as usual, the exception were the sounds of defeat of people who fell victim to the 3,000 Yen toll and with the few who triumphed over the well-seasoned meat and pounds of rice. Beside you, sitting on a stool, was Izanami, who watched the old man behind the counter yell orders above the noise.
“Chinese...” Izanami started. “I’ve forgotten the taste of baos that my husband would get me.”
You raised your eyebrow. “You have a husband?”
She nodded, though it seemed like she was unsure. “I... think so. I remember somebody whom I was close to...”
You racked your brain on your Shinto beliefs. With the spare time you had, you picked up the myths about the gods since it seemed important to know who was your partner. Before you could say something, a waiter slammed a giant bowl in front of you.
The legendary beef bowl definitely lived up to its name. The mounds of beef seemed to be endless, the mouth-watering seasoned meat suddenly made you sick. And then you remembered that there was rice underneath the protein hell pile.
You and Izanami blinked owlishly at the beef bowl, the noises in and out of the diner droned to a silent static as you seem to cower at the sight of the king of beef bowls.
This feat will be remembered through eternity.
“Izanami,” you whispered to her as you picked up your chopsticks, “make sure this lives on in the history books.”
You didn’t need to look at her to see her nod solemnly. “You will be remembered as a hero.”
You could feel the dread that the beef bowl gives but it doesn’t stop you from separating your sticks and thank the Aiya for this challenge.
> ...
“The beef bowl...” Izanami gasped. “It feels as though it’s taunting you!”
Her words fell deaf as your stomach bulged from the meat. That’s right. Just meat. You couldn’t even make it to the rice as the mountain of meat defeated your over-confidence. Still, despite the grueling defeat, you seemed to have a deeper understanding on how the beef bowl seems to be, the strategy to win the challenge has been embedded in your knowledge, and your diligence paid off to skim off most of the meat.
“Aiyaaa!” The owner drawled out. “Looks like you failed the challenge! Too bad. That’ll be 3,000 Yen.”
You scowled at the man then the beef bowl. At least the materials you sold to Daidara covered your expenses.
4/29/FRI-Evening | Dojima Residence
“Due to the weekend rainfall, clear skies seem unlikely in the area.”
The reporter continued with the weather as you watched it intently. Izanami sat beside you, Nanako opposite of you in front of the table as Dojima relaxed on the couch. A steaming mug of hot chocolate was in your hands, as you refused to eat anything since you were still full from the beef bowl. You were proud to say that you’ve reached a bit of rice as you felt your stats increase.
“A thick fog is expected tonight and remain until tomorrow morning, with heaviest concentration in the Inaba area. Anyone planning to go out tonight should take care. Now for our hourly weather breakdown...”
“More fog, huh...?” Dojima sighed. “There’s been a lot of that lately. Hopefully it’s not a sign of more trouble.”
You didn’t even need to turn around to see his eyes droop in exhaustion. You focused back on the TV only to notice Nanako holding the remote in her hands and switching the channel.
“Ah-ah-ah.” Dojima tutted. “What did I say about changing the channel without asking?”
Before she could even respond, the TV droned about Junes and it being open for Golden Week. Immediately, Nanako perked up at the commercial, singing the theme song as she seemed excited about the establishment.
Izanami chuckled at her enthusiasm. “She’s so precious.”
“Dad!” Nanako exclaimed. “They’re going to be open during Golden Week!”
He laughed a little. “I heard. Do you want to go somewhere during the long holiday?”
Nanako’s eyes widened as she stood up “We can go somewhere?!”
He smiled at his daughter’s enthusiasm, then turned his head to you. “How about it? Got any plans yet?”
You took a cursory glance at Izanami as she nodded her head eagerly. You nodded at the man. “No plans yet.”
“Then let’s all go together somewhere!” Nanako cheered. “Junes! Junes Junes Junes!”
You giggled at her. You haven’t seen her this happy at all lately.
However, Dojima sighed. “You’re sure you want to go Junes? We can go there anytime...”
“Let her have her fun.” You said. “Not like we can spend all Golden Week in the store.”
“Alright alright...” He relented. “Anyway, time for bed. It’s late.”
Nanako’s smile was wiped off her face when she heard that, but she immediately sprung back to life by singing the Junes theme song.
After Nanako went to bed as you bade Dojima a good night, you changed into your pajamas and went up to your room. You pulled back the curtain and looked out the window. The fog rolled in, making you barely see anything.
“The fog settled in fast.” Izanami remarked. “I know we saved Yukiko but I wonder about what will show tonight.”
You drew back the curtain, staring at the TV with a nervous expression. “Probably nothing, but we can’t be too sure.”
You sat back down on the sofa next to Izanami, heaving out a sigh at the events that happened in the castle. “Yukiko is coming back to school tomorrow so we can ask her about how she even got in there.”
Izanami watched your relaxed expression, turning her head to the TV, then turning her head back to you. “What do you think of what her Persona will be?”
You shrugged lazily. “I don’t know, but I do know that we have to show her the ropes when we have free time.”
“You don’t have to stress yourself over this.” She said softly. “There’s always time for that, you’re still young after all. There’s no shame in backing down.”
You stared at Izanami’s yellow eyes, wondering where that caring attitude came from. You... really don’t know how to respond to that.
Before you could even reply something, the TV turned on by itself. The static noises permeated the room but the screen showed nothing. Then, the TV went silent.
“Well, guess that’s that.” You said, standing up from your sitting position. You, frankly, didn’t want to talk more about the awkward self-care so you dragged yourself to your already made futon and lied down. “Night, Izanami.”
Your Persona didn’t even try to bring back the previous conversation, which you were thankful for. She sighed before settling herself on the sofa. “Night, _____.”
Persona Time
| Amagi Inn |
In the personal room of Yukiko inside the Amagi Inn, the 2nd-year girl stirred in her futon before opening her eyes to the sunlight. She let out a tired groan, feeling like her body went on a triathlon but her mind went through the bar exam. All that training didn’t seem to prepare her for the soreness in her muscles and she didn’t even do anything in the television except watch as her friends get burned.
“I should apologize for causing so much trouble...” She murmured to herself, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
“O-Oh!” A meek voice gasped in surprise. “Y-You’re awake! Thank g-goodness!”
The voice immediately made Yukiko’s eyes snap open as she sat up and whipped her head to the source of the voice. When her eyes landed on a whole mess of pink, she stiffened.

“Oh dear...” The Persona muttered as she watched her master faint and fall asleep again on her futon.

tii Oh shit OH SHIT. Wild Cards v Nyarlathotep!! LEGO!
Thieves in Inaba Part 97
The Wild Cards stare down Deathbringer with unshaking determination. Sho lets out a mocking laugh.
“Give up? Hell no! This shit’s just getting fun.”
Nyarlathotep nods. “Very well then. Become one with the sea!”
The five go after the Crawling Darkenss, splitting up in different directions as they try their hardest to overwhelm thier oppenent. Ren and Akechi firing off shot after shot as Sho and Yu swipe at him.
But their attacks do next to nothing, even when Minato tries to join in to strike it just isn’t enough.
“The hell?! We should be kicking your ass right now!” Sho yells in frustration, diving to strike once more only to be knocked aside by a hard scythe swing.
“Your power comes from your relations, sever those and you’re as helpless as your captured comrades. It is a flaw in the way your gifts were bestowed.” Nyarlathotep states.
“It’s no flaw…” Yu objects, going in to exchange strikes with the god. “All humans…no…all living beings on earth benefit from the bonds they form. Whatever is put into the relationship is also taken out.”
“Whatever the reason for meeting, or to what end…living beings depend on one another for survival.” Akechi adds. “I tried to distance myself from those bonds, and as a result I never felt like I was alive.”
“And it doesn’t matter how the hell you get it either!” Sho adds, summoning Tsukuyomi. “Fighting, or just lame ass talking. Whatever you do, it’s gonna happen.”
“Even in dire circumstances like this, we are not alone.” Minato summons Orpheus. “We still have one another, and even if the bond is still growing..it’s strong enough to overcome you.”
“You shoulda killed us when you had the chance, dumbass.” Ren laughs, summoning Arsene. “Hey Akechi, remember what you did on the arc?”
“Are you sure you want me to do that? It’s extremely risky.”
“I’ll take any risk at this point.” Yu states. “Whatever you’re planning I agree with it. IZANAGI!”
Akechi sighs and nods. “If you have enough faith in me, then very well. LOKI!”
“What foolishness are you planning now? Whatever it is, it won’t work.”
“Oh I’m sure it will work just fine.” Akechi smirk. “Do it.”
Red shadowy mist envleoops the five, as they all smirk. Nyarlathotep is taken aback a bit.
“So you choose to loose any bit of sanity you have in a futal attempt to defeat me? Very well then.”
“DIE!”
The five charge at Nyarlathotep, exchanging blow after blow in rapid succession. No more talk, no more words at all they all are dead set on winning this.
They manage to knock the scythe out of his hands with a collective strike, as it clatters to the ground the Arcana cages start to break open one by one.
Yu kicks it far away with Izanagi going to destroy it before going straight to impaling the god, which is followed quickly by the rest.
As the others are freed slolwy, the thieves look at the five with horror.
“That light…” Yusuke remarks. “It’s the same light that enveloped Akechi back on the Arc.”
With the bonds being freed slowly, the power from the five is restored with each freed person.
“He’s still struggling though..” Yosuke points out. “We should help them, but…is it even safe to approach in that state?”
Futaba shakes her head, “They might attack us. All we can do, is keep any would be shadows away from them.”
Nyarlathotep kicks them off, shadow mist bleeding from him immensely.
“Still moving, even with that.” Haru remarks, holding her hand to her chest.
“Just die already.” Ren states, as Arsene casts Egaon,
The hooded figure attempts to doge the oncoming strike, but can’t. Maou has regained control of the body.
“Humans will prevail, Nyarlathotep. I’ll see to it that they do!”
“DAMN YOU!”
With one last collective strike from the five, their weapons sink into the chest of the god as black mist shoots out from all sides.
And it all goes…to white.
They find themselves, in the Velvet Room as a very pleased Igor claps.
“Very well done. I see our faith has yet to be misguided.”
They look around, but notice that Minato’s blade is still stuck in Maou’s chest. With Minato unmoving.
“Why isn’t he movin’ toothpick nose?” Sho asks, leaning over to poke him only for Akechi to pull his arm away.
“His time with you, is limited.” Theodore states, opening up the Grimore as Elizabeth looks down. “Do you recall Nyarlathotep’s mention of…the Fall?”
“Yeah, wasn’t it some sort of world ending event?” Ren asks, arms crossed.
“Correct, Trickster.” Lavenza nods. “Minato…is the seal that prevents such an event.”
“But, that means he can’t be with his friends right?” Yu asks, a bit saddened. “It’s not fair for anyone to have to deal with this. Especially when Mitsuru and the others finally got to see him again!”
From within another space, Minato finds himself in a white void…with two figures standing before him. Ryoji…and Maou.
“So…we managed to push them away…right?” He asks, sadness in his voice.
Ryoji nods, sharing his friend’s sadness. “Yeah. That means…it’s time to go back.”
Maou walks up to them, shaking his head. “It’s not right.”
“What do you mean? This burden was placed on me ever since that day, I’ve come to accept it as the way life was heading for me.” Minato states, but while he tries to be convening his tone is anything but certain.
“I can see it in your eyes. You wish to stay with them. Your friends, new and old.” Maou is stern as he speaks this.
“…you might be right. I abandoned my friends once before. And now that I have even more…it just means it’ll hurt worse to leave them. But what can be done about it?”
“….I can take your place. Temporally.”  Maou offers.
Ryoji looks skeptical. “How do you plan to do that? You don’t have the same strength of will to hold out Eurbirs long enough for him to pass on naturally.”
“He granted me a lot…when we worked together. My soul holds a lot more strength then it did. I am, of course,  speaking to the both of you right before the bridge to the Sea of Souls after all.”
“But why would you even take my place? Weren’t you trying to kill us not but a while ago?” Minato looks him in the eyes.
“That…is why I wish to do this. To repent for all that my selfish desires brought upon your loved ones…and the rest of the world.”
Minato is silent. If he agrees, he can finally be with his friends, his family.
“What’s your choice going to be Minato?” Ryoji asks.
“I accept.” He smirks at Maou.
“Thank you…for allowing me to this…” He bows before he walks off with Ryoji…vanishing before the white area around Minato becomes blinding.

/I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE, THANK GOD. They should really improve how best bros are treated because it causes me blood pressure. (Especially Yosuke - just... ATLUS if you tried something you failed miserably.)
Agree; they treat them so badly... Like I hate how hostile Yukari is in P3 and PQ1 towards Junpei. It’s the main reason why I’m not exactly fond of her even though I know she’s a good character... Sure Junpei can be slightly unbearable at times but I don’t see the reason to be hostile towards him?
I REALLY hate the scene in P5 after Shido’s palace collapse where the P5 girls beat Ryuji up and leave him when HE RISKED HIS LIFE TO GET THE BOAT SO THEY COULD ESPACE... SURE THAT’S GREAT PAYMENT... SHOWS HOW GRATEFUL AND GOOD FRIENDS YOU ARE.
Ugghhh... I think I would be less offended if one of them slap him (then hug him)? Because I can see that being realistic even if it would still left a bad taste? But it would be rather better then the girls beating him up and ditching him.
My god... Yosuke... Atlus does really treat him poorly... He does his best and yet everyone picks on him... Which I reminded you; are his insecurities... It doesn’t help that he feels lonely because he is the son of a store manager thus people are hostile towards him (their business being affected by the store) or people want to use him for his position...
They all really deserve better and Atlus needs to stop treating like butt-monkey.

Phan Cam: The Festival of Our Dreams
WARNING: This post may be a bit long. Also, there’s a chance some posts may not show on time.
>The stage for the Dream Festival was all set up and ready. The idols were doing some last minute rehearsals before the first concert. Dream FES will last six days from Monday to Saturday this year. The first event takes place tonight on Monday which will be like any other concert. The finale takes place on Saturday where the competition to see which Rookie Idols, Skull included, will get to become True Idols and possibly record a CD takes place with the idols finishing it with a huge show stopper.
Tumblr media
Okay, so I stand here and I announce the groups when they come out. I think I got it.
Tumblr media
Good. Now when you announce them, don’t hold back, give it as much energy as you can so the audience can feel it.
MC: I’ll do just that.
Worker: Hey, they stylist is calling for one last check!
MC: Coming!
>The MC leaves. Haruto also goes back stage.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
God, this is just so great! We’re gonna blow this place tonight!
Tumblr media
Calm down, Ryuji, I’m just as excited as you are.
Skull: I know. But this isn’t like all the other times I performed with you guys. This is the big time.
Tumblr media
The real big time.
Tumblr media
I’m glad to see you’re hyped for this. Now we know the songs we’ll be performing?
Yuto: First, we perform OVER THE SEVEN SEAS. Then, Treasured Hearts. And we finish off with Whole New World.
Skull: I like that choice. Though I wish I coulda written another song before all this.
Keigo: This year’s Dream FES is a week long to correspond with the End of Summer. You’ll have another chance soon.
??????: I hope so.
>They turn to see DearDream and Haruto come in.
Keigo: What brings you here?
Tumblr media
We wanted to wish you luck... Or is it “break a leg”?
Tumblr media
Either way, we hope you’ll do well.
Keigo: Thanks.
Yuto: What songs are you performing for Dream FES?
Tumblr media
We’re starting with Dream Pulse. Next, we’ll do Up to speed!. And finally, GO TOMORROW!!!!!
Tumblr media
I’ve added something new to our finale.
Skull: Really? You added something new to that last song?
Tumblr media
Actually, he’s talking about the finale where both our groups perform.
Haruto: Actually. it’ll be three this year.
Tumblr media
For real!? There’s more this year!?
Haruto: (smiling) You’re Ryuji Sakamoto, am I right? KUROFUNE’s newest member.
Skull: It’s a part-time job, actually. But I hope to work full if I can.
Haruto: I see. Well, this year, ANSwer will be joining you.
Kanade: So Asuma san, Chikage san, and Eiji san will be singing with us?
Haruto: That’s what the producers said. Letting one of the newer idol groups perform with two of the legendary idol groups, especially with KUROFUNE’s newest idol would gather more people.
Shin: That sounds a little... Big.
Haruto: That’s business. But don’t worry. I know you can do it. I’ve seen you do more impossible things than I can count.
Kanade: No doubt.
Haruto: So, can I count on you to do this?
KUROFUNE and DearDream: Yes!
Haruto: That’s the spirit. Well, see you tonight.
>With that, he leaves... And we come in.
Tumblr media
Sounds like a big job.
Skull: I’m sure we can pull it off. With all of us here.
Keigo: That’s right. By the way, I like your concert outfits.
Tumblr media
Thanks, my mom helped me put them together.
Keigo: God bless you, Katherine sama.
Tumblr media
Wait until the Wednesday event, will have something really great on.
Chizuru: I’m already looking forward to it. By the way, how’s Suzui san? I hear she’s taking part in the Stride Tournament.
Panther: She’s doing fine. I’ll tell her you wish her luck.
Chizuru: And don’t forget to tell her that we love her.
Tumblr media
That’s a little too much for her to take, but okay.
Tumblr media
But thanks for wishing her luck, though.
>Then, Peter, Harry, Gwen, Miles, Anya, Aleksei, Randy, and Liz arrive. Also with them are John Jameson, Flash Thompson, even Alistaire Smythe, and three new faces: A young man with glasses, a chubby boy in a school uniform, and a young woman in a sweater.
Tumblr media
You made it!
Tumblr media
It wasn’t easy, we almost lost our luggage.
Tumblr media
Only because one of us didn’t exactly packed light.
Tumblr media
Well excuse me if this is my first trip overseas!
Tumblr media
You should have just taken my advice and only packed what you really needed. Me? My football’s all I need.
Tumblr media
So, you didn’t pack anything else? No clothes, just your ball and the clothes you already have on?
Flash: ... Okay, maybe there’s more than a ball that I need.
Tumblr media
If he’s stayin’ with me and Harry, I draw the line at lendin’ my clothes to him.
Tumblr media
Relax, Ryuji, I made arrangements at the Wilton Hotel.
Tumblr media
Good. I don’t think any of the places our Japanese friends stay are wheelchair accessible.
Tumblr media
Actually, my apartment has an elevator.
Tumblr media
Yeah, we saw it the last time we were here.
Tumblr media
So, how excited are you that you’ll be doing this?
Skull: I’m a little nervous, but everyone’s here, so I’m okay.
Tumblr media
Speaking of everyone, aren’t you going to introduce us?
Peter: Right. Everyone, these are some of the friends I talked about. This is Kamala Khan.
Kamala: It’s nice to meet you.
Tumblr media
(outfit altered to avoid being flagged) It’s nice to meet you, too, Kamala chan.
Harry: Ollie Osnick, he was a student at Oz Academy.
Tumblr media
Actually, I’m already acquainted with Ryuji san.
Skull: Really? How so?
Ollie: ... It’s complicated.
Peter: And last, but far from least, Grady Scraps.
Tumblr media
It’s nice to meet you. お会いできて光栄です。
Tumblr media
名誉は私たちのものです。
Grady: Sorry about the uniform. It was in such a hurry, this was the only thing I could get on.
Tumblr media
It’s alright, Grady, we’re here until the 24. We have plenty of time to shop for new threads.
Grady: That’s good to hear.
Chizuru: Then might I suggest Peace Parade. Sheep Heavenly is good, too.
Tumblr media
For real!? Idol Brands can be bought as well?
Keigo: Normally, it isn’t. But remember, even though they are used in the Dream FES System, the clothes are still made by designers and they use our concert to promote their clothes.
Panther: It’s true. Mom does it sometimes, too.
Fox: I see... I wonder if I should feature my art in a concert.
Tumblr media
Maybe on Wednesday. I know they'll love it, Yusuke.
Tumblr media
And that’s why I love you, Ren.
>We both smile.
Tumblr media
They’re the same as always. Even though we just saw them not that long ago.
Queen: Anyway, now to introduce ourselves.
>We introduce ourselves. Even Yuto, Keigo, and even DearDream introduced themselves.
Ollie: Nice to meet you all. But it seems you’re missing a couple of people.
Queen: Diego and Mishima are already in the crowd. We’ll be meeting up with them soon.
Skull: I just wish Axel and the others could be here, but they went back to Landmark City. I’m sure we’ll see ‘em again soon.
Oracle: Me, too. I’ve heard of this guy called Garrett and I really hope I’d meet him.
Worker: (coming in) Hey, the concert starts in a few minuets. You guys better get ready. (leaves)
Joker: Well, we’ll see on later on. Have a great show.
Tumblr media
Enjoy the show!
>We leave.
>In the crowd, we meet up with Diego, Admin, Shiho Suzui, Boss, Sae, Mrs. Sakamoto, and even our councilor, Takuto Maruki.
Tumblr media
About time you got here. This place is getting hyped up and packed.
Tumblr media
(sorry if she’s still wearing her old uniform) He’s right, a lot of people showed up this year. Look over there.
>She pointed and we saw that Japanese fencer, Kagami Tsurugi, was here with French teen model, Adrien Agreste.
Panther: Are they here as a couple?
Shiho: I doubt it. They brought their friends.
>She is right, there are seven more teenagers with them... Two of which I recognized, but I won’t say more on it.
Tumblr media
Not just them. Look there.
>He pointed to who is unmistakable the “Super High Schooler”, Moyuru Koda, and his teammate/boyfriend, Junichi Kotoba. They’re holding each other really tight.
Tumblr media
It looks like we have some royal visitors, too.
>She was right. Not too far from where we were are the Royal Family of Attilan with their fellow Inhumans, Inferno, Iso, Haechi, and Flint Jaycen. (We’ll just call him Jaycen because we already know a Flint.) Not too far from them is King T’Challa of Wakanda, aka Black Panther. And next to him is Thor Odinson of Asgard.
Tumblr media
I see a few other celebrities, too.
>I look around. I also see Hifumi is here. I also spot Rise, Yu, Yosuke Nanako, a man who I can assume is her father, and Teddie. I don’t think they notice me. With them is model/actress, Yukari Takeba. Not too far from them is the American author, Phoebe Halliwell and her husband, Coop. They were in deep conversation with... A young dark-skin man with pink dread locks who was accompanied by another dark-skin young man with brown cornrows, a young man with facial hair and glasses, a young man with long blonde hair, and, was was unmistakably, a brown and blue mecha.
Tumblr media
This is getting too much. How’d I get dragged into this, anyway?
Oracle: (smirking) Because you just can’t say no to a face like this.
Boss: Heh! Maybe.
?????: Maybe you’re just getting soft.
>We turn to the newcomer... We were shocked.
Tumblr media
What the hell are you doing here?
Tumblr media
Are you saying it’s wrong to visit family once in a while?
Crow: Says the man who abandoned me and my mother in our hour of need.
Shido: That’s all water under the bridge now. Let bygones be bygones...
Tumblr media
Besides, I happened to be a fan of Sankishi. Is that alright with you?
Crow: ... Just behave yourself, alright?
Shido: Like a church mouse. (sits quietly on his seat... Next to Crow)
Tumblr media
This is going to be a long week.
?????: No kidding.
>Then, another comes in... You’ve got to be kidding.
Tumblr media
I never pegged you to be someone who like theses events.
Tumblr media
Now do we have to be such a downer? ... By the way, how do you like my anime look?
Tumblr media
Seriously? What is it with older men and anime?
Stark: Just dressing for the occasion.
???: Actually, I kind of agree with her.
>Then, four new faces join in.
Tumblr media
But at least your beard looks good.
Stark: That’s something, I guess.
Tumblr media
Still, I guess it’s a slight improvement from your last two anime forms.
Tumblr media
I’ve never seen that, so I can’t judge.
Tumblr media
Eh, he’s still the same, either way.
Stark: (in defeat) Let’s just enjoy the show.
Mrs. Sakamoto: (whisper) It’s nice of you to come, by the way.
Energetic boy: (also whispering) Thanks.
Tumblr media
?
>Then, the lights dimmed and the crowd starts cheering louder. The lights on the stage come on. The MC comes on stage.
MC: HELLO, TOKYO! WELCOME TO THE DREAM FESTIVAL 2019!
>The audience was hyped.
MC: Now before we begin, I first would like you all to give a big warm welcome to some famous people in the crowd tonight. Let’s give them a hand!
>The crowd cheered for all the people the others mentioned. Although, I’ve noticed that the Inhumans got little while Black Panther and Thor got a lot... Man, they’re cruel to them, they’re just like us... Only with power and slightly different appearances. Koda mostly got cheers from the girls while Rise and Yukari got cheers from the guys.
MC: And now, with out further ado, let’s welcome our first act for the night. The legendary idol group with a million cheers in one night, our very own Sankishi!
>The crowd cheered loud for the first idol group.
Tumblr media
Haruto: Good evening, everyone! How are you?
>The crowd cheered.
Susa: That’s music to our ears. And we know that we’ll be music to your ears.
Ichika: Let our voices reach to you, tonight. Your hearts will glow for us.
Haruto: And we will glow for you. Let’s soar to our future.
Sankishi: TOGETHER!
Dorika Time!
Shido: I believe this one should suffice.
Tumblr media
Crow: How... Fitting for you.
>We load our wands and launch the cards into the stage.
Catch Your Cheers!
Haruto: I shall wear your cheers with honor!
Catch Your Cheers!
Susa: My heart goes out to all of you!
Catch Your Cheers!
Ichika: The songs we sing shall be the pride of tonight!
Tumblr media
(sorry for the chop job)
White Orchid Series! Complete!
>Sankishi begin their performance. The audience and us really enjoyed... But we know what we’re really looking forward to, but Sankishi is good, too.
>After some time, Sankishi finished their songs.
Haruto: Thank you all! I hope you enjoy the next group as much as you enjoyed us!
>They leave and the MC comes back.
MC: I’m so sure they will, Haruto san. Now for your next group. They were practically born for this show. Heck, they’re basically named after it. Give up for the idol group that puts the Dream back in Dream FES! DearDream!
>Everyone cheered.
Kanade: Before we begin, we would like to give a big thank you to Moyuru Koda, who is a big fan of ours, for coming here.
Tumblr media
If you can really live up to your group’s name, I’ll really be hyped for the finale on Friday.
Junya: Then I guess we shouldn’t disappoint now, should we?
>The crow gave a little laugh. Then, I notice Koda is holding his arms and chest. I use my Third Eye to take a closer look at what he’ saying to Junichi.
Tumblr media
It’s alright. We took all the precautions. I don’t think it’s going to happen here.
Koda: I know... I’m just worried. After what happened at that party... What I almost did to you.
Junichi: It wasn’t your fault. No one could predict that would happen.
Koda: Oh yeah? ... Tell that to your missing leg. You nearly lost your place on the team.
Junichi: But I didn’t give up... And you shouldn’t either.
Koda: Normally I would side with the winning team. I always saw you as that... But I realize, it never really was about winning or losing.
Junichi: And what’s that?
Koda: ... If I knew that, I would own the world.
>The two young men smiled in joy.
DearDream: Alright then, let’s being our show!
Dorika Time!
Junichi: If their first song is Dream Pulse, I think this one will work.
Tumblr media
Koda: (smiling) Yeah, I think so, too.
>They loaded their cards and launched away.
Catch Your Cheers!
Kanade: Thank you so much!
Catch Your Cheers!
Shin: Thank you for your support!

Junya: Your cheers will light up!

>DearDream performs their song, Dream Pulse. The audience really applauded when they finished.
>Meanwhile, with T’Challa and Thor.
Tumblr media
I am still unfamiliar with this. Do all Japanese idols transform like that?
Tumblr media
According to Stark, only those who work for this production company. Though I still wish I knew how.
Tumblr media
(who couldn’t help but overhear) No one really knows. It’s one of Japan’s greatest mysteries. Although, I’ve heard the System works on the dreams of the idols and the people who go watch them... But that’s just one theory.
Thor: I see... I think.
King T’Challa: (looking through the Dorika) Let’s see. I was told when they first performed Up to speed!, they used this.
Tumblr media
Iso: The original Candy Block Coord. That should be good.
Thor: Yes. Very elder school.
Iso: That’s old school.
Thor: What’s the difference?
Tumblr media
Can you hurry up, Iso? They’re about to start up again.
Iso: Right.
Dorika Time!
Catch Your Cheers!
Kanade: Let’s get things up to speed! ... Okay, not a good job, but still.
>DearDream change their clothes.

>DearDream performs their song, Up to speed!.
>Meanwhile, with the Investigation Team.
Tumblr media
I brought the snacks!
Tumblr media
Thanks, Yosuke senpai.
Tumblr media
Yes, thank you.
Tumblr media
Yes, thank you.
Tumblr media
I don’t think you need to copy that.
Tumblr media
Just be careful, Yosuke, that looks like more than you can carry.
Yosuke: Sorry, Dojima san, I guess I didn’t expect a certain bear to order so many.
Teddie: (shocked) Now that’s just rude!
Yosuke: But you’re the one who- WHOA!
>Yosuke tripped.
Koda: (who noticed) Hold it!
>As if he were as fast as the wind, Koda quickly catches Yosuke and all the snacks before they hit the ground.
Koda: Your friend is right, you have way too many snacks here.
Yosuke: (a bit surprised) R- Right!
Teddie: (pouting) So mean.
Rise: (also surprised) Wow, you caught my senpai so quickly. No wonder you’re the Super High Schooler.
Koda: (helping Yosuke back on his feet) Thanks.
Nanako: (amazed) You’re the Super High Schooler? Wow. Actually, my big bro is a bit of a super high schooler himself.
Koda: ... (laughs) I doubt it. I have something he probably will never have.
Yu: And what’s that?
Koda: ... If I told you, they would kick me out of the tack team.
>The Investigation Team just stares in wonder. Koda begins to make his way back to Junichi when he suddenly felt like he was being watched. He turns... Phoebe Halliwell and the young man she was talking to were watching him. he quickly turns, pretending not to notice, and returns to Junichi.
>With them.
Tumblr media
(using comic appearances to avoid getting in trouble) You saw it, too, didn’t you?
Tumblr media
No doubt. So he’s really... That sucks. He’s boyfriend will probably be disappointed.
Tumblr media
Hold on, Kaz, I don’t think we should act just yet. He hasn’t done anything, so I think we’re safe for now.
Kaz: Hope you’re right.
Tumblr media
(sorry, this is the only picture I could find) Be patient, sir. We’ll have our chance.
Kaz: Right.
Tumblr media
Yo, Kaz, they’re about to start.
Tumblr media
We thought it over and we thought this should be used for GO TOMORROW!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s no Gucci, but I think this is just as fabulous.
Kaz: Right.

Tumblr media
Looks like you guys have a favorite group.
Tumblr media
Maybe.
Tumblr media
Just a little.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Fine, a lot. But only because we can sense the heart in their songs.
Tumblr media
As can I. If they were like us, we would definitely wish to bring them back with us.
Tumblr media
*bark*
Iso: It’s one of the few things that makes us no different... Music.
Haechi: You might get your chance.
Kanade: Thank you for tonight’s cheers! Be sure to give that same love to KUROFUNE!
>With that, DearDream leaves and the MC arrives.
MC: For our next group, they have sailed through the trail and hardships, but have made it all they here tonight. They even recently picked up a new member. Ladies and gentlemen, weigh anchor and raise your colors for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze: KUROFUNE!
>As KUROFUNE gets on stage, the crowd cheered a lot. Me and my friends were cheering the loudest. I also notice the Investigation Team cheering really loud, too... I hope Skull gets the win on Saturday.
Yuto: The time has come to set sail to dreams ahead!

>KUROFUNE begin their song, OVER THE SEVEN SEAS. We were cheering loudly for them.
Skull: (after finishing the song) This next song is a song I wrote. I would like to dedicate to my friends and family who supported me all this time. Especially, Ren Amamiya, Goro Akechi, Peter Parker, and Harry Osborn.
Tumblr media
Thanks so much for everything you’ve done! I love you all!
Tumblr media
We love you, too, brother!
Tumblr media
We know you can do it, Ryuji!
Peter: You and KUROFUNE can do it! Together!
Harry: This is your dream! Go for it!

>After they finished, a Wakandan guard comes to us.
Wakandan guard: My king and his fellow Avenger wish to speak to those Ryuji Sakamoto spoke of.
Tumblr media
Really? They wishes to speak to us?
Wakandan guard: I also have been asked by Lady Crystal that Chloe, Kamala, and Makoto of the Future Avengers come as well.
Makoto: Only Bruno comes.
Bruno: (in defeat) Please don’t drag me into this.
Peter: Well, we should at least see what they have to say.
>We make our way to the VIP Seats where the royals were waiting for us.
Tumblr media
Hello, Future Avengers and Web Warriors and friends.
Chloe: Hey, Triton.
Triton: We will be speaking with Chloe, Kamala, Makoto, and Bruno. King T’Challa and Thor will speak with the rest of you.
Peter: Alright.
Chloe: Tell them I’ll speak to them later.
>Me, Crow, Peter, and Harry go over to King T’Challa and Thor.
Thor: You are friends of Ryuji Sakamoto?
Joker: Yes, we are.
Peter: We support him in his dreams and what he does.
Thor: Yes. I know you two as Spider-Man and Stealth Spider, so I can say that you have made many great friends.
King T’Challa: That is true.
Crow: Is that all you just wanted to do?
King T’Challa: Maybe. I have heard a great deal about you, Goro Akechi, the Detective Prince. And your father.
Crow: What about him?
Thor: We know that Inhuman reside here in Japan as well. But they mysteriously disappeared... After the sudden appearances of psychotic breakdowns and mental shutdowns.
Tumblr media
...
King T’Challa: But now that’s passed thanks to the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. After some time, Japan’s Inhumans are slowly resurfacing.
Joker: Yes, we know. Some of them are even at our school. But we have no problems with that. They’re not doing anything wrong.
Tumblr media
They make Japan feel like we’re part of something bigger.
Thor: That is true... However, there is one thing that troubles us.
Crow: What’s that?
King T’Challa: ... Actually, it can wait until after the show.
Harry: You’re right. This is Ryuji’s show. Let’s not spoil it. We’ll talk later.
>We return to our seats. Chloe stays behind to talk to King T’Challa and Thor.
Stark: So what did they have to say?
Bruno: We’ll tell you later. Right now, KUROFUNE is about to sing their last song for the evening.
Adi: (nods) I searched the deck and I think I know just the cards to use for this song.
Tumblr media
Crow: I think that will be just perfect.

>With the Investigation Team.
Tumblr media
(Can’t believe I didn’t get to talk when we came to the scene with Kida.) That song was great. It’s definitely nothing like the Disney one... Actually, they’re both good.
Nanako: I want to vote them to win the competition.
Rise: Well technically, KUROFUNE already won in a previous Dream FES. They’re not Rookie Idols anymore. Except for Ryuji, so I guess we can vote for him.
Nanako: Then I’ll vote for him.
Yu: That’s good of you, Nanako.
Teddie: Yes. Beary good.
Rise: If he ever makes it, I so want to help him with his CD. Yosuke senpai, you help, too.
Yosuke: (a little confused) Why me?
Rise: Well, you always have headphones on. Maybe you can lend a hand.
Yosuke: (groans) As if I have nothing better to do. And I have a relative who’s an idol, too.
>With us.
Tumblr media
Way to go, KUROFUNE!
Adi: I agree!
Mrs. Sakamoto: I love you, Ryu kun!
Tumblr media
(Does she have to shout out my pet name?)
Keigo: Thank you! And we hope you will share that love with Ryuji san and vote for him for the competition!
>The whole audience really cheered as the MC comes back on.
MC: I’m sure they will, Keigo san. And good luck to you... Ryu kun.
Tumblr media
(trying to walk off stage quietly) (Keep it together. Keep it together.)
MC: And now, for our last group of the evening. They help with the most difficult questions in your life No matter what, they are the ones you are searching for. (Mostly because they were voted for that name.) Ladies and gentlemen, give a big hand for ANSwer!
Tumblr media
Akiomi Inamasu: Good evening, Tokyo!
Nanao Hidaka: We may be last, but we’re really not the last!
Souji Kibino: Yes.
ANSwer: Now let’s get to it!
(Since they’re a minor group in Dream Festival, we’ll be skipping their song. Sorry, guys. Maybe if they make a third series.)
MC: Weren’t they spectacular? Make you wish they really were the answer, then every student would pass their test.
>Everyone laughs a little and the joke as they applauded.
MC: Well, that’s it for tonight. When we come back on Wednesday, we’ll be having our Open Mike Nite. Anyone wishing to perform doing whatever show they wish to put on, good luck to you all! And remember... If you wish to use the System, you have to sign in and pay the fee in advance before Wednesday. If you haven’t, you have to pay double.
>All the idols join the MC on stage.
Haruto: The Open Mike Nite is here to remind us that you are just as important to us as we are important to you.
Kanade: You have just as much talent as we do. If not in singing or dancing, then in other ways. No matter what.
Yuto: We wish only good luck to you for showing us just how well you do what you do. Not in competition, just for fun.
Akiomi Inamasu: So let’s see what you can do that night. So until then...
Idols: Our goal is the Dream Festival! Dream FES is about to start!
>Everyone in the audience, including us, cheer happily.
>In the dressing room, we, including, the Investigation Team, Tony Stark, and the Future Avengers, came back to congratulate KUROFUNE for their performance.
Flash: That! Was! AWESOME! ... Though it will never be as cool as Spidey.
Peter: Aw, thanks, Flash.
Flash: (unimpressed) Don’t push it, Parker.
Tumblr media
What Mr. Thompson is trying to say is, you guys did well tonight.
Keigo: Thank you, Makoto chan.
Makoto: That’s gonna be tough. My name is like hers.
Queen: I don’t mind being called Mako chan if that’s alright with Haru.
Noir: It should be fine.
Mrs. Sakamoto: Ryu kun, I’m so proud of your performance.
Skull: Thanks, Mom. (And enough with the Ryu kun, already.)
Rise: Just keep it up and might win that CD debut.
Skull: Yeah. I’m lookin’ forward to it.
Yu: We’ll be supporting you all the way.
Yuto You have good friends, Ryuji san. Be happy with that.
Tumblr media
You know it.
Oracle: This calls for a celebration!
Tumblr media
After-party at Leblanc! Sojiro, let’s get a turkey.
Tumblr media
Now hold it! I don’t think it’s big enough to fit us all.
Oracle: In that case...
Tumblr media
Let’s pull our funds and get some sushi!
Diego: (really happy) I can get on board with that.
Fox: That could be hard. I’m low on cash at the moment.
Skull: Let me guess, art supplies?
Tumblr media
Pretty much.
Harry: I’m rich. I can get the sushi.
Stark: I better pitch in, too. I still remember from what happened the last time I had some.
Bruno: I doubt you’ll be attacked this time.
Tumblr media
I’m not going to ask what that means.
>We begin to make our way to the exit. I notice that the dressing room used by Sankishi. I hear voices in there. I couldn’t help buy listen.
Randy: Hey, Ren, you coming?
Joker: ... My shoelace came undone. You go, I’ll catch up.
Flash: Alright, but hurry up. I really want to taste that sushi.
Diego: I want some sushi, too... But I’ll stay behind and help.
>With that, the rest of the groups leaves while me and Diego stay.
Diego: What’s up, Joker?
Joker: I thought I heard something in Sankishi’s dressing room. I’m very suspicious.
Diego: Alright. I’ll see what I can do.
>Diego changes back to Morgana form and sneaks into the room. I access his collar cam with my phone... I was a little shocked.
Shido: Is that any way to talk to an old friend? Or even a fan?
Haruto: We’re not friends. But we still accept you as a fan.
Susa: And after knowing your secret, I doubt we’ll be friends now.
Ichika: Sorry. Guess stuff like this just happens.
Shido: I merely come here to congratulate you, and this is how you treat me? ... After everything I’ve done for D-Four?
Haruto: Tch! Don’t remind us. I’m surprised we’re still going after what happened with the Phantom Thieves... And what you did to your son?
>Shido, his face full of fury, bashes his fist against a mirror, shattering it.
Tumblr media
Listen and listen well, you fucking, ungrateful fools! If it weren’t for me, D-Four Productions and you would have lost everything. The three of you would be out of a job. Your little proteges would be out of a job...
Tumblr media
So I suggest you be a little more nicer.
Haruto: (looking down) ...
>Morgana returns to me and changes back to Diego. Just then, Shido walks out and notices us.
Tumblr media
Can I help you two?
Tumblr media
Well...
Shido: (staring at me) You look... familiar.
?????: I see you’ve met my new intern.
>I look up to see Tony Stark and Yuto coming up.
Shido: (unconvinced) Really? I don’t see someone like you hiring someone like him, Stark. What is this about?
Stark: (firm) It’s exactly as I said. Now if you don’t mind, I was about to treat my intern and his friend to sushi. So if you’re not too busy, you’re welcome to join us.
Shido: ... I’m due back at the Wilton. See you on Wednesday.
>With that, he leaves.
Yuto: We better go. Everyone’s waiting.
>So, we leave.
Tumblr media
>The sushi restaurant in Ginza. While everyone partied, Stark and Yuto spirited me and Diego to a stall.
Yuto: How much did you hear?
Joker: A lot. What was that about?
Yuto: As most people probably don’t know, but there was a time D-Four Productions almost ceased to exist.
Diego: (a bit surprised) Really? What happened?
Yuto: ... Calystegia.
Joker: The song by Kanamin Kitchen originally written by deceased idol, Yuko Osada?
Yuto: Yes.When they sang it at the Love Meets Bonds Festival, their popularity skyrocketed... And they totally forgot about the Dream Festival. Only about 250 people showed up.
Diego: That’s harsh.
Yuto: With everyone so focused on Kanamin Kitchen, who works for Takura Productions, sales for D-Four were dropping. If that kept going on, many idol groups would have to be let go. Sankishi included. Even Amuse, Lantis and Bandai Namco, the companies that birthed D-Four, would have severed their ties with them to avoid being dragged down. Then, they would have filed for bankruptcy and their only salvation is to be bought out. Mostly likely their competitor, Takura Productions, or an overseas company, like Apollon Media.
Joker: Why would Apollon be interested in the Dream Festival?
Yuto: I don’t know. And I don’t care to find out. Anyway, Masayoshi Shido, who was already a major and well believed politician and a big fan of Sankishi, bailed them out by raising their popularity back up by showing his support. As a result, the next Dream Festival... The same Dream Festival KUROFUNE and DearDream first appeared, was a huge success.
Diego: So you owe him?
Yuto: Well, that’s what Shido thought. After his heart was changed by yo- The Phantom Thieves, our deal with him was over... But D-Four itself wasn’t.
Stark: Yeah, you’re welcome.
Tumblr media
You helped them, Mr. Stark?
Stark: I got curious about why Shido loved Sankishi. So I listened to their songs... And I truly understood why they are famous for the night of a million cheers... That, and I was curious how the Dream FES System worked. Or even where it came from. So, I bought D-Four Productions. Now they’re members of the Stark International Family and those other companies didn’t have to sever their ties.
Diego: That’s quite generous of you, Mr. Stark.
Stark: Yeah, well, I still want to know more about the System... Maybe another time. Anyway, I wouldn’t worry about Shido now. But just to be sure, we’ll keep an eye on him.
Yuto: And Ren, Diego, about what we just told you...
Diego: It’s our little secret.
Yuto: (happy) Thank you.
Joker: And than you for keeping D-Four open, Mr. Stark. It means a lot to Ryuji.
Stark: You can thank me by not calling me Mr. Stark. Just call me Tony.
Joker: I don’t think we can do that.
Stark: Why not?
Tumblr media
For starters, we already know a CEO named Tony.
Stark: I see... But for the record, I’m a way better Tony than that skate punk.
>I smile a bit. And we rejoin the others.

Please imagine me just delivering these on a platter to ur sickbed: akira, minako, ochako, iida, (tries to think of a marvel comic person) uhh flash
thank you, thank you. who needs cough medicine when you have shipping.
(edit: i’m 99% healthy. it took me that long to finish this mess.)
AKIRA: okay, i think i remember telling you how i was pretty chill with akira ships. like, if done right, i don’t mind any of them, except for futaba (because they’re siblings, fu). besides our collective issues with atlus and their inability to not be weird when it comes to the girls. also, i feel like what makes the p5 kids feel the most like actual friends is also what makes it harder for me to fully invest in any individual dynamic - they all meet throughout the course of the game (even ann and ryuji aren’t close friends beforehand, and there’s definitely no drama between them) and they help each other heal and get past their abusers so that they can have a fresh start and feel free to be normal teenagers. so there’s little to actually grab onto when searching for….anything layered? like, compared to the p3 kids who have so much inner turmoil that they take out on each other - or the p4 kids, who can’t be completely truthful to themselves or each other. the p5 kids do have baggage, but not with each other. which makes for healthier bonds but also more boring ship dynamics lmao. all very cute and fluffy, but not a lot of substance.
point is, i don’t really have much to say? like akira/yusuke is fun and silly. akira is eccentric and cool enough to go along with yusuke’s antics, and even though p5 always gives us an option to be mean, i can’t imagine akira ACTUALLY thinking that kind of stuff? like, he’s a weirdo too so he just. gets it. yusuke basically takes akira out on dates during his social link. they lend themselves well to model/artist headcanons and aus. they don’t realize they’re dating until a few months into their relationship - one of the others had to point it out and yusuke’s like ‘oh? is that what this is??’ and akira’s like ‘thank god’ bc he was too awkward to bring it up himself. futaba makes fun of them a lot.
akira and ryuji are cute too. i’ve gotten a bit fond of the boner squad (br)ot3 too. just ann/ryuji/akira being dumbasses. or ann/shiho+ryuji/akira being dumbasses while going on double dates. there’s also not really much to it - just the usual persona teen boy ‘no-homo-bromo-but-it’s-actually-homo’ fare. ryuji’s less possessive and repressed about it than yosuke is, though. which is good (ie more healthy) bc it’s more like akira found himself a human puppy jock boyfriend, and it’s cute! ryuji instantly decided he liked akira and started planning their secret handshake and selecting their cool delinquent hangout spot. and akira just smiles through it all bc he’s charmed. morgana gives akira the most judgemental stare ever when he finds out though.
i like akira/haru bc she’s who i dated in my playthrough. they’re soft and sweet and i think a slow relationship built on patience is good for both of them. and they have the most obvious phantom thief couple aesthetic, tbh. they also have the ‘demure wallflower by day, trigger-happy hellion by night’ thing going on. i love the idea of them opening up a coffee place together (their futures align! this is the SO that sojiro approves the fastest lbr!) and akira being haru’s trophy husband (let this man be someone’s trophy husband).
akira/goro’s the one with the most depth lmao as our boy akechi gets the short end of the stick re: what everyone else got - to defeat their abuser and come out the other side a new and improved person. INSTEAD, it’s all about deep-rooted envy and what-ifs. when i replayed p5 for my friend’s benefit, she kept being like ‘wow ok akechi’s got….the most obvious crush on mc. why is he always here? why does he talk like that? omg?’ and my sentiments exactly. AKIRA’S thoughts exactly, tbh, bc what else is he supposed to get out of some of the things that come out of goro’s mouth. but it’s like….he DOES like akira, but he also resents his existence because akira gets to have real bonds and happiness despite the crappy hand dealt to him. and their own bond is based on careful lies and observing each other for any cracks in their armour. but there’s that undertone of wishing that they’d met in other circumstances, where they COULD have a normal relationship and get to know each other in a way that’s not ‘we levelled up our relationship when you shot me in the face with the intent of murdering me and framing me for my own death but really, i tricked you and you didn’t actually kill me & now we can defeat you and your dad! ha! checkmate!!’ but i love that that’s actually part of the dynamic so lmao.
MINAKO: you know, despite minako and minato being considerably different (both their external personality/appearances > emo boy/preppy girl  - and the changes in their dialogue choices > again, minako is a lot more confrontational and energetic), i pretty much just ship them with the same people?
the only exceptions of this being i ship minako with shinjiro and yukari but can’t really fathom either of them with minato. (it’s bc yukari is a lesbian and shinji does not deal well with sullen people. like, what’s he supposed to do? pat minato on the back?)
i will also warn that it’s been….forever since p3 so i’m kinda fuzzy on details.
anywhoooooo, AIGIS. main protag ship is aigis. idc which protag, but i must give atlus my once-in-a-blue-moon compliment because they kept aigis’ social link and her blatantly romantic feelings for the protag the exact same in portable. so minako/aigis is just as canon as minato/aigis, buahaha. anyway. robot girlfriend who starts off being somehow programmed to feel protective/indebted to minako but then starts developing real genuine feelings as she explores her humanity, minako wanting to show aigis how to enjoy herself while putting the emphasis on aigis’ feelings and opinions but also being so amazed and grateful for aigis’ love and attention. also, the difference between protags here being that while minato is silently intimate, minako is loudly loving. the utter tragedy that is aigis not being able to save the person she cares about, the imagery of minako’s head in her lap while they wait for the end is….A Lot. i think in a lot of tragic robot/human romance fiction, the robot gives up its life for their human partner so i like the reverse here - with aigis having to experience the emotions of loss and depression and overcoming that because she truly loved mina(k/t)o and now they’re gone. it’s heavy! it’s a lot! i just remembered i never finished the p3 movies! i should do that!
there’s ryouji. again, don’t care which protag - just like the idea of our mc flirting with death. literally flirting with the avatar of death. the double sides of the ship: goofy teenage flirting vs warning of impending doom. ryouji just being like ‘yeah just kill me it’s for the best i’m actually here to destroy the world or w/e’ to his gf (or bf) out of nowhere on christmas eve lmao. it’s fun, idk.
yukari! honestly, taking out all the forced hetero ship teasing made me ship her with minako more lmao their social link was just better! no offense! and their personalities mesh better too - i feel like yukari would get way too frustrated with a closed-off partner and i love concept of: the huffy takes-no-shits girl being soft for her cheerful outgoing gf. also, i spent way too long imagining the answer with minako - the aigis/minako/yukari would be heartwrenching and we deserve it.
shinjiro! can i start off by saying it’s a good thing shinji was in p3, which did the best job of showing the characters apart from the protagonist and main plot (prob bc on the other hand, it did the worst job with social links seeing as none of the guys had them) - i feel like in p4 or p5, we wouldn’t have gotten to know him nearly as well before he died. anyway, his social link with minako is really sweet and a romance between them hits my ‘tsundere/flustered boy not knowing how to deal with affection from pretty girl he respects a lot’ checkpoints. and i need to talk about this: i feel like the decision to make him comatose instead of dead if you romance him was a double edged sword disguised as a blessing lol. because he was still DYING before he got shot, and also he wakes up just in time to find out his girlfriend died! fhdhfgdjd!
                      —————————————————————–
uraraka……okay: i ship her with tsuyu, bakugou, iida, mina and toga.
oh, here’s a story. before i got into bnha, i stumbled on a bunch of deku/uraraka amvs and they were so precious. like, really, deku and ochako are the cutest goddamn things in this series. seeing them side by side makes me want to channel my inner grandmother and pinch their cheeks. it was, like, the only thing i knew about bnha at first, so i just figured i’d end up shipping it whenever i eventually got to watching it bc i’m easy to please like that. but ha. nah. it’s sad bc i love their dynamic when it’s focusing on their actual friendship but then the actual romantic hints made me want to roll my eyes so hard. it’s so BORING if you take it at face-value, and i’m so boggled by it if you look deeper bc i don’t understand what hori’s planning here. it’s irritating bc even uraraka admits that her borderline obsession (and that’s what it is, since it’s compared to TOGA’S CRUSHES…y’know, our resident yandere serial killer?) is detrimental to her growth as a hero. and i know it’s partially bc she’s a teenager but its blown so out of proportion. it’s a crush!! relax!!! like, compare to deku’s crush on uraraka where after he got over his initial anxiety of talking to girls, he - at most - just blushes a little when she stands too close or dresses extra-cute. every other time, he treats her no differently than any of his other friends. but then uraraka’s crush is treated like. this weirdly twisted admiration she doesn’t even WANT. she relates to a villain’s desire to imitate and become the person they like, she gets ridiculously jealous every time he looks at another girl, she keeps fucking up because she focuses too much on him and how to be like him. it’s weird. idk. typical fiction tropes lead me to believe i’m supposed to root for them to get together (and bnha will end with an epilogue where they have a child named after a food) but the story i’m being told makes me want to root for uraraka to succeed at getting over those feelings! idfk!!!
also, i have to laugh at the way horikoshi decided to tell us and uraraka herself that these feelings were romantic. by having aoyama just be like ‘oh you were thinking what would izuku midoriya do? could it be you love him?’ when we see multiple male friends of deku’s (iida and todo, in particular - hell, even aoyama himself) have similar WWMD thoughts and he, in turn, instantly imitates bakugou whenever he hits a roadblock (taking inspiration from to downright copying bakugou’s moves, trash talking his opponents, etc). am i supposed to see only uraraka’s feelings as romantic? why? because she’s a girl and deku’s a guy?
i like it better when iida’s involved. both iida and uraraka are so sweet and enthusiastic to counter deku’s more nervous personality, and they’re a very good trio! i tend to prefer them as a brot3 but as i said, i do ship iida/uraraka seperately! i don’t have any big reasons for it except i enjoy how contagiously energetic and silly they are around each other? dramatic too - remember the ‘REACH FOR MY HAND’ scene when all the UA students were freaking out? it’s just a simple best friend dynamic like what they have with deku but there’s no weird one-sided jealousy/competitiveness involved (luckily, iida got over it after the stain arc haha). they don’t end up feeling bad or unworthy of the praise they get from the other - which is great, because they’re very complimentary towards each other! iida is so understanding (his immediate reaction to uraraka being self-conscious about her reason for pursuing heroism) & uraraka is usually the one who vocalizes how cool and talented iida is (while also giggling her ass off whenever he gets all extra-dramatic)! tbh, curse their aborted moment after iida’s match with mei! let them praise each other!!! i like that their seats are so close to each other too - i wonder how horikoshi decided on the seating plan. but uraraka’s tendency to shake iida by the shoulders is precious & i bet you he breaks his staunch ‘follow-every-rule’ mentality when it comes to uraraka writing him little notes in class. also, maybe uraraka just deserves a sweet+rich boyfriend. it’s that easy. lmao.
i already talked about bakugou/uraraka. it’s great, dripping with potential, needs more canon interaction. i only trust a portion of its fanbase to do them properly. but this is the case for almost every big ship. (where’s that one fandom meme where one of the questions was like ‘what do you hate seeing in fanfic/content for them’ bc NOW THAT I’M ACTUALLY READING FANFIC AGAIN, LEMME TELL YOU. BEING A MULTISHIPPER IS HARD.)
tsuyu and uraraka are just genuinely a good match? i like the contrast between uraraka - who is emotional and upbeat - and tsuyu - who is calm and rational. but they’re both very perceptive? their first night at the dorms is a good indicator of how their dynamic works. the others are quick to accept that tsuyu doesn’t want to play along with the room competition, but uraraka both provides the excuse and lingers behind with worry. she probably had to convince tsuyu that it was okay for her to vocalize her feelings to the bakugou rescue squad, and volunteered to be with her during said confrontation. compare to the forest where tsuyu sweetly and calmly offers uraraka her hand because she sees her friend is scared, without actually needing to say anything else. they’re sweethearts. i absolutely adore them. oh, and i dig their earth/sky + pink/green aesthetic clash.
uraraka and mina are based on two things: 1) they’re always hugging and hanging out in official art/sketches (mina even has a selfie of them hanging on her wall of pics in her room) so i can only assume they’re super-close gal pals that should kiss, 2) i love shipping silly idiots together and it’s hard to find ships like this that are f/f but these two fit that specific chaotic mold!!! and 3) AESTHETIC DREAM!!! PINK SPACE GIRLS!!!! DO I NEED ANY OTHER REASONS? NO. NO, I DO NOT.
HOLY SHIT, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT’S OFFICIALLY CANON THAT TOGA HAS A ROMANTIC CRUSH ON URARAKA? again, i could write an essay on coding and how frustrating it is for characters like toga to usually be bi/pan. but no one’s claiming this a win for rep. and i’m FASCINATED by this dynamic. toga loves stain-sama for his ideals and how that enables her nature to kill. she loves deku-kun out of curiousity for his ideals and the fact they met when he was beaten to a pulp lmao. and she loves ochako-chan because she sees herself in her - she thinks that they share ideals. again, i have no idea what the long-term meaning for this development is but it’s clearly pitting them against each other? and adding a romantic element to that is hmmmmmmmmm. we’ll see, we’ll see. and like i mentioned above, it’s shocking and worrying and makes me ship uraraka and toga more that uraraka ALSO sees the similarity between her and toga. she’s horrified by the implications of it but she hears toga’s spiel and tries to fruitlessly deny that ‘yeah, she’s right. that’s how i am. we’re the same.’ if i were to ever write a traitor!uraraka fanfic (which i would if i could ever FINISH a writing project), it’d be uraraka/toga and uraraka trying to convince herself she’s better than toga, that she still has a moral code and her reasons for joining the league have more weight to it, and she doesn’t!!! care!!! what toga thinks of her!!! and expecting a rivalry but toga doesn’t meet that head-on because instead, toga wants to be close and connected to uraraka. toga has this kind of mature soft side we’ve seen before (with twice) that shows how she can see you at your core (her fight w/ uraraka also showed that) and i want to see uraraka to be on the end when she thinks she doesn’t deserve it and doesn’t trust toga and just being frustrated and confused over it all.
                        —————————————————————–
iida…….i think deku, todoroki, uraraka and aoyama are my biggest ships for him. also, i don’t ship it myself but momo/iida/todoroki’s rich kid squad is A REALLY FUN DYNAMIC AND OT3.
LET’S BE REAL: IIDA/DEKU IS SO UNDERAPPRECIATED IN THIS FANDOM. ALL IIDA SHIPS ARE BUT….IIDA/DEKU. iida’s goddamn….tucked deku into bed. threw his hat in the ring of rivals. there’s official art of iida giving deku a shoulder ride. he punched him to make him see how his actions are affecting him - “haven’t you thought about how *I* feel [about you putting yourself in peril]?!” like. bro. okaaaay. i still laugh that they got on the wrong foot initially - deku was so scared of iida sjfhhf like he was equally worried he’d be stuck in the same class as iida as he was about kacchan. thankfully, iida’s a sweetheart who cares with all his heart, and he sees all that there is to admire about deku, so they became instant friends after that. and iida means SO MUCH to deku. i pay a lot of attention to how future!deku talks in his narration, because he normally interrupts the narrative to move the story along - by talking about minor time skips, the movement of the villains, etc. but he also tends to wax a bit poetic about his friends. like when he interrupted everything to give us a side-story about how and aoyama became bffs. so we can assume that aoyama’s friendship means a lot to adult izuku. or how comforting and important it is to me that even as an adult, he refuses to stop calling bakugou ‘kacchan’. it’s sweet. in that same vein, it strikes me that deku still holds an amount of guilt for not supporting iida better during the whole ingenium-stain debacle. it ended….much better than it could have, and that experience was what strengthened iida/deku/todo’s relationship. yet as an adult, deku still wishes he could have done more. offered iida the help he needed before he went rushing in. hoo. but anyway, yeah, they’re cute! wholesome nerd boys! cute height difference! also yeah, i’m glad that iida got over his sports-festival-era feelings of inferiority towards deku. deku loves competition, but you can tell that he didn’t want that out of his relationship with iida (compare to how he outright covets a rivalry with bakugou and accepted it from todoroki w/ his head held high). it wasn’t based on healthy feelings and they’re so much better as supportive bfs.
iida and todoroki have a lot of stuff in common as legacy heroes who were trained from childhood to be heroes - with the major difference that todoroki faced horrifying abuse that prevented him from having a close relationship with his siblings and made him want to reject his legacy, while the iidas are good folk and iida’s brother means the world to him and he’s so far one of the only heroes we know to reuse a superhero identity based on legacy. and even the painful bullshit (like the ‘take out your muffler and a new, stronger one will grow in’ thing) was something that iida went through on his own accord and with warning. and todoroki’s words of encouragement during the stain arc were based on his own life lesson! they both come off as very serious and abrasive elites at first glance, but they’re actually dorky and socially awkward! but i think they get each other - i imagine they have a very calming friendship, no need for pretenses and judgement, and they deserve that! they probably think the other is hilarious too even though absolutely no one else gets the joke! they had a lot of cute moments recently since they were paired in the same 1A vs 1B match. like iida can just…tell the minute differences in todoroki’s expression and demeanour apart and knows when there’s something wrong. and they’re just so humble and sweet and can’t handle the other being self-deprecating. they’re good boys, brent.
already talked about iida/uraraka. they’re cute, i love them.
AOYAMA THOUGH. knight boys! they were so good during the exam! it really got me that aoyama didn’t even consider the idea that iida might not abandon him, might want to help him and win together instead of just use him to get ahead himself - and iida didn’t even really get the emotional realization aoyama went through there but he was still like ‘YEAH WE DID GOOD! I’M GLAD YOU FEEL BETTER! THUMBS UP! :D’ they’re both very dramatic and - i don’t know how to describe it….they pose a lot, talk with their limbs. they’re silly, is what i mean. and maybe aoyama ALSO deserves a loving, rich boyfriend. MAYBE IIDA SHOULD BE EVERYONE’S LOVING RICH BOYFRIEND. but in this case, aoyama’s boyfriend who will carry him bridal-style everywhere, much to aoyama’s glee lol. except when he’s dragging him along via his cape. whatever works.
also, side note, i find it kinda interesting that fandom pairs him up with girls like mei and camie - when i just….feel like he’d be so out of his element and sooo overwhelmed? i’m wincing just thinking about it lol poor iida.
                        —————————————————————–
i’m glad you specified marvel bc if you’d just said ‘comic’, i would have assumed you meant THE flash and i would be forced to sit here and think of every dc speedster ship…..well, it wouldn’t be as bad as spidey ships (honestly i’m very basic with speedsters - it’s just like ‘speedster/their spouse’ with the adults (even wally - linda or bust, tbh) and ‘speedster/their best friends’ with the teens), but we’d be here longer.
BUT FLASH THOMPSON? i already mentioned my two big ones, with venom and peter but i’m def willing to talk more about them.
flash/venom, a man and his gooey alien husband. i love that it’s a relationship based on self-growth and healing from past hurt and stopping destructive habits and cycles (both that cause self-harm and harm onto others). one of my favourite panels is still where flash pleads with peter to not let his anger seep into venom because venom’s gotten past all that. he’s a better person (being. alien. thing.) now and doesn’t want to turn to feeding on rage ever again. and that’s true for flash (a victim of child abuse who bottled up all that sadness and rage and took his aggression out on other kids) as well. it’s just so….nice. and venom credits all this to flash. and a thing i find about venom is that its unhealthy dynamics are all about control - you’re just its host, it possesses you against your will, you become an out-of-control villain. but with flash, venom sees a partner and home - they need and belong with each other, they communicate and cooperate, they became a superhero. also i love how they’re seriously affectionate and intimate - that’s just kind of a given with venom, i think, because you have to invite & accept it as part of yourself. but flash is so soft with venom - while he’s not as….hm, vocal about it as eddie ‘ooh my love my darling~’ brock is (he’s also a bit less obsessive haha sorry eddie), he’s so protective and likes giving venom headscratches and kissy faces to the point others react to it like they would witnessing PDA. i just want flash to be all cute and smooch his husband when they’re not like. one singular entity. CAN YOU BELIEVE THE HEALTHIEST DYNAMIC FOR FLASH TO BE IN IS WITH A SYMBIOTIC ALIEN GOO CREATURE? I CAN. AND I’M THANKFUL FOR IT.
i also ot3 them with eddie for the sake of my peace of mind where everyone’s happy. where venom’s not torn between two loves, and eddie doesn’t feel the need to think things like ‘it’s tough being someone’s second best’ and ‘i’d like to think he’d do the same for me but part of me knows that would be a lie. it’ll always be flash.’ and having those thoughts because he literally FEELS that pull towards flash? like he inherited those feelings, he KNOWS what it’s like to love flash thompson. LIKE, YO????? GIVE ME THAT SYMBIOT3.
then there’s flash/peter, the funniest super/civvie id love triangle in the world. flash having the biggest hero crush on spider-man in high school - so many superheroes to choose from but spidey is the best, because he’s an underdog, because he gets pushed down and refuses to give up, because he’s SO GODDAMN COOL - while simultaneously thinking peter is frankly, the worst? but in that terrible way where he fixates on peter even when he’s not part of the conversation. waiting for him to leave school so he can be mean to him, feeling frustrated whenever he tries to be nice to the guy and peter either ignores, rejects or insults him in return. peter just being like ‘Sigh’ whenever flash insults him by gushing about spidey, but that’s also why he can’t dislike flash no matter how bad their relationship is. how can he hate spidey’s biggest fan? and also he probably gets a good amount of pleasure out of flash’s gf liz allen having a crush on him. peter also does this to johnny and his gf, dorrie evans - they’re frienemies in high school and kind of obsessed with each other,,,,’heRE’S MY LIST OF 500 REASONS WHY I HATE THE HUMAN TORCH’ OK PETE RELAX. so yeah, peter, despite having genuine feelings for betty brant, hits on liz and dorrie whenever they cross paths and lets them use him to make their hot blond boyfriends jealous. (peter, maybe you ARE the worst. stop it.) and then when they get to college and end up in the same friend group, flash slowly realizes that peter is like. hot now? and like, kind of a cool dude who went through a lot! like, he thought peter was a jerk in HS but he’s actually really nice when he wants to be and is always in your corner! ‘wow, i really like and respect pete! i’m proud to be his friend!’ flash thinks while staring at peter’s biceps. meanwhile, peter has no idea what’s going on because he keeps expecting flash to turn back into a dick (and steal one of his girlfriends lmao) but instead, he just keeps proving he’s a great guy! and keeps confiding in him! and uh, complimenting him a lot? and still fanboys over spidey and that’s really endearing! and oh, he’s really gonna miss him whenever he’s on tour and the idea of flash dying is unthinkable and he really likes being his roommate and he’s who he wants to be his best man and he doesn’t get why flash doesn’t seem to realize how great he is, and welp, he just punched captain america in the face for not telling him flash was agent venom. anyway, bottom line: i like dynamics that are very….long-term and constantly changing? so i tend to fall for the enemies/rivals to friends to lovers thing. or friends to enemies to lovers. but this is a former situation for sure.
also, i’m convinced every corner of the college crew pentagon happened. flash and harry MUST have at least made out once and neither was sure how to deal with the aftermath of that for a couple of months. he’s kissed and casually dated gwen AND mj - but i find it interesting that it seems like neither girl really ever considered him a contender. gwen cares about him but sees him as a shoulder to vent to about her issues with peter, and mj has a lot of fun with him but also considers him the male version of her (outgoing and bright but unwilling to commit and act serious). and he interestingly backs down quickly when peter decides to make a move on the girls. like, compared to his love triangle with liz and peter where i feel he was pretty resistant to letting her go - especially to someone like puny parker, he responds to peter’s accusations re: gwen and mj with ‘hey, relax. it’s not like that. i wouldn’t do that to you.’ i take it as him growing up and not feeling the need to overcompensate to impress his dad and also maybe the fact that he’s a bit more aware of how closeted he is. but it’s weirdly different with harry (*cough* cause it’s the first dude aside from peter he had any romantic interaction with *cough*) so he just……..dances around those feelings (on top of both of their feelings for peter) until harry starts dating liz (BECAUSE EVERYONE DATES EVERYONE IN PETER’S CIRCLE OF PALS, I GUESS) and he’s just like ‘???????????? well okay then’.
i like his dynamic with felicia as much it also pains me - that felicia went into it thinking she could use flash to hurt peter (’i’ll break your heart like he broke mine!’) but then ended up legitimately falling for him and started hoping for a normal life with him. also that they liked hanging out in terrible workout clothes. nerds. (alas, it didn’t last bc….FLASH, BUD….BUDDY….I CAN’T BELIEVE MARVEL HAD FLASH SAY THAT AND THEN PROBABLY SAT BACK AND THOUGHT ‘YUP PETE’S BEST BUD FLASH IS TOTALLY STR8′) and i need to read more of him and betty to get a handle of that but. what i’ve gotten from the panels i’ve seen that it’s very dependant on the writer and has the same problem flash’s relationships with liz, gwen, mj and felicia had where there’s a lot of love there but the actual romantic element is….lacking? falls short? fizzles out? where he seeks out a connection to peter(/spidey) through his romantic relationship with a woman peter used to be involved with and pushes said woman away when she starts getting in too deep?
anyway, that just turned into an essay about how flash thompson has been gay since his conception and only like, 20% (maybe less) of writers in charge of writing him have actually realized it.

“No, you—Don’t apologize, man.” Yosuke places his hand over the one Souji’s using to fish for his discarded shirt and gives it a squeeze. He groans behind his teeth. “I’m the one that should be sorry; this is the first time you’ve ever had your shirt off around me and all I’ve done so far is act like an ass.”
Chapter 2: I Just Complicate it When I Say Too Much
The shower is running by the time Yosuke makes it back upstairs. It had taken him all of thirty seconds after paying to decide that he really didn’t want to bother setting up in the living room, so, food in hand, he plunks down on the floor in front of Souji’s coffee table. Originally he’d planned on letting Souji shower first while they were waiting; Souji’s showers never take very long, so the food probably would have arrived right as Yosuke was finishing up his own. He likes it when they eat together, since it’s almost like a stay-in date when the setting is right.
Now, though, for obvious reasons, that particular plan has been ever so slightly derailed. He could wait; he’s hit the point of exhaustion where he doesn’t really feel the hunger he knows is there. However, if he waits on Souji, then Souji will wait on him, and Yosuke doesn’t much like the idea of making his boyfriend wait any longer than necessary.
So he starts in on his food and waits for his partner to get out of the shower.
Souji reappears not long after, still shirtless, but dressed in his pajama pants with his sleep shirt tucked into the crook of his elbow as he scruffs a towel over his hair. He carefully seats himself beside Yosuke and offers him a quirk of his lips – a tired, fond smile.
“All yours,” he murmurs, mimicking Yosuke’s earlier words. He reaches out to snag his own bowl of takeout and pull it closer.
Up close, Yosuke can see the binder marks along Souji’s skin. They’re fainter now, still red but not as angry as they were before. A lot of the lesser chafing has all but faded, leaving only pink patches here and there in between the heavier outlines.
Yosuke must take too long to respond, because Souji looks over and catches him staring. He glances away, down at his own torso, and seems to curl inwards out of habit. “Sorry,” he says. He gropes around for the shirt he’d let fall beneath the table and starts to tug it closer.
Souji huffs a laugh. He turns his hand over in Yosuke’s and folds their fingers together, giving a squeeze in return. “A protective ass,” he murmurs, voice teasing. “But I kind of sprung it on you, too.” He sneaks a glance back up at Yosuke from the corner of his eyes. His hand on the table fiddles nervously with his unbroken chopsticks. “Does it bother you?” he whispers. There is a thread of sadness in his tone now, of worry, like he’s still convinced that Yosuke will suddenly find him disgusting. He gestures at the irritation along his shoulder with his free hand, using a chopstick like a pointer. “They’re still tender; the water helped but I’m afraid if I put my shirt on they’ll stick to it.”
Yosuke doesn’t answer with words. Instead, he slowly leans forward until he’s able to properly catch Souji’s eyes. Gently, he raises their clasped hands and brings Souji’s fingers to his lips, brushing them over each one before pressing a quiet kiss to the back of Souji’s hand. “Nothing about you bothers me,” he whispers against his boyfriend’s skin. He watches Souji watching him and lets a soft smile stretch over his features where Souji can see. “I know I’m not doing a great job of showing it, but I’m really glad you took your shirt off.”
Souji looks at him with an expression full of affection and awe, so warm that Yosuke can feel it in his chest like sunlight. Souji is like a sun, but shyer – a guiding star in the darkness – and Yosuke wonders if it’s possible to fall in love with someone he’s already fallen for a hundred times over.
And then, suddenly, that warm expression becomes one of mischief as Souji snerks. It isn’t really a snort, much like all of Souji’s other laughter is never really laughter in the conventional sense; it’s a light, gravely sound in the back of his throat that grows into his usual breathy huff through the hint of his exposed teeth.
“Are you now?” he asks, somehow managing to keep his voice level despite his sniggering. His eyes gleam in a way they haven’t since before the two of them left the tv world, mirthful and happy and it makes Yosuke’s stomach swoop.
Even if he’s being teased for his unintentional innuendo.
He lets out a noise of exasperation – not the first one of the night – and rolls his eyes so hard his head drops back to rest on the couch seat behind him. “Oh ha ha, dude, and here I was feeling all sappy ‘cuz you’re actually comfortable around me.”
Souji ‘snerks’ again and clings to Yosuke’s hand when Yosuke tries to pretend he’s done enough to pull it away. “Sorry,” he says, not sounding it at all. “Couldn’t help it.” He sighs happily and tugs on the hand on his own until Yosuke relents and leans sideways.
Souji rests his head on Yosuke’s shoulder and hums. His breath is warm on Yosuke’s skin, even through the fabric of his shirt. Souji is warm, solid, real; how did Yosuke ever get so lucky? He tilts his head and brushes his lips over Souji’s forehead, earning him another hum in response.
“I knew what you meant, though.”
“Yeah?” Yosuke shifts just enough to be able to search for Souji’s eyes beyond that silvery shimmer of his still-damp hair.
“Yeah.”
They stay that way for a few minutes, taking comfort in each other’s presence. Eventually, though, Yosuke feels Souji’s breathing start to grow shallower and he nudges his boyfriend gently with his shoulder. “Hey, man,” he murmurs, and soft grey slowly blinks up at him through moon-colored lashes. (God, Yosuke is so weak for him.) “You still need to eat and I’m pretty sure I smell like a gym bag, so…”
Souji sits up. He winces slightly as his skin moves, but he makes no outward protest to being disturbed from his spot on Yosuke’s shoulder. Instead, he just rolls his shoulders back – or, at least he tries, but it doesn’t seem to do him much good since he’s obviously trying not to jostle his ribs too much. “Mm,” he agrees, rubbing at his eyes with his free hand. “Yeah. Go ahead.”
He releases Yosuke’s hand and scoots closer to the coffee table, sitting up straighter as he locates both of his forgotten chopsticks.
Yosuke pushes to his feet, legs reminding him that that he, too, had spent several hours fighting shadows. He takes a second to press a kiss to the crown of Souji’s head before picking his way over to his bag to retrieve his sleep clothes. He pauses again just before he steps into the hallway and looks back over to where his boyfriend has finally started poking at his dinner. “You gonna be okay?”
Souji smiles sleepily around the end of his chopsticks and nods.

---
Yosuke takes his time rubbing the water out of his hair, standing in the bathroom in his pajamas with a towel in one hand and his phone in the other. Honestly, Naoto was a godsend – they’d been endlessly helpful after Souji’s dungeon, when Yosuke desperately wanted to learn but was afraid of bombarding Souji while he was still recovering. Naoto was patient, too, which was a bonus when dealing with someone like Yosuke who didn’t mean to be an asshole but was so out of touch he might as well have glued his foot directly to his mouth and called it a day.
He really would have to find a way to thank them somehow. Preferably in the near future.
Tucking the phone into his pocket, Yosuke glances around the bathroom. Lotion will be easy to get his hands on; Souji has a bottle of it over on his desk, probably for situations just like this. (Yosuke frowns at that thought but tucks it away because now is not the time.) Antibacterial medicine is the thing he actually has to go looking for, and despite how awkward he feels poking around in Dojima’s stuff, it’s for a good cause. Squashing that awkwardness, Yosuke digs through the medicine cabinet before finally locating a tube of gel.
He does his best to put everything back the way it was, before finally stepping out of the bathroom and heading back to where his boyfriends waits.
Souji looks up as he enters, giving him a slow upturning of his lips. He sits with his arms crossed over the top of the coffee table, like he’d been resting his head on them before Yosuke walked in. His shirt is still on the floor where Souji left it earlier, the irritation on his skin so faded now that other than the fiercest of the red lines his torso looks almost normal again.
“Hi,” he says sleepily. “I put the leftovers in the fridge already.”
Such a Souji thing to do, Yosuke thinks, returning the smile.
He steps over to the desk and snags the little bottle of lotion before plopping down beside his boyfriend. He presses a gentle kiss to the crest of Souji’s shoulder, earning a happy little hum in return. “How ya feeling?” he murmurs, eyeing the chafe lines closest to him.
Souji shifts. “Better. It’s starting to pull, though.”
“Ribs?”
A quiet huff. “Well I can breathe.” He looks over at Yosuke with fond eyes. “Just feels like I slept wrong now.”
Yosuke sets the tube of antibacterial gel and the bottle of lotion on the table in front of him. “Can I do something?” he asks quietly, pulling back enough so he can watch Souji’s expression.
Souji quirks a brow at the items on the table but doesn’t answer.
Yosuke scratches absently at his cheek. It’s one thing for Souji to be comfortable being shirtless around him; if Souji doesn’t want Yosuke actually touching his skin then that’s a roadblock Yosuke will have to respect. Even if it’s technically for medical purposes.
“I mean,” he tries, searching for a way to ask without being weird. “Are you okay with me touching you? Not—! Not in like, a sexual way, I just…” He gestures helplessly between Souji’s reddened skin and the stuff on the table, hoping it will be clearer than his failed attempt at words.
Luckily, Souji seems to understand, because he slowly nods after a moment of silent deliberation.
Yosuke lets out an exhale of sheer relief. He could probably have coerced Souji into letting him rub gel onto his shoulders but he’s not terribly keen on doing that. Souji’s trust is important to him; he doesn’t even want to chance bending it, let alone break it.
Taking up the gel first, he angles himself so that he’s facing Souji more completely. He unscrews the cap and squeezes a bit onto his finger, rubbing it between them to warm it up a little. “Can I?” he asks softly. He’s already been given permission, technically, but there’s no harm in double-checking.
Souji nods again. He shifts a bit, getting closer and leaning his shoulder in for Yosuke to start with.
Yosuke takes a moment to look at the chafing up close. It’s not as bad as it had initially looked – thank god – and most of the surrounding redness has faded out. All that remains, of note, at least, are the places where the edges of the binder had rubbed Souji’s skin raw to the point of breaking it. Yosuke doesn’t see any actual blood, though, which means that most if not all of the damage is surface-level. Okay. He can handle that. With all the weight of a feather, Yosuke touches his gel-covered fingertips to his partner’s battered skin, just outside the worst of if.
Gingerly, hesitantly, he starts to pat his way along the outline. He keeps his focus on his work but spares a glance upwards now and then to check and see how Souji is doing. Neither of them speaks for the next few minutes; the only sounds are the soft ‘plip plip plip’ of the gel as he carefully works it into Souji’s wounds and the occasional hiss of discomfort in response. When Yosuke finishes with the side he can reach – Souji’s shoulder and back being the worst of it, with only one spot beneath his underarm where the first layer of skin has peeled away – he heaves himself up and moves around to get at Souji’s left.
The left side of Souji’s body is marginally better than his right had been. The marks under his arm are just barely red, thankfully unbroken, and his shoulder has far fewer patches of broken skin than Yosuke had been expecting. The only place that looks as bad as before is along the curve of Souji’s shoulder blade where the binder scraped as Souji pulled his arm across himself to wield his katana. Yosuke bends down and brushes his lips over the unmarked expanse of Souji’s spine. His boyfriend makes a stilted, muffled sound low in his throat.
“Why do you wear it in the tv?” he whispers into his partner’s vertebrae. “Why don’t you just do what Naoto does?” He squeezes another heavy bead of gel onto his fingers and starts the process all over again.
Souji hums. It’s not his usual hum; it’s lower, like an audible frown, and Yosuke can picture the way his boyfriend’s brows draw together “I can’t,” he murmurs after a pause. “The binder’s the only thing I have.”
Yosuke stills. He looks up from the outline he’s been working on and tries to peer around the side of Souji’s face to catch his eyes. “Wait, so… Nothing else?”
Souji’s lips press into a thin, straight line. He stares ahead of him, eyes fixed somewhere on the far wall, and slowly shakes his head.
Yosuke sits back, hands falling away from his partner’s back to rest palms-up on his folded knees. He blinks stupidly at the back of Souji’s head. “Not even like a sports bra or…?”
“No.”
“Do you just not own any?”
“No.”
“Oh.” Yosuke bites down on his lower lip and chews it, nervous. It’s clear he’s hitting on a sore spot here, and he wants to press harder because this is something affecting Souji’s health, but he also recognizes the tightness in his leader’s voice. There isn’t a wall between them yet, but the cinderblocks sit ready, just in case.
He takes a deep breath, then takes the leap. “Why?”
Souji’s body goes rigid – the lines of his back sharpening as he tenses. But then he’s sighing, louder than he usually is, and slumping back down as the tension ebbs away. When he speaks his voice is tired, small, and Yosuke has to lean in a bit to hear him.
“I had a panic attack the last time I tried to go shopping for one.”
Oh. Oh fuck. Yosuke feels his face burning with awkward guilt as everything hits him with crystal clarity. Of course Souji wouldn’t own one; the poor guy couldn’t have just casually gone wandering through the women’s underwear department without getting the worst kind of stares, and even if he could his anxiety would have made it impossible to ask for a fitting room.
He wouldn’t have anyone to buy them for him, either, since it’s not like his parents would ever have bothered to buy him anything, especially clothes. The only other options would have been to come out to a stranger in order to ask for help, or to go shopping dressed as a girl, which… No. No, absolutely not. Yosuke clamps down on that thought before he makes himself sick.
He remembers how pale and empty-eyed Souji had been when Izanagi had revealed himself, remembers how violently Souji had been shaking as his shadow-self descended the stairs with long silver hair and a short uniform skirt.
Never again.
Yosuke sets aside the tube of gel and eases his arms around Souji’s middle, well below the chafing and the aching ribcage. He leans forward and rests his head between his boyfriend’s shoulder blades, careful to avoid any reddened skin or still-drying gel. Before he closes his arms, he whispers, “Is this okay?”
Souji’s reply is to lean back into Yosuke’s embrace and drape one of his own arms over the ones around his waist. “You’re always okay.”
Yosuke laughs softly. “I’m still gonna ask, though.” He gently squeezes his arms – more a twitch than anything – and nuzzles against Souji’s back.
Pressed together like this, Yosuke can feel the vibrations in his partner’s body as Souji hums; they spread through Yosuke’s chest and feel like home.
“It’s appreciated,” Souji says.
Yosuke could stay like this all night. He kind of wants to, but with his face pressed so close to Souji’s damaged skin he can feel that faint traces of heat still lingering in the chafe lines and he knows he still has just a little bit left to do. “Speaking of,” he starts. He waits for Souji to tilt his head back in Yosuke’s direction. “Would it be okay if I gave you a backrub? Or are your ribs too sore for that?”
Souji thinks a moment, gauging. Yosuke can feel the way Souji stretches and tests just how much his torso will let him move. He grunts, just once, and catches on a movement when he tenses too much on one side, but makes no other outward show of pain as he assesses his body. “They’re… tender,” he finally says, voice thoughtful. “I’ll tell you if it’s too much.” As if to further clarify his permission, Souji sits back up and leans across the table once more, leaving Yosuke to miss the feeling of warmth against his chest.
To compensate, and to make everything easier on the both of them, Yosuke tucks a leg up underneath himself and shifts so that he’s directly behind his boyfriend, with Souji positioned between his legs once Yosuke gets settled. It’s so domestic and intimate that Yosuke has to take a moment to remember what he’s doing and not just wrap his arms around Souji’s waist again and press their bodies back together.
He shakes his head to clear it before Souji can start to wonder if something’s up, and reaches past the other boy’s shoulder to snag the lotion bottle off the coffee table. There will be time for cuddling later. A whole lifetime’s worth, if Yosuke has anything to say about it. For now though, back to work.
Just as carefully as he had with the medicine, Yosuke takes a small amount of lotion, warmed between his hands, and starts to swipe it over the parts of Souji’s back that need it most. It’s nothing special, just something to help keep chapped skin from cracking open, but Naoto had said to treat it like a sunburn and Yosuke’s had enough sunburns in his life to know that dry skin peels in horrible ways. Granted, he’s never had the kind of chafing that Souji is dealing with, but he trusts Naoto’s advice.
It doesn’t take long for him to finish up with Souji’s back and sides, gently soothing the lotion into his partner’s skin. He hesitates when he gets to Souji’s front, which he would try to avoid but there’s a bit of irritation on Souji’s collarbones and Yosuke is certain the skin further down is probably in need of attention, too. Luckily, Souji is as observant as ever and holds his hand out wordlessly for the bottle. Yosuke presses a kiss to Souji’s neck in silent thanks and lets his boyfriend tend to his chest on his own.
While Souji is busy with his chest, Yosuke devotes his attention to Souji’s ribs. Slowly, pressing as lightly as he can to start, he uses his lotion-slick hands to smooth across the planes of his partner’s body. He digs his fingertips in when it seems he isn’t causing Souji any pain, pushes in with the heels of his palms when he can feel Souji stiffen under his touch. He doesn’t knead, nor try and undo any knots – there aren’t any, really, not around Souji’s torso – just gently works his hands over aching bones to try and alleviate the worst of it.
At one point he works up the courage to slip his hands around to the place just below the high points of his partner’s chest. He stills, asking for permission with his pause, and Souji gives it in the form of a nod and contented sigh. Yosuke keeps his fingers on safe places; he won’t go further up until Souji is ready.
When he finally moves back up to Souji’s shoulders, that’s when Yosuke finds the knots of stress at their worst. He’s always wondered how much his partner – their leader – really carries on his shoulders, both physical and metaphorical. He’s seen Souji roll his neck in battle and sometimes it seems less of a way to loosen up before a fight and more like a bid to keep his body from locking. The worst is when they’ve been under a time crunch, back before, when their friends and team members had been trapped in their own personal hells with only a few days to save them before the next blanket of choking fog.
Yosuke presses his thumb into a spot just between Souji’s shoulder blades and feels something shift that makes the other boy groan in appreciation.
All that pressure that Souji works under, the weight he carries, and all of it on top of being in an article of clothing that he should never be fighting in, should never wear as long as he does each and every day. Yosuke feels something in his heart twist at the thought of his boyfriend being in physical discomfort, or even pain nearly constantly because of this. And yet Souji has never once complained. Instead, he bottles everything up and lets it sink like a stone until he’s drowning. No wonder Izanagi had seemed so exhausted between his bouts of mania.
And that just leads to another thought that leaves a bitter taste in Yosuke’s mouth. Does Souji even get to relax at home? He’s too polite, too worried about other people’s comfort; it wouldn’t surprise Yosuke if Souji wore his binder right up until it was time to head upstairs for the night so that he didn’t have to be around his family with nothing on under his shirt.
Yosuke is finally pulled from his thoughts by the sound of shallow, even breathing. He blinks, bringing himself back to the present, back to Souji’s bedroom with his boyfriend nestled comfortably between his legs. The sight before him makes his heart stutter in the best of ways.
At some point while Yosuke was absorbed in his musings, hands methodically running patterns along his boyfriend’s back, Souji had slumped forward across the coffee table and laid his head in the crook of his own elbow. His eyes are closed now, and from his spot behind him Yosuke can see the delicate way Souji’s pale eyelashes rest against his cheek, the way the long day has melted from the lines on his face. Souji looks so peaceful in sleep – it’s not something Yosuke gets to see often, but is forever grateful that he’s the one that gets to see it when it does happen. Not all of Souji’s dreams are good, he knows, but for tonight it looks like his partner is somewhere safe inside his head.
Yosuke sighs. He hates to wake his boyfriend up when he looks so serene, but bent over a coffee table is not a good way to sleep; if Souji’s back wasn’t already sore, it sure as hell would be after a night spent like that.
Yosuke carefully hoists himself up – trying to let Souji have a few more minutes of peace before he wakes him – and moves as quietly as possible while getting everything squared away. He pulls the futon out and fluffs up the squashed pillows, plugs in both his and Souji’s phones, switches off the lights. In the morning, he’ll text Rise and Naoto and ask them if they’d please take his partner shopping, since Naoto will know what to look for and Rise can be their foil in case the boy and the gender fluid detective get any strange looks while looking at sports bras. They’ll take care of Souji; Yosuke doesn’t know if there’s anyone he trusts more than their friends.
For now, though, it’s late. There’s no school tomorrow, no work, no tv world. When they wake up they’ll have the house to themselves. There’s nothing to rush them or keep them from sleeping in.
When Yosuke finally manages to wake his sleeping boyfriend and usher him into bed – shirt still in a heap in the floor – Souji is dead asleep again the moment his head hits the pillow. Yosuke, however, keeps his eyes open for a while longer, watching the easy rise and fall of Souji’s chest as he breathes. He slips his arms around Souji’s waist and presses them as close together as he can, so that it’s nearly impossible to tell where one of them ends and the other begins.
He drifts away like this, wrapped protectively around the person his heart has decided to call home, with Souji’s shoulder beneath his lips and a silent promise to help heal him echoing in Yosuke’s head.
He wakes in the morning to the sight of Souji’s smile.

Day 17 - Sports
“Oh man, I haven’t been ice skating in years!” Yosuke said with a huge grin, and that was when Souji knew that his fate was sealed. They were all sitting around the living room of the Dojima household, spending a lazy Sunday afternoon hanging out and trying to make plans for the coming weeks.  Nanako jumped to her feet and ran to where Souji was sitting at the kotatsu, grabbing one of his shoulders and asking, “Can I go too, Big Bro?”
He wanted to respond with something like ‘we haven’t even decided to go yet’ or ‘it’s dangerous, so you’ll have to ask Dojima-san’, but he couldn’t say no to Nanako. He’d never be able to say no to Nanako.
“Sure,” he replied, able to keep the nervousness out of his voice only because of months of training with the drama club. “Just make sure it’s okay with Dojima-san, okay?”
“Yaaaay!” she cheered, running off to go do just that. Everyone else started murmuring excitedly, talking about how they used to go when they were kids, seeing what days everyone was free to go...Rise even started talking excitedly about going to buy a pair of skates for herself. Everyone was excited...except for Souji. But because Souji was normally quiet anyway, nobody really noticed. In the end they decided to go the following Saturday after school let out. The rink was in Okina, set up outside for the winter. It was sure to be packed. Packed full of people that could actually skate, and Souji was sure he was going to spend the entire time clinging to the walls, miserable. But he didn’t want to put a damper on his friends’ plans, and he didn’t want to disappoint Nanako.
Somehow, Nanako got it into her head that Souji was really good at ice skating. She’d apparently been talking to her friends about how she was going to the rink on Saturday, and when one of them asked if she could skate, she responded with “Big Bro will teach me! He’s a really good ice skater!”
He wanted to tell her the truth. He really, really wanted to tell her the truth, but she was smiling up at him with a big, innocent expression on her face. And then Dojima-san said, “I’m sure he is, Nanako. Souji will take good care of you at the rink...won’t he?” And oh man, Dojima-san looked scary.
“Of course!” Souji replied, and Dojima nodded, and the conversation went back to safer topics.
As soon as dinner was over, he called Yosuke in a panic.
He hadn’t really given any thought to who he was going to call for help, actually. He knew Rise was probably the best choice as she had apparently taken actual skating lessons as a kid, but she wasn’t necessarily the safest choice - she’d think it was a date, of course. Yosuke was absolutely the safest choice. He wouldn’t tease Souji about this - well, not much anyway - and he had sounded like he knew what he was doing.
“Hey Partner!” Yosuke greeted as he answered the phone.
“Yosuke, I need your help,” Souji answered, trying not to let his panic bleed through into his voice.
“What’s wrong?” Yosuke asked, immediately on high alert. “Is it Nanako?”
“Everything is fine, don’t worry,” Souji replied, with a little smile. The fact that all of his friends cared so much about Nanako honestly always warmed his heart. “I just...I need you to teach me how to ice skate before Saturday.”
“...huh?” Yosuke replied. Souji could feel his cheeks turning red, but he barreled on through the conversation.
“Nanako thinks I’m really good at ice skating, but I’m actually bad. Really, really bad. The last time I tried it, I couldn’t even bring myself to let go of the wall,”  he admitted.
“...huh,” was Yosuke’s response. “I...I honestly thought you were really good at it. You’re good at everything else.”
“Gotta have an Achilles heel somewhere,” Souji sighed in response. “Look, I don’t want to let her down, so...I’ll pay for the extra admission and everything, but please help me?”
“Of course I will, Partner!” Yosuke exclaimed. Then, after a moment of Souji thanking every god that would listen that he had such a good best friend, he continued. “But I gotta ask, why me? I taught myself how to skate, but Rise took actual lessons, wouldn’t she be a better choice?”
“I can’t ask Rise,” Souji replied. “She’ll think it’s a date.”
“Ah,” Yosuke said. He sounded a little bitter, and Souji honestly hated it. But they’d already talked about this - Souji couldn’t help that Rise had a crush on him, he wasn’t interested in her, maybe Yosuke should try asking her out himself? But Yosuke had just grumbled something about not wanting to be anyone’s second choice.
“Uh, so, can we go to the rink after school tomorrow? If you aren’t working, that is,” Souji continued.
“I’m free,” Yosuke confirmed, and Souji finally let himself sigh in relief. Everything was going to be fine - he was sure Yosuke could teach him. Even if they didn’t get it tomorrow, it was only Tuesday…
By the time Friday rolled around, Souji was really starting to panic.
They’d gone on Wednesday and, well, all they’d accomplished was getting Souji off of the wall. He could skate in a straight line and managed to turn a couple of times, but that was it. He couldn’t stop himself, he wobbled dangerously, and Yosuke was skating backwards and holding his hands for most of the time. They’d gone back on Thursday, too, and only because Yosuke had essentially begged his dad for the day off, citing it as an emergency. He could skate on his own and even do the turns now, but he’d fallen so. many. times. He was nowhere near good enough to teach Nanako to skate - he could barely even keep her from falling over, at this rate.
And so, Souji was doing the unthinkable. Five minutes into homeroom, he passed a note back to Yosuke that read, ‘Let’s skip classes for the day and practice skating.’ He knew Yosuke would do it, because when he’d skipped classes with Ai, Yosuke had said he was really jealous.
“Dude,” Yosuke laughed, as soon as they were past the school gates. “I never thought I’d be skipping classes with Honors Student Souji Seta.”
“I’m doing this for Nanako,” Souji reminded him, voice stern, but Yosuke just laughed.
“Oh man, I’ll bet every girl in school would be jealous of me,” he continued, smirking over at Souji. “Probably some of the guys, too.”
“I’m not that popular,” Souji reprimanded, rolling his eyes.
“All the notes you get in your locker say otherwise,” Yosuke replied. “Anyway, you got a plan to make sure we don’t get kicked out of the rink? We can’t go in our uniforms.”
“I do. We just have to stop by my place first...I hope you don’t mind wearing some of my clothes for a while?” Souji asked. Yosuke just shrugged in response.
“Sure, whatever,” he replied, but if Souji wasn’t mistaking it, he sounded a little weird, and his cheeks were a little red. Huh.
They showed up at the rink just before 11am, managed to fool the bored-looking college student that was manning the rink, and got right to work. They were the only ones there for a solid three hours, and that helped Souji tremendously. Even then they were only joined by one other person, a probably twenty-something girl that kept to herself in one corner of the little rink, practicing some spins and flips.
They made great progress. Yosuke made them take a lot of breaks, which was a little jarring for Souji as that was normally his job. By the time the girl showed up, Yosuke had Souji skating backwards, albeit very awkwardly, while he pushed him around the rink. By late afternoon, Souji had gotten the hang of skating backwards enough that he could do it without Yosuke’s help, though he was still a little worried about turning.
At Souji’s request, they went for a few more laps around the rink until Souji felt like he finally, finally got it. After he went around a curve and didn’t wobble even a little, he looked up at Yosuke with a big, grateful grin. He was going to say ‘thanks’, but the way Yosuke was looking at him caught him totally off-guard. He just looked so...warm, and, and affectionate. He’d never seen Yosuke giving anyone that kind of look before. Had he been looking at Souji liked that this whole time? Souji didn’t know, he’d been giving all of his attention to his feet and the rink, making sure he didn’t trip or bump into anyone or crash into the side of the rink. Now he couldn’t look away, heart pounding in his chest, thoughts whirling at about a thousand miles per hour, and-
“H-hey! Watch out!” Yosuke said, reaching out to him, and Souji realized that he’d done something weird with his feet and started to trip. Yosuke managed to grab his shoulders, but it was too late, so he just ended up going down with him. They ended up in a heap, skidding to a stop on the ice a few feet away, and Souji was thankful that he hadn’t taken off his sweater, electing to push the sleeves up to his elbows instead, because that cushioned a lot of the blow.
“Agh, man, geez, I’m sorry,” Yosuke sputtered, managing to plant his hands onto the ice after a little bit of struggling, pushing himself up and off of Souji. “You okay?”
“I think so,” Souji replied, and then made the mistake of looking up and locking eyes with Yosuke. They both froze, and Souji swore that time ground down to a halt as they looked at each-other. Yosuke blushed, and Souji had never really noticed how cute that was before, how cute Yosuke was, actually, though he knew that the other boy would hate being called cute. He’d hate that Souji was having thoughts like this at all, in fact. He’d definitely hate that Souji kind of wanted Yosuke to kiss him...but even as he thought that, he saw Yosuke look down at his lips, then look back up bashfully, and holy shit he was leaning down, and-
“Are you two alright?” a voice asked, and it startled both of them so much that Yosuke flinched backwards and Souji sat up, knocking Yosuke completely off of him and onto his back.
“Y-yes, ma’am, we’re fine, just a fall! Nothing broken!” Yosuke stammered, hands over his face.
“Thank you for your concern,” Souji said, voice a little calmer than Yosuke’s, but not by much. She gave them both a scrutinizing look.
“I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything,” she said.
“Ahahaha, what? No, of course not!” Yosuke answered. She shrugged and skated away, and Yosuke managed to shuffle into a standing position, dusting off his pants before holding a hand out to Souji. Souji took it and allowed himself to pulled upright as well. “Uh, so...want to go again?”
He wanted to continue whatever had been about to happen, to be honest, but Souji just nodded. This time he kept his eyes on his feet and the rink, not chancing a look up at Yosuke once, and after they’d made several laps of the rink with no mishaps, Souji decided to declare the day a success. By the time they were on the train headed back for Inaba, it was already dark. They sat together at the back of the train car, blessedly alone, and they were both pretty exhausted.
“Um, hey, so...about what happened at the rink today,” Yosuke started, looking over at Souji. He was blushing again, and it was still really cute. Souji nodded at him to continue, but he looked away with a panicked expression. “Uh...never mind, it’s stupid.”
“What did you want to say?” Souji asked, shifting a little closer to Yosuke and putting a hand carefully on his shoulder. Yosuke shook his head, still not looking at him.
“Nah, man, don’t worry about it,” he replied. Souji frowned.
“No, really, what is it?” he prodded.
“I said forget it!” Yosuke finally exclaimed, looking over at him with an angry expression. Souji shuffled back, holding his hands up in a gesture of surrender, and Yosuke deflated at the hurt look on his face. “...sorry. Just...never mind.” A few minutes of awkward silence went by, before Yosuke cleared his throat. “So, I’m sure Nanako’ll be thrilled at how good you can skate!”
“I hope so,” Souji replied, relieved that Yosuke didn’t seem to be mad anymore. “Thanks, Yosuke.”
“Sure, sure. I hope all that hard work was worth it. And hey, now I’m the only one that knows the dirty little secret of how bad you were at skating before!” he teased, elbowing Souji. Souji laughed in response.
“You better take that with you to the grave,” he joked.
Yeah, to the grave. Just like what he was going to have to do with these new feelings he was having for Yosuke. There was no way Yosuke liked him, right? Not after how badly he’d freaked out at Kanji in the bathhouse, or during the school camping trip. He’d just been misreading the signs all day, that was all. That had to be it. So he resolved to just forget all about this crush he was suddenly developing on his best friend. He could nip this in the bud right now, he was sure of it. Yep, he could do it.
Except that, when Yosuke flashed his usual big ‘good morning’ grin at him when they met up at the floodplains to walk to school together...all of the resolve he’d spent the entire night trying to build just...crumbled.
“Yosuke,” he said, reaching out and grabbing the other boy’s elbow and prompting him to stop pushing his bike and turn to look at him, curious.
“Yeah, what’s up, Partner?” he asked. Souji could feel his face heating up, just from having those caramel-brown eyes on him. He hated having crushes. Hated it. He didn’t even get them all that often. It was already January and he only had a couple more months of time in Inaba, and he’d thought for sure he was in the clear - he hadn’t even had a passing interest in any of his friends before. He had to get this out of the way, for his own sanity.
“I need to tell you something, alright? Please don’t freak out,” he said, and Yosuke gave a nervous laugh in response.
“Eheheh, sounds serious Partner, you okay?” he asked. Souji shook his head.
“Please just listen to me, okay? I…” he trailed off, with a sigh. He’d been staring down at the muddy ground below them, but he realized that he needed to be looking at Yosuke to say this, so he tightened his grip on Yosuke’s elbow a little and steeled himself, looking up to meet Yosuke’s worried look. “I know how you feel about this stuff, and I know you’re going to reject me, but I need to tell you that I...like you.”
For what felt like eons, Yosuke was completely quiet, staring at Souji with his mouth slightly open in surprise. Just as Souji started to feel like he’d made a terrible mistake, he felt Yosuke shake his elbow free of his grip, heard his bike clatter to the ground, and -- then he had thrown his arms around Souji’s shoulders and was hugging him, and laughing. And not his nervous laughter either, but joyful laughter. He was laughing so hard that he was shaking both of them, face buried in Souji’s shoulder, and all Souji could do was wrap his arms around Yosuke’s waist and hope that this was a good thing. As it turned out, it was.
“I like you too,” he heard Yosuke say, and even though it was muffled from how he still had his head buried in Souji’s shoulder, he still heard it clearly. “Man, I...Souji, Partner, I really like you too.” Then he pulled back and looked Souji in the face. His cheeks were red, and his eyes were shining like he was about to cry, but he had that expression on his face that he’d had at the rink, all full of warmth and affection. “I just...I thought...I never thought…” he pressed his palms against his eyes and heaved a big, long sigh. “S-sorry, I’m kind of a mess.”
“That’s okay,” Souji croaked, and realized that his own throat was tight, and his eyes were a little misty, too. He reached up and wiped at them, composing himself at the same time that Yosuke was trying to.
“I...I’ve liked you for a while,” Yosuke said, after he finally managed to lower his hands. “Probably since you pulled me out of that stupid trashcan.”
“But,” Souji started before he could stop himself, “What about-”
“I know I was a dick to Kanji,” the brunette sighed. “I was just really freaked out. I...I really didn’t want to have a crush on you, y’know? You were like the first person that was nice to me here. I just wanted to have a best friend, and not have...have feelings get in the way.”
“I get that,” Souji replied, with a little sigh. “I only decided to tell you because I hate having a crush on someone.”
“I know, right! It’s the worst!” Yosuke agreed. They shared a laugh at that, leaning against each-other. Eventually, Yosuke sighed, reaching over to tug Souji into another hug, face planted into his shoulder once again. “I...I dunno whether to be happy or terrified that you like me too,” he admitted.
“You can be both,” Souji replied. “I am too.”
“Good, at least we’re equals in this,” Yosuke sighed. They stayed like that for a few minutes, before Souji noticed the time on his watch. He groaned.
“I hate to say this, but we’re gonna be late if we don’t get going, and I don’t think we can pull off skipping classes two days in a row without getting in trouble,” he said. Yosuke pulled away. He started to turn around and pick up his bike, but stopped before he had even grabbed a handlebar.
“Wait, there’s one more thing I wanna do...um, if you want to, that is,” he said, turning back to Souji. Souji nodded for him to continue, and he blushed so hard that even his ears turned a little red. “Um, I...I wanna kiss you. I wanted to yesterday at the rink, but, y’know…”
“Go ahead,” Souji managed to reply, and how he didn’t sound overly enthusiastic, even he didn’t know. Yosuke nodded, approaching him and reaching up to cup one of his cheeks and pull him down as he leaned up, tilting his head as he went.
As far as kisses went, it wasn’t too great. As far as first kisses went, though, it was pretty fantastic. It was short and sweet, and they were both smiling when they broke apart, and Souji felt energized for the entire half-day at school. That probably had something to do with the fact that the two of them exchanged flirty looks every time they even so much as looked at each-other. It made it hard to concentrate on the lectures. It made it hard to concentrate on skating, too, which honestly should have been a bigger problem...but somehow, Nanako was some kind of savant at skating. She’d taken to the rink like a fish in water, so much that she was able to keep Souji balanced whenever Yosuke distracted him, even though he was supposed to be the one keeping her balanced.
