RL Simself Story

P. was finally done with his semesters abroad!🥳 A year passed, things seemed to be back to normal and yet, so much has changed for every single one of us. I was glad he was there. All the arguments & fights he and I had, were almost forgotten. What remained is our close friendship. And Philip saved Daniel’s life. He was always there for me and he was by my side when I thought D. would die. 😞Without P., I would never have survived that..... horrible night in the ER. I could not speak, was injured and afraid Daniel would not survive it. Yea, all this (still) went through my mind.....

However, last year, was tough for P. too. Suddenly he had a Baby he didn’t know about!! He had to take care of Annabelle alone. Isabella took off! Her parents are wealthy people. With their lawyers, they managed to take over full custody of Annabelle. But Ana & I, will help P. & Annabelle. I got an idea how Philip could get custody back. I mean, he had a good job, an apartment, and he didn’t have to go abroad. So why could or should  Isabella’s parents keep custody of his Baby? There was absolutely no reason, to keep a child away from his biological parent. 🤷‍♀️

Also Nico and Philip weren’t fighting anymore. N. told Philip that I am pregnant. But he broke up with me bcs he felt like, I didn’t want to divorce Daniel. Anyway. I was a little scared to stay there that night, bcs of Ana. She was completely wasted. She was talking a bunch of crap!!! 😒 Damien caught us giggling outside Nico’s front door.  He was in the bathroom where the window was slightly open. He could hear everything Ana and I were talking about.🤦‍♀️But at this point he didn’t mention it yet! He just opened the door for us. In the next part it gets even more awkward. Just saying Ana!! She hasn’t seen Nico again, since he and I were back together. So... it might get a little uncomfortable.😬

And I didn’t have a.... wet dream about Damien & Daniel. Not really! However, it was not hot or as Damien called it, wet! But honestly? This is no surprise. Just look at Damien! You’d think he and Daniel were twins. That’s probably why I had this dream? It just overwhelmed me.

No update for Papa and Javert... this week because RL has been. A Lot, haha. I’ll do a proper Coming Attractions on Monday as always, but a few quick things:

- The podfic I did for SWBB is now complete! As is the text, which was a lot of fun to read! - Galactica Big Bang and Mini Bang officially opens up this weekend! :D Still going back and forth on whether I’m going to sign up as a writer in addition to running it, but I’ve more or less settled on what I’m going to do if I do write for it, so there’s that. - I have a couple more Les Mis fics in the pipeline (possibly it should have its own tag at this point, rather than living under ‘shadowsong writes other fandoms,’ lol...) One of which is a companion to Papa and Javert..., covering some things that Ari won’t be able to learn for various reasons. The other is a Groundhog Day AU; I’ve got a few repetitions worked out and am tossing a couple title ideas back and forth in my head, so once I have some text down on that it’ll probably get posted. Provenance (working title for the other one) will probably be posted as a one-shot after P&J finishes. - I’m giving myself an extra week for the June OTP meme fills because...again, RL has been a Lot. - I’m also doing pod_together again, and working on plotting out what I’m doing for it, which is going to be A Lot of fun, I think! Challenging, but the good kind of challenging.

1. So, the titular painting was completed in late August of 1834. Cosette’s eldest son was born October 1 of the same year. This is probably at least 30% of the reason why Valjean actually agreed to the whole thing.

2. When Phil was working as a translator in college, his languages were English and French.

One of Cosette’s Souvenir/Memory paintings is a double-portrait of her and one of her granddaughters in their respective wedding dresses, because sixty years later Giant Sleeves were back in fashion and she thought that was hilarious. It is titled Souvenir de soixante ans (Memory of sixty years)

4. The five kids are, in order: Jean (born October 1, 1834) Thierry and Hélène (twins; born spring of 1837) Juliette (always called Soleil; born in 1840) René (Phil’s ancestor, born in 1844)

5. The two months Cosette spent in Calais are extremely relevant to Ari’s research.

6. While Ari doesn’t uncover any more paintings, there are a few other heirlooms that turn up: the candlesticks (because Of Course); a pocketwatch; a piece of hair jewelry...

So when I was an egg in high school, I created a self-insert OC named Yar Kramer. I used him for a bunch of RPs, and several works of fiction, only one of which I actually completed. There were like two sprite comics and one thing I made that was literally just "sprites + dialogue and descriptions of the action", plus an unpublished and incomplete novel.

RP

The original original roleplay was on a Hitchhiker's Guide website called the H2G2, created by Douglas Adams as an attempt at realizing the eponymous Guide (which has been largely supplanted by Wikipedia). My username was originally "Adolescent White American [wronggender] Who Likes 47" (I liked the number 47 to its frequency in Star Trek); people shortened this to "Yankee Kid, likes 47" and subsequently "YK-47" and just "YK", which I backronym'd to "Yaradovich Kramer"[sic], after Yaridovich from Super Mario RPG and Cid Kramer from Final Fantasy 8. He was originally a coolkid Jedi in a red jacket, but at some point I retconned it to generic "psychic powers."

I also roleplayed him on a few RP MUDs, but I don't really remember any details there.

The "Original" Story

The novel was going to be called "Red Jacket", I think. "Yar Kramer" was a witness-protection alias, and his original name was Daniel Lancaster (hmmmm, someone's primary identity doesn't match their birth name!); he and his family had been forced to work for an evil organization called Project Robinson, which intended to create genetically-engineered espers for reasons I'm not sure about now. Project Robinson was led by an evil scientist called Dr. Krause and a computer named Mother Brain; I justified stealing the name "Mother Brain" because there were three unrelated video games which featured a character by that name (Metroid, Phantasy Star II on the Genesis, and Chrono Trigger).

The Grim Reaper was a woman who talked in underlined dialogue, and whacked people over the head with her scythe rather than actually reaping. She'd changed her form in the 1960s because she found the whole "skeleton" deal to be depressing. She had a black motorcycle with a flame pattern and the text "Pale Horse", and the souls she collected traveled in a pink sidecar which said "Binky" on the side in Comic Sans (where "Binky" is obviously a Discworld reference). When I created this in the 00's, there was totally nothing significant about a character who'd clearly changed her gender, nuh-uh.

Yar's love interest was Mackenzie Robinson, one of Project Robinson's creation. Despite the fact that the gummint had an active hand in extracting Yar's family from Project Robinson, there was some FBI/CIA spook called Agent Pinkerton who hounded Mackenzie like Inspector Javert. I know he had a classmate named Eckhart, who was this ratty-faced jerk with a heart of gold, who was inspired by one of my RL classmates.

I also found a half-written script for a comic, which gets as far as a prologue, followed by a scene which estalishes the witness protection business. Yar jokingly introduces himself Trigun-style as "Yaradovich Halvorsen Thompson-Stryfe-Gainsborough Donatello Leonard Raphael Michelangelo Farnsworth Anderson-Smith Jean-Luc Jones Solo Pepper Tibloxley Amelia Fayette-Mahoney Kierkegaard Williamtonshireworth Melora Kramer I." Wow. Let's see, "Halvorsen" and "Kierkegaard Williamtonshireworth Melora" are clearly made from whol cloth, and I'm not sure where "Jones" came from, but other than that, I can see in order ... Trigun (Thompson and Stryfe), Final Fantasy VII (Strife and Gainsborough), all four Ninja Turtles, Futurama, The Matrix, Star Trek, Star Wars, Cowboy Bebop (re-engrished "Pepelu Tivruski"), and Slayers. Again, wow.

First Reality

The "main" sprite comic, which was a sort of Final Fantasy parody made mostly in RPG Maker, and which ran from 2001 to 2004 on Keenspace. Yar Kramer was a "Neo-Samurai" (basically a ripoff of SeeD from Final Fantasy 8), fighting alongside a dude named Shigeru 'Gary' Oak (Gary Oak except as an adult, with a gunblade and dressed as Seifer Almasy, with no sign of any pokemon), and Tina Branford (Terra Branford without her tragic backstory).

The setting was incomprehensible if you didn't have detailed knowledge of Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, and also Mega Man X; nearly every single place name was named after something from Final Fantasy except for Death Mountain, where they went to in order to get the Triforce (long story). A pink-haired goofy-and-hyperactive Celes Chere was the princess of Mysidia, and was a FF8-Sorceress; she frequently went in disguise as a thief named Fobby, and used a Reploid named Dancer as a body-double.

The main villain was named Darklumen, and his evil plan was to destroy the world by weakening the fabric of existence by leveraging sprite comic cliches, thus demonstrating that I have always been Like That. (The fact that I had a direct author avatar called the "Ultimate Guardian Force" with semi-omnipotent powers over the comic isn't even worth dwelling on, because omnipotent "author" characters are par for the course with sprite comics.)

The other party members: Kefka Palazzo, who was the court jester for Mysidia; Enerion Imusen, a half-Esper who was invented from whole cloth, who overcame his hangups about being half-esper with Tina's help before he got killed off by the bad guy; and "Rock Light" (because one of the reality-damaging sprite comic cliches was "Mega Man is present"), who was actually the Great Guardian Force Yu-Yevon in disguise for convoluted reasons.

In the ending, it's mentioned that Gary marries Princess Celes, and sort of vaguely implies that Yar ends up with Tina. (Tina made actual romantic overtures to Yar halfway through the comic, but they were interrupted by shallow comedy.)

I absolutely refused to let go of a running gag in which a male character would say something that broke the fourth wall, and at least one female character would immediately yell at him for doing so.

... I actually found some MIDI songs in the First Reality files which I personally composed. Well ... I say "composed", but the Darklumen final boss music was clearly based on the Super Smash Bros 1's Final Destination music with techno-twittering from All Your Base, one was based on a boss theme from Final Fantasy X combined with anime music, and Yar Kramer's personal themesong was chiefly based on Glyde's theme from The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

YaraY

The other sprite comic, hosted on a subdirectory of First Reality's site. The name came from Yar's evil twin, Ray Remark ("Yar" and "Kramer" spelled backwards), and also from the Japanese expression "yare yare" (translated in JJBA "good grief").

It was a shallow Bob and George-esque thing with Mega Man sprites, and invovled Yar's shenanigans opposite Ray Remark; a straightlaced roommate with blue hair named Elbert Ssab (I don't know where I got "Elbert" from, but I came up with "Ssab" after noticing that "Elbert" backwards is "Treble"); a Reploid named Jive who was an orange recolor of Zero from Mega Man Zero; and a girl in a pink shirt named Kira, whose character concept began and ended with "hyperactive blonde girl." At one point, there was a comic which depicted First Reality as an actual console RPG being played by Kira; this comic was then ported directly to First Reality.

I abruptly stopped updating it in the middle of a story arc in which Jive went off with a group Maverick Hunters which inexplicably included Zio from Phantasy Star 4, who was just there to be generically evil rather than actually pursuing any of his canonical goals.

Super Adventure Yar

And finally, the "sprites plus dialogue" thing. It used whatever anime, video game, and internet characters I was interested in at any given moment, and there were inserts from several people I knew online. All of whom were basically overpowered in some respect, i.e. one of the friend-inserts was literally just a redheaded Goku in a trench coat, except his Saiyan name was "Suckarot". It was the most absurd and ridiculous of these things.

Yar was your basic inexplicably-overpowered action-shounen protagonist, and people kept going "What!? Why is he so powerful!?" (If there was going to be an explanation, I never got a chance to give it and I don't remember what it was, but I doubt there was anything reasonable.) Of course, this was also true of pretty much every protagonist.

His fighting style involved throwing energy blasts, and his signature move was named "Island King Kamehameha", because I knew the etymology of the Dragonball attack, but the kind of creative person I was at the time was that nuance, self-awareness, and "general understanding of what I was putting into my stories" were something that happened to other people.

Mayl Sakurai was impulsively violent with a squeaky-mallet.

At one point, while the protagonists were discussing a plot point which Mayl wasn't present for, she said, "What the hell are you talking about?" and then tossed an entire burger into her mouth.

Cut Man's NetNavi was FishMan.exe.

Yar bought Chii Chobits from Strong Bad, who ran an unbelievably shady second-hand electronics store; Chii's copycat tendencies extended to copying other peoples' magic and superpowers.

He also bought a generic NetNavi and expressed the intention to customize it, but all sign of NetNavis were dropped after a few episodes.

The "ageless faceless gender-neutral culturally-ambiguous adventuring person" (AFGNCAAP) from Zork/Enchanter was one of the main characters. They frequently used spells from Enchanter such as "gaspar" ("provide for your own resurrection" -- basically like a Final Fantasy "Auto-Life" spell, but AFGNCAAP was also able to use it on others), "vaxum" ("make hostile creature friendly", and every single target which it actually worked on promised to kill them after it wore off), "krebf" ("repair willful damage"), and "talcor" (healing; this seems to be something I made up myself, because I can't find any references to it in Enchanter canon).

I insisted on using "he/she" and the like instead of just the singular "they", wow I was deep in the egg in 2004. But they did say "I don't have a gender" at one point!

Magus/Janus from Chrono Trigger was trying to take over the world using robotic Sinistars. His minions were "the Terrible Trio", which consisted of Onslaught from Marvel vs. Capcom 1, Dalton from Chrono Trigger, and Dynamo from Mega Man X.

I stole the "now I'm wet and on fire!" joke from the webcomic Adventurers! during a fight between Dalton and AFGNCAAP.

Magus got a Vegeta-style "suddenly I happen to be on the same side of the heroes" redemption with the sudden arrival of, um, the Saiyans. Starting with Raditz as just a retread of Dragonball Z.

After Raditz was beaten, he sent a message to Vegeta and "Zappa", who was just Nappa but with a terrible wig and an atrocious southern accent; I have no idea what I was going for there.

The planet Arlia from Dragonball Z was populated by clones of Alia from Mega Man X5. It had the same fate as in the show, namely that Vegeta and Zappa just casually blew it up after going on a rescue-a-princess quest.

There was an "It's a gundam!" joke there.

The Goku-expy friend-insert taught Yar how to fly Hitchhiker's Guide-style ("throw yourself at the ground and miss"), and how to use bullet-time.

Mayl trained under Magus. At one point, while she was fighting a friend-insert with a sniper rifle (who'd previously stolen everyone's wallets for no apparent reason), Magus remarked that she had "hidden potential" and noted that in her hands, her squeaky mallet was just as powerful as the sniper rifle.

Vash the Stampede showed up, and the plot promptly started getting derailed as everyone around him dropped everything to try to claim his $60 billion bounty (Onslaught, to Dalton and Dynamo: "We'll split it 50-50-50!").

At one point, Vash ran off with Chii for reasons that only slightly made sense in context, and Yar chased them to a town called Las Eisley.

The three of them got into a bar fight at a "restaulant"[sic] (I thiiiink this was originally actual engrish from Trigun itself?) which completely wrecked the building.

After the bar fight, Yar called up AFGNCAAP to make repairs using the krebf spell; AFGNCAAP asked, "Was all the damage willful?" and Yar replied, "Well, I definitely proceeded in the full knowledge that massive destruction would occur." Due to the rules of sprite-comic comedy, this was enough for krebf to work.

There was a "Dear Strong Bad, how do you type with boxing gloves on?" joke.

In the middle of everything else, I started writing an episode introducing Valkyries and Loki -- which displayed a surprisingly deep knowledge of Norse mythology on 18-year-old-me's part -- but I never finished it and my files don't even have the sprites for the main Valkyrie character, who was another friend-insert.

... All of these continuities just feel amazing to me in retrospect, because this is the kind of thing that can only happen in fanfiction. Only something using existing characters, our existing associations with these characters, can possibly reach this level of ridiculousness.

Which isn't to say it's all fun and games, though. I was a particularly un-woke Rotten Egg, which meant that there was rampant sexism, and lowkey fanservice. The concept might look fun, but the execution was invariably "the worst parts of the sprite comic fandom."

After almost 2 weeks at home, the usual everyday life started again for me. I was back in my job and that day I had class with Dilek. I left out all my frustration about my new job at Dilek. 🙁 😩... Daniel had a hard time getting me out of bed every morning. I just didn’t want to get up. In bed I felt safe, while the world outside felt cold and threatening to me. But I had no choice and with Daniel’s help, I somehow managed to get up and today seemed to be a good day for me. I was in a better mood than the days before.

Dilek accompanied me on the way home because she knew I would see Philip. She “missed” him, you know? 🤦‍♀️ Just Philip wasn’t really excited when he saw Dilek. He still couldn’t stand her! Especially because she kept calling him number 2. But you probably wonder why I even met P.? Again! He said goodbye to me. Soon he had to go back to university. Just this time, he didn’t want to come back home, he wanted to stay away for a long time. 😨 😭 

Dilek: Why are you even dating him when you’re no longer together? Are you dating all your ex-bf’s? I mean, you haven’t seen Nico yet, so why Philip?

Me: Um, he called me! 🤷‍♀️

Dilek: But you’re with Daniel and you live with him!

Me: Daniel knows, Philip means a lot to me and will always be part of my life.

Me: 🤨... See? 🤷‍♀️ ...That’s why I can’t be with you anymore! Why didn’t you tell me the other day when I was with you, in your bed? 😠 You almost slept with me! Even though you’re with someone else? You have no respect for me or any other woman!

Philip: I didn’t even want to talk to him about you, but he asked questions and Nico is not stupid! He immediately noticed something wasn’t right.

Me: You know I don’t really wanna know, what N. is doing. He doesn’t belong to me anymore! But you! And I don’t want you to leave! I still need you in my life! 😟 😔

Philip: Tell Ana good luck for college. And tell her I’m sorry. I’m not coming to her farewell party. I think she’ll understand. I’m leaving tomorrow with N.’s dad, because of this app I’m working on and then... I’m flying on.

Me: When will you come back? When will I see you again? 😨

DISCLAIMER: I don’t know any Russian or Thai and my info comes from not-so-trustworthy Google-sensei though I did my best to triple check from multiple sources including non-English ^ ^; I am however native and fluent in both Japanese and English and also consulted a Japanese linguist regarding my kanji choices ^ ^; If I made any mistakes please be gentle, and also understanding that this is a low-stress self-indulgent near-crack AU >.>;;;

Onwards! vvv

The twins: So one of the base premises of YOI as a series is “HEY check out this name ‘Yuri’ that works in both Russian and Japanese! Let’s have two characters from these nationalities share this name.” So it only makes sense to me that any Russian-Japanese kids they have also follow this multi-lingual pattern. I also really wanted the twins to match as much as possible because their characters are very much inseparable, sides of the same coin type kids.

Turns out finding names that work in both languages other than Yuri is pretty hard, especially when your knowledge of Russian is 0. The ones I came up with I was like AHAHAH NAH WHAT JOKE ANIME VILLAIN NAMES ARE THOSE but in the end I couldn’t find better and after calling them that for months, it’s kinda stuck >.>;

So that’s how I ended up with two names that are both nicknames in Russian, both have pretty unfortunate/evil phonetic first impressions in Japanese, and both are feminine and elegant in their Japanese kanji.

Yasha (夜紗/Яша) - I absolutely wanted this for Victor and Yuuri’s son, because apparently it’s the nickname form of “Yakov” which I mean COME ON. Unfortunately, the English approximation of the Japanese phonetic is “demon,” oopsies, not sure you want to name your kid that in rl, but it sounds cool so you may recognize it from various anime ^ ^;;; Luckily Japanese kanji can switch out meanings, so we have “night” and the second character is an uncommon feminine ending that can mean something like “silk,” but is generally just feminine and pretty.

Shura (珠羅/Шура) - Is apparently a nickname for “Aleksandr” and other variations in Russian. Unfortunately, the most obvious meaning for the sound is “carnage,” most frequently used in shuraba or “scene of carnage” in Japanese (in addition to being taken literally, this can also refer to love trouble situation, such as catching your lover cheating etc). Also sounds cool, also pretty common in anime/song titles but nooooot so great rl name LOL With the swapped out kanji, the first character is “pearl,” and the second, while different from Yasha’s, can also mean “silk” and is also a very feminine and elegant character.

I feel like Yurio would be super excited at the prospect of naming his kids like badass anime characters “Demon” and “Carnage” and Victor would be too tickled by the bilingual options and Yuuri would just sorta cave and be like FINE OKAY but don’t turn to me when the other Japanese kids look at them weird...

ALSO, I’m aware that both are in nickname form and not the full Russian names identified above, but as the nicknames are the only ones that work in Japanese those are their official names ^ ^ Given the international nature of their family, I figure it’s fine.

Arisa (愛利咲/อริสา) - This is a common enough relatively modern name in Japanese, and I found it in enough Thai sources to think it works as a Thai name too, but I’m not entirely sure if it’s a native Thai name or a loan name from a different language and also couldn’t find a Thai meaning to it ^ ^;; But given how I’ve heard Thai nicknaming works, I was like okay it’s fine if it’s leaning towards Japanese right?? Anyway, it’s a name I genuinely love outside of bilingual potential so I was biased towards it the moment I found out it could work ^ ^;

ANYWAY, the meaning of her name based on the characters I chose (many combinations possible for this name) means “blooming love,” which I feel is super fitting for this family. ^ ^ ALSO, the middle “ri” character is not particularly cute or feminine compared to the alternatives, but is rather masculine and the choice is intentional. In Japanese, many parents (including my own), will choose to write their kids’ names using characters from their own or their family members’ names. The “ri” in Arisa is the “ri” in both Yuuri and his sister Mari’s names. This character is also actually the first one in Yuuri’s dad’s name, Toshiya (利也), yep it’s read super differently but it’s there, which absolutely makes it a family legacy thing.

Yuuji (勇次) - The most straightforward of all their names, but also given with some thought. ^ ^;; It’s an obvious combination of Yuuri (勇利) and Kenjirou (健次郎)’s names, and is a pretty normal Japanese name. I also could have gone with “Yuujirou,” but it’s a bit long, the “rou” is really masculine, and it’s also the exact sort of name that would be butchered mercilessly in international contexts (though Yuuji is also a pretty masculine name).

The first character, Yuuri’s “Yuu,” means bravery, and the second character from Minami “ji” is “next,” and is commonly given to the second son. But I feel in this context, “next bravery” also seems like a really good name to give someone who you have high hopes for continuing his parents’ legacy in the next generation.

*All of their hyphenated surnames were chosen based on their parents’ fore-knowledge that they’d be growing up in primarily international contexts. Hyphenated surnames really aren’t a thing in Japan at least and Katsuki-Minami is bizarre af but I figured anything goes if it’s all international and given how unconventional their family already is, they’re going to prioritize keeping the pattern than giving a traditional name. Katsuki is first in all of the kids surnames so the kids’ll be together alphabetically. As of the “current” time in this AU, all of the parents have retained their original surnames.

In theory, then, a person could replace the road textures for each terrain with the default textures and have no roads anywhere? Does modding out signs and traffic happen only in lush hoods, or would that need to be repeated as well?

Modding out traffic is a global thing. If you put in that mod I linked to, you’ll have no neighborhood traffic in any of your neighborhoods, so long as the mod is in your downloads. You have to manually remove the intersection stop signs, though. (They’re just neighborhood deco, perfectly OK to remove as you would any other piece of deco.) But yes, you can have a road default for each type of terrain in the game and you can have multiple different ones that you can switch in and out, although you can only have one road default for each terrain type in your game at a time. So, if you use Maxis terrains, you’d just need four road defaults (one for each terrain type) with the road “pieces” painted to match the terrain.

I tried to make a road default that just consisted of all empty, transparent textures, the goal being to make it “universal,” with the roads being invisible on any terrain, but it didn’t look right. So, it is what it is, but, yes, you could take that default and replace the images with ones from any terrain you use in your game to make it match those terrains. Then you can switch your road defaults in and out as needed for different neighborhoods. That’s the nice thing about defaults. :)

Yeah, I know. It just sucks being sort of chronically not-well. I want to do stuff, and the body doesn’t always cooperate. It’d almost be easier if it was always uncooperative, because then I’d get used to it and be resigned to it and learn to live with it, but it isn’t always like that. More often (at least for now) I have energy to spare and feel perfectly healthy, but sometimes I don’t, and I can’t figure out any rhyme or reason to it. If there was a pattern or a cycle to it, like a menstrual cycle sort of thing or if it was related to eating something or not eating something, then I could know what to expect and when. But there isn’t. It’s very frustrating.

Cherish your liver, people! Baby that sucker!

Yay, very cool! As I just built the fisher's shack on a beach lot on a river, I'm just going to pretend the surf comes from the nearby sea... Even though they're on the mouth of the river... Yeah, well. xD But now I know about this trick for next time! \0/

It is a pretty neat thing. And I discovered it completely by accident, too! I just wanted an off-road beach lot, so I did the moving around. I figured that “Beach Lot” option in the Lot Adjuster would turn it into a beach lot, but I figured it’d generate surf, too. But it didn’t, and I was like, “Hey, cool.” But then a test Sim couldn’t swim, and I was like “Bummer!” But then I remembered the beach portals, which I’d used once before, many years ago, on a non-beach lot that edged neighborhood water, and I’m pretty sure that when I used them there, surf was generated. So, I figured the portals would generate surf on this lot, too. But they didn’t, and I was like, “YEEEESSSSSSSS!” *fist pump* Yay, serendipity! :)

It’s not guilt so much as regret. I enjoy seeing and commenting on people’s pics and posts. Makes me feel connected to the world, I guess, and when I can’t do it for whatever reason, I just feel regret. Sadness. That sort of thing.

Yeah, I know. It’s just frustrating. I’ve just been really tired, not really sick, per se, but just really, really lethargic, sleeping most of the day if I don’t deliberately keep myself awake. Stupid metabolic issues. I’d sit down at the computer with grand plans to do stuff...and then I find myself nodding off and occasionally literally headdesking. *sigh* It’s been better today, though. It’s very useful really, I hated that phone booth! I use defaults for the lot (before I just hid it under rocks or underground with an OMSP, but I have lots of witches in Strangetown and it was annoying when they arrived and got trapped), but the hood view wasn’t changed and it looked really ugly in the hood view.

Really? It still looks like that in hood view even if you use a default for the phone booth? That’s...annoying. :P But if that’s the case...Yeah, it’s more useful than I thought, then. It kind of sucks, I suppose, not to have any hood view at all rather than a proper one (especially if you use a default), but it’s better than that hideous yellow-and-blue thing screwing up your hood view in a medieval neighborhood or whatever.

Many thanks ! Sometimes it annoys me also when my sims live near a river and can't swim in it.

Or, they CAN swim in it, but that’s because it’s a beach lot with the waves and stuff. I didn’t want that. I wanted to be able to put trees right up to the edge and hanging over the water, like a real river. It looks kind of silly if you do that with ocean waves coming in. :p

*sigh* Yeah, it probably would. Outside of corruption issues, I wouldn’t worry so much about it, but I want to make it a sub-neighborhood template, so that it can be attached to other neighborhoods or be part of an uberhood or whatever. Can’t be that if it has stealth hoods attached to it, itself. :\ One of these days, I’m going to set up a new user account on this machine and test it out. Hopefully, it’ll work...

I love floof dogs. I have a big, floofy Mastiff/St. Bernard mix, and I love cuddling with her and burying my face in her floof...when she’s clean. Which isn’t all that often. Which is one of the main problems with floof dogs. :) Especially when they really, really don’t like baths and they weigh more than you do. Bathing them is, like, a three-person job and everyone ends up soaked to the skin, not just the dog.

A lot of headcanons under the cut:

I was inspired by RL fashion trends, so I TRIED to strike some sort of balance between perpetuating and breaking stereotypes - ABO Magazine is progressive, but not that progressive. U_U

With the Alphas, I thought about the dichotomy between how the men and women are sometimes portrayed when they dress to emphasize power. A "man's man" is often a rugged muscle-bound lumberjack on his motorcycle or pickup truck who's good with his hands. 3-piece suit businessmen, while desired for the money and status, are also sometimes seen as being almost too genteel. They're the wolves on Wall Street; kings of the concrete jungle, not the wild, where the "real" men are.  Derek Hale and Peter Hale were my inspirations for the guys.

On the other hand though, a HBIC female wears a man’s power suits, and dresses sharply for corporate America. She’s got stilettos and a severe hairstyle. But if she dresses too much like a man she's suddenly butch or a tomboy. So I thought about that. As there were only a couple female alphas on Teen Wolf, I just went with pictures of Janelle Monae and Angelina Jolie, who are alpha women in my mind.

With Betas, because my headcanon says there are so darn many of them, naturally it would be harder for them to stand out from the pack. So in order to compete and get noticed, Betas are the obnoxious showy ones. I was very much thinking of Erica Reyes, and how she had all the leather and animal prints and bold makeup and hair in broad daylight; skirting that hooker line oh-so-closely. For the guys I don't know why I was picturing cowboys, but I was, oh well. :P But again, they’d want to wear brighter colors, too. I used pictures of Boyd, one of the twins, and Dylan.

With the Omegas, I pretty much just played to the stereotypes. Androgynous, pastels, light and airy, soft, cute, and sweet and fluffy like a marshmallow. Girly-girl and girly-guy wear, modest enough to keep Omegas from flaunting themselves and being snatched up or shunned, but still with that easy-access sexy irresistible charm that teases the imagination and makes you wonder what exactly is under those clothes and layers. Kira's a big inspiration for the girls. With the guys I used a picture of Colton, and two from effeminate male fashion blogs -- that deep v-neck is so Peter Hale-esque.

I have my own personal headcanons about Jeff. It’s fine if you don’t agree. We never see him in the show, only hear other peoples’ opinions of him. I don’t have any special insight, it’s just how I see him.

My Jeff is approximately 30 years older than Scott, that makes him mid to late 50s in our RP family. I knowwwwww some people like to RP him as super young, but that doesn’t really work for me as he’s crammed so much into his life already XDDDDD. I prefer a middle aged Jefferson.

As above Jeff has lived a respectable amount of time, and so the way I RP Jeff slightly differs according to his age at the time. I RP him as quite arrogant and reckless in his younger years, but evolving into an awesome dad slowly over time XDDDD

I’m a selective RPer: I RP with my friends in the RP Family so I am strictly Munogamous. If you send an ask or prompt IC for a character I already RP with then…it kinda puts me in an awkward position. It means I have to choose between disappointing my friend or disappointing you ☹☹☹ And friends always come first, so… XDDDDDDDDDDDDD

July 17 Dancitron Movie Night - Sing

Swoop and Tarantulas got in a small kerfuffle and Prowl sent a flying kick at Swoop, and honestly Prowl jumping into a fight with a Dinobot is easily the dumbest thing he’s done all month.

Soundwave, Tarantulas and Prowl hung out after movie night was over. The contents of said hangout are still being roleplayed out and the chatlog is forthcoming. Highlights of what IS included in this log: Tarantulas has promised to capture a bunch of cephalopods for Soundwave, Bevel, and Prowl to meet. (Prowl doesn’t really care about meeting them all that much, but he decided to come along anyway so that Soundwave gets to meet three more species.)

Questions: 1. All-time favorite song? This one is hard… It’s a tie between London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines (by P!ATD) or Twin Size Mattress (by The Front Bottoms)

2. (To copy Anna’s question😂) How d'y'all feel about the color red? I used to hate it because it was my sister’s favorite color, but now I like it when it’s with black bc it’s super edgy

3. Have you ever been to the ocean? Did you like it? I love the ocean, it’s my favorite place. I love the water and the beach, and some of my favorite memories are there. I’m a certified scuba diver, although I haven’t dived in about 2 years. I want to be a marine biologist when I’m older (although that dream will probably die and I’ll be an accountant or something).

4. Do you like snow? Snow is super fun! I lived in Texas for 6 years, but before that New Jersey and Ohio and I had so much fun in the snow. I’m in Massachusetts now, and I haven’t had a winter here yet, but I feel like my opinions might change now that I’m not 8.

5. How many books do you have? I have 2 full bookshelves, plus a bunch sitting all over my room. I love reading!

6. How late do you sleep in? Usually until about 12 (I stay up until around 2) but I’ve been trying to wake up earlier because I’m wasting my life away sleeping.

7. (This is the most important one) do you like IKEA? What’s the longest amount of time you’ve spent in one? I like the idea of IKEA, but usually when I go I don’t like it. This is because when I was 10 we went shopping for my brother’s apartment when he was in collage and they had a kid’s area. The problem was I was too tall (I’m 5'10 now, I’ve always been tall for my age) so they wouldn’t let me in. They had and Xbox, Wii, a ball pit, etc. and they wouldn’t let me in so I had to walk around IKEA, bored out of my mind for 6 hours. The worst part was I could see some short 14 year olds on their phone in there, but they wouldn’t let me in.

8. Do you listen to classical music? No, I get bored by music if there aren’t lyrics because my mind wanders and I can’t focus on the music.

9. Are your walls pure™ or have do you have things hung up everywhere? I used to have posters everywhere, but since I moved, I had to move everything and I can’t find most of my posters. (I have a signed Melanie Martinez poster and a P!ATD poster leaning against the wall (they’re both framed)

10. Favorite book? (Mwhahaha) I love the Six Of Crows and the sequel, Crooked Kingdom. They are amazing and there’s so much representation (many POC characters, a character with severe PTSD and a physical disability, a chubbier character who is described many times as beautiful, gay/bi characters, and so much more!). They are about a gang of young criminals who commit a grand heist. It’s funny and lighthearted during some parts, but serious and heartbreaking during others. There’s also magic! I would definitely recommend reading them, along with the other books that take place in the Grishaverse.

11. Lastly, do you like butter on bagels? (Gotta keep the brand alive you know?) I like butter or cream cheese. I’d say I like them both equally.
