A few different levels finished their tournament, so here’s a brief summary of the top division and division I!

For the second year in a row, a non-north American team was in the finals, and Czechia women capture silver for the first time !

Chloe Primerano, in her first U18 WWC tournament, broke the record for the most points by a defender in tournament history with 16 points. She had 8 goals and 8 assists

Adela Sapovalivova, in her last u18 tournament, finishes as the highest scoring Czech player in u18 women’s world championship history; after a tournament where she adored 9 goals and 2 assists she finishes with 16 goals and 10 assists in 26 u18 WWC games. Forward Tereza Plosová finishes just a point behind her with 25 points in 26 games.

17 year old Finnish player Emma Ekoluoma continues her big year, with 8 goals and 3 assists in 6 games.

To me, the best goaltender was between Aneta Senkova (czechia) and Livia Debranova (Slovakia.) Senkova had the fantastic game against Canada where she made 45 saves. She finished the tournament with a .913 save percentage in 297~ minutes played and 139 shots against. Debranova was also spectacular playing 281 minutes and a .915 save percentage with 201 shots against

Star player Nela Lopušanová (Slovakia) unfortunately saw less ice time than expected due to illness, according to her coach

Highlights:

17 year old Italian forward Matilde Fantin was the top scorer, with 7 goals and 4 assists in 5 games. She currently plays in the SWHL as well, and will be key for an Italian team gearing up for the Olympics in two years

15 year old (!!) forward Umeka Odaira of Japan had a clutch tournament, with a hat trick in the game that got them promoted to the top division. She finished with 9 points in 4 games. Defender and captain Kohane Sato also had a spectacular tournament, with 6 points in 5 games and stellar two way play. Goaltender Haruka kuromaru was also a difference maker, playing all 300 minutes of the tournaments, and ending with a .962 save percentage

Claudia Castellanos, who recently moved to New Jersey from Spain to play with the ironbound in the 19U AAA league, took a huge step this year on top of already dominate international play and had 11 goals and 3 assists in five games

17 year old Norwegian forward Tilde Simensen played in her first U18 WWC and dominated as well, with 10 goals and 3 assists in five games. She has spent this past season training in Sweden in the division below the SDHL

when footballers play terribly, I don’t expect them to trashtalk anyone in front of cameras, but I do want them to look gutted, like they’re taking it to heart

here above we first have Jan Vertonghen, who says: “I’ve got many things going through my head that I’d better not say, at least not publicly...” (this was after Belgium lost to Morocco)

he looks upset, I picture him slamming doors and yelling at teammates in the changing room, and I love that for him, I want him to feel the rage, it’s only right

but second we have Eden Hazard, who does what he always fucking does in interviews: 

he downplays the negativity of the situation with a smile, shrugs like criticism doesn’t affect him, reassures that they’ll be better next time, and emphasizes that they must “prendre du plaisir” (have a pleasurable time playing football)

and I want to shake him by the shoulders and scream into his face to open his heart to wrath & despair

(for the MBTI+enneagram crowd: I typed him ESTP+7, and it’s his 7ness that drives me up the wall)

there was a story in the papers the next day that claimed that he and Vertonghen actually had a physical fight after the match

I scoffed at the idea because I cannot picture Hazard doing that, although I kind of wish I could

at a later press conference, he was asked about it and said, again with shrugs and smiles: “I would never fight Jan, he’s taller than me! I’m not stupid!”

and I laughed at that tiny man and thought: you know what, in this context, his way of defusing the tension with humor is actually working for me, so I’ll let him live

... the first to come upon the source of the crashing sound were several wolves from the Fenrir Pack. They were heading out anyway but interested in finding out what was in store for them. So they found the Odin Tree, the one they'd been worshiping a month earlier, now split in three parts down the middle, its large branches having come crashing down into the forest.

The pack sadly couldn't call it in, none of their phones working. And nobody had a walkie-talkie either. It would be several hours more before everyone would know about it.

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?

writing actual hockey is hard for me. i'm NOT a sports person (wasn't) and am still learning the game and all of the lingo and intricacies and still send a lot of obnoxious questions to the group chat. so i generally avoid writing game play in my fics even though i frequently set my hockey rpf fics in a canonish universe or have at least some of the characters still being hockey players in an au.

i can't think of anything else, subject matter wise? but i only write what i want to, so i'm sure there would be plenty of things i'd be bad at or that would be hard that i just...don't want to write, so i don't.

this isn't really subject matter necessarily, but i still really struggle to write good kissing/making out scenes. i feel like my smut has come a long way but i still find it incredibly challenging to write a good kiss that strikes the right balance.

25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?

i don't always have a lot of backstory in my head for my fics, but i do sometimes.

in she, tk and patty play hockey together (they'd be on a 16U or 19U team i guess, i hc them as 16 or 17). patty's coach is being shitty bc she's dealt with a series of injuries despite being so young, not because she's trans. her and tk have played together since they were young and have always been close. they're best friends, and were both too scared to do anything about their changing feelings until this moment.

I was riding my bike, because I took a wrong turn somewhere, I accidentally ended up on the highway, I wanted to get out of the highway as soon as possible, so with my bike I stopped on a green field where I had never been before. The sun shone a warm orange glow over the grassy hills. A girl between the age of 5 and 12 years old came to me. With her blonde hair and light pink shirt, she asked if I wanted to see her crafts. In the distance I saw a small school building, there were teachers, parents and children. I said yes, the girl held my hand and led me to the building. We walked through the blades of grass and between the colourful flowers, children frolicking around. We went inside, there were indeed all kinds of paintings on the wall. We walked side by side. Although I'm not much into abstract art, there was one art piece I loved: It was a carpet with a starry sky and a beach on it, as if the sea were made of stars. Not only that, but a machine rapidly moved one corner of the carpet up and down, creating waves in the carpet. It was quite hypnotic. The girl and I continued. I noticed that the theme was 'Magic', the teachers were dressed in medieval clothes with soft colours; colourful but not bright. There were thick books everywhere, fake dragons and bottles with colourful 'magic potions'. I noted that it was almost 7 pm and the 'exhibition' was probably closing, children have to go to bed early. The girl led me to a somewhat dark room. There the theme was 'Dark Magic' the teachers wore dark clothes, as if they were evil witches and wizards. One 'witch' even gave an evil speech to her other witches. I was very impressed by the effort the students and teachers had put into their exhibition, it was more of an experience than an exhibition. I was glad to see some art for once and that I discovered a new place nearby. I thanked the girl and left for home, towards the setting sun. (pic made with AI )

NEDERLANDSE VERSIE / DUTCH VERSION Droom 25-26 May 2023 Ik reed met mijn fiets, omdat ik ergens verkeerd reed kwam ik per ongeluk op een snelweg, ik wilde er zo snel mogelijk van weg, dus met mijn fiets stopte ik op een groen veld waar ik nooit eerder was geweest. De zon scheen een warme oranje gloed over de heuvels van gras. Een meisje tussen 5 en 12 jaar kwam naar mij toe. Met haar blonde haren en licht roze shirt vroeg ze of ik haar knutselwerkjes wilde zien. Ik zag in de verte een klein schoolgebouw, er waren leerkrachten, ouders en kinderen. Ik zei ja, het meisje hield mij hand vast en leidde mij naar het gebouw. We liepen doorheen de gras sprietjes en tussen de kleurrijke bloemen, kinderen dartelden in het rond. We gingen binnen, er hingen inderdaad allerlei schilderijen aan de muur. We liepen naast elkaar. Hoewel ik niet zo voor abstracte kunst ben was er één werk dat ik prachtig vond: Het was een tapijt met daarop een sterrenhemel en een strand, alsof de zee gemaakt was van sterren. Niet alleen dat, maar een machine bewoog één hoek van het tapijt rap op en neer waardoor er golven ontstonden in het tapijt. Het was nogal hypnotiserend. Het meisje en ik gingen verder. Ik merkte op dat het thema 'Magie' was, de meesters en juffen waren verkleed in middeleeuwse kleren met zachte kleuren, kleurrijk maar niet fel. Overal lagen er dikke boeken, nepdraakjes en flessen met kleurrijke 'toverdrankjes'. Ik merkte op dat het bijna 19u was en de 'tentoonstelling' waarschijnlijk ging sluiten, kinderen moeten nu eenmaal vroeg naar bed. Het meisje leidde mij naar een wat donkere zaal. Daar was het thema 'Duistere Magie' de leerkrachten hadden donkere kleren aan, alsof ze slechte heksen en tovenaars waren. Eén 'heks' gaf zelfs een kwade speech aan haar andere heksen. Ik was enorm onder de indruk van de moeite die de leerlingen en leerkrachten hadden gestoken in hun tentoonstelling, het was eerder een beleving dan een expositie. Ik was blij dat ik eens wat kunst kon zien en een nieuwe plek in de buurt had ontdekt. Ik bedankte het meisje en vertrok naar huis, richting de ondergaande zon. (foto gemaakt met AI )
