Character ask: Maeve!

1. What influenced or inspired the creation of this character?

lots of Critical Role, honestly. i hadn’t played a Druid since 3e (not even 3.5), so listening to CR and hearing just how much ass Keyleth could kick really inspired me to try out Circle of the Moon.

2. What is your character’s relationship with their family? Family is a word which here refers to biological relatives, close companions, and/or the individual(s) who raised them.

Maeve wants very much to impress her family, and has taken on an intimidating task in hopes of doing just that

3. Who is the closest person to them?

person? nobody. for all she loves and wants to impress her family, they aren’t exactly the most emotionally intimate of people. being an insular sect of Raven Queen worshipers might have something to do with that.

4. What were the conditions surrounding their formative years?

difficult. Maeve’s circle was effectively exiled to the Raven Queen’s home demiplane a century ago, and has had little contact with the Prime Material Plane since then. they’ve worked hard to be worthy of their goddess, and are striving towards reopening communications with the other planes, and then Maeve’s birth - specifically, the manifestation of her aasimar heritage - was taken as a sign that it was time. so there was a lot of pressure put on her from an early age to excel in tests of martial strength and divine power.

5. What creature would they like to have as a pet?

she actually just bought a raven in our last session, because she was feeling a little homesick. haven’t come up with a name for him yet.

6. Do they have any bad habits?

she absolutely cannot hold her liquor - although that doesn’t seem to impact her aim, much to the detriment of the NPC she hit in the face with an empty beer mug because she thought he was trying to start a bar fight.

7. Is there anyone they’d die for? Kill for? 

the Raven Queen. death holds no fear for her faithful, and neither does killing.

8. Who was their first love?

she hasn’t had one yet. there’s a pretty cute elf girl in her new adventuring party though...

9. How would this character react to someone confessing their love for them?

very, very awkwardly

10. How old is this character?

23 or so? i don’t remember and i don’t feel like logging into roll20 to check

11. Are they normally peaceful or aggressive?

she’s pretty passive and easygoing right up until she decides a situation can no longer be solved with words. unless she’s drunk, because then she just wants to fight everybody.

12. How does this character handle stress?

logorrhea

13. Does your character consider themselves lucky?

she considers herself blessed by the Raven Queen, but not exactly lucky

14. What is their favorite holiday?

the druids of the Raven Queen, much like Jehovah's Witnesses don’t celebrate holidays

15. What is the best gift they could receive?

Maeve doesn’t really care much for material possessions

16. If they could instantly kill one person in the world without consequence, who would it be?

right now? nobody in particular. 

17. If they were in possession of a trio of wishes, what would their three wishes be?

reunite the planes as they were before the Planar War

make all ravens actually able to talk

have no limits on her Wild Shape

18. What is their favorite spell or method of attack?

turning into a bear and eating people

19. What are their guilty pleasures?

beer is a new one for her, and she’s a big fan

20. What is something this character is or could be addicted to?

talking to much. nascent alcoholism may also be a possibility
