Críticas | Aceptados (2006)

Una comedia básica con un desarrollo muy lineal, fácilmente olvidable.

Sinopsis: Un joven (Justin Long) es rechazado por todas las universidades y decide crear una ficticia para ser aceptado y lograr la aprobación de sus padres. Lo que debía ser un refugio temporal y secreto de un pequeño grupo de excluídos termina siendo el albergue de cientos de estudiantes engañados y en su misma situación.

La película tropieza continuamente con su propia esencia: la de ser una de estudiantes universitarios y al mismo tiempo apta para todo público. Sin ser infantiles, la mayoría de los chistes son muy poco efectivos para apenas esbozar una sonrisa, aunque posee algunos momentos donde funcionan. La inocencia con la que se abordan diferentes situaciones podría hablar de una falta de experiencia al momento de la construcción de la historia, la cual se sustenta sobre una base que es, de mínima, cuestionable. La introducción de elementos sin previa mención para el solo hecho de contribuir a la trama tampoco hacen del flim algo memorable. Algo que sí es para rescatar es la sutil crítica que hace al sistema educativo local, donde el proceso de selección puede dejar desamparado a quienes no reúnan determinadas condiciones que exceden al propio conocimiento, y donde la estructura tradicional de aprendizaje oprime las verdaderas voluntades de los estudiantes. La película recupera algo de vuelo en su escena final, en la que, aún sin papeles legales, los involucrados actúan como una verdadera comunidad.

New Trailer for Weird Lucid Dreaming Film 'Zen Dog' with Kyle Gallner

"I wonder, I wonder, what you would do if you had the power to dream at night any dream you wanted to dream." Future Park has debuted a trailer for an intriguing indie film titled Zen Dog, which is actually not about a dog (unfortunately). Zen Dog premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in the UK back in 2016, and played at a few fests last year, but it is only now getting a release some two years later. Trapped by daily routine, a man experiences complete freedom by dreaming himself across the country in a psychedelic VW with the guiding words of philosopher Alan Watts. Zen Dog stars Kyle Gallner as Mud, along with Adam Herschman, Celia Diane, Clea DuVall, and Devin Finch. Zen Dog (2018)

Mud (Kyle Gallner) has been trapped in his daily routine for a long time. He runs a struggling virtual reality startup that promises to transport users to exotic locations from the comfort of their homes. Plagued by recurring nightmares of a stranger’s suicide, Mud has a difficult time coping with his monotonous existence. One day, his eccentric cousin Dwayne (Adam Herschman) shows up at his doorstep, disturbing the comforting pattern Mud has created for himself. Dwayne introduces Mud to the power of lucid dreaming with the hopes that it will quell his nightmares. Thus Mud dreams himself into a road trip across America in a psychedelic Volkswagen. Finding himself experiencing a life without the usual comforts and meeting colourful characters, he starts discovering more than he initially bargained for.
