Weddings 101 with Dieter Bravo
Chapter one: Transportation? I'll Cover it
Dieter Bravo x plus size OFC (Maya)
Fanfiction 18+ (not this chapter but later chapters will be)
Main Masterlist / Dieter Bravo Masterlist / Weddings 101 with Dieter
Summary: Maya is just trying to be a good big sister. Yet, even the planes are conspiring against her. She encounters Dieter who who likes that sass and that ass. No candy was harmed in the writing of this chapter.
Warnings: Cursing, angst, self-doubt, bad jokes, Dieter being soft and cute, card games, body insecurities, brief mentions of drug use and alcohol, etc. (none too serious, that’s for later)
Notes: I've wanted to write Dieter for awhile and I'm glad that I was able to get a rough draft together, outline and now part one. I think it will be three or four parts depending on where I can take the story. I swear I did go over it several times while editing, but I was laughing at my own jokes, so there may still be some typos. 🤔
Tumblr media
“So, what you're saying is that even though I have paid three months in advance and have my confirmation code right here both in my phone and printed I don't have my seat on my flight?!” A woman stood with both hands on the counter, visibly frustrated but not yelling.
“Yes, yes ma'am that, that is what I'm saying I again I'm so sorry just so sorry.” The young man at the service counter apologized again. It’s all he could do.
“I mean I appreciate that you're sorry but it's not gonna get me on the flight. I need to be on the flight so that I can be at my brother's wedding. Is there another flight going out later today?” The woman asked, wiping her brow. She had worn a sweatshirt and leggings because it was supposed to be cold in the airport and on the plane. The young man tapped a few keys on his computer and looked up, his eyes wide.
“There is ma'am, but the flights aren’t going out until like, 10 tonight.” He broke the news. The woman groaned.
“Sir you you realize it's it's eight in the morning. How… how can there not be any more flights to Hawaii of all places until ten tonight?!” She questioned, that time she did yell. She felt it was ludicrous, the entire situation.
“Well ma'am it's it's based on availability and, and, and consumer interest and it looks like most people were were interested in morning flights. No one was really booking any of the afternoon flights so we cancelled those and just you know some people wanted the red eye flights. I mean we will give you vouchers for the price of your flight and an extra $250 for future flights with our airline. Because I feel like that that's exactly this time…” All she heard was that she wasn’t going to be in Hawaii by later today. Which meant she wouldn’t check in, then have to find another hotel, maybe it would be near the wedding venue if they even had any availability ….all horrible.
Maya rubbed her temples in defeat because she had planned that she was going to fly out in the morning from San Francisco where she was now and then fly the rest of the way to Hawaii. She was now stuck in San Francisco with no way to get to Hawaii on time to participate in her brother's weeklong wedding to albeit his lovely wife but fucking destination weddings man. The woman stepped away from the counter, her gray slip-on sneakers squeaking on the cool tile floor.
“Hey what's cooking good looking, you need a flight out?” A man in a gray robe, sunglasses inside an airport for some reason, a Gray T-shirt, striped Gray and brown pajama pants maybe and grey Crocs. He appeared to be holding a goat. He sauntered up to the service desk alongside Maya and leaned on it casually. The man had been keeping track of the exchange, it was much more entertaining than the random loud kids running around and all the stretched-out pants that said juicy and they were not in fact juicy. Instead, he found the loud woman to be much more succulent.
“I mean I do, but he said there's no more flights out. What? Are you going to give me your seat because I got a wide ass.” Mya put her hands on her large hips, she leaned forward on her right foot and her thigh jiggled. The man in the robe took notice of her hips. They looked like they’d swallow his fingers when he held onto them, he would like to know for sure.
The man laughed and replied, “No. I got a private jet and honestly, I'm tired of looking at just my assistant because he tells me all kinds of stuff I can't do or shouldn't be doing.” He pointed at a nervous young man who held a briefcase and a duffle bag. “You wanna ride with me Miss Toblerone? You seem fun.”
Perplexed, Maya considered both the man's appearance and the offer. He seemed like he had just rolled out of bed, was holding a goat but also had this really fluffy hair. Honestly, it just made her wanna smack his head and like play with his downy mop a little bit. The man had this little mischievous looking grin that was surrounded by a little mustache and facial situation going. It could be that she was tired from getting up at 3:00 in the morning to make sure she was at the airport packing up her crap and making sure that it was indeed the two carry-ons and one personal bag per the airline.  It could have also been the horrendous drive over that mostly was sitting in traffic for a ride that maybe should have taken 15 minutes but took an hour and a half. She had to factor the time in and also finding which gate after security, which security was its own monster in and of itself so at this point a pajama clad stranger with fluffy hair sexy grin and a goat was looking real good right now.
“Fuck it let's go, my name's Maya. I not particularly a fan of Toblerone though, they’re decadent. I guess it’s good to have one everyone once in awhile.” She replied to him and reached her hand out, he took one hand off the goat and shook it then held on to it a little too long. The fluffy man kissed it and trailed his lips up her wrist which the woman shivered a bit because it's like who who does that out outside of Bridgeton? Her new traveling partner said his name was Dieter Bravo which sounded familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. Just like she couldn't quite place him, she felt like she would remember if she saw any man looking like this, but she'd worry about that later right? Now she just really needed to get on a flight from San Francisco to Hawaii, so she gathered up her purse, her backpack and suitcase follow Dieter, but he stopped her and told his assistant to take her backpack and bag from her. Bravo then questioned why she had so few bags, Maya told him that she didn't want to pay the carry-on fees because it the price of the flight out here was outrageous already in addition to the hotel. Dieter asked why she was going to all the trouble, she told him it was for her youngest brother’s wedding.
“I think you can be more indulgent then that Toblerone. Especially for a wedding.” The actor took her hand and walked with her while the assistant got another person to help with all the bags, the majority were Dieter’s.
Dieter said once they got to Hawaii, he would look around for some more clothes for her. Maya laughed and said he's probably going to have to look hard for that stuff because she didn’t know if any of those designer stores there would have her size. Likely not, those mannequins are probably one of her thighs. Dieter grinned and told her that it was alright, there’s more to work with and to use. He then cleared his throat and said that he meant as far as fashion choices.
Maya had a feeling she knew what he meant. She had an extra bounce in her step at the thought giggled. She may consider it after they’re off the jet and they can find some privacy. She wasn’t into people watching her have sex.
Once at the jet they were greeted with two stewardesses in suspiciously short skirts, but the woman figured that's probably what Dieter or whoever Dieter’s people were had paid.  Honestly this was a completely free flight, so it didn’t matter how she felt about anything. Besides, how much were those stewardesses getting paid? Could it be a part time job maybe, it’s something to look into. The pair were served with sushi which was actually pretty lovely, she hadn't had California rolls in quite some time. Bravo offered her two of his, he enjoyed watching her put them in her mouth. He did offer some wine but she said she's not really into wine.
“We got a bartender over here tell him what you want.”
So Maya told the mixologist to make her some lemon drops which was basically lemon, lime, and vodka with a little bit of sugar added in it. Dieter said that he hadn't had those for quite a while so they toasted and took off toward their destination. It was when they were in midair, when Dieter took out a pack of cards and shuffle them saying that they were going to play poker.
“My dear sweet man, I'mma level with you. I don't know a thing about poker. The only card games I've played are go fish and Uno.” Maya chuckled as she continued to sip, the alcohol was making her slur already and her eyes were a tad glassy.
Dieter’s eyes widened.
“I haven’t played Uno for years! Finally, someone else who wants to play uno!”
He hopped up out of his seat which the captain had not turned off the seat belt sign, so he bobbed and weaved a little bit and went to somewhere in the back of the plane. Maya couldn't quite see where he went, the fluffy man grabbed little Uno box and Maya cautioned him by saying you know we should wait until the seat belt sign goes off because she wasn’t trying to bob and weave as well on the plane. After about thirty minutes, the sign did go off and then they were free to sit across from each other at a little table that was built into the jet. In setting up for the Uno game, the two flight attendants couldn't be bothered because they're just they're here to look hot, not for weird games. The young assistant was just so happy that Dieter had someone else to focus on, he was taking a nap because that man looked stressed, he was probably going to have gray hairs before he turned thirty.
“Toblerone, we got to make this game interesting though.” Dieter stated as he removed his robe and shuffled the card. “I’m gonna take this seriously.” His sunglasses came off next, serious indeed.
Maya scoffed, finishing off her drink and leaned forward. Removing her sweatshirt, she revealed she had on a pale pink t-shirt that read ‘Live loud and love long.’ She rested her elbows on her knees while Bravo delt the cards, she noted his triangle tattoo on his forearm and wondered how long it took to fill that in. She just had scars and stretch marks. Dieter’s eyes floated to her shirt and licked his lips. He found himself curious about the second part of that shirt.
“So, it's not just enough to be playing Uno in a private jet? We have to have stakes too? And my name’s Maya, not Toblerone. Still not a bad nickname though.” The plush woman picked up her cards and scanned them, not a bad hand, but not great either. “How often are you playing games with stakes in the air, lovely man?” She was trying to find a nickname for him as well, none sounded cool though. Dieter could have cared less, he soaked up any name she was willing to call him. Her voice sounded like smooth caramel to him. Wait, he had an idea.
“Yeah, I haven't really done it with anybody else for like a while.” He paused. Was he just talking about the cards? His assistant was normally troubled by Dieter’s lack of routine, but kept his schedule packed, which left little time for extracurriculars he was used to. The pregnant pause caused Maya’s head to tilt with her lips pursed.  “No, no, no, no. Scratch that. I do it all the time. Cards all over the place. On the walls, Several packs at a time. All the packs.” The croc clad man stuttered as he attempted to clarify what he meant, which just solidified what he said further. He’d won awards for his acting, yet his was doing a piss poor job right now. “If I win,” Dieter explained as he picked up his cards and looked at them, once of his hands held his chin, presumably deep in thought. He was but he felt like he embarrassed himself. There was no way she was going to agree to meet with him after they left the plane. “I get to keep calling you Kit Kat, Milky Way or Toblerone and you have dinner with me.”
Maya just stared at him smiling. “Dinner? I honestly thought you were going to mention cards on the ceiling and on the beach.” She waved her hand, their banter was one thing, but dinner? This man did not want dinner. He just wanted a fun night because his assistant has been cockblocking him. She wasn’t opposed, but she didn’t want to be a fun fat fuck for him either. It wouldn’t be the sex that would be bad, though it could be, she just didn’t want to wake up with that shame again or alone in bed as she had too often before. Her smile dimmed. “I’ll agree to the nickname game but not dinner. We ate here on the plane.” Her eyes focused on his hands, then lips, Maya couldn’t directly at his face. It was bad enough she was considering it.
Bravo noticed her demeanor change. The card talk had been too much. It’s not like he hadn’t thought of getting her in bed or wherever she would agree since seeing her at the airport. He didn’t want her to feel bad about it nor obligated. Maya had been fun to talk to, he hadn’t felt the need to snort or shoot anything yet. He wanted to know why, he thought dinner might help with that.
“What we ate wasn’t a full meal. I’m still hungry.” He played his first card, “I want dinner with you because I like you, Maya. For more than getting a quick thrill, plus if I don’t see you later, I won’t be able to use any of your nicknames.” Dieter flicked his chin toward her, indicating her move.
Smooth bastard. “Fine but if I win, I get to call you Sugar lips, soufflé or pretty boy.” Maya sucked her teeth and drew a card from the pile, she didn’t have the right color or number. She started to tap her foot nervously, this was dangerous. He was cunning, deceptively so. She hated that she was enjoying their wordplay.
“Wait the first one I get but why the second one? And why pretty boy? You called me man earlier Toblerone?” He was able to put down two more cards. Maya cursed under her breath and was able to be rid of one card on her turn.
“We’ll see how this game goes and that will tell me if I call you a man or a boy Dieter.”
Maya lost uno and Dieter decided he would keep Toblerone and Milky Way. He did tell her that she could call him Sugar Lips. He liked that one. Maya drank a second lemon drop as did Dieter. Now dinner was happening off this plane. He danced with his third drink, snaking his hips in a circle to music only he could hear. After polishing it off, he grabbed Maya’s hands and pulled her up to dance as well.
“What song are thinking of Sugar Lips? I can’t tell by your dancing.” The man’s laugh was infectious, and Maya started cackling as well. They spun around as once of his hands ran down to her side, grabbing a handful of her hip. He guided her from side to side, slowing down. His lips kissed the back of the hand he still held in his.
“No particular song. I just felt like dancing. I get to have dinner with you, my Toblerone. I’m excited.” Dieter answered, he kissed her jaw and met her eyes. His hand on her hip loosened as he started to circle his palm over her hip and part of her ass. “You’re soft Maya. Wanna find out what makes you that way. I feel like I need to, you know?” Her breath hitched with each of his touches, her resistance fading with each movement they took together. Would she make it to dinner?

CHICAGO, Illinois  — Pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel demonstrators blocked roadways in Illinois, California, New York and the Pacific Northwest on Monday, temporarily shutting down as part of a coordinated day of action against Israel’s war in Gaza.
In Chicago, protesters linked arms and blocked lanes of Interstate 190 leading into O’Hare International Airport around 7 a.m. in a demonstration they said was part of a global “economic blockade to free Palestine,” according to Rifqa Falaneh, one of the organizers.
Traffic in the San Francisco Bay Area was snarled for hours as demonstrators shut down all vehicle, pedestrian and bike traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge and chained themselves to 55-gallon drums filled with cement across Interstate 880 in Oakland.Kibbutz Nir
Similar protests were held across the United States and around the world, after the group A15 Action called for coordinating a “multi-city blockade… in solidarity with Palestine.”
“In each city, we will identify and blockade major choke points in the economy, focusing on points of production and circulation with the aim of causing the most economic impact,” the group said on its website.
Protesters marching into Brooklyn blocked Manhattan-bound traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge. In Eugene, Oregon, protesters blocked Interstate 5, shutting down traffic on the major highway for about 45 minutes. Protesters also blocked roads Monday in Philadelphia, and anti-Israel rallies were held in Los Angeles and other locations.
Tumblr media

Near Seattle, the Washington State Department of Transportation said a demonstration closed the main road to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Social media posts showed people holding a banner and waving Palestinian flags while standing on the highway, which reopened about three hours later.
Protests were also planned in Canada, Italy, South Korea, Colombia and Belgium, while the X account for A15 posted photos of demonstrations in Greece, Spain and Australia.

Emergency Alert System :: FEMA Emergency Action Notification
[ This is an Emergency Action Notification. ]
[ We interrupt our program at the request of the White House. This is a national emergency. The President of the United States or his designated representative will appear shortly over the Emergency Broadcast System. ]
[ The president of the United States appears on screen. The usual White House office is not visible, and a more dimly lit area without windows is identified. ]
"This nation has come under attack by unknown creatures, mostly reptilian in apperance. They are incredibly hostile to all human beings and seek to kill whoever they attack. The creatures come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from the size of an average human to a small building. Some of them even have fantastical appearances such as dragons and dinosaurs. This may all seem unreal, but that is currently what is happening right now."
"The attacks are occurring worldwide. We do not know what the purpose is, only that the creatures are determined to eradicate humans. The military has been deployed to fight back against these creatures. However, their sudden attack and numbers make it difficult to mount an effective counterassault.
"Once again, these creatures are highly dangerous. It is advised that if you are already indoors to find the lowest level and stay there. Do not go near the windows. Do not appear visibly present from the outside. These creatures will attempt to break in if they notice you.
"If you are outside, it is advised to go indoors immediately. If you are travelling via public transportation or car, it is advised you stop and do your best to hide if no buildings are available."
"We will get through this. Our great nation will fight for its people. We will do our best to keep everyone safe. Thank you."
[ This concludes our Emergency Action Notification. The message will be repeated in the following languages... ]
----
Los Angeles City Hall - Revision: Town Hall Website
To those that still alive and can read this, the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Los Angeles is a safe haven from the monster attacks. We have an angel here from god here that is combatting the monsters with all her strength, delivering justice with her mighty hammer and smiting these devils.
Many are currently taking refuge at the aquarium. Before our angel appeared, we are not sure why it has been left undamaged. Maybe it is because this is a holy place that hides us from the monsters' senses.
I repeat, if you are in the surrounding areas looking for shelter, head to the Aquarium of the Pacific if you can safely do so. Otherwise, stay where you are.
----
Honolulu Capital City Hall Website
All fights to and from Hawaii are grounded until further notice.
There has been severe disruptions to public transit and internet architecture.
If you are reading this, a safe zone has been established at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. We are however currently in the middle of a conflict between the sea monsters in the area and an unknown number of skeletal creatures. It is unclear whether these skeleton creatures are hostile to humans, though their actions have benefits us by combatting the definitively hostile sea monsters.
We advise to avoid the sea and air routes in the area until further notice.
----
Alameda Naval Air Station - San Francisco, CA - Military Orders
Memo: Golden Gate Bridge has fallen. Make appropriate accomodations.
A safe zone has been established at the Transamerica Pyramid. We have teams Metalhead, Seabound, and Crisis manning the defensive line. Reinforcements have been delayed due to the collapse of Golden Gate Bridge.
Small caliber firearms are ineffective against most creatures. Artillery and explosion munitions are required against medium-to-large monsters. Close combat is not advised.
There is currently an unknown entity that does not match the description of the reptilian creatures we are fighting. Allegiance unknown, and those who play the game Duel Monsters here are unfamiliar with the humanoid entity. As of right now, the entity's actions are benefiting us as they seem capable to take down a number of creatures solo. Do not engage if seen in the area and only assist if the entity appears to be in dire straits. If this entity's actions become hostile, let Baseplate know immediately.
----
Sacramento City Hall Website
The primary emergency shelter, the California State Capital, has been destroyed in the fighting. The secondary emergency shelter, the California Supreme Court, is currently full and cannot accomodate more people.
If you are in the Sacramento area, please stay put inside the building you are in. On top of the fighting between the military and monsters, there is an unknown green-glowing Duel Monster that is combating the monsters. A floating green skull marks his location. Avoid the area if you are currently in a safe place.
----
Domino City Museum || Domino City Hall
If you are reading this, there are designated safe zones established in Domino City. If you are close to either area, please either head for the Domino City Museum or the Kame Game Shop. Preferably the Domino City Museum given the lack of space at the Kame Game Shop.
Praise be to the King of Games.

Alex Griffing at Mediaite:
As pro-Palestinian protesters blocked major U.S. transportation infrastructure on Monday, from San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge to the entrance to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, one Republican senator joined Fox News to call for Americans “to take matters into their own hands.” Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) joined Fox’s midday news programming and was asked for his thoughts. “Well, I feel very deeply for all those people who are trying to get to work or trying to pick up a kid. Very worried about the diversion of police resources where it needs to be stopping crime and cities like San Francisco, where firefighters are having to go there when they might have calls for fires out,” Cotton began, adding:
[I have to say, Sandra, I agree with you that you have to get to these are these, criminals early? If something like this happened in Arkansas on a bridge there. Let’s just say I think there’d be a lot of very wet criminals that have been tossed overboard, not by law enforcement, but by the people whose, road they’re blocking. If they glued their hands to a car or the pavement. Well, probably pretty painful to have their skin ripped off, but I think that’s the way we’d handle it in Arkansas. And I would encourage most people anywhere that get stuck behind criminals like this, who are trying to block traffic to take matters in their own hands. There’s only usually a few of them, and there’s a lot of people being inconvenienced. It’s time to put an end to this nonsense.]
Anchor Sandra Smith replied, “Clearly, Senator, as we watch this together, and to your point about the way different cities and states can react to this, you’re obviously saying that in your state you would deal with this much differently. As you heard from Paul Mauro, speaking from a law enforcement perspective, they know that there’s cameras on them. They know, that they can’t obviously hurt somebody. And the removal of these protesters, there’s obviously a very delicate balance to dealing with this. And the longer it goes on. It would appear the longer it’s going to take to resolve it.”
Sen. Cotton posted on X, doubling down on the call to violently remove pro-Palestinian protesters:
Tumblr media
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) urging vigilante action to stop pro-Palestinian protesters (who he wrongly labeled "pro-Hamas") from blocking roadways is part of his call to violently remove protesters by any means possible.

A Day at a Baseball Game with the Volturi Masters : San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park
Tumblr media
Second up in the Summer Fun with the Volturi Masters, polled story series results.
You have managed to persuade Aro to fly the four of you to America to watch a baseball game, by convincing him it is a seasonal requirement of humans. Go to a game and support a team, or die. He is intrigued by this, unaware that humans have such laws. You run to the throne room where you find them sitting off to the side, studying at the table and reading old manuscripts in languages you don't understand.
Aro turns and moves quickly to your side. "Is something wrong, my dear?"
"Not at all, Aro," you reply, breathless. "I was able to acquire tickets to a baseball game in San Francisco, America! A luxury suite," you tell him. "Now, if you can provide the transportation to get there..."
Aro smiles. "Of course, we'll take one of the private jets and rent a limousine for our arrival at the airport. When is this...sporting event?"
"Next Tuesday," you reply, grinning.
"What accommodations have you acquired for us?" Caius asked, interested.
"They're called luxury suites, Caius, and they have various types. Ours will hold up to 20 people, so if you want to invite any of the guards to come..."
"Not this trip," Aro interrupts. "Perhaps later, we will go back, if we enjoy this venture."
"Well, the luxury suites have privacy, with interior seating, should it be sunny that day. And there are seats out in front of the suite, where we can mingle with our neighbors." You become more excited the more you describe the trip to the masters. "If you don't mind, Aro, they cater food. May I choose something to order for myself?"
"You have no need to ask, child. We don't want you starved," Marcus remarks with a small smile.
"It's not the healthiest food, and you know how our chef is." The Volturi's chef generally makes you healthy snacks, by order of the masters, although he will sneak fresh-baked cookies to you when he can. You see hot dogs, chips and dip, chicken tenders, and ice creme sundaes served in mini baseball helmets in your future.
Once all the arrangements have been made and approved by Aro, he calls the Volturi pilot to have one of the private jets made ready for a quick journey to America Tuesday next.
On the day you're to fly to San Francisco, you rise early and shower, and dress in jeans and a sweater shirt, knowing the city by the bay can be cool, even in Summer. Excited, you throw some things into a tote bag, and leave your quarters to go in search of the masters.
You find them in the throne room, waiting for you. You greet each with a hug and kiss on the cheek. Your smile is reflected on their faces. You hope they enjoy this sample of human sporting events, considering that they may have seen the original Olympic games or the gladiatorial games in ancient Rome.
Felix brings a car around the back gate for the drive to the Pisa airport. When you arrive there, you all head for the private jet gateway. The pilot, who is a vampire as well, is there waiting for you.
Aro goes to speak with the pilot while you, Marcus, and Caius enter the jet and get settled. Not the largest jet in their inventory, this one is suited for long hauls. There are four oversized seats at the back of the interior that face each other, while two sofas sit opposite one another and closer to the flight deck. Since there are only four of you, it is more than roomy.
The flight begins and you look out the window to see Italy fall away, but you know you will be back. It's your home now. Soon, you begin to think of the coming trip, short as it will be. You sit next to Marcus on a couch, and show him the brochure of the baseball stadium called Oracle Park. It sits on the San Francisco Bay, with their suite having great views of the entire park. The suites are high up in the stands, with interior and exterior seating. There is a small fridge that will contain drinks for you. You've also ordered one of the food packages that will be in the suite, waiting upon arrival. You haven't had an honest-to-goodness hot dog since you left home.
The limousine is at the San Francisco airport, picking you up for the ride into the city. It pulls up to the front of the stadium, letting you all out. It will come for you as soon as you call to let the driver know the game is over, or the masters have grown bored and wish to leave. You hope it won't be the latter.
Once you get out of the car, you inhale deeply of the bay air. You've been to San Francisco before and remember it with fondness. Smiling with excitement now that you're here, you check to make sure the masters are ready to go inside. "Come, Aro. This way inside, everyone."
The masters have dressed casually as suggested by you. All are donned in black jeans and grey or blue Italian wool pullover sweaters. You think them all very handsome, and notice more than one woman you pass seems to be thinking the same thing. You smirk when you ponder the fact that these men, these vampires, look at you as their companion and assistant, and trust you completely.
The group is met by a park docent, who leads you to the suite assigned to you. Marcus has placed his arm around you, feeling you need protection in this crowd. Aro and Caius lead the way, looking around with mild curiosity. You know they're probably thinking with distaste, "Too many humans". They have, of course, fed only a couple of days prior to this trip, and you've warned them to keep a low profile while here.
Finally, you reach your suite and enter the spacious unit perfect for private game viewing. You'd never be able to afford this on your own, but with the Volturi, money is no object. The docent hands each of you a team mini bat as a souvenir. The Volturi masters look at the strange object, but you thank the docent and close the door after he leaves.
"What are these?" Aro asks you, looking the small bat over, turning it around in his hand.
"It's a souvenir of the game. Some days, visitors get free items to take home. Today is what they call Bat Day.
Caius' eyes gleam when he begins to swing the bat around as if it were a weapon.
"Caius, put the bat down," you warn him.
"But they gave them to us," he protests.
"Not to use against anyone!" You hold out your hand, silently asking for the bat. Caius refuses.
"There is no one here in our private suite. I promise not to hit anyone with it while here."
You lean in and kiss his cheek. "Make sure you keep that promise."
Aro turns to you. "My dear, you do seem to be taking liberties with the freedom we give you. The way you speak to us..."
You move to Aro's side, placing a hand on his chest. "Master Aro, I love you all, and I just want to help protect you from discovery by humans." You caress his cheek and smile sincerely. "You have given me your trust. You and Marcus and Caius may be thousands of years old, but because you rarely leave the castle, you're actually quite naïve to modern ways. I can help with that, if you heed my suggestions. Please? You know how much I respect each of you."
Aro smiles and turns to you. "You're right," he tells you. "We do trust you, and look to you for knowledge of this modern world." He kisses you on your lips with typical familiarity.
You walk around, checking out the suite. Seeing a table to the side covered with bowls, you inspect them to see food inside. You grab a potato chip and dip it in a small bowl. "Mmm...ranch." Then you take a chicken tender and dip it was well, and go to check out the outdoor seating.
You stand where the seats are, perusing the entire stadium. "This is fantastic. Marcus, come look!"
Marcus comes up behind you, placing his hands on your shoulders. "It is larger than the Coliseum."
"You were really...there? I knew it," you say, laughing.
You excuse yourself to run to the restroom, and make a stop at the stadium store. You buy hats for everyone, wondering if they'll agree to wear them.
When you get back to the suite, you're wearing your hat and offer each master one. .
Caius sees someone wearing their hat backwards, so puts his on that way. You marvel at how easily he would fit into modern times with his blonde good looks.
Marcus  allows you to put his hat on him. His long hair is pulled back into a ponytail, and you admire him with your eyes and a smile.
Aro dons his hat and sits in his chair, his legs crossed, still acting as if he were lording over his realm.
When it's time for the game to begin, everyone stands for the anthem. As an American, you do as well, but the masters keep their seats. You just hope no one notices. When someone does cast a glare at the seated trio, you say, "They're Italian." The person shrugs and looks back at the field.
Caius sits on the far-left chair while Aro sits at his right. You are sitting next to Aro, with Marcus on your right. The game begins, and you explain what's happening whenever one of the masters asks a question. The game continues, the Giants currently ahead, 3-1 in the fourth inning.
You make a plate of food for yourself and grab a beer from the mini-fridge. The masters peer at your plate, unable to avoid making faces at what you are eating. You just laugh and eat more.
The next batter steps up to home, and misses the first two pitches. On the third pitch, the batter swings hard, and the ball flies straight and fast, right for your part of the stadium. Suddenly, you see Aro lift up his right hand, and the next thing you know, he catches the fly ball, bare-handed. You look at the jumbotron, with all of you on it, the camera pointed right at your box. The announcer is talking excitedly about the speed of that fly ball and Aro's bare-handed catch. The stadium is cheering. and Aro is smiling, enjoying seeing his face on the display, larger than life. You tell Aro to give you the ball, raising your hand in the air once he complies. You smile broadly at the camera, then go inside the box. Aro follows you, confused.
"You are upset. What is the matter?" he asks you.
"This is not keeping a low profile," you say, waving the ball around.
"It's not like I asked to have this ball thrown at me," he protests. "I thought it was well played myself."
You sigh and relent, hugging Aro while you apologise. "If you're not worried, neither am I. Being a good catcher doesn't tie you with being a...you-know-what."
When he smiles at you, you give him a wink. He returns to his seat while you go to the food table to fill a plate with more food. The hot dogs look good, so you make one up with mustard, relish, and onions. "It's too bad you can't eat any of this yummy food. I can't even imagine not being able to eat food like this." You sit down and take a bite of the hot dog.
Aro reaches over and with a finger, removes a dab of mustard from your mouth. You offer him your napkin to wipe it off his finger. He does so, and tosses the napkin in a nearby trash can. He then gazes at you.
You know why too. "Aro, I didn't mean that I won't. I will, eventually. You've never mentioned a deadline or forcing me." You reach up to touch the Volturi pendant that sits on his chest. "One day, you will place one of these around my neck, and it will be official."
"Aro, the game? Let's not discuss family business with our dear one, while the game is being played."
You take Marcus' hand and squeeze it, grateful for his intercession.
You receive the ordered ice creme sundae from a docent, who is told only one is necessary. You eat it from the souvenir mini baseball helmet, making noises while devouring the cold treat.
Caius starts to make denigrating remarks after what he deems a poor play. The man on a chair in the next suite hears him, and demands Caius shut up. Now Caius is angry at the human, and begins to wave the small bat.
The man rises from his seat and hangs over the dividing rail, blocking Aro, who is trying to hold back Caius and maintain his own temper.
You get up from your seat and tell the man, if he values his life, he had better sit down. The tone of your voice and the stare you give him, makes him back down, and he returns to his seat while muttering. "You see, Aro, I'll make a great one." You then face Caius, giving him a look begging his indulgence for the sake of peace, and to avoid getting kicked out of the park. He relents and sits down.
The last inning is being played, and the Giants are winning. People start to leave the park and Caius asks if it is over, since the players are still on the field.
'It's a thing," you tell him. "When the game looks like an obvious win, people leave early."
"Then shall we go?" he asks you.
"We can, if you wish," you say, going to put the rest of the food on a plate and covering it with several napkins. You put the now washed mini helmet into your tote along with anything you can take with you.
Aro leads you all out of the suite and goes back the way they come in, easily remembering the route.
You happily follow him, full and content. "Marcus, did you enjoy the game?" you ask.
"It was unusual. Not as exciting as the gladiatorial games, but interesting. Your team won, which is laudable. I enjoyed the company, child." He graces you with a smile, then again, places an arm around you to protect you from the now exiting crowd.
The limousine is waiting for you all, so you all climb in for the trip to the airport. You lean against Marcus, fatigue finally overtaking you.
The pilot is waiting outside the jet, and greets Aro, giving him the status of the flight, while Caius gets in, holding all the mini bats. Marcus picks you up in his arms and carries you inside while you hold your plate of food and the tote.
Once everyone has settled in, the flight takes off for the trip back to Italy. You look out the window, watching the city off in the distance. Then you snuggle against Marcus, sighing happily. You smile, grateful to be friends with such inquisitive vampires.

NOV 16, 2023
Extremist Republicans today shut down House business by refusing to pass a procedural vote to take up a spending bill, as they had threatened to do in retaliation for the passage yesterday of the continuing resolution to fund the government into the new year. This is the fourth time the extremists have defeated special rules in the House this year, and as deputy chief of staff for Representative Don Beyer (D-VA) Aaron Fritschner pointed out, their doing so is highly unusual. In the previous 20 years the House voted down no such measures at all.
Although they were in the middle of a 17-vote series, the Republicans then recessed the House until after Thanksgiving.
Members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus made it clear they are angry that their own demands are not being met. “We’re sending a shot across the bow,” caucus chair Scott Perry (R-PA) told reporters. “[W]e are done with the failure theater here.”
Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) angrily said to his colleagues: “One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing. One. That I can go campaign on and say we did. One! Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me, one material, meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done besides, ‘Well, I guess it’s not as bad as the Democrats.’”
In contrast, the Democrats with the same slim majority in the last Congress passed a series of sweeping bills that are already changing the country. Today marks the second anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act that invested $1.2 trillion—$550 billion of it new spending—in roads, water systems, electrical grids, broadband, bridges, and so on.
So far, that act has seen the start of more than 37,000 projects across the country. Bridges, airports, and supply chain projects are underway, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs. The Democrats today emphasized that they are delivering on the things that make people’s lives easier, and the White House listed a number of Republicans who voted against the measure only to boast of the benefits of the infrastructure investments to their constituents.
“And,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a video in which he echoed the tagline of the administration: “the great news is, we’re just getting started.”
The investment in infrastructure is part of what has created a booming U.S. economy. Growth is far better in the U.S. than in Europe or China, where a property bubble and local government debts have led to deflation.
That economic strength is standing behind President Joe Biden in San Francisco, where he traveled yesterday for a summit of the 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum (APEC groups economies, not nations). APEC economies make up almost half of world trade and about 62% of global gross domestic product.
Today, Biden met with Chinese president Xi Jinping in a much anticipated second meeting since Biden took office. But even before today’s discussion, the two leaders announced a new climate agreement. The U.S. and China are the worlds two largest climate polluters, accounting for 38% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.
China did not agree to phase out coal, which is the dirtiest fossil fuel, but both countries agreed to ramp up renewable energy capacity around the world and to reduce emissions in their power sectors overall. This is the first time China has agreed to cut emissions. In two weeks the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference will take place in Dubai. Observers hope the willingness of China and the U.S. to make this announcement, even with its limitations, will jump-start negotiations there.
Remarks by Biden and Xi before their meeting were cordial but tense. Biden emphasized that their “meetings have always been candid, straightforward, and useful,” telling Xi: “I value our conversation because I think it’s paramount that you and I understand each other clearly, leader to leader, with no misconceptions or miscommunication. We have to ensure that competition does not veer into conflict. And we also have to manage it responsibly—that competition.”
Xi responded that the China-U.S. relationship “is the most important bilateral relationship in the world,” and while it “has never been smooth sailing over the past 50 years and more…, it has kept moving forward amid twists and turns. For two large countries like China and the United States, turning their back on each other is not an option. It is unrealistic for one side to remodel the other, and conflict and confrontation has unbearable consequences for both sides.”
In their four-hour meeting, the two leaders agreed to recommence military communications more than a year after China broke them off when then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan. The two countries also agreed to strengthen cooperation on stopping the flow of what are known as precursor chemicals—the chemicals needed to make street fentanyl—which are produced in China and shipped to drug operations primarily in Latin America. The U.S. has cracked down hard on that trade; additional Chinese cooperation will be welcome.
They agreed to continue to work together to address climate change, as well as to address the risks of artificial intelligence.
On the rest of their discussions, concerning Taiwan, human rights, the Middle East, and Ukraine, the two leaders “exchanged views,” according to the White House readout. Later in the day, meeting with business leaders who have grown nervous about investing in China, Xi assured them that China wants to be friends with the U.S., and “does not seek spheres of influence, and will not fight a cold or hot war with any country.”
In his remarks welcoming APEC leaders this evening, in the city of the famous Golden Gate Bridge, Biden emphasized the power of building bridges to span space and time, the past and the future. He spoke of connecting diverse communities: “All across the traditions, cultures, and languages, we find the common dreams we share for ourselves and for our children.”
Biden urged his audience to “take full advantage of this summit to make new connections and spark new partnerships, because every step we take to deepen our cooperation, to launch a new venture, to tackle the challenges that impact on all of us is a step toward realization of the enormous potential of our Asian Pacific future…, a future where our economics are strong, vibrant, and sustainable because our workers are empowered and protected; women and girls are full and equal participants in every aspect of our society; young people…can envision for themselves the lives and hope for unlimited possibilities.”
The strongest tools we have to meet this era’s challenges, he said, are “connection, cooperation, collective action, and common purpose. That’s why we’re all here.”
Late tonight, by a vote of 87 to 11, the Senate passed the continuing resolution to fund the government into the new year. One Democrat and ten Republicans voted no.

In an apocalyptic vision of Bay Area public transit, BART cancels its weekend service and shutters nine stations just to keep the lights on elsewhere. Trains run once an hour, instead of every 15 minutes. San Francisco’s Muni buses crawl around on life-support, and the East Bay’s AC Transit eliminates “numerous local lines.” Ferry service across the bay is halved.
This is not a doomsday fantasy, conjured up on a paper napkin. These are real scenarios drafted by the region’s transit agencies in a series of federally mandated planning documents obtained through a public records request by the Bay Area News Group. The grim projections come as the region’s commuter trains, buses and boats struggle to recover from massive ridership declines during the COVID pandemic and burn through the remaining federal relief funds that have helped keep them operating.
“People don’t understand the transit system is so close to collapse,” said Ian Griffiths, who heads Seamless Bay Area, a transit advocacy group. “They’re on the brink.”
How bad could it get? A closer look at the documents sent by each agency to the region’s umbrella transit group, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, provide a rare regionwide accounting of what service cuts could look like under dire fiscal outlooks. This is what is possible, they say, unless Bay Area taxpayers and state leaders in Sacramento pony up more money to revive the ailing system.
BART: Terminating two of five train lines – Red and Green – meaning no more direct trains from Richmond and Berryessa to San Francisco.
Caltrain: Slashing service amid a $50 million deficit, even as its $2.4 billion electrified trains hit the rails.
AC Transit: “Numerous local lines” reduced or fully discontinued.
Ferries: Major midday and weekend services slashed across the bay. Service expansions to Berkeley, Redwood City and Mission Bay halted.
Muni: Entire network returns to pandemic-era levels with frequency reductions starting on bus lines 2, 6 and 21
The scenarios – akin to transit planning war games – also provide a window into alternative versions of the Bay Area’s post-pandemic future.
In the most optimistic scenario, Bay Area commuters return to pack trains and buses every day. Connections are fast and reliable as city centers and tech campuses hum with life. But a darker picture is emerging as downtown San Francisco and Silicon Valley slog through growing tech layoffs and warning signs flash of an impending recession.
Service cuts could dwarf those seen during the Great Recession and the dot-com bubble. Canceled trains leave people stranded. Car owners flee transit and pack highways. Only the Bay Area’s most desperate residents rely on the crumbling network.
Bobbie Barlet would be among those stuck riding a curtailed BART. She relies on the train every workday to commute from Antioch to Oakland International Airport. “People have no other option. This makes a huge difference,” said Barlet. Her request to agencies who may soon be eyeing service cuts: “Please don’t.”
At the heart of these transit planning scenarios is a clarion call from the region’s transportation planners: They need more money – a lot of it – not to build shiny new stations, or fashion a second tunnel under the bay, but just to keep their systems running. In the coming five years, the Bay Area’s seven largest operators face a cumulative $2 billion operating deficit, according to the MTC, which oversees regional transit financing.
What is driving the crisis? One of the nation’s worst ridership collapses. Agencies like Caltrain, BART and Golden Gate Ferry built their existence on funneling commuters in and out of downtown San Francisco, but now many of us are comfortably working at home. “It’s not just a potential recession. This is a real change in behavior and ridership,” said Jason Baker of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. “Transit as we know it is in serious jeopardy.”
But pandemic-era ridership losses, while significant, are just one part of the problem. There are issues that have long plagued transit budgets, including rising labor costs, inflationary pressures and a history of overspending and inefficiencies. Prior to the pandemic, taxpayers subsidized operating costs for Bay Area transit systems by roughly 50% to 85% depending on the transit agency in charge, sending billions each year through sales and property taxes, bridge tolls and even parking tickets.
“You add up all these problems, and for them to step forward and say ‘there is a doomsday scenario, give us your taxes’ – it’s a hard pill to swallow,” said state Sen. Steve Glazer from Orinda. “Now they want to basically ignore the meal and have taxpayers pay the check.”
At San Francisco’s Muni for instance, even in the best-case scenario – where riders pack buses and will soon crowd the Central Subway, the $1.95 billion light rail project that opened on Saturday – the agency is projecting long-term service cuts of 21% across bus and rail, compared to pre-pandemic levels.
“The cost of the service has increased,” said Jonathan Rewer, the chief financial officer at SFMTA, which runs Muni. He cited a labor contract that increased wages by 11% over three years starting in 2019, rising fuel costs and other inflationary pressures.
Each agency now faces its own financial deadline, known as a fiscal cliff, when the billions of dollars in federal assistance they received over the pandemic run dry. Their cliffs differ in time and size depending on how efficiently the agencies stretched relief dollars, along with their own unique budgetary puzzles and the impact of byzantine federal funding formulas.
First comes Caltrain, which is projected to open up a $25 million budget hole as soon as next year, followed by Muni and the Golden Gate bus and ferry district. BART’s fiscal cliff is likely in 2025. The VTA’s is pushed to 2027 due to healthy sales tax revenue, according to their financials, but funding for the Santa Clara County agency could be upended by recessionary pressures.
Officials are quick to emphasize that their doomsday projections are a “paper exercise,” not a policy decision and did not account for the prospect of fare hikes. There are often budgetary moves transit operators can make to stave off the worst cuts. Still, officials said the trends summarized in the exercises hold true.
Potential cuts are biggest at BART, the regional rail spine, where service could plummet by 80% in what transit planners refer to as a “death spiral.”  The severity is caused by the high fixed costs of running a train system, the agency said. In order to cut its way out of a budget crisis, BART would need to slash service so deep that riders would flee causing even deeper budgetary wounds and a cycle of ridership losses.
“You’re cutting service until people can’t get on the train,” said Michael Eiseman, BART’s financial planning director.
Buses, which are more readily able to scale service, could see cuts ranging from 15% at AC Transit, the East Bay’s biggest bus operator, to 25% for San Francisco’s Muni, compared to pre-pandemic levels. “Ten percent cuts have happened before and even they were pretty grim,” said Peter Straus, a former service planner for SFMTA, which runs Muni. “There’s no way that San Francisco could swallow a 20% cut in service without some pretty drastic impacts on people’s lives.”
The future of the Bay Area’s transportation network – one that forms a vital social safety net, and reduces traffic and carbon emissions – is at stake, according to transit advocates. But there’s also a key tension to agencies’ calls for more money: Will the state and local taxpayers be willing to invest more dollars in a lagging transit system that is moving fewer people and taking fewer cars off the road?
State Sen. Scott Wiener is among the lawmakers pushing to rescue transit as budget negotiations restart in January. Regional transit officials are hoping the state will provide a bridge over the fiscal cliff for the next five years as they prepare a multibillion-dollar local ballot measure for 2026 or 2028. But they face headwinds. The state of California is now facing a projected $25 billion budget shortfall.
The loss in transit service would “completely explode congestion on our roads, it would undermine our economic recovery and it would deeply harm low-income workers,” said Wiener. “We can’t let that happen.”

Arrivals - 01
My computer beeped with a new alert as I sat monitoring security cameras for the San Francisco airport.
NEW SUBJECT: SCOTT ALEXANDER JACOBS
AGE: 25
HEIGHT: 5' 11"
WEIGHT: 175lbs
EVENT: BOARDING PASS SCANNED IN CHICAGO (FLIGHT UAL1063 seat 13C)
OUTSTANDING WARRANT - RECKLESS DRIVING (CVC 23103) & FLEEING FROM AN OFFICER (CVC 2800.1) & FAILURE TO APPEAR (CVC 40508(a)). DETAIN FOR TRANSPORT TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY JAIL.
I looked at the clock and set a note to be ready down at the gate in 4 hours. I pulled his file, printing out the paper arrest warrant issued by a judge down in LA County and reviewed it confirm that all of the details matched.
Half an hour before the plane was due to touch down, I walked down to the gate and spoke with the gate agent, informing him that I would be detaining a suspect on this flight and asking him to inform the flight crew. I additionally asked that he have the flight crew discretely confirm the seat that Mr. Jacobs was in so that there would not be any trouble getting to him.
I rode with the jetbridge operator, standing by the door as it was disarmed and opened, and stepped in. A flight attendant greeted me, and I walked down the aisle of the 737 to seat 13C. As soon as I stepped into view of the body of the plane, a murmur spread across the anxious, but fortunately seated passengers.
I followed the flight attendant down the aisle, stopping at row 13 as the flight attendant continued on two rows to be out of the way.
"Are you Mr. Scott Jacobs?" I asked, looking down at the passenger seated there. Scott looked back up at me, his mouth opening and closing twice before he finally spoke. He was dressed for comfort, in a Pink Floyd t-shirt and grey sweatpants.
"Yes, officer. Can I help you with something?"
"Sir, I need you stand up, step into the aisle facing away from me and put your hands behind your back." I said, slightly resting my arm on the headrest of seat 12C, unintentionally causing them to duck out of the way.
"What is this about officer?" Scott asked, not moving.
"I will explain everything, but right now I need you to do as instructed so that we can get out of the way of all of these people." I said, gesturing to the plane and drawing his attention to everyone's eyes (and phones) glued to him.
He reluctantly stood up, having already unbuckled his seat belt as soon as the plane was parked at the gate. He stepped into the aisle, facing away from me, his face ashy. He put his hands together behind his back, interlacing his fingers in a sort of praying position. I stepped up behind him, withdrew my chain ASP handcuffs from their holster and unfolded them grabbing them by the chain. I quickly rocked my hand left and right, and the cuffs zipped themselves around his wrists. I drew out a key and inserted it into the keyhole, turning it the opposite direction to activate the double-lock. I squeezed the cuffs confirming that they were double-locked and would not tighten further.
"Sir, do you have any luggage with you?"
"Yeah," he said, turning his head as much as he could to the left. "My backpack is under the seat and I have carry-on in this compartment." He nodded to the bin above his seat. I grabbed his backpack, and the flight attendant helped me by grabbing the suitcase from the overhead compartment and following me up the plane. I turned Scott towards the front, and held his arm walking sideways through the aisle as we made our way off the plane.
Once off the plane, I hefted his backpack onto my shoulder, grabbed the suitcase from the flight attendant, and grabbed Scott by the left arm. I walked him, his hands still clasped behind his back, restrained by the short chain of the cuffs, up the jet bridge. As soon as we were in the concourse, I turned him to face a wall and parked his suitcase next to him.
"Sir, as I said, I will explain everything. I have a warrant here for your arrest signed by a judge in LA County."
"What for?" He asked, turning his head to face me standing to his left.
"Reckless Driving and Fleeing from an Officer. Which ordinarily would not lead to pulling you off a plane in handcuffs, but, it appears you signed a promise to appear on those two charges, and failed to do so. So, the judge has kindly asked me to come and make sure you keep to your appointments." I explained, holding up the printed warrant with the judges signature in the bottom right.
Scott turned and faced the wall, his face flushing red. He gently bounced his head off the wall several times.
"Don't worry, sir. This will get taken care of. However, you will be a guest of the California Department of Corrections until everything is sorted out."
"Now, before we go any further," I say, shifting my tone to a less conciliatory, more business-like tone, "I do need to frisk you. Do you have anything on you that is going to poke me or stick me?"
"No." Scott said, defeated.
I carefully frisk my latest captive, my hands moving over his t-shirt, feeling his pecs, his side, his back, his abs. I lift his shift and feel around the waistband of his sweat pants, them falling slightly to reveal the waistband of his Calvin Klein underwear. I put my hands in his pockets, removing his wallet, phone, and headphones. I paused and deposited all of those in his backpack, before returning, wrapping my hands around each of his legs, starting up against his crotch and moving down to his ankles. I lift the cuffs of his pants and check his socks before finally standing.
I grab his backpack, swinging it onto my back again, and his suitcase before grabbing his arm. I turn his around to see that the passengers have started deplaning, and there is now a slowly moving line of passengers gawking and moving slowly, having watched the entire frisk and now seeing their fellow passenger being walked away in cuffs.
I led Scott through the busy airport, continuing to draw glimpses and the occasional snapped photograph or video as my prisoner was escorted through the airport. Finally, mercifully, we stopped at a locked security door that I badged my way through, and when it closed we were left in what to Scott must have been blissful isolation.
We walked down a long hallway and through another security door, arriving in the police duty station. I walked Scott over to one of a pair of barred cages against one wall, adorned with just a a bench. I had him step inside, and closed the door. I pulled his hands through a slot in the barred door and unlocked the cuffs around his wrists, returning them to the holster on my hip.
"So, here is what is going to happen from here. I am going to catalog and inventory your possessions. Then we are going to get you set up for a drive down to LA."

i don't have a question about how you can afford these dates, but mroeso how you travel there? what kind of transportation do you take? (Car, plane, etc) i'm lowkey curious.
I live in California so for Santa Clara and LA we just drove there!! (By we I mean Karina because I am the passenger princess) For Santa Clara we stayed in a hotel because my friend has points so we stayed there for free and in LA I’m saying in an Airbnb w a group of friends (which is the only time I’ve paid for lodging for any of my shows) But for the rest of the shows I’ve been to I’ve been flying with spirit lmaoooo I’ve been saving money on flights by flying from whatever city nearby is cheapest, I def have an advantage by living in California so there’s a lot of airports close by. So for Minneapolis I flew out from San Francisco and I when I went to KC I flew out from LA because those were the cheapest options!!! For all of my out of state shows me and karina have only gone to shows that we have family or friends we could crash with so we didn’t have to pay for lodging!!! I definitely would not of been able to afford to go to all of these shows if I had to pay for a place to stay lmaoooo

“My guy just said Aleks told him I asked him to come to Vegas, so he’s on his way here. I didn’t ask him.”
Amir’s words ring in Svetlana’s head on a repeat. When he initially arrived in Vegas after stopping in San Francisco to check on the restaurant and mother while settling his girlfriend into safety, he told her all about Aleks’ sketchy behavior at the news that Dom had miraculously survived the shooting. That was already enough for her to believe he was behind the attempted hit. The fact that he immediately followed Amir to town without direction is only further evidence in Svet’s eyes.
Svetlana sends Maks to retrieve Aleks from the airport and transport him to a secure location just outside the city where she and Dom are already waiting. She sends word to Amir that they have him and he takes the opportunity to return home to attend to his own pressing matters. She wishes him luck and reminds him of her offer, that if he needs help she would always have his back. He thanks her and declines, knowing she has enough on her plate at the moment.
Headlights shine through the windows at the top of the bay window to the warehouse where Svetlana and Dominic wait impatiently. She is pacing back and forth in front of the empty chair that sits in the middle of the room. Dom is in his own chair, a few feet back, watching her. “You’re going to burn a hole through the ground.” He teases her only to be met with a glare that only lasts a moment before her expression softens, unable to help herself when he smiles at her.
The bay door starts with a creak, rising to open as the SUV that just pulled up rolls in. Svet finally stops pacing and is now standing with her arms folded across her chest. Her face is a mask of rage as she watches Maks open the trunk and hauling an unconscious body out and slamming it none too kindly into the interrogation seat. He zipties Aleks at the wrists and ankles to the arms and legs of the chair and steps aside. Svetlana approaches, wasting no time as she lifts her hand and strikes him across the face a few times until he finally rouses. Unsure of his surroundings, he struggles for a moment until his gaze lands on her. Realization dawns on him and fear fills his eyes. A predatory smile spreads across Svet’s lips as she sees it and nods. “Good, you know why you’re here.”
The fear on Aleks’ face turns to indignation as he feigns bravery despite having already shown his hand. She laughs at this, a bitter sound, and this time her hand is balled into a fist when it connects with his face. “Your death could be quick, merciful even, should you choose to do this the easy way.” Svetlana tells him once he recovers from the blow and is once again looking at her. She sees the war on his face as he tries to decide the path he wants to take to his inevitable fate. Patience wearing thin, she strikes again. And again. The sight of her husband in a heap on the floor, blood pooling around him burns behind her eyes. The sound of his labored breathing and choking on his own blood rings in her ears. Her fists fly with reckless abandon and it’s not until she hears Dominic’s voice that she's pulled out of her blacked out rage. “Svet…enough.”
Aleks is barely conscious when she finally stops throwing punches. Her knuckles are covered in blood, both her own and his. One of his eyes is already swollen shut and his teeth are stained red. His head hangs forward in exhaustion so Svet grabs him by the hair, pulling his head back and forcing him to look at her. “Speak.” She tells him, eyes narrowed and when he doesn’t, she pulls a butterfly knife from the back pocket of her jeans. In a swift motion, she flips it open with one hand and stabs downward, the blade sticking into his thigh all the way to the hilt. “Now.” She growls through grit teeth and finally the truth comes spilling out of Aleks’ mouth along with a mixture of saliva and blood.
Aleks’ reasoning is exactly what they had suspected. He felt slighted after being loyal and hardworking for so long. That the marriage between Svetlana and Dominic was unearned and far too powerful. He thought that taking Dom out would lead to a panic and a lapse in power, giving him an opportunity to shoot up in rank. He even believed he’d have worked himself into good enough graces to become her next husband once all the dust had settled. It was this statement that drove her to pull the knife from his thigh and lift it to his throat. Once again, the only thing that stops her is Dom’s voice. “Remember your promise.”
Svetlana does and with a sigh pulls the knife from Aleks’ throat. She stabs it into his other leg before turning her back on him and walking away, back towards her husband. Nodding to Maks, he emerges from the shadows with his gun in hand. Rather than shooting Aleks, though, he hands it to Dom. “He’s all yours.”
