Mount Temple and the Bow River from Morant’s Curve (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southwest while taking in views from Morant’s Curve along the Bow Valley Parkway in Banff National Park. My thought on composing this image was to pull back on the focal length and include foreground interest with the Bow River and some nearby forest. Mount Temple and other ridges and peaks of the Bow Range would be a backdrop for this setting in the Canadian Rockies.

Mistaya River and a Mountain Backdrop with Mount Sarbach and the Canadian Rockies (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: This whole day was magical with the mountains all around...what an amazing view at pretty much any turn! This is at Mistaya Canyon with a view to the South and West. For this image, I loved the river flowing through the glacial valley...nature in action over the eons of time. I know many talk about their piece of heaven being this city or tropical beach. This setting in the mountains is it for me, whether Alberta, Montana, Alaska, Colorado...any place there's big, huge, magnificent mountains!

Refreshing My Spirit with Views of Mountains and the Bow Rivers (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at the Castle Mountain Viewpoint with a view looking to the north along the shoreline of the Bow River. While the Icy Mountains Are Far From Me, I Think of Them Often (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at Morant’s Curve and the overlook there to the Bow River and mountain peaks and ridges off in the distance. The view is looking to the west. This location is along the Bow Valley Parkway in Banff National Park. With this image, I decided to pull back on the focal length and have a wider angle view. By angling my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, I felt I was able to create more of a sweeping view across the river and forest leading up to the mountains. That angling of the camera also brought the mountains higher into the image and helped create more of a sense of grandeur with those ridges and peaks.

Mountain Peaks Around the Valley of the Ten Peaks (Black & White, Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view to the southwest at Morant's Curve. Based on the azimuth/direction from this location, I was able to determine that off in the distance were Ten Peaks around the Moraine Lake area. With information from peakbagger.com, I was able to determine the most visible peaks of Mount Bell, Mount Babel, and Mount Fay.

A Bridge to Cross in Banff National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking around the Castle Mountain Viewpoint with a view looking to the east=northeast to a bridge crossing of the Bow River. This is in Banff National Park. With no traffic present then, I used that time to line myself up to compose a leveled-on view with the bridge crossing. I worked to get a good focal length to include some of the nearby trees and mountainside as a backdrop.
