"The callousness of it all struck Obi-Wan profoundly. Units. Final product. These were living beings they were talking about. Living, breathing, and thinking. To create clones for such a singular purpose, under such control, even stealing half their childhood for efficiency, ..."
"Obi-Wan looked up at the Kaminoan, to see his eyes glowing with pride as he looked out upon his creation. There were no ethical dilemmas as far as Lama Su was concerned, Obi-Wan knew immediately. Perhaps that was why the Kaminoans were so good at cloning: their consciences never got in the way.
Lama Su looked down at him, smiling widely, prompting a response, and Obi-Wan offered a silent nod.
Yes, they were magnificent, and the Jedi could only imagine the brutal efficiency this group would exhibit in battle, in the arena for which they were grown.
Once again, a shudder coursed down Obi-Wan Kenobi’s spine."
Star Wars - Episode II - Attack of the Clones Novelization
My favorite thing about Padme, besides everything, is how she’s constantly putting herself in horny jail and then paying her own bail like 5 minutes later
It’s so interesting to me that in the Attack of the Clones novelisation, when Jango was talking about Boba, he described him as ‘one of the thousands of sons’ he currently has. And then, literally in the next page, he said he doesn’t care for the clones because they’re all used for a war that has no use for him, a bounty hunter, who only finds love in Boba, his only true perfect clone.
Jango, my dude, the word ‘son’ clearly means nothing to you, because you describe Boba as your son, your one true pride and joy, and yet the clones are also your sons, who you could not give a damn because they’re a means to your pay check. I mean the only empathy he shows for them is when he thinks they shouldn’t have age acceleration because experience is key to their progress and they need time to hone on that (sounds familiar, doesn’t it), but other than that? Blind eye. He’s a selfish human being, and is horrible in this time and space even if he’s good at what he does, but he’s so appealing as a character in that way to me. Jango Fett, the galaxy’s dubiously okayest dad ever.

“Why do I think that you’re going to be the death of me?” Obi-Wan commented above the clamor.
“Don’t say that Master.” Anakin replied seriously. And the intensity of his tone surprised Obi-Wan. “You’re the closest thing I have to a father. I love you. And I don’t want to cause you pain.”
“Then why don’t you listen to me?”
“I will!” Anakin said eagerly. “I’ll do better.”
- R. A. Salvatore, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
i have recently learned that all three of the prequel books are in my classroom library and your commentary has me so close to reading them should i do it?
ohh you MUST read revenge of the sith. i beg of you lolol please read that. it is S tier star wars where every page has something beautiful, profound, or funny on it; the combat and the description of the force are both perfect. it elevates the material in a way that is surprising and devastating. 10000000/10.
the phantom menace by terry brooks is a solid star wars novel. it has some lovely moments, and some good action with insightful characterization. while it doesn't have any lyrical poetry sections or transcend its genre like rots, it's still a fun read and complements the movie well. 9/10.
the attack of the clones...... deeply skippable. it's like r. a. salvatore just put two lines of clunky exposition around each line of dialog in the script he was given and turned it in. there's no exploration of character or enjoyable prose or action, nothing that deepens or improves the movie. it's shallow, rote, and deeply infuriating to me. 2/10 salvatore can catch me outside.
I am reading Attack of the Clones novelization and while most of it follows the movie word for word there are some parts that have never made it into the movie, and the part that describes the mess that is Anakin Skywalker from the moment Obi-Wan jumps out the window
until Anakin finds a speeder
is one of the most hilarious things.
He's trying to go through things, he forgets what the layout of the building he is in looks like... Just look at this:
“See to her!” was all that Anakin explained as he scrambled past them, running full out for the turbolift.
Anakin was in no mood to wait for a turbolift. Out came his lightsaber, and with a single well-placed thrust the Padawan had the doors open, though the turbolift car was nowhere near his floor. Anakin didn’t even pause long enough to discern if it was above him or below, he just leapt into the shaft, catching hold of one of the supporting poles, and spinning downward. His mind whirled, trying to remember the layout of the building, and which levels held the various docking bays.
Suddenly a feeling through the Force alerted him to danger.
“Yikes!” he yelled as he looked down to see the turbolift racing up at him.
Grabbing on tighter to the pole, he held his open palm downward, then sent a tremendous Force push below to propel himself back up the shaft, keeping him ahead of the lift with sufficient speed for him to reorient himself and land, sprawled, atop the speeding car.
So basically he jumped down a turbolift shaft without looking and ended up a pancake on top of the turbolift.
Again, whipping out his lightsaber, he stabbed it through the catch on the lift’s top hatch. Ignoring the shrieks from the car’s occupants below, Anakin pulled open the hatch, grabbed the edge as he shut off his blade, then somersaulted into the car.
“Docking bay level?” he asked the pair of stunned Senators, a Sullustan and a human.
“Next is sixty-something,” but Anakin slammed the brake button, and when that didn’t work fast enough for him, he reached into the Force again and grabbed at the braking mechanisms, forcing them even more tightly into place.
All three went off the floor with the sudden stop, the Sullustan landing hard.
He used the Force to stop a turbolift which was already stopping because what are a few broken bones of Senators when Obi-Wan is in danger.
THEN. HE. FORGETS. HOW. TO. OPEN. A. TURBOLIFT. DOOR.
Anakin banged on the door, yelling for it to open. A hand on his shoulder slowed him, and he turned to see the human Senator step by, one finger held up in a gesture bidding the eager young Jedi to wait.
The Senator pushed a button, clearly marked on the panel, and the turbolift door slid open.
But what happens when you Force stop a turbolift? It doesn't align with the floor.
With a shrug and a sheepish smile, Anakin had to fall to his belly and squeeze through the opening to drop to the to the hallway below. He ran frantically, left and then right, finally spotting a balcony adjacent to the parking garage. Out he ran, then vaulted over a rail, dropping to a line of parked speeders. One yellow, snub-nosed speeder was open, so he jumped in, firing it up and zooming away, off the platform and then up, up, heading for the line of traffic flowing high above.
He tried to get his bearings as he rose. What side of the building was he now on? And which side had Obi-Wan flown away from? And what angle had the fleeing probe droid taken?
As he tried to sort it all out, Anakin realized that only one of two things could possibly put him on Obi-Wan’s trail, dumb luck or …
The Padawan fell into the Force yet again, searching for the sensation that he could identify as his Jedi Master.
Of course Anakin couldn't think but he can always sense his Master :)
WHY didn't this make it into the movie 😭 It would have made this exchange even funnier
I was reading this post were they tell you the age of a character, and I kind of came to the realization Breha Organa and Obi Wan are between the same age.
Obi Wan is, I think, 24/25 in the Phantom Menace, so that makes him 10 years older than Padme. In Queen's Shadow by Johnston it says that Queen Breha was “more than 10 years older than Padme” so, I want to think Breha is between 11 and 15 years older than Padme, so, if that's the case.
Breha by the times of the Phantom Menace is between 25 and 29 years. By the times of Attack of the Clones Breha is 35-39. By the times of Revenge of the Sith Breha is 38-42. By the Kenobi series she's 48-52 and by A New Hope she's 57-61.
And that brings me to think about Bail's age, many of the fics I have read about them portrays them with Bail being way older. But I'm not sure if a larger age gap is canon.
Queen's Hope epilogue says that “Breha met a boy who loved her enough” (this is more my speculation but still), what I get from here is that they met when they were both kids or teens, so they were still just a boy and a girl. So I want to think Bail is just a couple years older than Breha maybe even the same age.
And you know what's funny about this? That Bail would be between a year or more OLDER than Obi Wan, and still Leia tells Obi Wan “grandaughter maybe” and making jokes about him being old enough to be her grandfather
Okay I have returned of a rational spirit since the last caption ! 😊 (1:12.7) I also have time to talk about it.

First highlight, Hayden remembering his first meeting with Ewan with such precision more than 17 years later tells how much this moment is special to him. (00:00)
Then, look at the way he describes their times spent together. The memories that remain resembles an ideal romance, a lost paradise of them in their little world on the other side of the earth, free from everything. (00:23.6)
And that's when I discovered, a few hours ago (1:12.7) that, after these 4 months of shared moments due to the filming of Star Wars episode 2, Ewan and Hayden decided to continue to see each other, their "closeness" having "outlasted" Star Wars : we learn Hayden spent Easter with Ewan's family, and that, when he was performing on stage 'This is Our Youth' (1:30.5), in London, he "rides pinions on expeditions" on Ewan's bike, and loved to take his daughter Clara to the park.
Good luck now to convince me this is something else than a love story, it won't be easy!💕😅
This story happened a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. It is already over. Nothing can be done to change it. It is a story of love and loss, brotherhood and betrayal, courage and sacrifice and the death of dreams (Matthew Stover, Revenge of the Sith novel).
