October 7 | Al Jazeera Investigations
It is the first time I see this amount of footages from Oct 7 attack, and it's just jaw dropping...
This documentary is obviously overwhelming. I have been trying to gather my thoughts and find words to express a perspective. But then at the end of this video, the last statement made by Azzam Tamimi summarized it all quite accurately :
"The price paid by the Palestinians is terrible, that is true. It's hefty, but pinpoint to me one struggle for liberation in which there was no costly price - Vietnam how many millions perished in Vietnam in order for Vietnam to become free? So you see there's no easy way, there's no small price for freedom and for independence; and the Palestinians do understand that."

26 March 2024: King Abdullah II reiterated Jordan’s unwavering support for Palestinians’ steadfastness on their homeland and in their homes and holy sites, as well as in defending Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Speaking at a meeting with Jerusalem Islamic awqaf representatives and church leaders, as well as Jerusalemite figures, His Majesty reaffirmed Jordan’s rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinians.
The King stressed the need to stop continuous Israeli violations in the West Bank, especially in Jerusalem and its holy sites, warning that settler violence and escalation will lead the entire region into the abyss.
His Majesty said an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza is a top priority in light of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip, noting that Israel has to allow the immediate delivery of adequate aid to all parts of Gaza.
The King reiterated that Jordan in making every effort to support Gazans through all possible means, and to end the war, whose unjust, brutal, and destructive reality has become more evident to the international community, as the global stance towards the measures taken by Israel is starting to change.
His Majesty underscored the need to reach a political settlement to achieve peace on the basis of the two-state solution.
During the meeting, Jerusalem Awqaf Department Director Mohammad Azzam Al Khatib thanked the King for his efforts and unwavering position in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, stressing the important role of the Hashemite Custodianship.
He pointed to the current siege on Al Aqsa Mosque’s gates to limit worshippers’ access and measures that threaten the historical status quo.
Tamimi also commended Jordan’s efforts to support Gazans through field hospitals and aid delivery.
For his part, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III commended His Majesty’s historic role as Custodian of Christian and Muslim holy sites, expressing gratitude for the King’s “unwavering support and tireless work for peace, reconciliation, and humanitarian action”.   He commended Jordan’s efforts in making humanitarian aid drops over Gaza, thanking His Majesty for supporting Jerusalem’s churches in the face of major challenges.   Patriarch Theophilos III said the moral imperative to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and shelter the homeless is common to the monotheistic traditions, and “we cannot abandon this fundamental commitment”.   He warned of the misuse of moral values as well as Biblical verses and teachings to justify sacrilege against holy places and violence against human beings, adding that the heads of the churches stand against such manipulation of religion for political agendas.   Meanwhile, Jerusalem Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Hussein expressed appreciation for His Majesty’s stance in defence of Al Aqsa Mosque and his support for Jerusalemites.   He warned of Israeli measures in the holy city, especially at Al Aqsa Mosque to set up checkpoints that limit worshippers’ access.   Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa said celebrations of Palm Sunday this week were incomplete “because our relatives, families, and parishioners were not able to come as has been the case every year”.   “We all support the efforts undertaken by Your Majesty the King to send humanitarian aid to Gaza. The Christians in Gaza highly extend to Your Majesty greetings, appreciation, thanks, and gratitude for all the assistance that Jordan has provided, continues to do so, and will continue to do so in support of the brothers and sisters in Gaza,” he added.   The cardinal said Christians in Jerusalem, despite their dwindling number, live in historical brotherhood with their Muslim brethren, and yearn for a final solution that brings to reality the two-state solution.   Expressing best wishes to His Majesty on the Silver Jubilee, Cardinal Pizzaballa thanked the King for his continuous efforts to care for and protect Christian and Muslim holy sites.   For his part, Mustafa Abu Sway, a member of the Jerusalem Awqaf Council and a Professor of Ghazali Chair, noted Jordan’s efforts in support of Gazans, adding that Tuesday’s meeting embodies coexistence by bringing together Muslim and Christian figures from Jordan and Jerusalem.   He warned of the consequences of extremists’ exploitation of religion and their selective interpretation of the Holy Book to turn Al Aqsa Mosque into the temple, calling for concerted efforts to counter extremism.   Chairman of the Higher Presidential Committee of Church Affairs in Palestine Ramzi Khoury expressed appreciation for His Majesty’s support for Palestinians’ rights, highlighting the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship in countering attempts to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites.   Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, Awqaf Minister Mohammad Khalaileh, and a number of officials attended the meeting.

In response, Sheikh Mohammad Azzam Al-Khatib Al-Tamimi, director general of the Waqf and the Al-Aqsa mosque, responded with an anti-Israel statement that also denied any Jewish connection to Jerusalem at all:
I thank the Franciscan delegation of Jerusalem, the Vatican delegation, for this visit and for your solidarity with the authority of the Waqf in Jerusalem, which is experiencing a difficult time due to the continuing Israeli violation against the Al-Aqsa mosque. Today's meeting has a historical significance and we can say that it follows the previous visits of the Supreme Pontiff Francis, to our properties (Waqf) and to our Al-Aqsa mosque, and it is a clear and solemn message based on Christian-Muslim coexistence  and your continued support for preserving the historical status quo in Islamic and Christian shrines according to the agreements established before the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967. The model of peaceful, Islamic and Christian coexistence in Jerusalem has lasted for 1400 years, but unfortunately we cannot forget, but condemn the wars and attacks against houses of worship, against the faithful and the innocent inhabitants of the Holy City and consider these acts an anomaly in the history of Jerusalem.
The "three monotheistic religions" of the Vatican message has been reduced by one by the Muslim representative. He is saying that the Jews have been attacking the holy sites of Jerusalem - and have no right to be there.

Corbyn is an old man who, like Boris went to a posh boy private school . Corbyn is worth £3 million whereas Boris just £2mill Corbyn is married to coffee milionairess Laura Alvarez who pays her foreign workers a starvation wage. Corbyn is friends with every enemy of Britain, he hates the armed forces and the queen and the whole idea of Britain and the British. Boris is nothing like him. You said "The country is on its knees" , no it isn't , but Venezuela Corbyn's favourite socialist company is. The Venezualans have eaten all the zoo animals, all of their pets and are now eating out the back of refuse wagons. Regarding the public sector debt, ...wasn't it Labour who left the note in the treasury saying, "There's no money left".? "There are foodbanks everywhere" not really, there are around 1,000 or more. I always thought foodbanks were run by the kind hearted vicar in the scouthut next to the church, I took time to research this and was amazed to find out the truth... Foodbanks in our communities are not due to starvation but due to a giant company called The Trussell Trust who are better than McDonalds in aquiring sites and rolling out franchises for these sites. In short The Trussell Trust produces foodbanks for the sake of The Trussell Trust, it is a self sustaining foodbank producing network. This is how it works; The Trussell Trust approaches a company and persuades them to open a foodbank in that companies name, this is cheap for the company as The Trussell Trust is a charity and uses the charity money. The company pays franchise money to The Trussell Trust and the foodbank is set up. The food is donated. Staff work voluntarily The company and The Trussell Trust look great . While all this big business is going on a great deflection is made and the finger of blame as you have done is pointed at the government. CEO of The Trussell Trust is Emma Revie, her wages are £70,000 per annum. Why not checkout this swishy company and all it's highly paid directors and staff below?

I'm still a bit undecided about my vote direction this coming Thursday.
I've obviously taken into consideration what I consider to be the following swaying points on the two main parties.
On the one hand the Conservative Boris Johnson is a bit of a rascal with the ladies and can sometimes bend the truth a bit, he’s also a bit posh.

Islamic State Silent on Baghdadi Death as It Searches for Successor
Islamic State supporters have responded with silence and disbelief days after the death of their leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, suggesting a breakdown in the command structure of the Sunni militant group trying to agree on a successor.
There has been no official statement or mourning on Baghdadi on Islamic State’s (IS) official Telegram channel since U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday his killing at the hands of special operations forces in northwestern Syria.
Its Amaq news agency Telegram has been continuing business as usual, posting since Sunday more than 30 claims of attacks in Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan and Iraq praising its fighters.
There has also been less chatter among jihadist supporters on social media compared to the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in 2011 and other militant leaders.
Analysts said the remains of Islamic State’s leadership were in a state of shock probably trying to keep the group together and agree on a successor before confirming Baghdadi’s killing.
“There is probably right now chaos inside what is left of the leadership. Key aides have been killed and documents destroyed,” said Hisham al-Hashimi, an Iraqi expert on militant groups.
“They will want to agree on a successor before announcing the death,” he said, adding that a split of the group could delay this.
The group might also need to rebrand itself since using Baghdadi’s declared Islamic caliphate was no longer appropriate having lost the swathes of Iraq, Syria and Libya its fighters used to control until 2017, analysts said.
Many of Baghdadi’s followers were also killed, Trump said on Sunday.
On Tuesday, he wrote on Twitter the U.S. military had likely killed the person who likely would have succeeded Baghdadi as Islamic State leader. Trump did not specify who he was referring to, but a senior State Department official on Monday confirmed the killing of Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir, Islamic State spokesman and a high-ranking IS figure, in an operation separate from the one that killed Baghdadi.
It took al Qaeda, another Sunni militant group following a similar ideology which carried out the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, several days before it confirmed the killing of Osama bin Laden in a U.S. raid, said Aymenn al-Tamimi, a researcher at Swansea University focused on Islamic State.
About six weeks passed before the group announced a successor to bin Laden.
“Islamic State could announce the death in their weekly news letter which could come out on Thursday if they were able to agree on a successor,” said Tamimi.
He said Hajj Abdullah, a deputy of Baghdadi, was his likely successor, provided he was still alive.
There had been conflicting reports before whether Baghdadi was still alive after the Islamic State lost its last significant territory in Syria in March, resorting since then to hit-and-run guerrilla tactics.
His last audio message was in September.
DEFIANCE
There has been less chatter online among supporters of militant groups compared to times when militants were previously killed.
Social media platforms such as Twitter are now quicker at deleting accounts linked to militants, while several Arab countries have stepped up online surveillance. That forces users to constantly change encrypted accounts.
Of those Islamic State supporters who went online after Trump’s announcement following an initial stunning silence, many voiced disbelief or dismissed the news as fake.
A Telegram account linked to IS warned supporters not to believe an alleged image announcing the death. The message ended with “God almighty preserve him (Baghdadi)”, suggesting the poster still believed Baghdadi was alive.
Other supporters seemed ready to embrace his death, urging supporters to continue the jihadist fight in any case.
“Whatever happens the jihad convoy moves forward and will not stop even if the state is annihilated,” one supporter wrote on a personal Telegram account.
Tamimi said there was not much mourning as many militant supporters were glad to see Baghdadi dead because he had in their view damaged the jihad project by his group’s cruelty by meting out punishments such as amputations of legs and hands.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Sunni group formerly known as the Nusra Front and which dominates Idlib in northwestern Syria where Baghdadi was killed, praised his death.
“The only regret they had was that they hadn’t killed him instead of U.S. forces,” said Tamimi.
In contrast to Islamic State, supporters of al Qaeda quickly accepted Baghdadi’s death, according to the U.S.-based SITE Intel Group which monitors jihadist websites.
“How much blood has been shed in the name of his imaginary Caliphate?” posted Sirajuddin Zurayqat, a former official in a former al Qaeda-linked group, Brigades of Abdullah Azzam, SITE said.
Late on Monday, hardline Saudi Sunni cleric Abdullah al-Muhaysini also published an 18-minute video praising Baghdadi’s death, urging followers to quit IS.
“For some, Baghdadi’s death might be the final straw to quit the group and go back to al Qaeda,” said Elisabeth Kendall, senior research fellow in Arabic and Islamic studies at Oxford University.

King Abdullah said Jordan’s position is clear and will not change, telling the attendees: “We stand with you in the face of challenges.”
During the meeting, attended by Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein and Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, His Majesty expressed his best wishes to the attendees on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.
The King voiced appreciation for King Mohammed VI of Morocco for his support for Jerusalem, commending the level of coordination between the two countries in this regard.
His Majesty also commended President Mahmoud Abbas and highlighted the excellent coordination between the Jordanian and Palestinian sides.
The King stressed the need to maintain coordination between mosques and churches, and among churches to counter challenges.
For their part, the attendees thanked His Majesty for his positions in defence of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and in supporting the Palestinians as they seek their just and legitimate rights.
They stressed their commitment to the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, noting its importance in safeguarding these holy places.
Jerusalem Awqaf Council President Abdul Azim Salhab commended the King’s efforts to counter violations targeting Jerusalem geographically and demographically, underscoring His Majesty’s role in safeguarding the Islamic and Arab narrative against distortions.
Jerusalem Awqaf Director Mohammad Azzam Khatib Tamimi highlighted the King’s efforts in safeguarding Al Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, as well as other holy sites.
Despite all the difficulties, he voiced confidence in His Majesty’s firm position in defence of Jerusalem and its holy sites, in line with his Hashemite heritage, highlighting a number of Hashemite restoration projects in Al Aqsa Mosque, in addition to training courses provided for the awqaf department’s cadres by Jordanian institutions such as the Civil Defence Directorate and the Public Security Directorate.
In remarks by Patriarch Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City and all Jordan and Palestine, delivered on his behalf by Archbishop Christoforos Atallah, Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Jordan, the Patriarch noted the importance of having the Jerusalem awqaf and church councils meet in Jordan.
Patriarch Theophilos III voiced confidence in the King’s clear stance on the need for a just and comprehensive solution for the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem, and the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Patriarch acknowledged the immense pressures Jordan is under for its honourable national positions, stressing that all are united and committed to supporting His Majesty’s leadership to overcome this difficult phase.
The King’s policies are a continuation of the Pact of Omar, the Great Arab Revolt, and the practice of Hashemites throughout history, Patriarch Theophilos III said, noting His Majesty’s efforts to promote harmony, coexistence, and peace.
The Patriarch said the Church denounces those claiming to be Christian and calling for “legitimising the Jewish entity”.
He thanked the King for his “generous donation for the Church of the Holy Sepulchre” to help implement needed renovations.
Supreme Sharia Judge of Palestine and Adviser to the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs Mahmoud Habbash conveyed President Abbas’ greetings to His Majesty and noted the deep Jordanian-Palestinian ties, as well as the high-level coordination between the King and President Abbas in safeguarding holy sites.
In Jerusalem, Habbash said His Majesty’s name is connected to the Hashemite Custodianship, stressing that Jordan is the first defender of the Palestinian cause.
Head of the High Follow-Up Committee for Palestinian Citizens of Israel Mohammed Baraka thanked the King for the Royal Makrumas to support Arab Israelis in providing scholarships, facilitating Umra and Hajj, and offering economic support.
Baraka described Jordan as Arab Israelis’ gateway into the Arab world and towards other components of the Palestinian people.
He also stressed the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship as a shield to safeguard Jerusalem’s identity and history, expressing rejection of Israeli measures to Judaise the city.
Baraka said the recent assault on worshippers and encroachment on Al Haram Al Sharif by settlers in the last days of Ramadan reflect the Israeli government’s disrespect for the sanctity of the city, freedom of worship, and international law and agreements.
His Majesty hosted an iftar in honour of the members of the Jerusalem Awqaf Council and Jerusalem Church Council, Jerusalemites and representatives of Arab Israelis.

Can political violence ever be morally justified?
The phrase ‘one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter’ is one that has been cited since 1945. If so, what sets the two apart? Are violent actions of freedom fighters justifiable, or were political revolutionaries actually ‘terrorists’?
Al Quds day is an annual event traditionally held on the last Friday of the Muslim month of Ramadan, first practised under the Iranian Government post-Islamic Revolution. The aim of International Quds Day is to express support for the Palestinians and oppose Zionism and the state of Israel by protesting in major cities internationally. In 2017, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan called British Home Secretary Sajid Javid urging him to outright ban Hezbollah, and its Palestinian ally group Hamas,  and to officially name them a ‘terrorist’ organisations so that their respective flags were not flown at these non-violent protests. So why is it that the Israeli Defence Forces (responsible for more civilian casualties than both Hezbollah and Hamas combined) are in arms relations with 32 (known) nation-states worldwide? Who and what defines the term ‘terrorism’?
Terrorism is very broadly described as ‘the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims’. If we were to look at this statement in its essence, it would seem that admired historical figures throughout history fall under this definition yet aren’t deemed ‘terrorists’. To see how far people defined actions of renowned people of influence as ‘terrorism’ as opposed to ‘freedom fighting’ I did what most 21st Century girls would do- I created a twitter poll during a bout of insomnia. (The thread is here for those who would want to access it: when is something terrorism? .) The results of these aren’t as informative as I would want to be due to the ‘I don’t know’ option (which, however, is completely understandable as most of my followers are not as aware of the details of these people’s lives), but provided interesting insight. Hamas are deemed freedom fighters, and Nelson Mandela and Malcolm X were both categorised as terrorists. The question that I was most intrigued to see the answers for were ‘if these violent stances encouraged societal progression in the past successfully do you think they can work in today's day and age/contemporary issues?’ and ‘can 'terrorism', then, be justified?’. Both these questions were met with a ‘no’ with a large margin, but it is important to examine why millennials voted so considering the same voters believed Malcolm X’s ideas endorsed terrorism but were justified.
Well, the first thing to point out is our definition of terrorism, while stated above, is viewed differently in practice. It was, after all, within our lifetime that George Bush declared the ‘War on Terror’ and we were first seeing the implications of terrorism in the Western world. Terrorism truly had served its purpose to ‘intimidate’- it had not only taken innocent lives but challenged the very hegemony of the world’s most powerful state, and in turn, threatened every developed Western ally. Terrorism previously had never operated on such a global scale- it was contained within borders and regions; even ISIS, who by name operates in Iraq and Syria coordinated and took responsibility for violent attacks worldwide. This leads our perception of terrorism to hit closer to home and associate it with unadulterated mass bloodshed. We are quick to undeniably label ISIS, the Taliban and Al-Qaeda as terrorists, but the lines are blurred when looking at individuals like Mandela because we are not aware of the mass attacks he not only condoned but orchestrated under the MK wing of the SACP. We are aware, however, that Mandela went to prison in his lifetime- but do not recognise that this is because he pleaded guilty to 156 acts of public violence. It is undeniable that Mandela’s movement led to the eradication of the apartheid. Would this be achievable without his political violence, however?
Palestinian writer Dr Azzam Tamimi states that diplomacy is only a viable option when two parties are willing to negotiate (understandable) but also when the opposing force accepts that they are in the wrong. His view on the Israel-Palestine conflict is one that he compares to Mandela and South Africa- in order for there to be peace negotiations, the Israelis need to accept and admit that they did occupy and colonise rightful Palestinian land, the way the white minority eventually accepted the violence and racism during the apartheid. In the meantime, he states that Hamas will continue its armed resistance, and indiscriminate violence will take place because ‘grievances are never addressed’. Hamas’ political violence is because they are not being paid attention to by major outside governments, let alone the one they are opposing.
It’s simple to say that blood does not move the wheel of history forward. It undeniably does, but considering it the most moral and efficient way for us to move forward is a mistake. After all, the common man holds some knowledge of the suffragette movement, but only some recognise the suffragist movement. The suffragists were peaceful and wrote letters to the Houses of Parliament requesting voting reform. The suffragettes acted out, with hunger strikes and riots, and it was their behaviour that pushed the British government to give women the vote. It is not to say that it was the best way to do so, but British parliament didn’t take suffragists seriously and became aware of the divide the suffragette movement was creating in society. It was after the cooperation on both sides (the government for releasing prisoners who advocated suffrage, and suffragettes for recognising the need to end their aggressive methods) which lead women to have the vote in 1918. Violence is a natural reaction to injustice, human beings often don’t behave rationally when they feel they have been treated badly- but the only way to gauge a positive outcome out of such campaigns is to identify mistakes on both sides and to engage in discourse.
I am back and trying to write shorter sentences! yay! progression! - Kanza
