I keep thinking of a Mobrei soulmate AU to the tune of the fic Polarity by Writeous specifically where you have a soulmark but the TRUE bond is that whenever you share blood with your soulmate, you travel back in time to a time they needed support as an invisible phantom that can only interact with them—and I'm just picturing the first time Reigen and Mob swap blood to confirm and Reigen getting yeeted back into a chaotic nursery room in the middle of the night, tiny ???% Mob floating above his crib crying and wailing as his things fly around him at high speeds and his parents watch helplessly from the doorway. And Reigen, who literally probably learned about his tiny soulmate like ten minutes ago, considering—sighs and just scoops the wailing baby Mob out of the air and holds him. And, since ???% is the one awake, he can see Reigen and is able to interact with him more before Mob calms back down and wakes back up. By then, Mob's parents (why do we never get their NAMES) have kinda scolded themselves for not helping their own child and being afraid of him, enough that this became a moment his soulmate needed to step in, and they come in to take back over—thus Reigen's first big change to Mob's life.

Reigen, however, had a very different experience with his soulmate and is incredibly reluctant to activate the bond after they've confirmed it—because while Mob and everyone else thinks it's platonic, Reigen, who has experienced far more soulmate visits than Mob has at that point, knows that it isn't. But of course, like fate always does, circumstances have them activating the bond far more than he'd like. He's there, afterwards, for every moment Mob needs him, like a delayed memory.

Because he still remembers every time Mob was there for him, even if he doesn't know it yet.

thoughts on the kageyama brothers hug when they were captured in claw arc?!

cuz in my heart i don't think they ever really Touched after That™? but i do think mob and reigen have this whole thing with Casual Hugs and Physical Intimacy and the like between them (a feel for another time) but i can't think of anyone who ritsu could get that comfortable with?? so?? i think it was like he rediscovered what human touch actually felt like at that moment??

anways im just thinking about ritsu coming into mob's room like a week later being like Brother i can not take this anymore i NEED you to do the thing again right NOW:-< and mob just stares at him and ritsu starts gesturing vaguely, but then mob immediately gets it because that's the exact same vague gesture he did when he asked reigen for a hug years ago (<-they are so brothers who share similar mental illnesses)

I think one of the funniest but also saddest but also most accurate to being thirteen moments that ritsu has is when he's like "I have secretly always hated you, brother. our relationship is OVER" and then the next time they interact, he gets a hug from his brother and immediately breaks down into tears. I love him.

I agree that it's probably been a while for both of them tbh. the kageyama family doesn't seem like the most touchy family, but they probably still got the occasional hug from their parents, but they're at that preteen age where it's less frequent. it's wild to me that I can't think of any times where mob and reigen actually hug, but I think reigen probably gives him little side hugs and shoulder pats and hair ruffles or whatever, but you're absolutely right in that ritsu didn't have anyone for that except his parents after The Incident :( I think after the confession arc, "going back to how things used to be" means they get more comfortable asking for comfort again

Mob psycho is crazy bc i have seen so many spoilers and truly have never registered or understood any of them i watched season 1 and thats it and i forgot everything. I only remember tome's name bc of fandom content. I have no idea who serizawa is all i know is him and reigen are gayce losers together but not together bc collectively theyre too stupid to realize the other one also is so theyre weird coworkers or something. I have no idea what the fuck the blond kid's name is.

thinkin abt that one reimob fic where mob absorbs a lust curse and the only way for him to survive is to have sex w whoever he saw first (reigen), yknow, the fic which seems to be abandoned

it leaves off with reigen convincing himself its gonna be ok, mob will (probably) be ok, and the worst thing that will happen is mob hating him and reigen accepts that as a possibility bc hey, at least he'll live?

mob is laying on the floor, writhing, grabbing at his pajamas

desperate and fully consumed by heat and desire that he doesn't know how to satiate

reigen leans over him, brushes a hand through his bangs so he can get a good look at mob

he looks like agony, desperation overflowing from him

reigen tells mob "it's going to be okay, mob"

"you're going to be okay"

he's still convincing himself with the words

the "please don't hate me" goes unsaid

he reaches down to unbutton mobs shirt, revealing smooth, pale skin with hardly any hair still. he ignores the discomfort he feels, focusing on mobs safety

mob whines as reigen slides his fingers down his abdomen, lingering just above the waistband of mobs pants, and reigen wishes the sound didn't stir something in him, deep and locked away

he keeps his eyes on mobs face as he pulls down his pants and boxers, not daring to look between the boys legs

reigen whispers again, "it's going to be okay," mostly to himself this time

he's surprised when mob responds between huffs, "you... don't. have to... shishou,"

reigen just stares at him, amazed. mob is so kind, so considerate. he knows mob heard what would happen if he didn't. mob knows this is life or death.

he takes a deep breath, "I know, mob, but I'm going to," he pauses, "I can't lose you"

mob flushes even more, somehow, and reigen pushes away the knowledge that mob definitely has feelings for him, that's a topic for some other day, when mob isn't.

dying.

he mentally waves away the word

mob will be okay

he's going through with this

he draws a breath and reaches down to grab mobs erection, ignoring the sirens in his brain, and mob lets out a sharp moan, almost painful sounding

reigen cradles his face with his other hand, "is it too much?" he asks

mobs eyes are closed tight, hands gripping at the futon. he shakes his head, though, breath leveling as he works to calm himself down

reigen nods, begins to stroke him slowly, carefully

he desperately hopes that this will be enough, but deep down he knows it won't be

(and even deeper, a tiny part of him that he refuses to acknowledge doesn't want it to be)

he shushes and whispers soft placations to mob as he works him to orgasm, mobs unfiltered groans and moans of pain and pleasure unceasing until finally, mob comes. his whole body clenches tight, curling inward

for a moment, mob simply breathes rapidly, and reigen thinks it might have worked

a snore interrupted him. mob was fast asleep

that made sense, reigen supposed, considering what mob had just endured

he could feel sleep pulling him in as well, and he figured he could properly apologize after sleeping

they slept there, still tangled in each other, uncertainty and anxieties temporarily forgotten

yup! so about that au... what's mob's feelings about teru? does he care about him? does he try to give him the benefit of the doubt? does he hate everything about him but thinks he's attractive? would love to know lol

so to answer that I'm gunna explain that the au is structured like this:

canonically, mogami wants to teach mob to be selfish, and to draw from negative emotions. he uses minori to do it; she bullies him until he snaps and mogami lets him reawaken to his powers in a violent context.

in this au, teruki comes with to the exorcism and ends up possessed to bait mob. except once mogamis in his head he's like oh YOU get it. that's exactly how teru was living as a kid. so you're going to teach him what you already knew how to do.

so mob wakes up in the mirror world freshly transferred to black vinegar and is immediately latched on to by edano and other boys in his gang. this draws terus attention to mob after a few weeks and he starts isolating him to bully himself (terus pretty obsessed w mob anyway, so that thread gets pulled, but also 🏳️‍🌈❓).

it builds until mob awakens to his powers to get teru off his back and teru pounces on it for a hierarchy fight immediately. he's ELATED to find another esper (in the show he says he has so many questions / stop rejecting me / don't leave me) so they throw down but mobs powers are tuned to lose the fight, so teru snaps him up to be his guard dog.

from terus perspective he's just found the perfect disciple. they're two of a kind. and he becomes VERY possessive of mob, and in turn, mob has the traits easily influenced & deeply loyal, so even if he feels prickly about terus attitude, he sucks like a magnet to his hip anyway bc hes the closest thing mob has to a friend.

they're both very lonely and ultimately scared kids right. so the enmeshment is pretty immediate and they start spending about all their time together bc the alternative is an empty grey city. mob fights most of terus fights for him, and thru it develops a much more physical outlet for his emotions (as opposed to verbal gentleness that is largely taught by reigen).

which.. leads to rubs when teru does stupid shit to get mobs attention and it works Too Well bc mob has no idea how to communicate it so he gets In terus personal space, pushes him around, gives him these autistic Stares but ultimately neither of them actually know how to wrangle the like oh God he's a life raft to me and I want to kiss him emotions so they act out stupid instead.

it's like.. idk I want to see their traits laid out in a more toxic light but also they're still obsessed with each other. and ultimately yeah mob does learn to be a lot more selfish and to use his powers for personal gain and teruki has to experience what his life would have been like if mob didn't check him. for fun. and flavor.

and boy does it make for the most awkward post arc reunion ever bc they get back to reality and reigen and dimple are like OH THANK GOD and then they look at each other and it's like. uhm. where do I even start lmfao

I have a lot of specific scenes in mind but mostly that's the gist. pls feel free to talk to me about it tho it's my pet project

thinking long and hard about serizawa telling reigen that he’s in love with him unplanned with no expectation of his feelings being requited bc something makes him realize that reigen needs to know that he’s loved. like, seri makes the decision to say it fully prepared to ruin the partnership they built bc he can’t bear thinking about reigen not being certain that he’s treasured and wanted.

more reigen is dead and a ghost now sillies ft. mob all grown up. a couple other things under the cut

bonus older (~40s) mob bc im happy w her design. luckily her and reigen's designs just came out of the pen pretty naturally not many iterations necessary. mob's felt like a natural progression from my ~24 y/o design, and i kinda feel like reigen never really changes up his look, he just. ages. he's gonna be wearing a pink tie when he's like 80 (well, i mean not in this au, but, yknow). im kind of dreading designing the others.. i think tome should be pretty easy i have a fairly clear vision of her in my mind but i;m not so sure about serizawa. i know im gonna give him a beard though. others may come into this eventually if i get the ideas for it . i feel like designing older shou would be fun in particular

anyways. this sort of started cus i wanted to make an 'intro' comic to the au besides the post i already have, but i couldnt figure out a good way to get what i had in mind to a comic.. basic 'story so far' is that while off on a job at like.. ive had it as a parking garage in my mind for some reason. anyways, reigen serizawa and tome* out on a job, you know the story from the other post, reigen falls down some concrete stairs REAL badly, bonks his head right on the edge of one, beefs it.

(*tome at this point has her own job stuff going on- Professional Ufologist Babeeey you KNOW she's gotten interviewed for ancient aliens. BUT she still does stuff with s&s when she can.)

he comes to kind of gradually, like, feels like he's been walking for half an hour but onl having just become aware of it. he doesn't realize he's dead for a bit, just kind of feels 'floaty' and not-quite-there, with a vague awareness that Something Has Gone Wrong. he keeps walking, unable to remember what he was just doing, and finds himself drawn to mob's place, and fully realizes Something Is Super Wrong when he tries to knock on the door and his hand goes right through. meanwhile on the other side of town serizawa and tome are having a supremely bad time. things'll settle down when everyone learns reigen's not Entirely Gone but it's Not good at the moment

(also, something im not sure yet how to resolve is that tome wouldnt be able to see reigen?? hes a very weak spirit so hes not visible to your average non-esper and i dont know if he'd even be able to possess anyone either (in the sense that tome could see dimple after being possessed by him).)

also so imprtant to me that mob has a cat that's very important
