Disney Television Animation Starts 40th Anniversary Celebration At Annecy Film Festival

There's so much to do, getting ready just for you to celebrate #DisneyTVA40 at Annecy Film Festival.

For this year’s ever-inspiring Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios and Disney Television Animation, Disney Junior Educational Resource Group, Disney EMEA Animation, 20th Television Animation will unveil a handpicked selection of new releases that promise to bring fresh, captivating adventures to all the family.

Disney Branded Television will present “40 Years of Disney Television Animation: Past, Present, and Future” — a look at how, since its launch in 1984, Disney Television Animation has been at the forefront of creating iconic animated content for kids. The panels and screenings are to honor the studio's 40th anniversary which will happen on December.

A look at how, since its launch in 1984, Disney Television Animation has been at the forefront of creating iconic animated content for kids. The panel will feature previews of the "Phineas And Ferb" revival, "Primos", "Zombies: The Re-Animated Series", "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 2.0" and Disney Television Animation's 100th show "StuGo". The panel will have a showcase of upcoming NDA content for Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney+ for the next 100 shows.

I love this poster and am looking forward to this movie. Especially related to space adventures and wearing space suits. I wish the DuckTales reboot got something like this with both space adventures and spacesuits. I mean, Moonlanders was great, but I wish it had turned out better somehow. Certainly congratulations to Big City Greens and I expect that movie to be successful. On June 6 this year, don't forget, this movie will be shown.

Now a little question for you DuckTales reboot fans.

Huh, if I had a nickel for a tv movie based on a popular Disney television animation series that has a stand-alone story and serves and an introduction to unfamiliar viewers of the series but has Easter eggs and nods to longtime fans of said series and happens to be a musical and involves the galaxy/space/universe, I’d have two nickels.

Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?

Big City Greens Movie "Spacecation" Premiere!

In advance of its release, cast, crew, plus ones, and BCG episodic crew gathered Saturday night to see the finished product. I finished my work on it a year ago and I was extremely anxious to see how it all came out. It's super and it should make a big splash (insert fingers crossed emoji here).

I also have to say that I love that Big City Greens is getting their own movie called Spececation and it's in space and I'm excited about it. I kind of just regret that I wanted DuckTales to get its own movie as well, but in a universe where our heroes would wear spacesuits. It would be exciting for me to look at something like that. As someone who got to see how much of a grip PnF had on things growing up, it’s kind of amazing that Big City Greens (in terms of its ratings success and capturing the attention of a demographic Disney cares about) has essentially become a PnF of its time.

And Disney is treating it as such, giving it multiple season renewals, plenty of advertisement, rerun marathons practically every week, a tv movie… pretty much everything EXCEPT the huge mountain of merch that PnF got.

It seriously blows my mind that for as much as Disney treats BCGs as its 2020s cash-cow, we’ve yet to receive official BCGs figures or plushies or DVDs/books. We haven’t even gotten any funko pops or cheap happy meal toys like- what the heck Disney??

Maybe this’ll change with the release of Spacecation, though given that the show likely only has one more season left (if it does indeed get that coveted s5 renewal, which still may not even happen) it almost seems too late to try and get any official merch out, which is a real shame.

…I’d also like to say that, as someone who happily went to go see the cursed PnF live show as a high school student who was preparing to enter college, I would happily go watch a cursed BCGs live show despite being almost 30, asdfghjkl
