Blade spoke up. “I’m sleepy too. Maybe we should leave opening the gifts.”
Both Ariane and Diane cried out, “No.”
Blade laughed. “All right. I’ll go first.” He leaned out the door and whispered something. A servant entered carrying a large basket with a cloth over it. The servant placed the basket at Harriet’s feet. She could see something wiggling and heard a little whimper. She lifted the cloth and a little black furry face, so cute she instantly fell in love, looked up at her and gave a high-pitched bark. She reached in and pulled the puppy into her arms, and it immediately started licking her face. “She’s gorgeous.”
Blade came and crouched at her feet, love shining from within his eyes. “Yes, she is. She is of good breeding. She won’t grow too tall and she won’t be too short. If you train her well, she will be obedient. You can see from her eye’s that’s she’s intelligent and her breed are renowned for their even temperament.”
Harriet blushed and burst out laughing. “Your list. Your list was attributes for selecting this puppy.”
“As if I’d ever expect my little mermaid to be obedient.” Blade’s seductive smile saw her body explode with heat. “I know you love Sir Lancelot, but I cannot have cats near me. When you become my Duchess, he will have to stay behind. I’m hoping that little Marley will make your move to my home a little less strange.”

An enchanting, thrilling, action packed journey full of intrigue, danger, attraction, friendship, hidden desires and love. Such a wonderful read that had me smiling at times and on the edge of my seat at other times. But the message I took away from this story was all about the risk and rewards of love! Ahhhh…nothing better than love!! And with this being a combination of best friend’s brother and enemies to lovers tropes, my favorite tropes, I highly recommend this story!!

I loved every moment that these two were together! Every historical romance fan needs this book now!

Bronwen Evans writes historical romances that tug at the heart with her characters. The book cover lists this book as the first in a series called Sisterhood of Scandal. These novels focus on a group of young women and their brothers etc. The women band together to make money to help with their future. However, it is a secret they need to keep from their nearest and dearest or it will be a huge scandal!
A Lady Never Surrenders is about Miss Tiffany Deveraux and Lord Slade Ware, the Marquis of Wolfarth. Tiffany’s parents were killed in an accident and she was raised by her relatives. She knows she only has a small dowry and is dependent on her family for everything else. However, she has mad skills with investing money and is presently working with her friends to help earn them money.
Meanwhile Wolf needs or wants help to keep up the investing his father started. For Wolf marrying Tiffany for her investing prowess would be a great stop forward. Tiffany is less than impressed as she would like to marry for love. Then things become a bit more twisted when Wolf and Tiffany suspect her stock person is cheating her and maybe accidents happen when people question where their money is. It is time to keep everyone safe as they figure it all out.
Tiffany and Wolf need to depend on each other and just maybe fall in love? A Lady Never Surrenders by Bronwen Evans is a good read.

The house was silent when she finally slipped out of her room. Even blindfolded she could find her way to Blade’s room. As she entered, her smile almost wouldn’t fit through the door. He had declared his love for her to her brother. Now he needed to admit it to her.
She stopped just inside the door, closing it quietly behind her. The room was hot as a huge fire roared in the grate, but what drew her eye and caused her body to ignite, was the large bathing tub set directly in front of the fire. Or rather, the man sitting naked within it.
She tiptoed across the room. She understood why he did not turn at her approach because when she walked around the tub to face him she saw he was asleep, snoring softly.
Exhaustion marred his handsome features, and she couldn’t help herself. She leaned over and kissed his lips. She felt his lips break into a smile as his eyes flickered open. “My beautiful mermaid.”
She drew back and cupped his chin with her hand. “More like my merman tonight.”

Blue Stocking Miss Tiffany Deveraux an orphaned ward under the care of the Earl of Marlowe is really not as poor as everyone thinks. She has been concealing a secret, and if it was discovered it could bring fortune hunters to her door. But with her secret fortune she will be the one in control of her own destiny, and she will only marry a man who loves her or she will not marry at all.
Lord Slade Ware, the Marquess of Wolfarth also has a secret. While all of society thinks he is an investment guru, it has been nothing but blind luck. So when he learns of Miss Tiffany Deveraux’s gift of being quite the investment guru, he would love to do nothing more than to ask her to marry him in a marriage of convenience. But although she has been in love with him for years she will not settle for anything but love. But with Wolfarth's heart shattered beyond repair from the loss of his previous engagement, is all lost?
This is an entertaining and captivating historical romance filled with secrets, intrigue and sizzling chemistry that leaps off the page and into your heart. This pulled me in from the begging and held my captivated until the end. Loved the secondary characters in this series!
