I might change some things around, but here y'all go! The finished Moressau Tourist Brochure! Have fun~
Image Description under the cut:
First image:
the first third of the image is a light gold with an image of a dark city street with blue and red lighting and the words:
"ALL YOU NEED IS 24
24 hours, and you too will fall in love with the City of More. Whether you prefer the bustle of Moressau and it’s eccentric nightlife under neon-lit streets, or the solitude of the Olympic Mountains cloaked in temperate rainforests just outside the city limits, there’s something for everyone to love. Why not take a chance and see what calls to you? You might be surprised by what - or who - you find!"
the second third of the image is a mix of dark teal and maroon in a wave pattern and the words:
"To learn more visit: www.ExploreMoressau.org
or check us out online! Twitter - @CityofMore Facebook - Explore Moressau"
the last third of the image is a picture of a seaside city at dusk with the sky full of dark blues and pinks and the words:
"Moressau Magic heartland of the Pacific Northwest"
Second Image:
The first two thirds of the image are a mix of dark teal and maroon in a wave pattern and the words:
"EXPLORE MORE
HISTORY With a history that stretches back to the 1700's and the heyday of mountain men and French trappers, Moressau has everything a history buff could ever want. There’s Old Downtown’s brickwork storefronts that date back to the early 1800's for the architect in everyone. Seafarers can enjoy the Harbor Boardwalk with planks rumored to be salvaged from storm-wrecked ships, and the Smuggler’s Lighthouse that still guides the way back home for our sailors.
MYSTERY Ever heard the stories of smuggler tunnels under the docks of Moressau? How about the buried streets of Old Downtown? Or maybe you’ve heard tell that all the shipwrecks on the shores of the Brise Bay were the work of sirens? There’s always more secrets to uncover, be it the possibility of ghosts in the historic Gholson Hotel, or the hidden treasures of famed vampire Augustus Laroche beneath his mountaintop mansion.
INFAMY The dark and bloody history of Moressau is a draw for any true crime fan. The werewolf serial killer Charlie Potter, “The Beast of the Bay”, chased his victims through the streets of the East Docks neighborhood. The Museum of History hosts an entire exhibit detailing Moressau’s beginnings as a smuggler outpost, with visitors like the Camilla Bain the Pirate Queen and the wild explorer and rumored cannibal Art McGrath.
WITCHERY Considered the magic heartland of the West, Moressau is home to some of the largest numbers of actively practicing magic users in the United States. Whatever ailment or idle curiosity you posses can be cured by a quick visit to one of many apothecaries like Honey and Sage, or the historic Heron’s Compass, run by members of the ancient Maer-Rigan Coven.
AND MORE From trendy nightclubs to cosy stores to unique resturaunts, Moressau has it all!"
The last third of the image is a picture of a city at night as viewed from the air and the words:
"Everyone deserves a little more in life."

Fire Emblem Fates: Reclass Relation to Characters
Had this in the drafts, so I thought to finish it. All of it is under the cut.
Azura, Ryoma, Sakura: Sky Knight. The Hoshidan fam’s genetic class to tie them together is Sky Knight. Since Azura grew up with the fam, she has this class, too. Could also represent Ryoma’s serenity, Azura’s grace, and Sakura’s purity.
Hinoka: Spear Fighter. Hinoka is a prominent example of Hoshido’s strict societal gender roles (before it was washed over in localization), and naginata were the common weapons that housewife warriors used to defend the household in historical Japan. Is also likely representative of her naginata training before becoming a Sky Knight.
Takumi: Spear Fighter. The family black sheep is the only one who doesn’t have Sky Knight. Wants to surpass Ryoma in any way possible, so he’s apt in the naginata as well to get an advantage. Could also represent his stubbornness, his patriotism (since Spear Master always has the Hoshidan Flag accessory), and his connection to Hinoka as well.
Xander, Elise: Wyvern Rider. The Nohr fam’s genetic class to tie them together is Wyvern Rider. Could also represent Xander’s immense canonical strength, and Elise’s tenacity.
Camilla: Dark Mage. Most likely represents her dark past within the Nohrian court. Might also imply that she was an original contender for inheriting Brynhildr, and/or that her mother was proficient in magic as well.
Leo: Troubadour. The lonely genius child is detached from his family, so he doesn’t get Wyvern Rider. Leo has huge issues with his masculinity (this was more apparent in the JP version) that compounds with his fear of ‘shaming’ the family, so he gets the traditionally girly class. Also, he represents the series’ traditional Troubadour that falls for a sibling, with Camilla being his first crush and his S support with Corrin revealing he started feeling that way for her as well.
Felicia: Mercenary. A natural talent on the battlefield. Also represents how she defects from whatever side necessary for her to stay loyal to Corrin.
Jakob: Cavalier. Corrin’s personal retainer, and most retainers in the series are of the Cavalier line. Was also personally trained by Gunter.
Kaze, Saizo: Samurai. Samurai in history represent unwavering loyalty to the master they dedicate themselves too. Could also reference how they were trained in the same way at the same time by the same person since they’re twins.
Silas: Mercenary. Mercs are guided by self interest over loyalty to country, so it makes sense why he chooses Corrin over Nohr.
Shura: Ninja, Fighter. Kohga was famous for its ninja, and it was probably his original class. Fighter represents how he was forced to live a life of banditry in Nohr after being rejected from Hoshido.
Izana: Samurai, Apothecary. Samurai could imply his strict adherence and devotion to his Kingdom’s tradition of neutrality and aversion to violence. Apothecary relates him to his fortune telling, since divination in Hoshido is related to potions, fortunes, and ingredient based practices.
Mozu: Archer. She’s an incredibly skilled hunter.
Rinkah: Ninja. Prefers keeping to herself due to her clan’s policy of isolationism.
Hana: Shrine Maiden. Connects her to Sakura and could also be relevant to her status as a noble. May also be a sign of her more feminine interests that contrast her tomboy lifestyle.
Subaki: Samurai. His family has served the royal family for generations, and samurai pride themselves on being loyal to their masters. Could also represent his adherence to his family’s strict teachings with regards to him being perfect.
Orochi: Apothecary. Proficient in potions and salves, especially since Hoshidan divination makes use of those.
Azama: Apothecary. The best dealer in Hoshido /s Since apothecaries lead into the merchant class, this represents his grounded absurdist approach to life that juxtaposes his religious upbringing and class. Could also imply a proficiency with medicine due to him being a healer.
Setsuna: Ninja. Her absentmindedness translates to a unknowing talent to conceal her presence, making her a better hunter and was outright noted in her supports with both Kaze and Ryoma.
Hayato: Oni Savage. Insecure about being seen as just a kid, so of course he has the buff manly man class as a secondary. May also represent a connection to Fuga’s wild influence, or to his being native to a tribe.
Oboro: Apothecary. Born to a a family of merchants. Also has an odd temperament.
Hinata: Oni Savage. Uncouth, unkempt, and always looking for a fight.
Kagero: Diviner. Has the class of Orochi, her best friend. Could also represent Kagero’s distinct taste in art and other aesthetics.
Reina: Diviner, Ninja. The classes of Mikoto’s fellow retainers, Orochi and Kagero. The former may also symbolize her noble status, and the latter may symbolize her obsession with death since ninjas in Fates are akin to assassins.
Kaden: Diviner. Kitsune are mystical creatures in Japanese myth, possessing spiritual and paranormal powers.
Scarlet: Outlaw, Knight. The former symbolizes how she rebelled against Nohr, the latter represents how Cheve is renowned for producing skilled knights.
Yukimura: Samurai, Monk. He shares the classes of the two people he was closest to, Sumeragi and Mikoto.
Gunter: Mercenary, Wyvern Rider. Mercenary can represent his status as an incredibly skilled fighter and lacking loyalty to Garon. Wyvern Rider can represent his strength and the surprisingly cruel ambitions he had in mind after Garon ruined his life.
Arthur: Cavalier. The typical ‘hero look’ in most fairy tales involve a sword wielding knight on a noble steed.
Effie: Troubadour. To contrast her strength and bulky class, she actually has a delicate, gentle demeanor... At least, she did UNTIL TREEHOUSE RUINED IT, UGHHHHH-
Odin: Samurai. Not native to Nohr and was originally a sword wielder.
Niles: Dark Mage. Has a turbulent past and a sadistic worldview.
Nyx: Outlaw. She’s an actual criminal on the run.
Selena: Sky Knight. Not native to Nohr, and symbolizes her ever present connection to her mother.
Beruka: Fighter. Grew up as a thug in the Nohrian slums.
Laslow: Ninja. Not native to Nohr. Being a dancer, his movements are quick and precise. Could also symbolize his shy attitude whenever he feels uncomfortable.
Peri: Dark Mage. Terrible past that resulted in her becoming a serial killer with a vicious, childlike morality.
Benny: Fighter. In spite of his best efforts, this gentle giant has the face of a thug. Therefore he gets the class of one, too.
Charlotte: Troubadour. Can flip between her vulgar, brutish side and her cutesy, flirty side at the drop of a hat, so it makes sense she has a class typically associated with femininity.
Keaton: Fighter. Werewolves are savage beasts who usually kill people with brute strength more often than any kind of mythical powers.
Flora: Dark Mage, Mercenary. The former is the class of her father, and can be said to represent her dark feelings of jealousy, inadequacy, and self-hatred. The latter symbolizes her skilled nature with most tasks, connects her to Felicia, and signifies her status as a betrayer.
Fuga: Oni Savage, Monk. The former represents his love of fighting as a way to test people, the latter represents his wisdom and spirituality.
Anna: Troubadour, Apothecary. The former represents her utilitarianism, the latter represents her merchant lifestyle.
The 2nd Gen inherits classes from their parents, but some have distinct exceptions.
Shigure: Sky Knight, Troubadour. He starts as a Sky Knight because that’s Azura’s secondary class, and symbolizes his connection with Hoshido. Troubadour was Arete’s class, and is also the parallel class of Songstress.
Midori: Apothecary. Kaze’s willingness to help people resulted in a daughter who does the exact same with medicine. Could also symbolize how making Kaze medicine would be an excuse to spend time with him, and help keep him safe if her medicines are effective. May also be a neat reference to how Kaze’s first action as a playable unit was giving Corrin a vulnerary.
Shiro: Spear Fighter. Wants to kick his dad’s ass and chose the naginata to do it, with all that 4th wall, meta goodness.
Forrest: Troubadour. Unlike his father who’s ashamed of his femininity, Forrest embraces his.
Percy: Wyvern Rider. Arthur gave Percy a Wyvern egg so he wouldn’t be lonely in his deeprealm! Mega cute!

Entry 62: Everyone is Pete Holmes’s Batman
Class Profile - Outlaw
The Nohrian fusion of Archers and Thieves from past games and rival to Hoshidan Archers. Wields bows. Class of Niles, Nina, and Anna. Promotes into Adventurer or Bow Knight. Possesses high Speed, good Resistance, and passable Strength and Skill, making them a lot better at direct damage when compared to the more utility-based Ninjas. Locktouch is shared with Ninjas, it allows them to open doors and chests without keys, while Movement+1 gives them +1 Movement. I really like the Outlaw design, with their simple but cool design and their hoods. That said, the fact that female Outlaws wear high heels is ridiculous.
Class Profile - Cavalier
A mounted Nohrian class that wields swords and lances, rival to Ninjas for some reason. Class of Silas, Sophie, Peri, and Siegbert. With balanced stats and extra movement, Cavaliers are great in most situations. Elbow Room makes them fight better if they don’t have cover, while Shelter allows them to pull nearby units into a pair up and is great for rescuing weaker units. Promotes into Paladins or Great Knights. The design for male cavaliers is great, with them wearing nice-looking medium armor. Female cavaliers don’t wear pants. They wear thongs. While riding horses. What the fuck.
Class Profile - Apothecary
A Hoshidan class that most players forget exist, considering the only Apothecaries are Midori, a child unit, and Senno, a capturable boss. They promote into Merchants or Mechanists and wield bows. They actually have pretty good Strength and HP, with solid Defense, Skill, and Speed. The gimmick of this class is that they’re good at using healing items; their skill Potent Potion boosts the healing gotten from potions, while Quick Salve allows them to attack after healing themselves. Interesting, but I rarely use healing items so this class is kinda useless for me. Their design, a simple kimono with a massive backpack and possibly a big round hat, fits with their vibe as non-combat healers. Who can’t use healing staves for some reason.
Conquest Chapter 14: Voice of Paradise
Camilla takes Moron to the opera house in Cyrkensia so they can talk about the war crimes that just happened. While there, they run into Leo, who is working as Garon's bodyguard. Garon praises Moron for killing unarmed civilians. Before Moron can explain it was all Hans, the show starts.
Azura goes on stage, wearing a purple dress and a translucent veil that somehow keeps anyone from recognizing her. Like in Birthright Chapter 12, she sings her magic song, making Garon groan in discomfort. Normally I’d analyze this song now, but a big chunk of its context is explained in Chapter 15, so I’m going to hold off for a moment.
Iago orders his men to capture the mysterious singer who looks identical to Garon's stepdaughter. Suddenly, a band of Hoshidans led by a man named Kumegara show up, vowing to bring peace by killing Garon. They seem to have the right idea, considering the fact that Garon just praised us for murdering unarmed civilians.
Azura, who was totally outside getting fresh air, shows up again so we can have a dancer during this battle. Towards the bottom of the map is Keaton, the werewolf dude Moron was forced to kill during that dumb chapter where Kaze dies in Birthright. He's there because he got lost and wandered into a goddamn battlefield. When Moron talks to him, Keaton explains that he's a Wolfskin and asks for directions home. Moron convinces Keaton to join his army. Keaton gives Moron a hairball as a gift.
Keaton
Leader of the Wolfskin. In Birthright he’s intimidating, but in this route he gets lost and is obsessed with broken old junk. His personal skill, Collector, is terrible. It allows Keaton to grind materials to be used in My Castle; the problem is, those materials are already easy to grind. Design wise, he’s fine. He’s a wolf dude and he looks like that.
This chapter uses the same map as Birthright Chapter 12, albeit with an altered layout. Instead of the player having to escape, they have to defeat the chapter’s boss, Kumegara. Who is capturable.
Kumegara
An Oni Chieftain general who...does not have any personality or backstory. Which is a shame, because his design is great. He also has Countermagic, Darting Blow, and Certain Blow, depending on the difficulty, all great skills.
After the battle, Leo and Moron discuss who the mysterious singer was. Both of these characters are imbeciles. Garon shows up and orders Moron to kill all of the singers in Nestra. Not just the blue-haired dancer, every single singer in the entire country. Moron says no, but Hans and Iago volunteer to do it for him. Moron, this great defender of justice and fighter of evil, just watches as they leave and makes no effort to stop them.
Moron explains the value of mercy to Garon and explains that being evil will make the people of Nohr lose faith in them. Garon explains that he has literally no morals and just wants to conquer Hoshido, lives of his own people be damned.
Leo drags Moron away and yells at him for suicidally questioning Garon to his face. Leo tells Moron to be smart about their disobedience and manipulate things behind Garon's back. He comes up with the plan to be slow and stupid while hunting the singers, giving them time to escape, and tells his men that only he is allowed to kill the dancers, because he is skilled at faking deaths.
Leo's magic legendary book starts glowing and turns Yato into Grim Yato, a sword with a purple glow and a regal-looking guard. Neat.
Support: Corrin/Keaton
C: Keaton shows Corrin a new treasure he found: a torn old stuffed animal.
B: Keaton shows Corrin his collection of garbage. I mean, his treasures.
A: Keaton gives Corrin a seashell as a gift then brushes off the fact that he did something nice.
S: Keaton offers to get rid of all his treasures because he loves Corrin. Corrin tells him he doesn't have to.
Review: A lot of characters in this game are built around a single trait or joke. Keaton’s joke is that he collects worthless old garbage. I don’t get it.
Support: Effie/Leo
C: Leo struggles to figure out a way to storm a fortified base without losing his men. Effie offers to charge in and take everyone on herself. This is portrayed as he being stupid, but is actually how I use Effie on most maps. B: Leo praises Effie for taking out ten soldiers with a single strike, but criticizes her for risking her life. Effie says that her life is worthless if she can't protect her companions. A: Leo can't manage to come up with a plan of attack where he won't lose soldiers. Effie tells him that no one survives a war without losing friends and that Leo's soldiers trust him because they know he leads them down a path worth fighting for. The path of conquest and slaughter. S: Leo asks Effie if she likes anyone, which surprises Effie so much she rips her shield in half. Leo says he loves Effie because she gives it her all in battle and Effie says she loves him too because of his honor.
Support: Arthur/Benny
Benny is sad because everyone is scared of him. Arthur offers to help. B: Arthur has Benny walk around smiling, but a horde of faceless show up and everyone assumes Benny is one. A: Arthur and Benny have a barbecue, which attracts bears that maul Arthur. Benny befriends the bears and parties with them.
Review: A bit basic, but Benny talking to bears and inviting them to his barbecue is so absurd it’s hilarious. This man canonically can speak bear and convinced them to make Arthur a good luck charm.
Support: Charlotte/Niles
C: Niles implies that he knows Charlotte is putting on an act.
B: Charlotte confronts Niles and threatens to kill him if he interferes with her scheming.
A: Niles interrupts Charlotte's seduction and drags her away. Charlotte beats him up, but he explains that talking to him privately makes her alluring. A: Niles proposes to Charlotte. She accepts because he makes good money as a royal bodyguard.
S: Not bad. Niles being able to see through Charlotte is good and him fucking with her is fun. Still, the first two conversations are incredibly short and make the whole thing feel like it’s missing a quarter of its length.

Camilla/Flayn C-A Support
Written by @onnanokosuki
C SUPPORT
[Camilla is training while Flayn watches from a distance.]
Camilla: Hyah! Rah!
Flayn: …I see… fascinating…
Camilla: Rraah! *Pant pant*
Flayn: Excellent job, miss Camilla!
Camilla: Why, thank you! But why have you been standing there, dear? Are you lost?
Flayn: I am not lost! I came here to ask something of you, actually.
Camilla: Of course! What do you need?
Flayn: I hear many stories about your exploits on the battlefield! Many of the women who I speak with in the apothecary have been so impressed that they have called you ‘savage’ and ‘barbaric’!
Camilla: Oh… em, thank you. Who were you speaking to, exactly?
Flayn: This is a tad embarrassing but, I must admit, I find myself mimicking your words and actions.
Camilla: I’m so flattered, but who was it who called me ‘barbaric’?
Flayn: Someday, I too wish to ride a wyvern, just like my dear brother.
Camilla: Mhm, okay.
Flayn: Until that day that I may set out on my own, please take me under your wing!
Camilla: I suppose that wouldn’t hurt anyone…. and how could I ever turn you down? But I do suggest that you stick to healing until you’re older. The battlefield is a very… shocking place. I don’t think you will like it…
Flayn: I’m afraid I cannot abide by that request, miss Camilla! I will carry my weight in this war, just like the rest of us. I will see you tomorrow!
Camilla: Oh- goodbye! Oh dear…. what did I just agree to?
[Camilla and Flayn have reached support rank C.]
B SUPPORT
Camilla: Are you entirely sure about this? You look a bit pale…
Flayn: Yes! I want to ride the wyvern. My brother never lets me ride his!
Camilla: Well… my wyvern is very gentle, but… I’m not sure I would want my little sister to ride some stranger’s wyvern.
Flayn: This is for the sake of protecting innocent lives! I must!
Camilla: Alright... Just one quick patrol, okay?
Flayn: Understood!
[Fade to black.]
Flayn: I must… lift it..!
Camilla: That battle axe is much too heavy for you! You’re going to hurt yourself, dear!
Flayn: But I… can!
Camilla: Oh my…
[Fade to black.]
Flayn: Private Flayn reporting for duty! What is my assignment, miss Camilla?
Camilla: Assignment..? Dear, what is all this?
Flayn: My uniform!
Camilla: Listen, Flayn… You are a very sweet girl. You remind me of my own little sister in many ways. Experimenting is important for growing, but I cannot lead you down this path in good conscience.
Flayn: Huh…? What could you mean?
Camilla: I’ve talked to your brother… I couldn’t imagine how stressed he was. He was nearly ill when I told him about how you lifted that battle axe…Needless to say, I think he doesn’t want you to do this anymore.
Flayn: So you won’t train me?
Camilla: I’m afraid I will not, darling.
Flayn: Oh… I understand.
[Camilla and Flayn have reached support rank B.]
A SUPPORT
Flayn: Miss Camilla? I’d like to apologize.
Camilla: Flayn? What for?
Flayn: I was being very childish… dragging you along for my own gain.
Camilla: Well, of course you’ll be childish, you’re a child! I don’t blame you for that.
Flayn: Yes… well…
Camilla: Please don’t look so sad, Flayn. I’m not mad at all!
Flayn: Truthfully, I only wanted to prove my strength to my brother.
Camilla: And you are very strong. You pushed yourself to do all of those things even though they were uncomfortable for you. That’s more than I do to this day. Flayn: Ah…
Camilla: And healing requires a lot of strength on it’s own. My own little sister can attest to that.
Flayn: Thank you for humoring me for so long.
Camilla: It was fun! I just felt a little bad for your brother, that’s all.
Flayn: Even though I cannot be strong in the same way that you are, you still make me feel empowered! I am so glad that I met you, miss Camilla.
Camilla: And I’m glad I met you! I’m always happy to have another little sister, especially one so bright and talented as you are! Flayn: I would like to meet your little sister eventually, as you keep comparing me to her. I’m quite curious.
Camilla: Yes, why don’t we set up a little tea party? I can bring Elise, and you can bring Seteth. I’ll even make my signature cookies! How does that sound?
Flayn: That sounds lovely. I cannot wait!
[Camilla and Flayn have reached support rank A.]

30 JUNE 2008 Astoria is formally removed from Hargrove Academy and moves in with Evander and Elyssa Vetri, who begin to teach her death magic, specifically expression.
1 MAY 2009 Evander and Elyssa bring Astoria with them to Paris, where they attempt to steal a heavily guarded grimoire. In the process, both Evander and Elyssa are killed, and Astoria is found, frightened and injured but otherwise safe, two days later.
1 SEPTEMBER 2009 Astoria moves in with her mother’s sister in Boston, MA, where she enrolls in St. Colman’s Catholic Academy to complete her education.
17 JUNE 2011 Graduation from St. Colman’s. She is valedictorian, cheer captain, and a member of the school’s girl’s soccer team. She is, also, a very active member of a community of local witches who meet in Salem.
6 SEPTEMBER 2011 The start of Astoria’s education at Harvard University, where she completes a double major in history ( focused in early modern Europe ) and folklore and mythology ( focused in witchcraft, magic, and demonology ).
20 MAY 2015 Graduation from Harvard University.
19 AUGUST 2015 Astoria begins an intensive course of study at Berkley for a master’s degree in folklore.
18 DECEMBER 2016 Graduation from University of California, Berkeley.
22 DECEMBER 2016 Astoria relocates to Dublin, Ireland, where she buys a building and opens a shop, Belladonna Apothecary, with her brother Damon. She splits her time moving forward between Dublin and Boston, when she isn’t traveling for work.
HISTORY (tw: abuse, torture, death, murder via poison, suicide attempt)
** Please note – this history is developed through extensive plotting with potterstillstinks, who writes Seraphina, Daphne, and Damon Greengrass.
This verse will be adapted as necessary to fit various other timelines and fandoms. You can see a breakdown of how I approach magic here. This is how I’ll write Astoria’s magic in this verse; any different approaches to be magic will be for verses based in specific fandoms.
The Greengrasses became titans: a family line of barons, the title bought in the sixteenth century and often more expense than it was worth, struck gold in the early days of Victoria’s reign. Generations of work as merchants and a bone-deep ambition left them well suited to fulfill the growing spiritualist interest in seances, divination, and summonings. They sold books written by folklorists and anthropoligists alongside tarot decks, candles alongside herbs, bezoars and adder stones alongside broomsticks and wands. For the more discerning clientele, they sold hands of glory, notes and diaries belonging to court sorcerers and alchemists, grimoires from medieval witches, cloaks and caps of invisibility.
It didn’t matter much whether or not the Greengrasses believed; elevated from a barony to a dukedom, they cared more for the development of their earthly power than anything of other worlds. Their wealth and influence grew, and while the majority of the Greengrasses were skeptics, some were more open to the evidence presented to them. Among them was Seraphina Greengrass, heir to the Greengrass fortune, and when she went looking for a highly-desired grimoire she found witches, real witches, practicing their craft in Venice. With them she found Kasper Grim.
When she suggested marriage he said yes; when she asked him to take her name he said yes; he adored her ambition and her power and wanted nothing more than to support her in it. Together they had four children: Camilla, five years after their marriage; Daphne and Damon, twins, three years later; and finally, two years after the twins, Astoria. All four of the children inherited Kasper’s gift and Seraphina’s drive. The family split their time between Venice, visiting Kasper’s parents, and Dublin, where they lived normal lives, cut off from their magic except in theory.
As Astoria grew, she began to recognize apparently ever-increasing depths of power. She had an instinct for creating spells, often producing magic far beyond her years, and a particular knack for manipulating water. Kasper’s cousins, the Vetri siblings — also Astoria’s godparents — offered to help teach her better control, so as to keep her from causing unnecessary damage, and, trusting their family to look after their youngest, Kasper and Seraphina agreed to allow Evander and Elyssa to educate her.
At first, it was everything Astoria had dreamed — at fourteen she left the mundane academy in Dublin to travel and study throughout Europe instead, crawling through ruins, poring over old books, copying out spells and practicing creating her own. The farther she got into her education, the stranger things became: her guardians were vehemently opposed to allowing her to study anything besides what they found useful, and often emphasized the kinds of magic that made her skin crawl. It wasn’t enough to manipulate water; they taught her instead to locate water in the body to heal, to harm. It wasn’t enough to invent spells; they taught her to push her boundaries, to create spells that had no business existing.
The magic made her more powerful, but more volatile as well, producing frequent and excruciating headaches, often uncontrollable shaking, dehydration, and nosebleeds. As her physical health deteriorated, her attention to detail grew sharper: she realized that Evander and Elyssa would push her far beyond her limits so that they could direct her magic without her interference when she was in pain, and that without her, they were significantly less powerful than she’d imagined. They needed her, but she wasn’t sure why; when she began to ask questions, or refused to follow their orders, they began to punish her, often violently.
Knowing that she couldn’t destroy them using only magic, she turned to logic, using Evander’s wrath and Elyssa’s pride against them. The weaker-willed they imagined her, the more they let their guard down. She first realized that they intended to use her as a human shield when she was fifteen: the Vetris brought her with them to hunt down a grimoire said to possess the means of prolonging human life, with far greater success than anything else they had encountered. The book was heavily guarded, and Astoria took the worst of the protective spells’ effects; she woke days later with no memory of the venture’s end, and only her godparents’ word that it had been a success. It became clear then that if Astoria was going to survive, her godparents could not.
She picked a fight, knowing how it would end. The following night, her injuries treated only enough to keep her from something worse, she begged forgiveness, and she watched in silence as her tormentors choked on their own bile, the cups of coffee she’d brought them as a peace offering crashing to the floor. It had been easy enough. Just a little bit of poison. Something mundane, something they never saw coming. She used her magic to dispose of the bodies, to speed up the decomposition until they were nothing but dust. And she waited alone in that house for days until she called the police, sobbing, saying that she didn’t know where her godparents were, begging for help.
The police who contacted her parents that night explained that the Vetris were missing. Their daughter was in shock. The x-rays taken at the local hospital showed several healed fractures indicative of abuse. What she needed most was to go home.
Astoria wouldn’t speak until they were back in Dublin; her first day back she tried, and failed, to kill herself, and the day after she called her aunt overseas and told her that she couldn’t, wouldn’t stay in Europe. It took some convincing before her parents agreed that she would move to Boston, where she lived with her aunt as she completed her secondary education. She pursued a bachelor’s degree in history and folklore, spending her graduate education focused on history — specifically, the Italian Renaissance. After completing a doctoral degree, she and her siblings gathered together to take up the family business. Astoria, Camilla, and Damon came together, opening small occult shops in various cities; expanding, they said in magazine interviews and on the shop’s website, building off the foundation of our aunt’s store in Boston.
They served upscale clientele, providing them with high quality magical goods and everything from spells to exorcisms to potions, and while Camilla and Damon took on major roles in sales, Astoria followed in her mother’s footsteps, and began to collect ( sometimes illegally ) artifacts for more discerning collectors. ( Occasionally, she was asked to take more than just a few artifacts — and, more and more, Astoria found herself in the business of selling secrets. )
IN A WORLD WITHOUT MAGIC
NAME Grim, Astoria Ileana ( born Greengrass ). DATE OF BIRTH 22 August 1993. CURRENT LOCATION Boston, MA. OCCUPATION Sale and authentication of antiques ( 10th - 16th century ).
CHILDHOOD Born 22 AUG 1993 to Kasper Grim and Seraphina Greengrass in Venice, Italy. Educated in Dublin, Ireland until 2007. Withdrawn from Hargrove Academy before beginning of Fall 2008 semester. Missing, unreported, from 30 JUNE 2008 until 11 MAY 2009; presumed living with godparents, Elyssa and Evander Vetri, in London, UK. Filed missing persons report, stating that ten days prior, her godparents left her home to run errands and did not return. Medical examination showed evidence of several healed fractures ( ribs, clavicle, nose ) and active injuries ( fracture in left wrist, poorly treated compound fracture in arm recent dislocation of left shoulder ), as well as severe trauma likely due to abuse and neglect. After several interviews, and only with parents and paternal grandfather ( Aleksi Grim, also acting as her legal representation ) present, admitted that she had been abused during the eleven months she was missing. No bodies were discovered, and no evidence of foul play was found. Relocated to Boston, MA to live with maternal aunt ( Astoria M. Townsend ); changed name to Grim to avoid confusion with her aunt.
EDUCATION Completed high school education at St. Coleman’s Catholic Academy, graduated with honors ( Spring 2011 ). Attended Harvard University to double major in history and folklore & mythology ( Fall 2011 - Spring 2015 ), before attending University of California at Berkley for an intensive master’s degree in folklore ( Fall 2015 - Summer 2016 ) and Columbia University to earn a PhD in history with a focus in the Italian Renaissance ( Fall 2016 - Spring 2021 ).
CRIMINAL HISTORY Any criminal activity is suspected, not confirmed. While Grim’s godparents were heavily involved with several criminal syndicates across Europe, Grim herself seems to have escaped relative unscathed, and without much attachment in Europe. In the United States, however, Grim is linked primarily to corporate and political espionage of questionable legality, usually in the employ of Senator Adam Vega ( D-NY ). Suspected in the theft and illegal sale of several medieval artifacts, but could not be definitively tied to any.
KNOWN ALIASES None. KNOWN ASSOCIATES Elyssa Vetri ( paternal first cousin once removed, godmother. Deceased. ); Evander Vetri ( paternal first cousin once removed, godfather. Deceased. ); Senator Adam Vega, D-NY ( business associate ).
SUSPECTED ALIASES Elena Hawke, Elizabeth Vane. SUSPECTED ASSOCIATES Raymond Reddington, unconfirmed.
NOTES Criminal record consists solely of two parking tickets and two speeding tickets. Despite her godparents’ connections, Grim does not appear to pose any physical threat. Noted as charming and persuasive, but believed to be acting within the bounds of legality.
Several deaths, seemingly unconnected, all without any evidence of foul play. All victims seen with a woman, blonde hair, late twenties to early thirties, in the 48 hours prior to their deaths. No evidence found that this is the same woman.
SOCIAL CONNECTIONS Involved with Iain Blackwood from Spring 2010 - Fall 2016; engaged from Fall 2014 - Fall 2016. A handful of alleged romantic connections, none of which have been publicly acknowledged, though she was linked to Vega from Summer 2017 to Winter 2018. Have remained close friends since apparent breakup. Tends to frequent theaters; especially fond of opera, little interest in most art. Not taken particularly seriously outside of her work due to reports of a hedonistic lifestyle, though this does work to her advantage when it comes to making new social connections.
PROFESSIONAL CONNECTIONS Travels often for work. Works closely with several universities, despite preferring to sell to individual collectors ( themselves often academics associated with these universities ). Well known for her skill in negotiations and her patience, as well as her willingness to lose customers if she finds them personally unpleasant.
Her staff is varied but she travels regularly with a handful of personal guards, led by Lorenzo Vescovi, also considered a close friend. Has been trained in self-defense, but prefers not to engage physically. Some have joked that even if she did need to get violent with anyone, it’s unlikely she’d ever have to do it herself. Will only pick up a gun herself if she feels the need to make a point.
Loyal to her allies, though she has yet to be linked to any criminal activity, even when those allies are arrested. Could suggest a willingness to step back and extricate herself from any danger? If she has done so, she’s done it effectively. No one seems to have a grudge against her.
Relationship with Vega seeming to cool, though there have been no indications of a falling-out.

please keep going?
The Hoshidofam's genotype is Pegasus; Sakura and Ryouma share it as their secondary class and it's Hinoka's primary class. It's even Aqua's secondary class, showing the influence the Hoshido family had on her (this is why it's Shigure's base class and most likely why he has a Hoshidan name)
The outlier is, of course, perennial black sheep Takumi
Although Hinoka's promoted class can wield bows, she starts as a basic Pegasus Warrior--meaning that, unlike Camilla, it was never even imagined that Hinoka would try to claim the Fujin Yumi. The Conquest epilogue solidifies this; Hinoka only became queen when all male relatives were dead
Hinoka most likely picked Pegasus Warrior to train as because it's the ideal class for rescuing someone; fly in, fly out. Her secondary is also Spear Master, meaning that she's always naginata-focused; the naginata is often linked with women because it was a popular choice of wives defending households
The second is likely the same reason Oboro is a Spear Master. Oboro's secondary class, Apothecary, lets her access the closest thing Fates has to a Merchant class :')
Shinonome, on the third hand, is a Spear Master because it gets WTA over his father because he's a dick like that
The Kamuisexuals all have two extra classes, all representing different parts of their character
Ashura: Axe Fighter, a thuggish class that's Nohrian through-and-through, and Ninja, his original class in Kouga
Yukimura: Samurai and Priest, the base classes of Sumeragi and Mikoto, who he sees as parent figures
Yuugiri: Spellcaster to represent her close friendship with Orochi and Ninja because she was originally Kagerou to represent her previous role as retainer
Crimson: Knight and Outlaw. Stalwart defender, but also rebel.
Anna: Apothecary, because merchant, and Rod Knight, because Tricksters used staves in Awakening
Flora: Dark Mage and Mercenary, a nod to her being your enemy and changing sides. Incidentally, Felicia (who betrays Nohr) also has Mercenary. If a Buddy Seal is used, Felicia gains access to Dark Mage from Flora and Flora gets no benefit whatsoever. Just like real life :')
Izana: Samurai and Apothecary. He's a hard guy to get a handle on, but I think Samurai is supposed to represent his surprising fortitude (it's Ryouma's class, after all) and Apothecary how he's high as fuck his somewhat mercenary nature (staying neutral in the war)
Gunther: Mercenary and Wyvern Rider. Another betrayer.
Fuuga: Oni and Monk, a simple showing that he's a fierce fighter with a benevolent side. Incidentally, his base class is Samurai--that of his old friend, Sumeragi
Joker's Cavalier secondary represents his grudging affection for Gunther
Most children have their father's class set, occasionally with primary and secondary reversed (ie Leon is Dark Mage/Rod Knight and Foleo is Rod Knight/Dark Mage). Midoriko, Shinonome, and Lutz are the only oddballs
All three routes of Fates have differently-colored menu windows; Nohr and Hoshido disagree so much that they won't share something as fundamental as a text box
Ditto different promotion themes
All Hoshidan classes are written in kanji; all Nohrian classes are written in katakana, even if FE usually writes it in kanji (ie Mercenary), to represent how foreign the lands are to each other
My personal favorite example of how sharp this division feels is with Kamui's promoted class options; they're 白の血族 (lit White Blood, maybe localized to Dawn's Bloodline/Descendant) and ダークブラッド (Dark Blood, maybe Dusk's Descendant). Even if you can't read any Japanese, the shapes are just viscerally different
Fuuga, Flora, and Rinkah are all scions of their clans, represented by their similar ability names; Wind Blood, Ice Blood, and Fire Blood
Felicia, on the other hand, is loyal to Kamui first even though she's the favored daughter, and to represent that she's part of a skill family with Joker and Gunther instead

I FINALLY GOT SKYRIM MARRIED
i have a BEAUTIFUL WIFE
...who i went through a lot of shit for. this is. a lot of exposition, bear with me :’) im very invested in my character’s personal story here
so astrid had a very important special job for me and sent me to markarth to speak with the client directly
Tumblr media
it turned out to be the apothecary’s assistant, who i was passingly familiar with already, so i imagine it was a bit of a surprise to both of us, but she got right to the point - a man broke her heart and ruined her life, used her to hurt the people close to her, abandoned her to go become a bandit, now she wants him dead
u can probably imagine where this is going,
this is the first time ive had a dark brotherhood job i was legitimately PSYCHED to carry out, you BET ill go fuck this guy up for you id do this for free
however, she also had... another request, one that wasn’t required, but something she really, really wanted
see she was very close with/practically another daughter to the shatter-shields in windhelm, the wealthy family who recently lost a daughter to the windhelm butcher
alain had manipulated her and used her to get to the shatter-shields, i dont remember if he stole from them or what happened there, but whatever it was, the shatter-shields blamed muiri for this and disowned her, throwing her out onto the streets with nothing
so she was used and had her heart broken by a man she loved, then was told it was Her Fault, and lost her home and her friends/the closest thing to family she had all at once, and was so hurt and desperate she turned to the dark brotherhood to get revenge on them all
she wanted me to kill nilsine too, the shatter-shields’ other daughter
SO we have this really complicated situation where, on the one hand, she wants alain dead for using her and ruining her life and hurting her friends, and like, he’s a bandit leader now, so he’s someone i probably would’ve easily killed off anyway, by “this is a video game not real life”/skyrim standards that’s a no brainer, i have no moral conflict with that and can’t wait to slash this guy’s head off
but on the other hand she’s so broken she wants a woman who used to be her best friend/practically her sister dead too. i dont know what nilsine’s role in this was specifically but these people were essentially her family, and they victim blamed her when she needed their support the most and threw her out with nothing and nowhere to go
and i had already done quests with the shatter-shields before this, so like, i know them too, and they’re sort of friends to me, i helped solve the mystery of their other daughter’s murder and now I’m being asked to kill the other. not to mention everyone’s going to think the butcher’s back/there’s a copycat killer/something and it’s gonna cause a panic again (even if the game doesn’t acknowledge that/directly show that happening, y’know)
killing someone’s daughter when they’re still in mourning over the first, when they’ve come to trust you, when you’re the one who helped them gain closure over that first death already, is just. a stone cold thing to do
especially looking at it from my character’s perspective, she’d be especially torn on this because she’s a mother herself, but her children are girls she rescued from the streets - lucia was thrown away by her family, sofie was a victim of tragedy and was let down by the people in authority who should have protected and helped her
so medea would relate to tova as a mother and a friend but also relate powerfully with muiri as a victim in this
ultimately i don’t think there’s any real justification to kill nilsine here, i dont think you can really morally defend that, but. i was so drawn to muiri and wanted so badly to give her a shot at a better life and help her heal from all this, and knew she would become a marriage option if i did it bc id seen her name on the marriage options list before, her story fits in so well with medea’s, and like, i dont imagine im gonna have a lot of options for wives who would Know about my connection to the dark brotherhood/the things ive done and be okay with it, so if i went with her, there wouldn’t be a “keeping this horrible secret from my wife” aspect to deal with even though the game probably doesn’t acknowledge it if you do (i mean im still. keeping it from my kids, but. y’know. when they’re older)
and “talk this out with her and help her see how badly her mind’s been warped by the pain she’s been through” isn’t an option given to you, so
in the end i went through with it. killing alain was easy, just like any other bandit camp raid, but to get at nilsine without being caught, i had to sneak into their house when the family was asleep
which i expected would involve a lot of careful sneaking and laborious lock picking
until i realized i could just walk right in
because the door was already unlocked for me. because they consider me a friend and allow me into their home
and that somehow made it so much worse
i killed nilsine with an arrow, nobody heard a thing, and i ran for it before anyone saw me in there or realized what had happened
Tumblr media
muiri gave me a special ring as a “symbol of her affection” for doing this, which i think is about the biggest sign i coulda hoped for lmao
i held off on considering marriage for the time though and finally decided i had to go back to windhelm to see if there was anything i could do to make amends to the shatter-shields even though they shouldn’t know it was me/make sure i didnt get seen by a guard without realizing it or something (though it wouldn’t probably matter anyway, guards saw me leave the orphanage immediately after grelod’s death and shrugged that off, so,)
my name’s still clear in windhelm, but...
Tumblr media
tova committed suicide after she discovered what happened
she couldn’t cope with losing another daughter
so now the father is the only one left, coping with. the death of his entire family occurring within like a couple months
i didnt see what happened here i came back later so i dont know if this is something you can possibly stop or if its possible to witness the moment they find nilsine or tova’s suicide or if this just Inevitably happens whenever you come back
i feel terrible about this but theres. not really any going back now,
so. i went back to muiri
Tumblr media
i dont know if this is what everyone says or not but her response was just. “i mean, yeah, why wouldn’t I be” i love her lmao
Tumblr media
i wouldnt choose to get married in riften if it was up to me but thats how it be in skyrim i guess
Tumblr media
my babies are here!!!! what!!!!
and a. random guy i dont recognize lmao :’)
just wandered in to see what was going on i guess. or maybe we’re friends and i forgot who he is entirely which would be kind of sad :’ )
maybe it was my long lost father... slipped out before i ever had the chance to realize it
however i actually. ended up doing this scene twice because, fun fact, there’s a glitch where if you don’t manage to catch up to your spouse to talk about where to live before they leave the chapel they can just fucking Disappear sometimes, :’  ) i couldnt find her anywhere after the wedding and finally looked it up and apparently she just fell into the void so i had to reload and run it again. we’re double married now
Tumblr media
planned better this time and dressed better but anyway that elf guy didn’t appear this time but some other guy did, who i ALSO cant quite identify, he looks. maybe. kind of like lucas valerian? who is actually a friend to me and was one of the first friends i made so it’d decently make sense for him to come to my wedding, but weird if he came and camilla didn’t, and im not even sure thats him anyway, so i dont know what happened here all around
Tumblr media
muiri’s mentor lady came too though which was sweet
Tumblr media
im spinning this kind of as... like, medea was so drawn to her and felt so strongly for her she couldn’t bring herself to disappoint her and this was an eye opener for them both as a kind of. “look what kind of people we’ve let ourselves become” and their marriage as a new beginning, love coming from a place of desperation and darkness, starting over and hoping that the divines will forgive what they’ve done
medea’s not leaving the brotherhood but i mmmmmight try to be a little more careful about who i kill
Tumblr media
i had intended for her to come live with me in markarth, she’s in on my. assassin life so having kind of this Other Side to my life made sense but... she met my kids at the wedding i guess and she wanted to live with them... which is really cute,
it feels really weird having this huge fancy house all to myself (and uh. argis, i guess) in markarth and having my wife and kids (and lydia, and a fox) all squished into the honestly kinda run-down whiterun house though i think im gonna work on getting the solitude house for them bc its. safer there than in markarth i feel like and ive heard thats like the fanciest/biggest house
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there she is..... my Wife
she also sells things now but i feel bad accepting it when she gives me “my share” of the profit like.... babe thats your money i have so much adventuring money and i didnt do shit to help earn that,
i buy things from her sometimes but i refuse to sell her stuff bc i dont want to take any more of her money :’ )
even tho it. doesnt really matter, its video games, i know, but
Tumblr media
found lucia, the fox, and muiri all on the bed at once
Tumblr media
lydia was just standing like this for a rly long time after muiri moved in i guess she was suspicious but chilled out eventually :’)
Tumblr media
gettin along finally
i just realized if we move to solitude lydia’s gonna get left behind though :(
i mean ill still come visit her but. upsetting
my one issue is that muiri still keeps saying “thank you for solving my-....problem.” every time i come in speaking distance of her which is. weird given that its the same line she had before we were married, like, she apparently doesnt get any new things to say, and is Really repetitive (imagine living in a small space with your partner and they say the same sentence with the same intonation every time you step within like 2 feet of them. how long til that gets old, do you think, ) and also its just like??? girl let that go we gotta stop dwelling on this or the kids are gonna start questioning what apparently massively important problem mommy solved
Tumblr media
idk why she was laying on the floor but anyway my kids have started calling her “mama” now too and im not crying or anything

Fates tips I discovered/created
For Revelations, an Elise!Kiragi is actually great if you train him as a Kinshi Knight (especially with a shining bow or a bolt naginata) then reclass him into a Basara.
Beruka actually doesn't suck as a Malig Knight. She's actually quite great if you use a Spirit Dust or two and an Arms Scroll to get her a better tome rank. Find a castle that has Rend Heaven for her and buy it for her. She works wonders!
You can't really pick a bad mom for Midori, but the best ones in my experience are Azura, Beruka, and Setsuna. Azura and Setsuna both give her a +7 speed modifier but negative defense. Beruka gives her mediocre speed but great defense and skill.
Laslow's marriage options in Revelations aren't great for him or Soleil. Hana is okay at best only because of Partner Sealing and passing down Astra/Swordfaire to Soleil. Azura and Mozu are great for him and make Soleil pretty good. Laslow also makes Shigure amazing in turn with high skill and luck.
Azama and Felicia are an incredible pairing. The great thing is, you can reclass Azama into an Apothecary, get the 2 skills, and promote him to a Merchant. Once you gain those Merchant skills, he can still function greatly as a Great Master. Passing down Profiteer to Mitama will benefit nicely. Mitama will also love getting Live to Serve from Felicia. Basically, you can build a powerful mage tank Mitama this way. She's great as a Strategist and Maid. Literally one of my best child units on Birthright.
Marrying Leo to Azura is more beneficial than one might think. Forrest benefits from Voice Of Peace since he's a supportive unit. Azura also has a decent magic growth. If you have access to DLC, Shigure makes an amazing Dark Flier this way.
Camilla and Xander have exceptional defense. They're probably going to be your main tanks on Conquest, as long as you keep Camilla away from arrows (unless you buy bowbreaker or have her get it by reclassing into sorcerer). Be warned though: Xander has lowish speed that's pathetic for a Paladin and Camilla's speed is mediocre at best (I think it caps at 29 as a Malig Knight). Their speed can be fixed with units like Kaze as their pair-up support partner.
Elise is actually ridiculously powerful. Her main problem is that she goes SQUISH like really easily. If you can keep her behind a wall of sturdy units and make sure she can't be range attacked by physical units, she'll be an absolute beast. However, she's an incredible mage tank because of her ridiculously high resistance stat/growth.
Camilla!Velouria is one of my best units. Period. Her strength, defense, and skill are absolutely killer. For some reason, she also has a speed asset (unlike her poor slow dad), so her speed is great, although it's nowhere near Kitsune speed. Basically, this version of her outright replaced Keaton in my Conquest file. Camilla gives her some pretty great resistance too.
No matter what, Selkie is pretty much a speedy glass canon. Anyone who could give her good defense is still not going to patch up her weakness by much. Honestly, Charlotte and Felicia are both solid moms for her if you want to amplify the glass canon role for her.
Charlotte and Benny are super underrated as a pairing. While being paired up, Charlotte gets a MAJOR defense boost from Benny (which can be combined with the Adamant Club for an extra +4 defense). Benny gets a good speed and strength boost.
Friendship sealing Elise and Sakura on Revelations is the greatest possible option for either one of them, imo. Sakura kicks ass as a maid (plus Live to Serve on her is incredible) and the Onmoyji class allows Elise to maximize her magic potency.

Sunland Episode Fourteen: The Case of the Confessing Gravedigger
Badwinter was a small, isolated town. The party located the center of town, in which they found blacksmithing services, a trader, and an inn called The Chestnuts. As they were orienting themselves, they heard a woman pleading, "Give him back!"
They joined various curious onlookers and saw an aging half-orc man being led to the fort in chains, while a dwarven woman tried to comfort the woman pleading with him. It turned out the half-orc was the local gravedigger, and now that the earth had thawed enough to start burying people again it had been discovered the bodies were missing and gravedigger admitted to hiding the fact.
The dwarf introduced herself as Brontyn Gritlight, the local priest; a cleric of Helm, god of protection, and she recognised Hope as a fellow follower of the Light, if not the same deity, and welcomed her and her friends into the chapel, explaining the situation.
Feeling the whole smuggled corpses business was horribly familiar, the party agreed to help, and quickly set about investigating the undercroft where the bodies had been stored and then stolen from. The party quickly ascertained that someone had come in with tools and taken the bodies away; they had no walked out by themselves or been spirited by some other manner.
They next turned their attention to the gravedigger's rooms, and after Hope became suspicious of some bottles of beer, Hope cast a spell that illuminated the fact that they had been poisoned with a sleeping draught. The gravedigger's story of sleeping through without seeing the bodies stolen now made a lot more sense, and Brontyn hurried off with a bottle to clear the gravedigger's name.
It still didn't answer the question; what had happened to the bodies?
The party returned to The Chestnuts for lunch, learning that the inn was lit via large placid glowing beetles, rather than lamps or candles. Afterwards, the went to the fort to get in contact with Lord Thail's agent: Sargent Jella Tonkins.
Tonkins was out on patrol so the party waited for her. The halfling eventually returned on sundown, riding her dog Otto, which allowed her to keep up with the humans and half-orcs on patrol with her. She greeted them cheerfully, and didn't seem entirely surprised to learn Lord Thail had sent them.
She passed on the information she had about Orchestra, which didn't amount to a whole lot, other than the intelligence that they rode a kind of native cattle, and were led by a female warleader.
The party also discussed the mystery of the missing bodies and came to the conclusion that the best way to find out what was happening to them was to have it known there was a body waiting for burial in the undercroft; until the gravedigger was released it wouldn't be put anywhere else.
Camilla knew the magic that would make someone appear as dead for an hour, and the party worked on a plan.
The next day, they left for the woods, as if they were simply out to collect the bounty on various wild beasts that the commander at the fort had posted. Camilla located a kind of poisonous mushroom that they would use to explain Hope's sudden death, and while exploring the forest came across a large colony of bees.
Feeling nostalgic, Camilla communed with them, and learned that they found areas of the forest strange but couldn't explain further.
As the sun dropped in the western sky, the party returned to the edge of the woods. Camilla cast her spell, and then she and George carried Hope's lifeless body into town, while Harmony put on a magnificently grief-struck performance.
The townsfolk summoned both the priest Brontyn, and the trader, a hunched older woman who apparently served as some sort of apothecary. Although she could offer no help to Hope, she identified the mushroom as poisonous. Brontyn was going to attempt a resurrection spell, and her devastated reaction to the unexpected death of her new ally convinced the party that she was in no way implicated in the disappearance of the corpses.
Once they were inside the chapel they explained their plan to Brontyn, who was greatly relieved, and was more than happy to help. With Hope's body stashed in the undercroft, the party sadly made their way back to the inn, to be offered drinks in commiseration for their loss.
They went to bed early, and once the inn was quiet they snuck out, clad in Camilla's magic, and made their way back to the chapel.
Hope had returned to consciousness in the meantime, and after letting her know they were there, they hid in the undercroft and waited.
After some time, the door opened, and two figures carrying a hooded lantern crept down into the undercroft. Once the door was shut they uncovered the lantern, and the party prepared themselves to attack.
As soon as one of them took a crowbar to Hope's coffin, the party sprang, George striking with the pommel of his sword, Harmony making one of the crowbars glow red hot, and Camilla speaking words of magic that froze one in place. Hope surged out of the coffin, but by the time she was out and on her Camilla had given the remaining grave robber a literal bear hug, and as he struggled free George knocked him out.
The grave robbers were tied up and Cam and Harmony went upstairs to find Brontyn, who was not asleep. Hope cast zone of truth, and the interrogation began.
The grave robbers seemed quite unintimidated by the threat to be turned over to the guards, and only George's suggestion that they be stripped and painted with honey and left in the woods for the bears to find got through to them.
When asked who they were working for the grave robber told them to look at his chest and see. George headbutted him, but in the process did see a deliberate white scar on his chest, and recalled stories from Averhill about a criminal group called the Ivory Snake Syndicate, who scarred their members.
The thug admitted to stealing the bodies, but only said that they were delivered to a buyer for them in the forest. He was very reluctant to be more specific until Harmony, his tone light and cheerful redelivered George's earlier threat with a kind of low-key menace that unsettled the grave robber far more than a show of brute force would have.
Once they had directions, they ask Brontyn to go and fetch Sargent Tonkins, as they couldn't risk letting the grave robbers go or handing them over to a potentially corrupt guard until they'd investigated this shack for themselves.
Jella was delighted with their work, and seemed familiar with the Syndicate, immediately making plans to get the thugs onto the next boat to Silring for further interrogation.
In the meantime, the party knew somewhere in the forest, someone was expecting a body to be delivered to a shack. They didn't intend to disappoint them.

this battle has gone on for far longer than it should have. the hoshidan forces, though numerous, were supposed to have been routed by now-- alternatively, a point of escape should have made itself known. you’ve seen it enough times, you know the exact moment the reinforcements -- apothecaries, wielding bows with deadly precision -- will arrive, and just how many there would be. either they’d shown up sooner than you’d expected, or there were more of them this time... in any case, time is running out. you’re supposed to be getting elise into bed and giving her the medicine by now. how much longer would she last...?
perhaps earlier on you might have despaired. now, all you can do is wonder.
carefully disentangling yourself from laslow’s and peri’s watchful eye, you’d slipped into the battlefield and gotten lost in the clash of light and dark. leo and camilla, as well as their retainers, were thankfully too occupied in their own battles to notice you’d pushed forward... at least, you hope.
... would this work, though? ryouma would keep his word if you surrendered yourself to him-- he would not break a promise like this if an innocent’s life was genuinely endangered, even if she was a princess of nohr. what you’re concerned about is what would come next. would you be imprisoned in a hoshidan tower this time? interrogated about nohr’s battle plans? ignored entirely...?
you don’t know, you don’t know, you don’t know.
what you do know is that this has gone on for far too long and that the kingdom of dusk needs its light. you have to try. slipping into palace macarath hadn’t been easy, especially since the endeavour had involved dodging ninjas you hadn’t wished to hurt, but you can see your older brother at the end of this hallway and he looks about ready to charge... as do the entourage of samurai accompanying him.
   oh, gods grant you strength.
“ryouma, stop this! please!”
Tumblr media
you throw the yato to the ground, wincing as the golden blade clatters against the tile and comes to rest several feet ahead. you dare not give up your dragonstone, but make sure it is where he can plainly see it.
“she’s dying-- please, call off your troops... i beg of you. elise has done nothing wrong!”
you get to your knees before lowering into a deep bow-- saikirei, you think this level of respect had been called. you keep your gaze firmly on the ground, daring not to show any sign of insincerity when you next speak; the bow must be executed perfectly, or else...
“leo and camilla don’t know i’m here. i surrender. i’ll go back to hoshido, so please... i humbly beg of you, let elise be treated...”
