rambling about my ocs.

i don’t fully identify with the label ‘furry’, but i do like to draw anthro animals to represent myself and i thought i’d explain a bit. Some are far more significant than others, but I tend to create characters to represent specific feelings and emotions/ the different ways i think of myself. After that they tend to get a bit more seperate, their own backstories etc. but starting as bits of me.

Ellie the Hyena ^^ (they/she) - The most ‘me’ character I use to represent myself the most often. Though.. more goofy and optimistic xD Made originally to represent myself to the world. Curiosity, humour, being without fear of filter.

Leo the Red Panda (he/him) - the grumpiest red panda possible. One eye, *former* optimist, tends to be tired. Works nights as a cleaner. He really loves his friends, but would never tell them that. Used to hang around junkyards/dumps a lot. Made originally to put all my cynicism, grumpiness, loyalty and practicallity into.

Wick the Dog (they/them (and rerely he)) - My very nervous puppy. They tend to be anxious and quiet. Wears hairbands on their left wrist to match their right arm pattern. Enjoys collecting retrotech. Leo and Ellie affectionatly call them ‘Mutt’. Original feelings are very personal, the character I’m most hesitant to share.

Nevermore the Black Jaguar (she/they/who cares) art by my friend Hoop - Shortened to Nev, she’s cis, but doesn’t really care about identifying with gender. She’s confident, intelligent, mischivious, silly, flirty, but only really talks around individuals or close friends. She’s in her own world a lot of the time, basically noctournal working as a programmer. Doesn’t really care about most things, not because of apathy, she’s just usually pretty satisfied! Leo’s best friend, they’ve known eachother since they were young. I made her originally to hold intelligence, problem solving and that very specific feeling of choosing not to overthink and just have fun sometimes.

I don’t draw them together too often, (especially Leo and Nev) but I think of them as all living togetrher in a small house in the city. There’s a few more characters who live in their ‘world’ Casey + Misha - Tanuki and Badger gay couple who own a board game cafe. Wren the Snow Leopard - An old OC of mine made for motivation, ambition and self reflection, but they don’t get drawn very much.

There’s more bits and pieces about. nsfw characters (not for tumblr), backstories, many unposted doodles, but this is pretty much the gist. If anyone wants to ask questions that’d be cool! Maybe a good way to get to know a few more people on here~

Cleopatra is very loyal and kind to everyone she loves. At times, Cleopatra can be stubborn and almost hot tempered as her second eldest brother, Raphael. She can mostly be calm and peaceful like her eldest brother, Leonardo. She's also smart like her third older brother, Donatello. She's also can be hyper and energetic like her older younger brother, Michelangelo.

Hobbies: Listening to music, singing (singing along with her favorite songs), training with her brothers, learns how to sew and embroidery from watching videos on Donnie's laptop. (A/N: I'll might update more hobbies in the future)

• Cleopatra is named after the last Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt; Cleopatra VII Philopator of the Ptolemaic Dynasty

• Given the fact that she was adopted by Hamato Yoshi/Splinter, Cleopatra's full name could be "Hamato Cleopatra," or in Western naming order, "Cleopatra Hamato."

• Cleopatra became a kunoichi at the age of 8.

• Cleopatra's order of who is her favorite brother is in this order: Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael, but she loves her brothers equally.

• Cleopatra is right-handed.

• Her favorite colors are black and white, even though she's a tomboy, she also likes pink.

Leonardo

Leonardo is the eldest brother of Cleopatra. They love to watch Space Heroes, even though it's not her favorite show, or train with each other. Considering she's the youngest, Leonardo is very protective of Cleopatra and will do anything to protect her.

Raphael

Raphael is the second eldest brother of Cleopatra. Raphael and Cleopatra spar with each other, hang out with each other, and teases each other. Cleopatra even got her anger attitude from him but learns to control it better than he can. Like Leonardo, Raphael is very protective of Cleopatra.

Donatello

Donatello is the third oldest brother of Cleopatra. Donatello and Cleopatra love to hang out together and spar with each other. Since Cleopatra isn't allowed to go to school, Master Splinter thought it would be a good idea to homeschool her and she's been homeschooled since she was five. Like his other brothers, Donatello is very protective of Cleopatra.

Michelangelo

Michelangelo is the older younger brother of Cleopatra. They love cooking, playing video games with each other, training, etc. Whenever Cleopatra's down in the dumps, Michelangelo is always there to cheer her up the best he can. Like his older brothers, Michelangelo is very protective of Cleopatra.

Master Splinter

Master Splinter aka Hamato Yoshi is the adoptive father and master of Cleopatra. If Master Splinter had to pick a favorite child, it had to be Cleopatra. She reminds him of his other baby he had lost, but will never be replaced, Miwa. Splinter and Cleopatra have a special father/daughter bond that can never be broken, so they're extremely close. Cleopatra would love to listen to his stories about Japan and his old life. Master Splinter is SUPER protective of Cleopatra because of what happened to his last daughter, so he doesn't want it to happen the same thing to Cleopatra.

Karai/Miwa

Even though Karai is Cleopatra's enemy, Cleopatra secretly thinks that there is good in her. When she finds out Karai is technically her sister, Cleopatra tries to tell Karai that Splinter is her true father but couldn't. When Karai joins them, Karai and Cleopatra began to have close sister bond and Karai is very protective and will do anything to protect her little sister.

Isamu

In "Of Rats and Men", Cleo found an abandoned German Shepherd puppy soon after April found a stray cat. She soon named him Isamu after he tried to help protect her from the giant rats. Isamu means "Courage" or "Bravery" in Japanese. The two formed a close bond since then, so Isamu rarely leaves Cleo's side, with the exception that he has to stay in the lair while Cleo goes on missions with her brothers, leaving him to be taken care of by Splinter.

April O'Neil

April and Cleopatra are best friends, practically sisters. Cleopatra is really glad to have another girl because her brothers can get annoying sometimes. April is like a big sister to Cleopatra; April helps Donatello homeschool Cleopatra before getting her to attend high school.

Casey Jones

When they first met, Casey becomes like another brother to Cleopatra. Casey and Cleopatra tease each other and loves hanging out.

have you've heard like folklore about trains? (like ghost trains and stuff?)

Hi, anon! Sorry I didn't get back to you right away - I've been a bit busy, to say the least!

Ghost trains are always fun. I have a Chandelure named after one, the St. Louis Light, which is in Canada. A ghost train is also the subject of what I personally think is the best episode of Hey Arnold.

I went to look up a bit on ghost trains, and what I found on Wikipedia was interesting - there's apparently folktales in Japan wherein steam locomotive drivers would hear another train oncoming, stop to avoid a collision, and instead find only a deceased tanuki on the tracks. Most of the time in the US, at least, ghost train legends tend to crop up around the sites of accidents.

On a somewhat morbid note, the locomotive that Casey Jones was driving at the time of his death actually has a body count. Casey wasn't the only person killed by it - Illinois Central 382 took the lives of quite a few railroad personnel, and when it was being scrapped in 1935, it managed to jump the rails and take one last person with it.

TMNT Bad Blood Chapter 3 (Part 2)

"Casey, play nice." I reprimanded him.

"But he started it." Casey whined while pointing at Donatello. I glared him down until a young, bubbly voice broke the tension.

"I'm Mikey." Said a little boy wearing a dark orange tunic. He had bright blonde hair and baby blue eyes. His eyes were lighter than Leonardo's and it made Michelangelo look younger than he actually was. I'm sure he uses them all the time to get out of trouble.

"Hey, Mikey. How old are you, little guy." I asked.

"I'm not little. I'm thirteen so technically I am a teenager." He pouted.

"Okay, Squirt." I responded with a wink. I looked over at the four men accompanying Leo and his brothers. "Are those guys your body guards or something I?" I asked Leo.

"Oh them." Leo said disdainfully. "Those are our bodyguards, Takeshi, Steranko, Zeck, and Bradford." Leo said pointing the group of men that were accompanying him and his brothers. I glanced at the guards. Takeshi was the one with orange and white hair was staring at me and my friends with malicious intent. I looked at Steranko, he was built like a tank and had a messed-up eye that I tried not to focus on. Next, was Zeck, he's a skinny man with dark skin wearing a bright purple suit and glasses. Bradford was a good-looking man who probably had ladies swooning over him. He had a muscular build with brown hair and a beard, and blue eyes. I don't know why but Leo's guards unsettled me and sent shivers down my spine, especially Takeshi.

Leo took notice of my chills and said, "Here take my cloak. You must be freezing." He took off his dark blue cloak and placed it over my shoulders.

"Oh no. You don't have to do that." I said trying to protest, but he already tied it around my neck. "So, are you here to compete for the princess's hand?" I asked.

"Not really. My dad made me come here for foreign relations. I don't have any intention of courting the snobby princess." Leo said with disgust in his voice.

"Snob? Who said that the princess is a snob? I know her personally and she doesn't see herself on a higher standing than anyone else." I snapped at Leonardo.

"How do you know what the princess is like?" Takeshi asked suspiciously. I looked at Casey and April nervously.

"Oh, um, you see, April and I are maids at the castle and Casey is a palace guard in training, so we see the princess sometimes and she's really nice." I answered lamely.

"She's also a babe." Casey added with a smirk. April and I slapped him upside the head in response. "Ow." Casey complained.

"Anyway, since you are going to the castle, we can show you a short cut since we inconvenienced your trip." I offered.

"Actually, we are heading to Meijing to see a friend." Leo responded.

"Meijing? You guys are taking the long way to get there. I can take you through the short cut and you'll get there in about thirty minutes." I said smiling at Leonardo.

"Sure, that sounds great." Leo replied.

"Okay let me mou-" Suddenly, Casey puts his hand over my mouth and pulled me away from Leonardo.

"Are you crazy?" Casey whisper shouted once he removed his hand from my mouth. "We just met these guys and they are practically screaming danger. I don't trust them."

"Are you sure you don't trust them because they're flirting with us?" April asked Casey with a smug smirk.

"No. Those guys are bad news, I just know it. Besides they don't seem to like you so much Vee." Casey insisted.

"They don't like the princess. As far as they know, I am an ordinary servant for the royal family. Not to mention Leo saved me from being drowned by the Tanuki." I clarified. "Please don't ruin this Casey. I trust them and it's refreshing to meet a prince who doesn't want to court me. Maybe if I show him the real me then he'll like me for me. I really don't want to end up in a loveless marriage." I pleaded to my friend.

I used my best puppy eyes on him and Casey sighed and relented, "Fine but if anything happens don't say I didn't warn you."

Leonardo

Mei and April were arguing with the Jones boy and Jones kept sending us angry looks. Finally, they seemed to reach an agreement and they all mounted their horses. "Are you gentlemen ready to go?" Mei asked us and flashed another dazzling smile.

The sight of her smile made my heart quicken and I mounted my own horse. "Lead the way, My Lady." I said while urging Noble to her side. I heard Raph laughing behind me and I threw twig from a nearby tree at him. He ducked the twig but when he came back up, a hanging branch hit him in the face and Jones started to laugh at him. Raph growled then shoved up against Jones and Jones shoved back. I decided to ignore them and let them work out their own problems.

I turned my attention back towards Mei and asked, "So why were you chasing that thing?"

"That thing was a Tanuki and it stole my mother's necklace." Mei answered keeping her eyes on the path ahead.

"What's a Tanuki?" I asked.

Mei turned to look at me with a quizzical expression. "A Tanuki is a shape-shifting creature that likes to play tricks on people that usually end in embarrassment. I just so happened to be a victim of one of its pranks. They are usually harmless, but I guess that one was a little meanspirited." She said.

"You willingly followed a mischievous creature just to get your necklace back." Raph said in disbelief.

"Why not forget about it and just tell your mom a Tanuki stole the necklace? "Donnie asked.

"My mom died in one of the Shredder's attacks. It's one of the only things I have left of her." She said solemnly.

We all grew quiet until and Mei looked to the side no longer facing me. "I'm sorry." I started and reached to grab her hand in comfort. She looked confused at first and I was about to pull my hand away but she held my hand back and smiled.

"It's okay." She responded and squeezed my hand. "It's not your fault she's gone and I'm not the only one without a mom. A lot of people have it worse than I do because of the war. I should consider myself one of the lucky ones."

Her eyes were brimming with tears and it felt like I was just punched in my stomach. It was my fault that her mom is gone or at least my family's fault. "My mom abandoned us and left us at the palace doors. Luckily the king was kind enough to take us in and raise us as his own. He's the closest thing I've ever had to a father." I told her. I'm not sure why I told her that, but I felt like I needed to after she told me about her mom.

She smiled sadly at me in understanding. "Well I guess you four are now apart of our estranged/dead parent club. All of us have our parent sob stories." Mei responded. I looked back at Casey and April and they were nodding their heads in confirmation.

"My mom and sister abandoned my dad and I because she couldn't handle his job and the threat of him dying on the battlefield." Casey told us. "I was ten and my little sister was four."

"That's rough." Raph said trying to be comforting.

"Whatever, I'm over it. It happened a long time ago." Casey replied.

"My mom died in childbirth. I never got a chance to know her." April shared.

"What about your Dad?" Mikey asked.

"Mikey you can't just ask what happened to someone's parents." Donnie snapped at Mikey.

"No. It's fine. My father was kidnapped by the Shredder. I'm not sure what happened to him." April said sadly. "At least the King Yoshi was kind enough to let me stay in the palace while he tries to find a way to save my dad. If he's even still alive that is." O'Neil something about that name is familiar to me. I looked at my brothers and I could tell that they were thinking the same thing.

"April, was your dad the scientist, Kirby O'Neil?" Donnie asked hesitantly.

"Yes. How do you know my dad?" April asked rounding on Donnie.

"I'm a fan of his work. I heard that he was kidnapped. He was a brilliant man, I'm sorry for your loss." Donnie said shakily. He was always a bad liar. He looked over at me for help.

"Mei, how did you know about the shortcut leading to Meijing?" I asked trying to change the subject. "Donnie told us that it was a hour away."

"It is a hour away if you travel the long way. You probably didn't know about the short cut because no one except the brave or stupid take it anymore. All the natives have started taking the long way because it's safer." Mei said.

April is so hard to design! I got a bit of inspiration from the 80s design, but idk-

Anyway, she's supposed to be a red panda (whilst Casey is a Tanuki) a samurai from birth, but things happens (? And she ended up helped raising the turtles and trained by splinter as Kunoichi. Tho, she's specialized as a walking Miko and kamuso Who gathers information for the Hamato.

Maybe I should go for the 2003 design... Ahh anyway, here's some sketches (including a first design for Tanuki!Casey and Foot!Usagi from rabbit stew referencing Leo from the IDW city fall arc) :p
