Eddie was getting familiar with happiness. 

It wasn’t like he hadn’t been happy before in his life, he remembered nights out with his friends as a teenager where they never seemed to stop laughing, he remember the euphoria he felt when Christopher had been born and how much his cheeks hurt from all the laughing and smiling; even in recent years, there had been parties and movie nights with Buck, there had been silly stories shared with the 118, and afternoons spend on his abuela’s house watching reruns of marimar - Yes the telenovela was so overly dramatic it was just funny, especially with Pepa’s commentary. 

But there had also been funerals, and endless nights spent in hospital’s waiting rooms, or even nights spent in hospital rooms, Eddie had gotten too familiar with lost, and pain, and helplessness. Slowly, it seemed like happiness was something out of reach for him. 

Until his best friend had broken down his bedroom door, held him through his breakdown, listened to him while he spilled his every fear at him, and then stayed. Buck had stayed and let Eddie heal, he helped with Christopher the days he could barely leave the bed in the mornings after spending nights fighting off his own head, Buck let him talk when he needed to talk, and sat quietly with him on the days therapy was too harsh and Eddie couldn’t talk anymore. He stayed, and when Eddie was ready to find happiness again, he looked at Buck and thought to himself He makes me happy.  

A few days later he decided Buck deserved to know.

It wasn’t really a date, Eddie had just asked Buck out for dinner, just the two of them, while Chris had a sleepover with Deny and Harry, he hadn’t said it was a date because he wanted to show Buck that he made him happy regardless of their relationship status, so officially it wasn’t a date. Even when it felt just like one.

Eddie had chosen a table at their favorite Korean place, they usually didn’t go often since Christopher wasn’t a huge fan, but Eddie had heard Buck said he was craving dumplings so he made the reservation and then let Buck know he was taking him out for dinner their next night off. Buck had blushed and accepted the invitation and when Eddie picked him up from his place he was smiling shyly, playing around with the hem of his shirt, and Eddie just smiled took his hand and dragged him to the truck.

They didn’t let go until they had to in order to get in the truck, but once they parked at the restaurant’s lot Buck’s excitedly grabbed Eddie’s again and lead him to the restaurant, talking about how much food he was going to order and how Eddie didn’t have a say on it – Eddie just laughed and let Buck choose their meal, after all he was one with the cravings, and Eddie was fine with whatever – but once again, Buck didn’t let go of his hand until he absolutely had to.

“You know” Buck said once they were done with their first course of food “you’ve been a lot happier lately”

Eddie smiled at him “have I?”

Buck hummed “You’re smiling more” he was staring at his drink instead of Eddie “It’s a good look on you”

“I guess I am, happier” Eddie reached for Buck’s hand again, squeezing it and letting Buck tangle their fingers together “I’m happy when you’re around, always”

Buck blushed and looked up to Eddie through his lashes “yeah?”

Eddie hummed, squeezing Buck’s fingers with his own.

Maybe it hadn’t been a date, but at the end of the night, when Eddie dropped Buck home he still leaned into his tip toes to press a gentle kiss to Buck’s lips, and Buck wrapped his arms around Eddie and pulled him into the house, and they kissed for a while longer, and much later, when they were both more asleep than awake Buck kissed him one las time and whispered into the space between them: “I’m happy when you’re around too”

And Eddie couldn’t help but press his smile into Buck’s, vowing right there, to always make Buck happy, and let Buck make him happy in return.

💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy?

There's so many to choose from! First thing that definitely comes to mind is the Council , which gained a lot of readers in both its incomplete and completed stage. For the Maribat fandom, Fox DCW and the Vacation have a special place in my heart. The former is a silly lil AU that started off in Tumblr but it escalated into a big collection of snippets with a proper plot. I also incorporated BioDad!Bruce Wayne Month prompts into it! The latter is my first ever fic in AO3, and I love it so much even if its in indefinite hiatus right now lol.

🔮What's your favorite plot twist you've ever written?

Aha! I love this question!! It's definitely one of the plot twists in the Council, when the King of Hearts was finally revealed. The surprise drove everyone bonkers LMAO and I was giggling like a maniac because of it. A close second is the one in MDC is Dead, which nobody saw coming apparently.

🌷What's one of your fics that isn't as popular, but you hold dear?

@themonarchdragon I LOVE these questions!! There are two that I wish got more love. The first one is the academie, which is my own dystopian-ish spin on the Miraculous universe. It's one of the fics where I outlined really intricate lore and features one of my favorite trios in the fandom (ie. the blonde trio Adrien, Felix, and Chloe). TBH I was often discouraged because the kudos/comments are sparse but I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Regardless, I love this AU and I still update it from time to time!

The second one is Miraculo, which I never got around to writing for again, but it's also one of the more lore heavy fics. It's a royalty/medieval AU Felinette, where their magic system is based on the Miraculous powers. I'm hoping the muse strikes again and I gain motivation for this fic again but it's very very dear to my heart.

🔮 CRYSTAL BALL — what is a core memory from your childhood that you think defines you today?

'I want to take a positive route on this. After my mother took off with her boything, my father decided to move me from Arkansas with him to Massachusetts. For one, I’m glad he did. I can’t imagine what education is like down there, and Massachusetts is pretty good in that category, but the core memory part?

Looking out the window to see blurs of gold grass and cows turning to more suburban and busier areas. Rocking out to Aerosmith and AC/DC with him while eating McDonald’s, playing ‘I spy’, and the bounce of the car when I fell asleep after dark. 

If I rent a motel at all, I always think of him and the breakfast we shared. I listen to the same bands he introduced to me when I was only six to this day, and I’m an avid music lover for it. I lived in a home that I felt supported in, I was loved and cared for, and enough. I can’t imagine how it would’ve gone if I was stuck with my mother, constantly chasing her approval and wanting to be as good as she thought Chloe was.'

"what? literally, what? i mean, seriously? did you think i’d graduate from blackhell and spend the rest of my life in your trailer, with you and pompidou? i’m going to get out of here frank, out of arcadia, fuck, out of oregon. and don’t be surprised when i never fucking look back." i did write him that apology letter the next day apologizing and thanking him for not... idk. giving up on me?? i have more memories! just reblog this or dm me if anything sounds familiar, or u wanna hear more, or tell me yours! <3 thx!

Pascal had told me to go see Lazlo. I explained what had happened with Chloe and Lola at the lab. Why did Lola touch my stomach like that? It was so strange, it was like she thought I was pregnant or something...

Lazlo watched the light bulb go off in my head. He tried to help me calm down before he began to explain. The Curious Family had a known obsession with aliens, but it seems aliens were fascinated with them as well. Lazlo told me that his father had been abducted and impregnated twice! That is where Lola and Chloe came from.

That explains why they seemed so calm about Pascal's abduction last year. Tycho wasn't the first alien-hybrid in their family. Lazlo said that I needed to go and see his sister, Jenny. She was a doctor at the hospital and could discreetly give me an ultrasound to confirm if I really was pregnant.
