Star Wars: Mace Windu (2024) #3 THE RUN In the time before the fall of the Republic and rise of the Galactic Empire, Jedi Knights are keepers of the peace. Before joining the Jedi Council, one brave Jedi travels the galaxy on a daring mission. He's known as…. Upon returning from a daring undersea mission, Mace Windu was briefed on a new threat: Smuggler Azita Cruuz has taken a rare, dangerous substance known as coaxium ultra and is looking to sell it to the highest bidder. After tracking down the young pirate, Mace and Azita began working together to evade the various other smugglers and hunters looking to get their hands on the rare material. But there are other mysterious figures, watching from the shadows…. Writer: Marc Bernardin Penciller: George Jeanty Inker: Dexter Vines Letterer: Joe Caramagna Colorist: Andrew Dalhouse Cover artist: Mateus Manhanini Editor: Mark Paniccia Release Date: April 17, 2024 We're back on Ro Mira as Mace Windu and Azita exit from the caves they were battling through in the second issue, and as they hit the crisp air we realise that despite the danger Azita has a plan as she uncovers a silver speeder and the pair hop in and speed away as we learn more about her. She does occassional jobs to 'stock my cargo hold and fill my fuel reserves' before disappearing again, a life Mace sees as lonely but she disagrees. Her life on their shared homeworld of Haruun Kal was tough, living alone without parents after they died when she was young, but the conversation is ended as vessels from the Ro Mira Refinery Security Patrol swoop in and start firing. Mace gives her an ultimatum; give the Jedi the formula and fuel stock of the Coaxium Ultra and he'll get her out of this predicament, and with little choice in the matter she agrees. He tells the pursuing vessels who he is, and how the speeder is under his protection, a move that works as the vessels peel off and leave. Mace and Azita believe the situation has ended when one of the two ships suddenly explodes into flame, followed by the second. Then the reveal - the ships have been destroyed by the Anzellan bounty hunter Yaya Shram and when Mace tells Shram that the speeder is udner his protection, the hunter says he doesn't care as he's working for Jabba the Hutt. [gallery link="file" size="large" ids="160777,160775,160776"] We realise that Yaya is leading a swarm of vessels, and with their chances of escape shrinking, Mace decides to do something utterly crazy but very Jedi and leap from the speeder to the nearest ship, climb aboard and ignite the purple. He begins attacking the ships, taking many of them down before Yaya tells him he's incurred the wrath of Jabba the Hutt and Yaya Shram, both of whom Mace claims he's never heard of as the Anzellan speeds away. Hopping back onto the speeder as the final ship self-destructs, they arrive at Radial Spaceport and Azita first gives away the speeder and then makes sure Mace verbally confirms that she'll get paid once they arrive on Coruscant. We conclude as they arrive at a sharship, about to step aboard but are blocked by the Dusk Weavers of the Had'le Path, ending another action-packed and intriguing issue that shows the stoic Mace and his powers off to their best effect, the voice of Samuel L. Jackson ringing in your ears. There's not a lot of plot in this issue - they get in a speeder, are attacked, escape and arrive at a spaceport - but that does allow for some character development of Azita, who allows us to see what Mace's childhood could have looked like on Haruun Kal. Engaging artwork and a snappy script is building a story that has certainly got this reader keen for the fourth and final issue. [amazon box="B0CWPMG6SY"]

The Courtyard — Alan Moore, Anthony Johnston, and Jacen Burrows The Courtyard is a cosmic horror/police procedural story *fans of True Detective’s ears perk up* following undercover FBI agent Aldo Sax exploring the brain-melting horrors of incomprehensible malevolent deities, their stand acolytes, and the underground music scene. The artwork is solid and the consistent full page vertical panels create a propulsive and deliberate but obscured feel, which fits the story well, if I’d be happy not too see that layout again for a while. Playful with Lovecraft and Robert W. Chambers lore, it’s a fun brief read for fans of the genre, though it did spawn two increasingly long sequels. #comicreview #graphicnovel https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp9u5Qcsgjq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The legend of the Black Barn tells of an otherworldly building that has appeared and reappeared throughout history, bringing death and madness in its wake. Now, its mystery ensnares and entwines the lives of two very different men. One: a young recluse, obsessed with finding hidden clues within the city's trash. The other: a washed-up Catholic priest, finding his place in a small town that hides dark secrets. Neither of them are prepared for what's inside the Black Barn.
There are six volumes in all, I read the first one (The Black Barn) so far and I liked it so much that I ordered the second one right away!
On the one hand, the story seems to move forward slowly, but at the same time also super fast: so many deaths already within the first few pages and the characters react rather quickly (thankfully) to a constantly changing scenario.
I recommend it to all lovers of horror and houses (in this case a barn) that appear and disappear spreading death and horror.

#Repost @nerddaddy_flow with @repostsaveapp · · · NEWTHINK 1.0 Wow, wow, wow !!!! Aufmerksam bin ich auf den Titel durch einen Post von einem meiner Lieblingszeichner @mikedeodato geworden! Dazu ein mega interessantes Thema! Also musste Heft 1 her… was soll ich sagen, ich bin absolut begeistert 🤩 Fiktion oder bereits Realität?

Star Wars: Thrawn: Alliances #4 THE CLIMACTIC CONCLUSION! DARTH VADER and THRAWN must find the solution to their problem… …but where does that leave THRAWN and ANAKIN? A SPACE BATTLE FOR THE AGES! PAST and PRESENT collide as THRAWN partners with ANAKIN SKYWALKER and DARTH VADER! What are the separatists hiding? And how does PADMÉ play a role? JODY HOUSER and original THRAWN: ALLIANCES novelist TIMOTHY ZAHN continue to plot the course of Thrawn's rise with PAT OLLIFFE and ANDREA DI VITO! Writers: Timothy Zahn, Jody Houser Artists: Andrea Di Vito, Pat Olliffe Letterer: VC Travis Lanham Colorist: Rachelle Rosenberg Cover artist: Rod Reis Editor: Daniel Khazem Release Date: April 10, 2024 The final issue of Thrawn: Alliances arrives and we open with a step to the past and the world of Mokivj as we find Padme arriving at the co-ordinates she was given to find the Separatist facility and undeterred she begins to climb, only to be found and caught by locals who at first don't believe her story of losing her fishing boat and then think to hand her to the baron. Padme has a better idea - call her Uncle Anakin and get him to pay a ransom to free her, and assuring the locals that she won't run we return to the present near Batuu and a blocky starship swooping in, about to be attacked by Grysk starships, and soon theirs a boarding and a firefight erupts as Stormtroopers break onboard and Lord Vader attacks, cutting through the Grysk until they are no more. In the past back on Mokijv Padme is nearing the Separatist Base as the locals explain the workings of the factory, and how it's run by 'metalheads'. She's left there with strict instructions not to move about, as she doesn't have access, and back in the present we join Vader and Thrawn as they look at the trophies aboard ther captured Grysk ship. Thrawn wants to find their homeworld and learn more about the threat to the Chiss, and persuades Vader to agree to let some of the Grysk go free in return for information. Further down in the ship, the Grysk have escaped their prison and begin another firefight with the Stormtroopers as back in the past on Mokijv Padme watches as Anakin arrives, clearly already on her tail. They - Anakin and Thrawn - scope out their surroundings. [gallery link="file" size="large" columns="2" ids="160769,160768"] Back in the present as the firefight between Stormtroopers and the Grysk continues when Rukh appears. One of the troopers is dead, but the fight is forcibly ended when Rukh takes down the Grysk. Loyal to the Empire, he races into the next fight at their side as once again we step to the past as Anakin and Thrawn are captured. The present, and the final scene of the series as they agree to head to Mokijv, but not before Thrawn tips his hand by referring to the time he joined Anakin in attacking the base there. Vader quickly corrects him - no one other than Thrawn was there, and we end with the Chiss giving the order to set course for Mokijv, and the last words - The End? [gallery link="file" columns="2" size="large" ids="160771,160770"] Frustratingly, that was a hard read. Characters appear with little or no explanation, their motivations unclear. Figuring out who is on who's side is even trickier, and while in an ideal world every fan would read every book, in this busy world where new Star Wars is coming at us on a daily basis that's no longer a practical expectation. Of all the titles that would benefit from a recap at the start of the issue, it's this. Indeed, that's a common problem with modern comics, assuming that readers will not only remember the previous issue in detail but all the players within. Gone are the days when a brief but helpful recap would bring the reader up to speed, the cast of characters laid out for the reader to refresh their memory. Instead, it feels as if everything is done at breakneck speed, and while a couple of minutes to check back or Google a name is hardly a hardship, a recap would be welcome. That said, this was a series clearly aimed directly at those who read and enjoyed the book, so for them this will be an undoubted (and very welcome) success. For those who never got round to reading it, it's an enjoyable albeit slightly convoluted read, feeling more like an edit of the plot of the novel rather than an adaptation that takes advantage of the medium it's told in. The covers to the four-part series have been universally beautiful, with this fourth issue arguably the most impressive and while it's sounds like I'm less than satisfied by the adaptation, further novel adaptations would be very welcome (I'm looking at you Shadow of the Sith, Brotherhood and The Living Force). Bringing in Adam Christopher, Mike Chen and comic afficionado John Jackson Miller would also be a wise move. As for Thrawn: Alliances, a worthwhile attempt but one hampered by a lack of direction in adapting it from book to comic page. With Thrawn such a key and iconic character in the Star Wars firmament, releasing such a half-baked adapttaion seems unwise; let's hope future adaptations being something new to the reading experience....and please, recaps. I have mixed feelings about the last volume of Deadly Class. Fast forwarding the setting out of the eighties and into the new millennium maybe makes the politics a bit too on the nose, but also it switches gears from a story of teenagers to one of adults. I guess I don’t like politics or adults very much! Haha! Still, Deadly Class has been a wicked ride and though I’m sad to see it end, I’m so grateful it even existed it the first place. A standing ovation goes out to Rick Remender, Wes Craig, Lee Loughridge, Rus Wooton & all involved in bringing this jagged punchy series to my comic-loving hands! 🙌🖤 #deadlyclass #afondfarewell #rickremender #wescraig #comics #graphicnovels #graphicnovel #imagecomics #comicbooks #comicart #comicreview #readcomics #readmorecomics #igcomiccommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/CnNnuQpP9fm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

These graphic novels of #doctorwho are, to me, fascinating. Doctor Who has been one of my and my family's favorite series. The world has always interested me. I love the writing and the lore of the world of Doctor Who. I may not be a big, hardcore Sci-fi fan but Doctor Who has sometimes been more than science fiction. Some episodes or stories do go in-depth with fantasy and other genres. For a long while, I haven't been watching or reading anything in doctor who, only because I have been distracted by lots of things (personal things, really) but I do miss Doctor Who so reading these 2 comics has brought back memories and my love for the series. The first comic is about the regeneration of the 13th doctor and it shows original flashback stories with the previous doctors. From the 1st to the 12th. And the second comic is a crossover story with the 10th doctor and the 13th which I wished was a reality in the show. I love David Tennant's doctor interacting with the 13th and both doctors have similar personalities if you think about it. I also love how well-written the story is for bringing what we want to see. The only problems I have is I wish I get to see more of this and wish this was an actual story in the show. And I feel it is too much of easy read and feel it should be longer so we get more of 13th and 10th doctors reacting. All in all, I will give the first comic 4/5 stars and the second comic 4.5/5 stars 🌟 #comicreview #bookreview #review #doctorwho #tardis #story #stories #catsofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/ClCpEwZvRYW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Another comic for spooky season! Cold Bodies by Magdalene Visaggio, art by Andrea Mutti, was honestly disappointing. The art is gorgeous and the premise is awesome and I love slashers, so this should have come together for me, but it really didn't. The story is disjointed in a way that is just confusing and irritating, the art sometimes makes it hard to tell what's going on, and the ending is a mess. It feels like a waste of a good premise and art. I didn't hate it, but I really felt like it was such a mixed bag that had too much negative mixed in for me to really enjoy it. I wouldn't specifically recommend against it, I'm sure it has its audience, but I won't be recommending it as that audience was not me. #books #comics #Halloween #spookyseason #bookreview #comicreview #horrorcomics #graphicnovel #graphicnovels #reading #halloweenreads https://www.instagram.com/p/CkYy-fDrqXv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
